Staff were really friendly. Having the half pizza and pasta is something I have always wanted to try and it didn't disappoint! The pizza was cooked beautifully and tasted amazing. The pasta was nice but there was a tiny bit too much sauce for my liking. Still worthy of 5 stars though! Prices were very reasonable aswell for busy City Street. Highly recommend.

First time in Edinburgh and found this little family owned restaurant. I ordered some Pasta and Garlic bread to go. When I arrived in my hotel 30min later the food was still hot. The portions are great and the food tastes delicious. Lovely Italian pasta from Nonna. I felt I was in Italy the friendliness and hostility was heart warming! Will definitely return with friends to sit inside.

Very popular restaurant in a good location. Welcomed and expertly looked after by the staff. The food is very good and there's plenty to choose from. A trip to the toilet is an experience in itself . There's an abundance of photos to look at whilst you descend to the lower level. Overall a thoroughly pleasant experience and will go back.

The Jolly is a timeless local landmark. The lunch menu is incredible value for money and, while there are fancier restaurants with finer foods, there’s no better place to meet up with friends and natter. Two 3 course lunches, half a litre of house red, and a flat white for under £30. Winner!

Went for family Christmas meal, 10 of us, it was very busy and quite squashed, but understanble, we ordered our drinks but alot of what we ordered off menu they didn't have, and took 40 mins for us all 2 receive our drinks, the heavier lady with curly hair who was doing the bar was absolutely horrendously slow, and unorganised, and not very pleasant, the young girl Courtney was an absolute star, brilliant worker, friendly and attentive, if she was not there it would have been a complete shambles. She also appeared with bottled cider for our group when we were told off other lady there was none. That wee girl needs a pay rise, we would go back but only because she made it a good experience

Best value meal in Edinburgh city centre, as far as I know - in most places you won't even get one course for £7.50, but Jolly's lunchtime deal gives you three! About 3-4 starters and 8-10 mains to choose from, good-sized portions. Choice of desserts very limited, but you can't have everything!

I love the Jolly and go regularly with family and friends. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, the staff are so lovely and we always have a great time. We have been unable to go recently due to the current restrictions but thankfully they are doing deliveries. We have just finished a meal of gamberoni delo chef, bruschetta verde, spaghetti bolognese and a half-and-half of spaghetti rossi and a ciccio pizza. Delivery was quick, lovely to see a friendly face, all of our food was hot and extremely tasty and great portion sizes. Thoroughly recommend!!

Had the most amazing takeaway from this well run establishment (even in lockdown) the owner, a fantastic character, Vito was up to his elbows in flour turning out the most amazing pizzas, light crispy base with just the right amount of topping, can't say enough about this authentic little establishment. I challenge any of the other log fired oven pizzerias to match the authenticity.

I can see why people like this place, Bustling and cheap. I myself like traditional places but the food has to be good too. The mussels were not fresh Scottish ones that’s for sure. No bread served with them either. The only good thing about the pizza was that it was log fired! Small portion of Lasagna was ok. Kids seemed to enjoy their pizza’s. The place is quite quirky which is good. All in all had a nice family meal just a bit disappointed with the quality of the food.

I ate here with a big group of students in a group travel plan about a week ago. The pizza was thin crust and crisp and very tasty. I completely enjoyed it. as part of a group they had fewer selections for the group meal but we still had the freedom to choose if we wanted what certain pasta and what toppings we wanted on our pizzas. They were very accommodating for a group of Versailles and it was really impressed. The rest of the menu was pretty extensive as well. It is a budget-friendly place and within walking distance of other major sites.

GREAT SERVICE FOOD I got the bruschetta to start with which was morish and had a lot going for it even though it was quite a simple dish. Decent garlic bread and freshish tomatoes. I also had a recommendation from the waiter to get this meat pasta. It was quite good. Very tomatoey 😁 PRICE For the amount you get, it's a very decent price. Starter and a main for £15 but they were huge portions which if you're hungry this is the place to be! SERVICE My friend and I couldn't finish our meal and the waiter was roasting us which was super funny. Really nice guy and the waitress was also friendly. Memorable service from this place

Our party of 10 visited this restaurant on a busy Saturday night and enjoyed a 3 course set meal at an unbelievably good price. The venue is a cosy and cramped, 80s decor trattoria. The food was really nicely cooked and extremely tasty. It was very loud the evening that we visited, there was a 50th birthday party next to us and I think that generally this place is both loud and busy. Not good for older people but fine for everyone else. Good bus access near by and great for a bite before the theatre.

