Reviews of Origano Cafe & Pizzeria
A. P.
One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve ever been to (and I’ve been to Italy at least 5 times). In a non-pretentious way it offers a modest menu, but both dishes were fantastic. We ordered the pizza Pompei and the meat lasagna. It was really delicious and not heavy.. we simply devoured it! The place is decorated in a rustic way, an interesting combination of Italian and Scottish vibe. Price for value is great.
T. A.
Sensational food and highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. Something for all on the menu and there is wide selection on offer.
The pizzas are cooked to perfection and the fungi bruschetta was a really great starter.
Service was very friendly, booking recommended.
H. F.
Had a lovely meal, my wife (Coeliac) said the gluten free pizza was excellent (cooked in same oven but on a raised grill, everything cleaned in preparation to avoid cross contamination). Lasagne and house salad were delicious, as was the wine and beer. Great service and a real buzz to the place. Apparently child friendly but our 3 year old crashed and slept through dinner!
F. M.
Probably one of my favourite pizzerias in Edinburgh. Always a warm welcome and delicious pizzas.
Only wish they would offer vegan cheese as an option. Not for me as I'm not vegan but have vegan friends and would love to be able to bring them there!
J.
Really good pizza at decent prices. There is a vast selection to choose from. I would make sure to book in advance as it gets quite busy. Would get 5 stars but the service was lacking slightly.
S. L.
Great for meeting up with some old friends, the staff were pleasant and attentive, 3 of us had the pizzas which were delicious, one had a pasta dish which she felt was a little bland but tried my pizza and regretted not ordering one.
The atmosphere was good for conversation and the prices very good for the quality.
Would definitely recommend the pizzas which were some of the nicest I've had in the UK.
A. K.
Didn't have reservation but still got seated, their pizzas were awesome, true stone oven baked sourdough.
J. M.
This lovely restaurant has a fitting placement in the middle of vibrant Leith Walk. Food and ambience are just great but it’s the service that excels. Warm, personal and professional. I had an outstanding meal today with family and we are all raving about our experience.
T. J.
The food was actually pretty good. Delicious pizza and cannelloni. The homemade bread was lovely. But the service was a bit cold verging on vrry rude. Our table was extremely sticky, so much so our napkins were stuck to it. When we raised this the hostess offered no apology and just said its the varnish . I took a little bit of water on my napkin and wipped it myself. Guess what, it was less sticky. I don't know why we got the dud table. If the service had been friendlier or more considerate maybe I would agree with other reviewers.

A cozy and relaxing place where delicious food and atmosphere are top notch! We usually dine in when we visit Edinburgh as they offer great variety of the most popular Italian dishes as well a nice assortment of salads to suit everyone's needs. We shared a pizza, which was delicious but I was pleasantly surprised by the freshness and crunchiness of the salad! A place worth visiting!
P.
Arrived late and they fitted us in! Best tasting pizza you'll find I'm sure and generously sized home made puddings.
C. A.
Great gluten free pizza. They can accommodate for GF starters as well - we had bruschetta, which tasted good but the bread part was very tough to eat. Would probably not go for that again. I went for Quattro Formaggi GF pizza. The base and topping tasted great. The pizza was enormous, as you can only get the 14 inch gluten free, and dwarfed my fiancé's 11 inch regular pizza. He had some of mine, but we still brought almost half home in a box! For dessert I had a GF orange & ricotta sponge cake which I enjoyed a lot and would have again, but maybe with some vanilla ice cream on the side. All in all a great experience and would definitely come back!

Very delicious food, nice and polite staff and lovely atmosphere. It was the first restaurant I’ve been after the lockdown. I would say they are really cautious about hygiene. They regularly sanitized their hands. They also did changed our cutlery and sanitized our table after each meal. Quite satisfied.
C.
Superb pizza! The restaurant is small and can get quite busy even on a weekday evening, so best call ahead if you can. The service was friendly and attentive. We ordered olives and the bruschetta funghi, two pizzas, a small caesar salad, and tiramisu for dessert. All that plus two Cokes and two americanos (after meal treat) only ran us £50. Everything we ordered was incredible. The pizza is thin crust wood fired, and the ingredients and tomato sauce were flavorful and balanced. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic, so I definitely recommend this place for a nice date night.
G. J.
Great value for the top tier quality of food on offer. One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been to in Edinburgh.
