Fantastic food with the best calzone I've ever had - both my partner and I love it so much we keep going back! Great atmosphere with the right combination of modern restaurant and classic Italian. The staff are friendly and attentive, and service has always been fast and professional. This was both mine and my partner's birthday meal out choice and it did not fail to deliver - excellent both times. Would definitely recommend! Also would recommend booking a table as they are (with good reason) very popular.

Came across this eatery by accident and I'm so glad we did! I'm reckoning this will now become a firm favourite in the future. Food is delicious and authentic as well as super fresh. If Mum said it once she said it 10 times how it was the best pizza she's eaten in ages!!!

Very pleasant atmosphere initially & tasty food (pasta). Waitress at first refused to give the table their own portion of parmesan cheese to add to pasta. A very small bowl was eventually left. We were the last but one party to leave & certainly felt as if we were being rushed out - with staff sitting at next table (before 10pm)!! We were a table of 4 celebrating a birthday & were made to feel quite uncomfortable, hence bring the evening to an early and abrupt end. No clear indication of when the restaurant actually closed. Disappointing.

A family run Italian with delicious food It is great to be reminded that you don't have to travel far in Wales to find an authentic family run Italian restaurant - Pizzeria Villaggio in Whitchurch is a great example of this with its comfortable ambience and delicious food. We started with an excellent ciabatta bread served with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic, it was a great flavour of balsamic and olive oil with crispy bread with which to start the meal. For starters I opted for Polpette Della Casa, two large balls of perfectly cooked minced beef in a tomato and cheese sauce – delicious. My partner had Funghi al Rosmarino lovingly chopped mushrooms in a rich and aromatic rosemary sauce. For mains I had a Calzone from the specials board - Calzone con pollo, chorizo e jalapeno – with a mixed salad. The crunch of the crispy dough was a delight and the chicken, chorizo and jalapeno filling provided peppery and chilli heat to warm the palette. The tomato sauce was great for dipping the calzone dough and it was no time at all before the calzone and the sauce was all gone – delightful. My partner had a Pizza Americano which now wins his prize as the best pizza he has tasted – and he is a pizza lover. Overall a wonderful meal. My partner completed the meal with an Italian Cheesecake, Italian Cheesecake, though the origin of the better known New York Cheesecake, is much more like a cake than its American equivalent. The ricotta in the cheesecake provided a rich and creamy texture which gave the dessert a perfect finish to the meal, with lashings of cream on top it was a dessert lovers dream. We completed the meal with two espressos. I’d strongly recommend the delicious food at Pizzeria Villaggio.

Hi! This is a messagge for Marco. I hope You remember me. It's been a long time since we met. This was in 2002. I went to Cardiff from Argentina and I was looking for a place to make some music. You received me very kindly and gave me a place on those monday nights with the great Dewi (WNO cellist who played guitar and sang beautifuly), and some other musicians (Even You sometimes played the snare drum). I just want to thank You immensely for that. Time passed but even so I always have the best memories of those days in which your help was vital for my arrival in the UK. I would like to give 3 and a half star's. Nice staff, pleasant food. But did not feel cosy. Felt uniformed sitting down and a bit cold. Some little flowers real or otherwise on table would pep things up with the candles lit. The walls r too bland as all the prints r black and white and colour of walls r dull. I know this is personal taste but just a thought. Lunchtime memu avaliable but really limited. No one appeared to have washed up in ages as a pile of dirty dishes were on the counter upon entering and leaving. It was practically empty when we came in and left. I know it may seem picky but in hot weather it will just attract flies especially with the door open 😝 Disabled/ ladies toilet is really awkward as loo is facing and very close to wall so mobility issues may be made worse. I did not see a baby changing room or high chairs. I would not crave to go back to be honest.

Mostly great. Pizza was perfect which is obviously the main thing, it was very busy when we visited and the service was a bit hit and miss (drinks forgotten, really quick starters really really slow mains), garlic pizza bread was just awful, dry dough with burnt garlic on, would have said at the time but no one checked in with us. All this might not have been an issue on a quieter night so we’d definitely go back again.

