Alternatively, fresh pasta and pizza with simple, fresh ingredients never fails to satisfy. They also do traditional Sicilian arincini on the menu, worth a try!
Personally I love the mixed bruchetta to start and the Calabrisela Pizza. Dessert are also well worth keeping room for! Alternatively they have a gelateria just down the road if preferred.

A.Best pizza in Wales!! From the outside you see only 3 tables but there are much more inside + at the first floor. I like to eat pizza and here you will eat the best pizza in Wales. I've tried multiple Italian restaurants but this one has touched my heart with a real pizza Margherita!

Good selection of pizzas and pasta dishes plus some more unusual fare and daily specials. Antipatsa starter was out of the ordinary with hot lamb and pork included in it alongside usual cold meats and cheeses. Well worth a visit.

P. D.Lovey pizza, super tasty, thin, toppings are very nice. I could easily eat it every night if it was good for the waist line. Only advice I would give would be to slice the pizza. Not everyone eats it at home. Some might want to take it outside and then becomes difficult if sharing. But this doesn’t detract me from getting the pizza. The only place I get pizza in cardiff.

B. S.We were looking for a family friendly place to go for our anniversary meal, and we'd seen an article on the Wales Online about the top 10 eateries in Cardiff. Calabrisella was one of them. We are so glad we chose it! Every member of staff acknowledged us as we were taken through to our table and a highchair was provided for our 8 month old son. The food was amazing! We had the rice balls to start - hot, fresh and so tasty! And the pizzas we had for mains were thin, crisp and the toppings were delicious. The green salad side order was so simple - shredded iceberg lettuce with seasoning and olive oil, but Wow! It was amazing! We bought cake to bring home as we were so full from the food. They were big, generous portions. If you want a family friendly venue with friendly, attentive staff and amazing food, try Calabrisella! I'd advise to book in advance as it's not a huge place, but we had no trouble getting a reservation and there were a few walk ins who got a table between 5pm and 7pm while we were there.

Emailed Calabrisella and they said they'd do us a table outside. We were 20 minutes late due to traffic and they still held the table for us. Pizza was superb, arancino best I've had. Thanks guys.

The only let down was that the decor and outfits they were wearing were a bit tacky, the lights were too bright and they were playing horribly fast music (I don't mind Italian music but that was just too fast to hear for two hours+)

T. G.This place was recommended to me by an Italian gentleman I met through my job. I love Italian food, and was happy to take him up on his advice for where to find authentic-style Italian food. He said it was the only place he had found in Cardiff where they make pizza just like it tastes in Italy!
I've only been here twice so far. Once to eat in with my parents, and once to take away with a friend. Both times I have to say the pizzas were incredible. I had calzone (a folded pizza) the first time I went, with a spicy ingredient called Nduja. I'm told they use a traditional woodfire oven which gets so hot it allows them to cook the pizza in a matter of minutes. There must be a benefit to doing it this way, because I've never had pizza dough like it in my life. Lightly crisped on the outside, but perfectly soft and stretchy inside. I didn't feel uncomfortably full or greasy afterwards either.
Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy your pizza.

That being said, the food is exceptional value. It doesn't match places like Cafe Citta for quality, but the price point makes it highly attractive. I'd recommend sharing a few things; get a pizza, some arancini and maybe something else to share between 2/3.

A family member had told me how good Calabrisella is, so it was great to have the opportunity to try it for myself.
The outside of the restaurant looks more like a chip shop/take away than a restaurant, but the food is of restaurant quality and the ambiance of the place is comfortable and pleasant.
I began with Antipasto Calabrese for one, what a delight, it included cold cuts of meat and cheese and two warm meat dishes. Each of the flavours was distinctive and delightful. I'll come back just for this delight.
My partner had the Caprese Salad which was freshly cut with a lovely taste of freshly chopped basil over the mozzarella and tomatoes.
For mains I selected one of the items on the daily specials menu, and was really pleased with it. It was Tagliatelle con cervo, zucchina gialla e pomodoroni mantecate al pecorino (Tagliatelle of venison with yellow courgettes and cherry tomatoes with pecorino). The delicate tagliatelle tasted like it had been freshly made and was cooked el dente. The pecorino complemented the cheery tomato juice and the crunch of the courgette worked really well with the tangy pieces of venison.
When the dish arrived, I thought I might have needed an accompaniment of a salad, but the meal was really filling, so at the end, though I completed it all, I was glad I'd not added anything else.
My partner had the 14" Pizza Milano this was large and generous, but it's wonderful crispy base, typical of real Italian pizzas, meant it was easy to eat and the topping went all the way to the edges so there was no waste. The Pizza was just the right size for a main course, and delicious.
Having eaten well we skipped dessert and finished off with an espresso each, like the rest of the meal, this was a typical Italian espresso with a great depth of flavour.
Overall an excellent place to eat.