A. N.
Lovely fresh Italian food, wine was lovely, pizza filling, dessert exquisite. Not particularly expensive at all but can't call it cheap too. Lovely staff, nice vibe.
T. M.
Possibly the best pizza I've ever had, I couldn't recommend this place more. The pizza dough is delicious and no matter what the toppings, you can't go wrong. The hardest part is choosing.
E. W.
Didn't have a booking but they managed to squeeze us a table. Lovely inside, service was friendly and food was tasty can't fault
D. C.
Wonderful place! Their bread is amazing, their rocket (arugula) salad was super crisp, and the lasagna is some of the best I have had! The pizzas are great and would recommend this place to anyone!
J. M.
We had read good things about this place & it was certainly worth the very long walk to get there from Leith's shopping complex.
The pizzas were lovely & it was great that they offered pizza halves as an option. Great service too
R. F.
Amazing pizza at a reasonable price. In fact, best pizza in town I'd say.
Well-made, good quantity of topics (some pizzerias are stingy), the dough was great... I only have good words for this restaurant.
Service was attentive and nice.
Book in advance as it always seems to be full.
R. W.
Best pizzas, lovely atmosphere and great staff.
N. H.
Delicious pizza, very friendly staff, always a nice trip. Also very kid friendly.
R. M.
Visited on a whim when out with friends and was pleasantly surprised, lovely fresh pizza, good service and great value
F. W.
The pizza was very good. They have good options for allergies!
The staff was friendly and gave us good service.
I'd advice to book in advance when you want to have your pizza inside the restaurant!
i. n.
Really wonderful spot for a dinner with friends or a date night, service couldn't have been more attentive and the 11" was comfortably enough for one
G. D.
A lovely atmosphere, brilliant service and amazing pizza!
S. S.
I was expecting more from other reviews.
Seating was ok, and whilst we were in the corner it did feel like we were crammed in. Feels like there is maybe one table too many squeezed in. One pram blocked up food service and access to the toilets (which were fine).
Service was ok, a bit too stand-offish, I felt we were being processed through the restaurant clockwork.
Wine list is ok though staff knowledge was lacking - one wine was in-stock, out of stock then back in-stock. My friends enjoyed some of the drafts.
Menu is a far too long, offering what looked like every possible combination of the same ingredients, it looked more like it was from a 90's greasy Chinese takeout menu than something fitting the quality ambience. The restaurant offers a gluten free base which tasted great.
3 of us had different pizzas with chilli on it and it may as well have been the same pizza as the chilli was so overpowering that tasting any other ingredient was impossible serving only as different texture. 1 of our group got a pizza with a base that was definitely on the burnt side of authentic crispy.
The staff discounted our bill rather than return things to the kitchen.
Having had a pick at the others pizzas the ingredients varied in quality. The meats were great, the fish appalling, the veg was fine.
Overall a 'meh' experience. Feels like the management have taken their eye off the ball - staff need training in the drinks, the menu needs simplified, the ingredient's need to be balanced out for quality and flavour valance, the seating layout needs tweeked.
E. S.
One of the best pizzas in town. Never disappoints!
S. F.
Lovely food, great drinks, nice atmosphere and brilliant service!
M. A. H.
We went to Origano for dinner our first night in Edinburgh as it was highly recommended by our AIRBNB host. The pizza was amazing and the staff were so attentive and helpful! We had the Milano pizza and orange ricotta cake for dessert. It was a wonderful place to start our adventure in Edinburgh.
D. G.
Great food and great pizza dough, very recommended
L. C.
Gorgeous pizza, really good wine list, reasonably priced and friendly staff.
H. D.
Passing by, the restaurant looked very appealing and thankfully they had table. Food was delicious; staff were very friendly.
L. M.
Very busy. Have to book a table. Vegans can bring in their own cheese for a pizza.
a. o.
Pizzas are amazing but it is let down by the fact you have to order through Justeat of you want to pay by card and they're a bunch of thieves. They took the money for a £70 order I cancelled and wouldn't refund me.
J. H.
Visited this beautiful place for the first time yesterday, Meatballs and all food tasted devine 😋 It was so delicious that I got pizzas delivered tonight, 😋 long life customer now, warm welcoming place. Wine is great, what more could you ask for 😊
J.
I booked a table last minute in a Friday, our flight was running extremely behind schedule so we called to let them know as we knew they had a table in after us. They were extremely accomodating, and let us order ahead of time with no stress. Thank you guys for your amazing service!
