Gorgeous food and attentive service for a huge party of nine of us. Food came out well presented and piping hot, and our server was always ready to clear the table, bring drinks and bring out the next dish. Between us, we covered most of the menu - calzones, leggera, pizza, lasagna, spaghetti, you name it - we had it! And they were all absolutely faultless, the same with the starters and desserts. Having only ever eaten in the main city centre Pizza Express, I feel as though I have missed out!

Been visiting this restaurant for years. This weekend we had our daughters 7th birthday party here with 11 friends. Chef Wayne and team were brilliant with the kids, made cracking pizzas and everyone had a lot of fun. My jalapeno dough balls and garlic prawn Romana were excellent. Thanks a lot.

Very happy with my dinning experience here. Very promt with seeing us to a table, giving us a menu, delivering our drinks and food and also taking payment. Waitress friendly and polite. Food was nicely cooked and what we ordered. Very tasty. The hot chocolate was good too. I asked for a pizza wheel and got one with the pizza (all places serving pizza should have this option). Tables were clean. Would recommend a visit.🍕

Good service, good food and it's very close to the Assembly Rooms car park. Kids really enjoyed eating here as the waitress actually asked the children what they would like instead of relying on the parents to make a choice.

I’ve been working here since April and I’m ashamed to say I’ve walked past this place so many times in search of ‘fancy restaurants’. I finally went in this week and am so disappointed I didn’t try it earlier. The food really belies the fact it is a chain, if you’d have told me I was in an independent Italian restaurant I would have believed it. I had the calzone and the chicken pesto on consecutive nights which were amazing. The ambience and location is lovely too. However what particularly made it was the staff - so genuinely friendly and helpful, I really enjoyed chatting with them which is nice when you’re working away from home on your own. I watched them help an elderly blind couple out from their table and they put them in the taxi which was lovely - above and beyond. A credit to Pizza Express. If I’m back down here this will be my first stop 👍

As a part of the Pizza Express chain this is pretty much the same dining experience you would expect to receive elsewhere. I visited as part of a group, and we were seated quickly despite not having booked. Our waitress was efficient and knowledgeable, and the food we received arrived quickly, and was delicious. The restaurant itself is quite large and in an older building with large metal support pillars throughout. A nice dining experience, in my opinion.

I like pizza so it's already great... we had an excellent meal here, the service was fantastic. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the food was quick and very good. Our waiter overheard that we were there for a birthday celebration so later he bought out a glass of sparkling wine each!

Derby pizza express and the usual comfortable surroundings creating a good friendly ambience. But on this lunchtime occasion the company has three of their HR Staff having a visit, but those that know hr will understand that they think they are above everyone else and on this day they made their voice well heard and appeared to ignore diners with what seemed to be which one could out do each in laughing the loudest. To top it all the three actually stood right behind where were seated and only moved when complained. Unfortunately their competive laughter continued for some time. We were given discount and an apology from an embarrassed manager but he should not have had to apologise for the actions of other pizza express staff and I can but hope their management reads this and rectifies policy to safeguard customers comfort. But I'll say that the food was all of an high quality as with the staff service and attentiveness. Fully recommended when their hr staff are not present!!!!

If you've ever been to a Pizza Express before, it's exactly the same. For a couple I'd say it will cost somewhere between £25-£50. Staff are helpful and attentive. Food tastes good and there is a lot of choice.

A high quality, Italian chain restaurant, Pizza Express in Derby's Cathedral quarter is in close proximity to local bars and pubs, as well as the theatres, making it a great jumping off point. The food here is always good, pizzas and pasta dishes are most of the menu, but are always very well prepared. Meals are also fairly inexpensive, expect to pay around the £40-50 mark for a couple.

Came in for the £5 O2 pizza deal. Delicious. I think the staff were a little disappointed that we couldn't be upsold but we were literally just popping in for a quick bite this time. Nice atmosphere, I particularly like the priceless Rembrandt which has had its eyes cut out and glowing blue spectacles inserted.

I'll take the Irongate restaurant over the Intu on in Derby any day. It's smaller but the tables are less crammed. The building is fantastic and the Hugh ceiling gives a good ambiance. Pop to the loo and learn about the Plimsoll Line. Dinner and local history. What more do you need? The food is as you know from Pizza Express.
