First time visit last week. Ordered garlic bread as a starter which unfortunately was a bit cooked up & dry. However I ordered one of their delicious pizzas for main. Can't remember the name but toppings were chicken salami & pepperoni with mushrooms. Absolutely gorgeous. Lovely plentiful toppings & tasty base. A compact restaurant but tasty pizza & good service. I would recommend & will be back!

This is the best Italian restaurant I have been to in Colchester. I have visited Italy many times, and it reminds me of the typical small, family-run restaurants that are all over Italy. The food is absolutely lovely, and very authentic. Everything is made from scratch, and you can really tell. The food is so much better than all those chain restaurants. You must try the tiramisu. The service was friendly, and efficient. The prices are reasonable. I'm only disappointed that I've lived in Colchester for years without knowing about this place!

Our Pre-cinema lunch on Saturday was a delight. It’s the second time I’ve been and it was as lovely an experience as the last time and certainly worth a glowing review. Staff were super friendly. The menu was what I’d expect from a good independent Italian (I noticed the the specials board was blank, but I imagine pre-covid would have been full of interesting and specialist seasonal dishes) pizza was delicious on our previous visit and this time I had a stuffed mushroom starter, delicious lasagne with side salad and a panettone dessert recommended by the waiter washed down by a rather nice fruity Sicilian white wine. Their Coffee espresso was particularly tasty with the dessert. It’s going to be an easy recommendation and I look forward to going back again and again.

We had the most amazing meal here yesterday. Miseria has a lovely atmosphere and such friendly owners. I had delicious vegan arancini and lasagna, my partner had equally delicious non-vegan food. Amazing freshly cooked, authentic food. Such a brilliant independent restaurant with so many options! The portions were plentiful and for such a good price too. It's a small restaurant, and my family was given the table where the door to the kitchen goes in n out. It was very inconvenient. The food was good. Customer service was friendly and the Chef comes out to check on every table.

Beautiful traditional family run Italian restaurant. Really good food, friendly staff and a nice setting. And reasonably priced. Suitable for families and couples. I'd suggest booking as there are not a huge number of tables. We will definitely be returning.

Caters for ALL Dietary requirements!! I suffer IBS and I am Lactose Intolerant and omg I can not rate this place enough! Friendly manager/owner, friendly chef. These are brothers running a quaint little Italian restaurant. Food was delicious and catered to ALL my annoying allergies. VEGAN OPTIONS AS WELL!! Food does not only taste amazing but its brilliant value, will be increasing slightly in September due to Brexit price increases. Food is fresh and the chef knows what he is doing! Owner/manager explained how he travels to London to source the meats and fish fresh. This has made my birthday that much more special. Extremely happy we chose here to try as we have never been here before.

A small restaurant in Colchester with pure Italian charm. Excellent food and drink much of it sourced from Italy by the brothers who own and run the business. Some real treats are on the menu and people travel from miles around to feast on them. Always a pleasant welcome.

Large portion sizes, from a menu offering a wide range of options. Service is friendly and personal. Not all dishes can be modified, so I suggest calling in advance if you have any changes in mind. The main courses were tasty though not exceptional. The dessert though was delicious, a white chocolate cheesecake which was soft and sweet, without being too artificial as many similar desserts can be. Odd that the card readers do not have an option for leaving tips, so take a little cash if you are so inclined.

THE BEST ITALIAN IN COLCHESTER AND TO ME IN THE WHOLE UK (we lived around London, in Kent, now up North- I have not yet found any at least comparable restaurant). Food is always fresh and delicious and tiramisu, and pistachio ice cream are to DIE FOR ❤️ We used to go there every week sometimes even twice a week, now that we moved we visit Giuseppe and Alfredo every time we are down south (every 3/4 months), even when we have to drive for 40-50min. We even buy cakes and food from them for special family occasions- CANNOT RECOMMEND ENOUGH ❤️

Wonderful restaurant, lovely food, amazing staff and very reasonable prices. This is our favourite Italian restaurant and we love it! Even took some vegan friends here for new years. We called up and let the restaurant know and they pulled out all the stops. Special vegan menu of amazing food (even I would go vegan for that quality of food) and even bought in vegan beer for our friends. The owner is very welcoming and friendly and the chef has a real passion for food. Visit this wonderful restaurant, it's a hidden gem.

The best, the finest and the most authentic Italian restaurant ever !!! We spend 3 days in the city and we eat 3 times here! I think there were staff shortages on the night we went so the chef / owner was also doing the waiting. Clearly he was rushed off his feet and it showed. My starter (arrancini) arrived cold in the center and the pizza (only 4 meatballs on it!) was average. Wine was lovely and atmosphere too.

As an Italian living in Colchester you can trust me on this one, this restaurant is really good. They have high quality fresh ingredients and craft authentic Italian meals that rival my grandmother's. Their pasta dough is nothing like any other you can find in Colchester. Definitely treat yourself to a cheesecake or Tiramisù - we really enjoyed these in particular. Great selection of wines too. The prices aren't higher than any Italian restaurant in Italy. The staff is very friendly too and the chef definitely loves what he does.

Ordered delivery from here. It's the first time I've tried Miseria e Nobilta and I'm happy to say that we will order again. Delivery was well within the 45 mins they had cited. Portion sizes were healthy (there were enough frites for 2 of us). And the pasta dishes were really tasty. Lastly, they are a small local business and so made my food all the more enjoyable during lockdown. Rather than ordering from the fatcats (McD's, Wagamama, etc), I can food-snooze knowing where my money went. My wife and I came here for our third wedding anniversary and Alfredo was extremely welcoming upon arrival and was very informative about the dishes available, the ingredients, and Colchester as a whole. It's a lovely restaurant that isn't so big that you'll be forgotten about or so small that you'll be hitting elbows with the neighbouring tables, it's the Goldilocks size. We had the mixed seafood platter and arancini balls to start, both were great. The fish tasted very fresh, my wife, being Greek was very impressed by this freshness of fish. For mains we had calves liver and seafood risotto. The calves liver was perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth, whilst the seafood platter again amazed us with its freshness. For the third, and final, course we had tiramisu and rum baba. I can honestly say that the tiramisu is the best tiramisu I've ever tasted, and was quite jealous that my wife had ordered it instead of me. Then I tasted my rum baba and I wasn't jealous anymore. Delicious! The meal was washed down with a bottle of montepulciano d'abruzzo and when the bill came we were pleasantly surprised. £84 for 3 amazing courses and a bottle of wine, would've happily paid double. Will definitely be going back again soon!

The best pizzas in Colchester can be found here at this small unassuming restaurant. Every single pizza I've had here has been astoundingly brilliant. Their signature pizza, the Miseria E Nobilta is delicious, a strong collaboration of exceptional flavours, and I highly recommend it! The Capricciosa is a very different beast, drawn together with fresh ham, artichokes and fresh olives . Their calzone a combination of different flavours perfectly balanced to create an amazing pizza experience. I could not recommend them more highly. :)