H. S.
Food was great. Highly recommend.
Very friendly staff.
Accommodated us last minute.
s. p.
Good food and excellent service. Limited menu, but the pizza was just par excellence and so was the bruschetta. Weekends are super busy so book beforehand.
Had some misunderstanding with my booking but they were very kind to accommodate me at the time I wanted, so extra brownie points for that.
J. A.
Fantastic Italian antipasti followed by marvellous authentic pizzas. Service is always excellent and quick and the atmosphere is lovely. One of the best Italian places in Edinburgh.
C. H.
The best pizza and town and the staff are amazing every-time!
P. M.
Only one improvement I would've liked is a broader drinks menu but otherwise I loved it.
Quality of the food is very good.
The pizza is top notch with interesting toppings.
The decor has a nice balance between modern and traditional and the atmosphere was great for a Tuesday, they were obviously busy but the service was good and it still felt cosy.
A. S.
Very good menu, lots of choice especially for pizza. Very good choice of wine. Good atmosphere and at a good price, definitely Edinburgh prices. Staff was very pleasant. Will good back again.
G. H.
I ordered a vegan pizza because I was doing veganuary and they gave me a vegetarian with no cheese. I was sceptical but it was absolutely delicious. The pizza here is fantastic.
H. W.
Food was delicious and fresh.
Nice romantic atmosphere - candlelit and really cosy.
M. C.
One of the best pizzas I've ever had, in one of the nicest restaurants. Cosy and warm without feeling like you're sitting on anyone else's lap. Attentive service, and my god the food. Absolutely spectacular pizza.
G. C.
Amazing food and very nice staff. I really recommend the food and also the atmosphere very cozy and relaxing.
叢.
Great place for a good pizza. Friendly and happy staff. Enjoyable visit. I do recommend booking, but they take walk ins sometimes.
T. B.
Fantastic food!
A. K.
Top pizza and great staff.
L. B.
Lovely fresh and tasty pizza. My girlfriend was able to have a gluten free base as she's celiac. Said it was one of the best she's ever had. Highly recommend.
L. L.
Worth it! The pizza was superb and a big portion of antipasto
S. S.
Loved the pizzas and the staff was so courteous. Being spice lovers, we obviously had to ask for more chilli though and were offered the same very promptly.
I hope we didn't offend the Chef ☺️
J. L.
THE BEST pizza in Edinburgh. Great relaxed atmosphere and service. A new favourite!
A. D.
great real pizza restaurant, good toppings and nice atmosphere
P. S.
Fabulous little spot fabuloud pizza great service also
G. C.
Bold statement- I've eaten pizzas in five continents, but the best I've ever tasted is at Origano in my home town of Edinburgh. Add friendly and slick service and a balanced drinks list and you have heaven. Just like mamma used to make. Try it
D. L.
All round great place. The starters are sublime!
S. L.
Amazing. Authentic wood fired pizza. Simple.
A. A.
This place always looked inviting when we walked past and finally we got round to going. It lived up to the impression from outside. The atmosphere is great, warm, low lighting, candles. Tables are well spaced, so it doesn't feel crowded. The pizzas are great. There's a good choice, and the quality is good. Staff were helpful, present when you needed them, but never intrusive. Takeaway available!
S.
The pizza was amazing.
It was honest, authentic and tasty.
We were told via email that we could only have the table for 90 minutes, but it took them 30 minutes to take our drink and main orders.
My one note to the owners would be that by the time we had finished the mains (after the long wait to order) it didn't feel like we had long enough to order desserts, so we went home without.
I'm sure it must have been because it was a busy Saturday night, so I will happily give 5 stars because we were incredibly happy with what we had.
K.
My favourite pizza place, their pizzas are to die for! Fresh ingredients, very tasty, always freshly made - you can see the kitchen from the customer area. I’ve been to Origano many many times and I never had a bad one. They’re consistent and passionate about food. Hope that won’t ever change!
A. L.
Went there last night without booking. The place was full and there were people at the bar area waiting for tables. The man who welcomed us moved stuff around an. Made some space for us at the bar for us to join the waiting list. We ordered some snacks and drinks at the bar which arrived very quick. Soon after we had our table. We ordered a couple of pizzas and we waited. It took a bit of time but very reasonable. Expected for a traditional pizza place. All tasted very fresh. The staff was very friendly and quick.
