Reviews of La Favorita
A. G.
I think La Favorita has gotten better over the years, and that means starting from a high place. My initial exposure to the restaurant was opening night when I was offered "the best pizza in Edinburgh".
Well! That's quite a claim but La Favorita is absolutely a contender.
Furthermore, La Favorita might be a bustling pizza place in Leith Walk but it offers more than just pizza, and those options are good too! It's this diversity of menu that makes the restaurant a great choice for groups.
The pizza here isn't just good, but there's lots of options including multigrain bases which are more flavourful but not as crisp as the traditional proper base. I rather like them.
Tip: It's quite a walk and down many steps to the loos. I've done it on my walking stick but advise you to find the accessible toilets on the ground floor instead.
I think it's worth talking about the high quality of friendly staff as well as the food. We're not just talking smiles (not that I can see them these days behind the suitably worn safety masks) but diligence and ability too. Over the years I've seen familiar faces, I suggest therefore staff are treated well, stay on and we benefit from their experience.
Tip: Ask about the specials. Staff, especially if they know you, will have opinions and recommendations. Most sections of the menu will have a special.
La Favorita deliver too, and they have their own app (and site) where you can customise your pizza. I've used it many times to order for lactose intolerant friends. It's never been a problem and you earn brownie points if you can offer someone who can't easily eat cheese a way to have a pizza.
The branded cars, once a familiar feature in Leith, aren't used any more. Delivery drivers are now employed directly, and I've been reassured about their wages.
In all, La Favorita is easy to recommend. The only potential negative is that the popular restaurant might be too busy for your tastes, but book ahead, pick a time wisely and you can reduce that risk. That's what I do.

Delicious authentic Italian cuisine, you don’t need to go to Italy to taste the best. Staff are friendly, definitely will go back when in Edinburgh.

Absolutely amazing italian food! One of the best ones we had outside of Italy so far. Portions were very big for the price you pay. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere inside the restaurant was really nice. I reccommend going there if you want to try delicious food.

We opted to deliver (Deliveroo) for our first time trying this place, and it was so amazing. The service was very quick (though it was a Tuesday evening), and our food was delicious - the best pizza in Edinburgh. We got the Capricciosa and the Montanara, plus the Arancini. The Montanara had truffle oil that was just *chef's kiss*. The Arancini could have been netter, but was still delicious. I am looking forward to going for a sit-in dinner soon! Also, they have vegan (no vegan cheese), vegetarian, and gluten free options.

If you are looking for real Italian experience in Edinburgh, then this is the place for you. Amazing pizza and cocktails. The crust was authentic and staff really welcoming. Complimentary amis bush was a pleasant suprise.

Amazing pizza. Makes a nice change to usual popular neopolitan style. It has all the good elements of napoli pizza but with a thinner base. Light pizza with gorgeous creamy mozzarella. Friendly service. Draught pints of Morretti for around £5. What more could you want?
Only criticism is pizza seemed slightly overpriced but having tried 0 other local pizzerias, I cannot compare prices.
