Never been in years, but really enjoyed the pizza, it was simply yet tasty. I had a Peperoni one and it was great, crispy crusty edges, not at all soft and served buy a lovely waiter. Enjoyed this very much.

Great ambience and food - calamari was perfectly seasoned and the tagliatelle was tasty and a very plentiful portion (basically got another meal as a leftover). Definitely will try and return as there were multiple courses I wanted to try!

This "local" Italianesque eatery was recommended by hotel staff during our stay in Edinburgh. A short walk from the hotel, it was tucked in a below street level location (to hide from the tourists, I think). A very nice find. And highly recommend 😋!

Few places serve food till late near the old Town, bar Napoli it's one of them. The food is ok (although I didn't like the tiramisù as it tasted as it wasn't homemade but rather bought in a supermarket) and the pricing definitely reasonable.

We was two VERY hungry coach drivers staying in the travelodge on Queen Street and the hotel reccomend this to us for dinner. It is a short walk from the hotel and the food is excellent!! Service is good but the bar has went downhill recently. Bar staff standing in groups talking to each other and on their phones, dressed very casually when they used to be in shirts before, drinking (non alcoholic) drinks behind the bar in front of customers.

I ordered spaghetti Napoli, and my pasta were very overcooked. I tried my husbands carbonara and it was less overcooked than mine. Overcooking pasta in an Italian restaurant is a no go. It’s a shame because the sauce was really nice and authentic.

My wife and I planned a day in Edinburgh just so we could enjoy this food again. The atmosphere of this wonderful underground restaurant is exactly what you need on any given night. This place is a must visit, everytime I'm in Edinburgh. Really good hearty food for a great price. Everything is freshly made and everything is delicious. The Tagliatelle Bar Napoli was hands down the best pasta I've ever had in my life. It was a mushroom, garlic, onion, tomato, cream, parmesan, sausage, pepperoni masterpiece. I had it with a glass of house red and I think you should too. My kid had the pizza and it was great too (they have a kids menu!). Service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere was lively. It's everything you want late at night with friends or a hungry family!

The staff is not very friendly as the restaurant is very crowded. On the window it's displayed that you won't get an entry without a mask but they don't really care. The food is not bad nor is it good. Have visited the place 3 times just to see if I may have formed an opinion too soon... But it was the same. The management needs to learn customer service.

This is a hidden local gem that you have to visit. We came late one night for a midnight dinner and the Risotto Mare was amazing. We'd never had so many clams, mussels, calamari in a dish o and a big perfect prawn to. The next night we came back at midnight again. She got the same seafood risotto but I had it on pizza with anchovies added too. Unbelievable. Go. If you are in Edinburgh, go to Bar Napoli.

I parade all the most charming of qualities and it's met with down frowned indignance. why do I go back?? why do I subject myself to such cruelty. well, firstly value for money. on the face it doesn't seem so. £9 for a plate of pasta?? seems steep. but honestly it's the size of your nug (eat in only). second, and most prominently, MANUELA. We had the best experience ever! We arrived for our reservation, however there had been a mix up with the tables and our table wasn’t ready. The lovely manager gave us a free garlic bread (which was in itself an entire pizza) to eat while we waited, which wasn’t even that long. Everyone was so smiley and it was such a warm, bubbly atmosphere. The food was delicious, the house wine was to die for, and to top it off we were given a free shot of limoncello! It took us back to our first holiday together in Venice, and it made it a very special evening! Thank you to everyone at Bar Napoli for giving us such an incredible time, especially the manager who served us and kept on checking up on us. We’ll definitely be back!

My wife and I tried Bar Napoli for the first time and we were not disappointed. We had the mussels and calamari to start which was very tasty followed by lasagne and a chicken mushroom pizza. We finished our meal off with a cheeky profiterole dessert which was awesome.The food was lovely but what made our evening was the service we received from Riad. Good old fashioned service with a smile. He made us feel very welcome and he was very attentive and friendly. Thank you Riad and to the Bar Napoli team for making our evening special. Lovely food and reasonably priced especially following the "Eat Out to Help Out" Government Scheme. However I did not feel comfortable with this restaurants Social Distancing during a ongoing pandemic and in addition the toilets were not very enjoyable. Please perhaps reducing seating for the safety of staff and customers :)

Been here about 5 times now and can't go past it as we have found it to be the best value for money. Yes we tried other Italian restaurants but keep coming back here. All your food is cooked open plan. And they always clean up after themselves. Upon arrival our welcoming gentleman greeted us with a warm smile and happy manner. The seating can be a tad tight upstairs so you will get the squeezing past yourself by staff or customers going to the restrooms. In everything that we have had from the menu we can't fault it one bit. Though my favourite is the steak and recommended a barrola red wine that complimented it perfectly.. We usually go to Edinburgh at least once a year and I'm looking forward to our next visit. It's a clean establishment.

My friends and I just wandering around the street looking for a place to have lunch and we saw the bar Napoli's menu. The price is fine and it's worth it after we had a cool lunch. (Sadly, we can't order the kids set😂) I just love this place so much, maybe it's because the waiters there are so nice, or maybe I dined with my friends. I will come back here if there's chance, not sure if we are welcomed or not because we have made a lot of noise 😂. There's always a room for improvement. I think the menu looks packed which makes a little difficult for us to see. Also, I've ordered a lasagne and it turned out to be a little bit soft. I enjoyed the meal but it can be better. It's good to have some chefs to cook beside customers. It really is an awesome experience to eat in here. Thank you ❤️

Since I work round the corner, I regularly go to Bar Napoli for their excellent value lunches. Starter main and desert for under £8. I went for dinner last week for the first time expecting the same food but at twice the price,however I found the portions were much larger. The staff were very attentive, food was served quickly and they were kind enough to bag up the huge amount of food that we didn't manage to eat!

Disappointing. We were booked for 12.30 yet were given the full menu, we had to ask for the lunch menu as this was not offered. Our table was very cramped. Staff had very little knowledge of gluten free meals resulting in a loss of confidence. There were no gluten free options on the lunch menu at all (we had two gluten free ladies). Waiters seemed friendly but unsure of what was happening, maybe it was too busy for them to run smoothly. The first and second courses were delicious (I had fungi followed by chicken and potatoes in creamy sauce). The desert was not of restaurant standard - better suited to a child's birthday party! (Tiniest piece of dry sponge with some squishy cream). Ladies toilets were disgusting. Very smelly with water and toilet paper all over the floors. Luckily I was having lunch with some lovely ladies - the catch up was great!!

Very friendly atmosphere and great food. The only down side for me is that it is not geared up for people with mobility issues as the access has stairs. I was helped down the few stairs and had to leave my walker folded up and tucked in at the entrance. The staff did keep an eye on it though. There were also stairs down to a mother level where the toilets were which meant I had to wait and find a disabled toilet somewhere else. Food is FABULOUS and value for money. I would have given 5 stars but no access set up for disabled customers is the only let down.

Finally went to this place last night with a bunch of mates. Surprised we managed to get a table for 8 at 8 on a Saturday night but they squeezed us in. We waited for ever for the menus but there was a decent choice. And, to top it off, the prices are actually pretty reasonable. The food itself is amazing. I was starving and could have ate anything if it was put in front of me. I quickly stopped eyeing up the candle when the food arrived. The pizza was just like the stuff I had in Milan. Also appears they have the same attitude as folk from Milan as they could have done with being a tad more attentive, but that's the only thing that let it down.