The price was reasonable for the quality. Definitely recommend this place.
A. E.
The best pizza I’ve had in a very long time, lovely seating and lighting, great wine and great service!
D. C.
Fantastic pizza, served by friendly staff in a relaxed and stylish atmosphere. There are some really interesting toppings on the menu, my own favourite is the aptly named "The Fiery Prawn One" which has spicy prawns (obviously) along with nduja, lemon and garlic. It's super tasty. They also do takeaway and delivery, but the restaurant has a really cool vibe so I'd recommend booking a table when possible.
B. G.
The best starters ever, pizza's are amazing too. You should add more options for the takeaway.
G. M.
The ambience of the restaurant is lovely, dark, low lit, cosy, romantic. The pizza was really good. Only reason I'm not awarding it 5 stars is because my choice of pizza wasn't as good as I'd hoped. But that was because I started messing around with the toppings, removing & adding to it. Overall, a really lovely little place. The staff were nice too.
E. T.
Good pizza, nice atmosphere, helpful waitresses. You can order 2 half pizzas of two different types, a nice idea which allows you to try to pizzas in a single order. There are three sizes starting at 11 inches (which should do for a normally hungry person).
J. M.
A romantic pizzeria; low lighting, soft furnishings, warm colours. Kitchen is open and you can see them work. Very tasty pizza and good wines, all very reasonably priced. Two pizza and wine was just under £40. Staff were very happy and helpful.
B. M.
Lovely food and lovely staff. Highly recommended.
A little difficult to get to if not familiar with the area due to ongoing roadworks and road closures, worth looking into before travelling.
E. V.
I love this pizzeria. The decor is great, the staff is very nice and the pizzas are delicious. Even the Gluten Free option is nice
R. M.
I was told to go here by a friend. Thank. Goodness! Very good looking place. Comfortable with great service. Most importantly, the pizza is downright fantastic. Perfectly cooked with slightly charred crust, great ingredients and phenomenal flavor. If in Edinburgh, a must!
E. M.
Was part of a group booking here. We had a great time, with delicious food (the pizza was outstanding) and excellent and very attentive service. Would love to be back!
M. H.
The pizza here is my favourite in Edinburgh! Always fresh, delicious and arrives quickly. This being said, whenever we come here it is always the mixed platter that I look forward to as a starter- the bread and meats are fantastic. The staff are friendly and professional and the restaurant has a lovely cosy atmosphere. Highly rated.
S. P.
I came across this place based on reviews from Timeout. Having booked this place a few weeks prior to my visit, I was told I would have to give the table back within 1.5 hours. This suggests the place is very busy and in high demand. On arrival, we were told we could have the table for as long as well liked. The waitress was attentive, and did not feel rushed in ordering food. The starters were amazing, and pizza was delicious. As far as pricing goes, it was all very good value for money. I would recommend this place to any one looking for a good Italian meal at reasonable price's. I would definitely be visiting again on my next visit to Edinburgh.
E. S.
Been there more than once. Great pizza with a soft dough and a choice of different sizes. Only complaint is about the too dark atmosphere that requires a phone torch to read the menu
D. H.
There was a good selection of vegan food and it was delicious, the service was outstanding. Not to mention the price of the food was very reasonable too. Plus the decor and ambience of the restaurant was fantastic. I'd definitely visit Origano again.
P.S. Did you know they also have a smaller restaurant catering more for take-aways. It's definitely worth a visit!
r. m.
Came here on saturday for a birthday lunch and could not have enjoyed it more. Super friendly atmosphere in a small but perfectly formed restaurant, the staff were lovely and patient when we took too long chatting and not deciding what we were having! And the pizza, the pizza is good, lovely fresh toppings and great selection to choose from. The antipasti board was a highlight as well. Would highly recommend going here and getting away from the dull chain pizzerias.
C. R.
The staff here are the friendliest and most charming I have seen in Edinburgh. They couldn't have been nicer, and were very patient as one of our group was running late. Good pizzas too. I just about managed a whole 16" pizza on my own. Very cosy place, would be good for dates.
C. C.
Amazing Pizza! Definitely the best pizza I've had in a very long time. Staff are brilliant and extremely good service despite been very busy! Recommend booking to ensure a seat !
J. P.
Brilliant pizza, but a bit pricey
O. L.
Johnny was an amazing host, catered to our every need! Food is great and I felt very special on my birthday! Thank you.