Very highly recommend this restaurant. A definite 5* all round! The food is outstanding, the service is spot on, the selection of Italian meals is perfect for me, the atmosphere is warm and friendly, the place is always clean... I genuinely cannot fault it (even the price is reasonable). Online booking made everything nice and easy, and even though we were running about 15 mins late (we phoned ahead), the restaurant were very accommodating and didn't apply any pressure to have us away from our table quickly (they do seem to allow plenty of time for your table booking). We will definitely be returning for another amazing meal - hopefully quite soon.

What can I say. The food is incredible here and the service to go with it. A proper Italian restaurant is hard to come by... This is a true gem. We had the seafood platter to start which was amazing. I then had a calzone with all the trimings, which was the best I've ever had and I've had a few.

Had a fantastic meal here last week. The food and wine were delicious, and the staff went above and beyond to cater for us, they even made me a pizza with vegan cheese even though it wasn't on the menu. A fantastic family run restaurant. I used to work and travel all over Europe and the US. People would ask me which is my favourite restaurant? With out a doubt it is Pizzeria Villagio. Love the takeaway service from this place, traditional Neapolitan style pizzas with generous toppings cooked to perfection, the pasta is al dente, Nonno's meatballs are amazing and if you have any room left then the home made sticky toffee pudding is delicious. We ordered and the food was delivered piping hot through the new Indie Eats delivery app. Very handy indeed.

Happy New Tier Everyone! 😂 So last night I had the absolute pleasure of being invited to try a local Italian restaurant in the heart of Cardiff @pizzeriavillaggio_ which is a an award winning pizzeria who as you can imagine do the most amazing Pizza's. 👉 Starters: Salsiccia Italiana- This dish is basically a spicy Italian sausage severed with a spicy salsa sauce, this was delicious I honestly could have had this as a main meal and been very happy. Polpette Della Casa- This is the traditional meatball starter dish you will get in most Italians quite simply meatballs and mozzarella cooked in a very tasty tomato sauce. We both agreed this was the best Meatball starter we've ever had. ... The bar was set very high on those starters so we very excited for mains.😁 👉 Mains: Americana- This was a no brainer of course me and the Mrs both opted for the pizzas. The normal Americana pizza includes quite simply mozzarella and pepperroni which looked great but we got drawn in by their extra toppings. The Mrs just added roast chicken but I added Italian sausage, chorizo and chilli. Now I've tried alot of pizzas over the years and this I can honestly say is one one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten it was genuinely that good, the tomato passata was super tasty but the meats they use on the pizzas are just packed with flavour. 👉 Desserts: So the Mrs opted for the 'Chocolate Brownie' with ice cream and I had the 'Sticky Toffee Pudding' with again ice cream, now at this point we thought starters were amazing, mains outstanding, could they really get 3 out 3 right? Well yeah they really did both desserts were incredible and you could tell they were homemade, The Sticky toffee pudding though was the winner. Just Wow that's all I can say. Conclusion: So this was my first visit to this beautiful place and all I can say is I must have been living under a rock all these years as everything about this place is outstanding from the decor, the warm and friendly staff and the food was incredible, I honestly cannot recommend this place enough. 👏 As soon as lockdown is over I will be one of the first people booking a table. 😜 #wayneseats

The food in this place is nice. I wouldn't say the best but for the price it's good. A little disappointed that there were no steaks on the menu but, to be fair, it's a pizza and pasta restaurant. Worth a go if you like Italian.

If you're looking for fancy expensive Italian food, Olympic service and rococo inspired furniture... Then walk on! If, however, you are looking for good, wholesome and tasty food, a large selection of food and a reasonable bill... This place is great! The Calzone I ordered came bursting at the seams with content. Some calzones are all bread and a small pile of meat in the middle not this place at all! Congratulations to the team for a down to earth , friendly service and compliments to the chef!

Visited here last night and the place was dead. Food ok and service good as there were hardly any customers! This restaurant was one of the 1st in whitchurch and seems to be suffering from all the new ones opening up down the road. Time to reinvent itself and make you feel like you're eating in an authentic Italian restaurant. Decor is too bright and furniture very cheap. Menu seems to be the same for the last 30 years or so. Adapt or die I'm afraid.

Seeing another review of the calzone here reminded me that I owe Marc n the crew a review of this fantastic offering. Disclaimer - I am related but that aside, I often try these in other places and I can absolutely guarantee you can’t be served a finer calzone than Pizza Villagios. Served with a side of delicious tomato sauce it has flavour sealed in a delightful pizza base clam like package that is both crisp and moist. Like the best pizza but more so.