Recently visited the Jolly with my family, BIG mistake!! Its been few years since I have eaten here, back in the day it was cheap & cheerful & the food wasnt bad but sadly the Jolly has not stood the test of time. The Jolly needs a DEEP CLEAN, the owner needs to take a step back & consider what he is offering & get the place cleaned up. The pizza dough was sour & the difference between a 12 & 14 inch pizza was simply an extra 2 inches of sour dough with no filling. As for the drinks, I was driving & ordered a soda & lime, the drink was flat & tasted foustie, I had a couple of sips & left it. Some of my party wanted draught beer but there was none, disappointing to say the least. I certainly will not be visiting the Jolly again. In addition to the uncleanliness of the restaurant one of my party had mild food poisoning for two days following our visit to the Jolly. All in all a very disappointing, unpleasant experience we shall not be repeating. Disappointed Customer.😠😠

Ahh good old Jolly. I visited Jolly when I was in Edinburgh almost eight years ago. In my late attempts to construct a scrapbook from that trip I came across some pictures from our time here and had a good laugh. My friends and I remember this restaurant fondly. We were in awe of the giant pizzas you served us thinking that they were one for the whole table; to our delight each person got one. Google didn't have reviews back then so I thought to look up the restaurant and see if it was still around. I'm glad to see it still is and I hope to come back soon. You guys are awesome!

A typically Italian, family, restaurant. The decor is mostly based on shows from the near by theater with a mixture of faux Italian murals and pictures of fans and news articles. Where this restaurant excels, and really where it matters, is the food. All the meals are rich and filling with the Pizza being the standout. We often go for Half Pizza/Half Pasta with the Lasagna being a personal favourite. The service is pleasant and speedy generally, at busy times it slip a little, and I would recommend you book up for weekends if you want to guarantee space for more than 4 people.

A real old style Scottish Italian family owned restaurant situated at the top of Leith Walk. Yes it needs a lick of paint, but actually when I think about it, its lack of pretentious decor is exactly what I love about it. It's no nonsense, what you see is what you get - good honest food. More importantly the food is very tasty, good quality, generous portions, and it won't cost you a fortune [a rarity in Edinburgh]. Pizzas are from a traditional wood fired oven, seafood tagliatelle was a delight. Desserts are made on the premises - not those pre-frozen rock hard lumps of concrete that seem to pervade every cheap eaterie in the UK. What isn't to love about that?!! The service was prompt, the staff attentive, and very friendly. I have visited several times, and have never been disappointed.

Just want to say a big thankyou to The Jolly Restaurant( Manager and Staff) for all your help for my son Ryan 18th birthday meal celebration, he had a great time.The Jolly has great customer service (friendly staff), excellent food, really nice and tasty (excellent valve for money), big thankyou to the chef as everyone commented on how great the food was and the manager how quick the service was, as there was 24 adults and 8 children plus 1 baby attended, would recommend this restaurant to anyone, Thankyou again and will be back soon. There are a lot of Italian eateries in Leith, especially on Leith Walk. But Jolly's beats them all in terms of food quality, service quality, and price. Every time! Their food are prepared fresh on site by chefs that have worked there since I was a child, and Vito the waiter-extraordinare has been there for as long as I can remember, cracking awful jokes in the best way possible and making sure you're always happy. Going back to Jollys is like going to catch up with old friends, even the first time you go! They'll also do a half-pizza/half-pasta combo that's good if you're finding it hard to choose :)

Have dined at the Jolly Risorante many times. A typical Italian Restaurant as you would find anywhere in Italy. A family run restaurant, with excellent food at reasonable costs.Personal service is swift and cheerful. Perhaps the decor looks a bit tired, but you go here for the food, not the way it looks. With 45 different types of pizza. pasta, fish and meat I cannot fault the value or the menu choice. Prwesumably some of the other reciews here have been writen by local opposition restaurants.