J. C.
Awesome! What a find!
Amazing staff.
Amazing restaurant. Lovely atmosphere.
Amazing pizza.
Excellent. If you have not been yet, then you are missing out. Book your table!
Superb.
Thank you!
S.
Loved the pizza and the place has its own atmosphere which is unique and very comfy.... probably due to the amount of cussions around... One star less for the fact we had to wait long to be served and needed to call staff twice. But to be honest the place was packed so can't fault anyone. Recommended
E. C.
Lovely atmosphere on candle's light and all well presented place.
The main reason to be there is obviously their pizza: soft and light as you would expect with the Napulean's tradition.
A suggestion: while not strictly necessary, try to book you table in advance since it can be busy
B. H.
Best pizza we've ever had in Edinburgh! Staff's very polite, friendly & accommodating!
Highly recommended, will be back!
Btw: our 2,5year old just chew down on the whole 7"pizza! Yum!
V. B.
The pizza was excellent! Make sure you go early as it is always full!
D. M.
Well made pizzas using quality seasonal toppings in an Italian style, with tasty salads and extras. The wine list is limited, but great for pizza. Staff are very friendly and accommodating.
E. H.
Absolutely to die for wood fired pizza on Leith walk. We got two different pizzas and both flavour profiles were fantastic. The setting is great with tall glass at the front of a large dining room, busy but didn't feel crowded or loud. Service was great.
P. R.
Best pizza I've had for a long time, the service was spot on and a lovely atmosphere for an intimate dinner date with the missus.... 10/10 👍❤️😊
S. R.
I've been in love with Origano ever since I visited for the first time over six months! THE PIZZAS ARE SENSATIONAL. The selection of toppings is just the best and they do vegan options for those who prefer animals as pets instead of food:))) If you haven't been there yet, you have to visit at least once (although I doubt you won't return)
A. S.
Always like going here. Very cosy surroundings although it can get a little noisy at times. That said the pizza is delicious and the staff are very friendly as well.
A. P.
First had their pizza while grabbing pints at The Joker and the Thief. Finally went to their restaurant and had a lovely time. Their pizzas are delicious--my favorite is the Calabrese. Their salads are also pretty tasty. Enjoy!
R. P.
Always delicious pizza. Lasagne is the best I've tasted. Good wine selection could do with more beer. Takeaway is as good as restaurant. Staff are really friendly. First choice for Italian food in Edinburgh for me.
M. Z.
Very nice vintage décor inside. Food was served quickly and tasted rather nice though I wasn't blown away by the pizza (quite bland) the lasagna on the other hand was just heaven! Would definitely recommend that over the pizza. Also staff were nice and friendly.
K. G.
absolutely delicious pizza. its not cheap here but the quality of the pizza and toppings is amazing. they use a sourdough base - which is unusual but really nice and adds a delicious flavour to the pizza. it is thin and crispy...how pizza should be. booking advised.
N. W.
Amazing pizza and really friendly staff. Always a nice atmosphere. GF crusts available too!
J. W.
Amazing Gluten Free pizza!!! I am italian and always complained about gluten free pizzas, but this one is great! Only available middle size. Can't order GF online but via phone if u want it delivered. A few tables if u want to eat at location
C. G.
This place is so good. Some of the best pizza and nice environment. Could do with a little more light though. Watched a group of people use torches to read the menu.
a. p.
Nice friendly bistro type restaurant
H. B.
I had one of the best gluten free pizza here, Gambo Piccante so good and it was not like a GF pizza the base was do light and crispy... my husbands pizza was also delicious judging by the mmmmss... We had mixed olives to start which were a deight. The only negative we had was the lighting...It was a very wet night when we went and it is a lovely cosy space but we struggled to read the coloured paper menu 👀👀 cannot wait to go back.
M. M.
Best pizza ever!
The atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant and romantic. We came several times with my boyfriend and it has always been amazing. The pizza's dough was perfect and super soft. There is a large choice of pizzas so it is sure you will find something you like. If you like spicy food, try the Calabrese. Deserts are delicious too, especially the banoffee (even without the ice cream).
Marion and Alex, the two frenchies. We will really miss this place.
K. H.
Cracking service, delicious food, delightful atmosphere, I couldn't fault it. We started with the meat platter which was exquisite then shared half of a seafood pizza and the most delicious creamy mushroom pasta. It is BYOB which is fabulous and totally affordable, can't wait to go back :)
A. C.
Very cosy place on Leith walk, with a great atmosphere and skilled pizzaioli. They have a wood fire oven and the pizza is very good. The prices are on average, based on the size you choose. They offer 3 pizza sizes for every stomach.
Will come back
H. C.
It was ok but the service was a little bit slow. We ordered garlic bread to come with the pizzas but the garlic bread arrived and 15 mins later we were asked if we were ready for the chef to prepare our pizzas... I had ordered a salad and asked for all the dressings to come separately however the salad arrived covered in oil. As I said it's ok but not what we expected
I. T.
I gave Origano a great review about a year ago before they opened their new location. Unfortunately, I ordered from them and the experience wasn't as good as what I have enjoyed at their first restaurant. The pizza and antipasti weren't worth the £30 I paid for. Will need to visit them at their new location, but until then I can only downgrade my review to 3 stars
C. G.
Outstanding food and wine. Waiting staff can be a little sarcastic sometimes
A. H.
Brilliant pizza, amazing service, thank you for you hospitality we will get back soon!
E. R.
Lots of pizza options.
D. R.
Probably the only pizzeria in Edinburgh that is really close to the real thing. Happy with timings and service too. And I always apply common sense to my expectations. i e: if I order a pizza on a Friday or Saturday evening tea time i do not expect it to be delivered on time although the restaurants are trying hard t do so.
L. M.
Excellent dining experience. Stunning food.
S. W.
Extremely tatsy, had the mixed antipasti and two pizzas. All were delicious, a little pricey but for the taste and portion sizes I couldn't complain!
D. S.
I love origano. Been going here on and off since I moved to Edinburgh. Such a nice place with fantastic staff and incredible food.
I've tried a variety of things on the menu and haven't found anything bad. Though mostly pizza based, the salads are also just as good. The pollo salad in particular is delicious.
If i had the option, I would choose origano every time. I've also used their take away service once or twice and while it is better sitting in, it is still great.
A. C. F.
Best authentic Italian pizza I've ever had. hands down, no doubt
M. A.
As a pizza fanatic I can without a doubt say this is one of thee best pizza places in Edinburgh in fact...Scotland! The restaurant is very shabby chic which I like the staff are lovely and welcoming aswell...the only downfall is they should have more things on there lovely menu but apart from that it’s fab!
R. F.
Best pizsa I have ever had in Edinburgh. It's just perfect. I brought my friend to this restaurant and she was amazed by it. Loved it!
T. F.
Fantastic phrases and very friendly staff. Origano is deservedly busy at the weekend, but the recently opened larger premises and reopening of the original Origano as a takeaway/delivery hub should mean getting a table doesn't take long. Highly recommended.
h. d.
The last time I was here I made the bold choice of saying that this was the best pizza in Edinburgh. I was there last night and stand by that comment. The pizza is amazing, the service is first class and the atmosphere is second to none.
H. B.
Excellent pizza probably the best I've ever tasted busy place really need to book I was there on a Tuesday evening at six and was already getting busy we left at 7.30 and it was packed by then. I dont eat pizza often but could be persuaded if this was the place on offer
J. D.
Always great pizza and great vibes and lovely staff. The tiramasu is also fantastic
J. C.
Green salad side dish really fresh and just the right size: lasagne bianca (non-meat) delicious and creamy but didn't feel heavy. Usually I'm not into pasta or pizza but do recommend this place.
M. H.
Excellent locally owned pizza joint.
Longstanding Leith Walk fixture that recently expanded into a larger premises.
Good toppings, greet dough all fired in a traditional pizza oven.
M. S.
Great pizzaria. Thay cook thier pizzas in a wood fired oven wich looked very nice and enjoyed by all. They also do filling salads of wich I had the ceaser salad. The staff were very accommodating and modified my salad to my own dietary needs. They also provided colouring in matrials for our child which kept her occupied until her pizza arrived.
As for the atmosphere, it was very relaxed and we didn't feel rushed in anyway.
Great pizzaria and great staff. I would definitely come back.
H. M.
Came on the recommendation of a friend who adored the previous premises and neither of us were disappointed. Antipasti boards are humongous and delicious. Pizzas also super tasty. Staff were lovely and friendly and helpful.
G. R.
Lovely food well worth a visit
M. B.
An interesting Italian restaurant & bar set near the foot of Leith Walk. Excellent beers but a limited selection on draught.
Great food reasonably priced.
Well worth the journey from Edinburgh City centre to find a place with character.
P. N.
Fantastic Pizza! Well worth a visit, attentive staff, wide range of flavours available, and cooked in a proper pizza oven. Great to chat with friends and watch the chefs spinning dough
K. S.
Fabulous pizza, we were given the large quirky rhombus shaped booth table. Great service and lovely vibe at a quiet Sunday lunch service.
A. P.
Ok experience, terrible pizza.
I cannot understand how can people recommend its pizza.
The service is good as is the ambience. The antipasto was nice, but not great.
The pizza was handmade but had the texture and taste of supermarket bought precooked pizza dough.
A. J.
Terrible place. Just joking, because I wish it were less popular so I could always get a table. This is the great pizza place you come back to for more. If in doubt when sharing, go for the size up!
R. A.
Im not a Pizza person.. but I must say .. after having eaten pizza twice here .. It's got my vote, I like it!.. Its got some very friendly staff too!
D. L.
Great lttle local restaurant! This is the first time we've tried it although we've passed many a time & thought we should give it a go! I won't say it is the best ever pizza I've ever had but it is certainly right on up there with the best!
Great value for money, very tasty & well presented. The decor seemed nice & cosy in the short time we were there (we called in our order) & the staff couldn't have been more helpful & friendly! We'll certainly be back soon!
I would recommend this place to anyone!
L. G.
Lovely little pizzeria. The pizza is quite authentic and very enjoyable.
I don't like very much the "living in a cave" atmosphere (low lights) but that's just me and don't affect the high quality food they offer!
Last this, it's Orìgano e not Origàno! 🤓😁
A. L.
Really great food, service and atmosphere! Super welcoming for solo diners for when you want to treat yourself 🥰
G. P.
Every pizza flavor is amazing and the infused oils the pizza comes with are delicious, too! Whether on a date or with a large group, Origano is the perfect spot.
D. K.
Food and service excellent. You won't be disappointed. Busy mid week tells you that the food is good.
W. C.
The staff were very friendly. It is a nice place and the pizza tastes fantastic. I will definitely be coming back and I recommend this place to friends
P. O.
Someone told me it's the best pizza in Edinburgh. For me obviously not. You don't get much for the money compared to the other pizzeria's. For me poor, but quite tasty.
B. a. S.
Absolutely delicious, great pizzas - lots of vegetarian options and great service. Been here loads of times, never fails to satisfy us!
S. R.
In reference to Mr Garner's post, I'm not sure if I'm working class by his definition, but I don't post using SHOUTING capital letters and I do punctuate. I found the ingredients fresh and of good quality. The cooking was of a high standard and the ambience relaxing. A high quality meal at a most acceptable price.
N. D.
Our second walk-in visit, but unfortunately this time no space except the high perches near the door - our fault! Nice food, efficient service, shame they were out of my first beer choice :-) look forward to next time
I. P.
So tasty pizza, wine and incredible tiramisu.
Very friendly people. Highly recommended
E. M.
I had a Pizza Quatro Formagi. While the tasting was ok, the bottom of the dough was much to soft. We had an excellent, crispy Pizza four days ago at the Zizzi in Leigh. I recommend to try this one.
J. L.
The food is always really good - we love the mushroom and gorgonzola bruschetta !
The pizza choice is wide and the dough is really good !! Better to book as it's always full for dinner :) service was great as well.
T.
Really great. Ben was really good.
G. H.
Origano has a great range of pizzas to suit all tastes and a fine selection of wine and beers.
G. R.
Had a cracking milano pizza, nice antipasto mix for a starter. Nice atmosphere, however a largenwork group behind me tended to dominate the noise and service. Would def come back thoigh as food and service were good
K. F.
Amazing pizza with fresh, quality ingredients. They gluten free bread and base is some of the best I've had.
P. C.
Got in as a cancellation as were looking for places near to where we were staying in Leith. The pizzas are absolutely some of the best in Leith/Edinburgh. Will definitely visit again
C.
Book a table if you want to make sure you get a seat, especially on game days. The pizzais fantastic, with one of the best tomato bases I've had in a while
M. L.
Delicious food, amazing quality for a reasonable price, definitely going back
O. K.
I had a blast! Single handedly the best pizza I have ever eaten! The place is splendid and people are very friendly... Do it!
J. M.
Amazing pizzas, incredible cheesecake! Will definitely return.
T. C.
Situated on Leith walk, Great food; had pizza and pasta; very busy place, better to book, pleasant staff. Resonable priced .You might want to take a headtorch to read the menu and see the food, not much lighting.
S. M.
I see one review said the service was slow . That's probably because the place is so damn busy . You can't fault it . Great food fabulous pizza such friendly staff . If the service is slow drink more wine and chill out because when it counts this is a pizza place with bang for bucks
J. L.
Great atmosphere, perfect for a date, the antipasti and the pizzas were great! Friendly staff👌🏼
D. T.
Origano is Leith Walk's (and Edinburgh's) best kept secret.
The cozy romantic atmosphere and friendly staff make you feel like a regular as soon as you walk in the door.
When dining in we have the Bruschetta Pepperonata with roasted peppers, goat's cheese, rocket and balsamic vinegar - which I often wish was an entire meal!
The Spinacio pizza with a fried egg in the middle is my meal of choice, while my OH goes for the Calabrazi (often on their specials menu). The 11" is plenty for me to be a full meal, while OH goes for the 14".
They offer a lovely selection of wines and drinks - and offer BYOB Monday and Tuesdays for wine (£3 corkage).
Origanio is very close to another pizza place that people rave about, which leaves me in shock as I think these pizza's are much better (yes, taste is subjective!).
Offering take-away and delivery services, our above order comes out cheaper than if we were buying two pizzas from a local chain and the quality and flavours are so much better.
L.
The pizza was made quickly and was hot and fresh. It was reasonably priced for what you get. Very convenient to where I was staying and satisfied my hunger.
A. N.
Brilliant tasty pizzas, lovely place and very warm and people were very helpful
I. M.
This place is perfect, the pizzas are so tasty and is really good if you want to go with your couple or with some friends. It's probably that I'll come back.
b. k.
Delicious pizzas, quality toppings, quick service, we went with 11" pizzas as we wanted to try the puddings as well, we had Banoffee and Tiramisu, they were lovely and well presented, would recommend to others
S. W.
Origano pizzas are gorgeous. The special mixed starters on the boards are great too. But be careful you don't over indulge!
A. A.
Nice restaurant, great service and amazing pizza. One of the best restaurants in the city.
B. M.
Probably one of the best pizzerias in town. Very intimate atmosphere. Would def recommend. Also, amazing beer.
E.
Origano is an excellent addition to Leith's dining scene, it's cosy and intimate with fantastic food and service. It's a strong contender for Edinburgh's best pizzeria, although we may have to go back a few more times prior to making this decision just to make sure.
J. P.
Shared a small vegetarian antipasti for two, 11' pizza and glass of pinot grigio. All was excellent!
A. S.
Delicious pizza and an amazing cozy little place. One of those places I've walked past too many times, thinking I should try it - absolutely delicious
C. N.
Good pizzas and service but quite small so don't expect a large table and be sure to book well ahead.
B. H.
Great pizzas, pastas and service ;-)
The pasta was a big plate and a somewhat small amount but it was amazingly delicious and filling so who cares.
Greatly recommend.
R. M.
Easily the best pizza in Edinburgh. Great service, excellent prices. I don't usually bother to write reviews, but when it's this good it's rude not to.
D. G.
Taken to Oregano with family by daughter for Father's Day lunch. Really enjoyed ambience, service and food: there's an attention to detail that you don't see in most pizza restaurants.
J. H.
They have great take-away, but eat in. Gorgeous atmosphere, really excellent food, the staff are great--accommodating and helpful. Not too expensive and a good selection of wine.
K. O.
Perfect Pizza, Good wine and great ambience. Friendly staff. In total made for a relaxed enjoyable experience.

I. C.
Great vibe, friendly staff, tasty pizza and very reasonably priced.
Thanks for playing ball in the birthday cake too!
K. E.
Terrific food great service lovely ambience.....Highly recommend it..
P. W.
Great, only improvement would be serated knifes. All pizza places in 2020 should understand the need for serated knifes, even with cutters
H.
Origano is a lovely place to spend some time and eat great pizza straight from a wood fired oven, great service too.
D. R.

One of the best pizzas I've eaten. Also the lighting and the atmosphere makes for a lovely experience 👌
J. M.
Service was prompt and friendly and the food was delicious.
A. V.
Great pizzas and salads. The only reason they get a 4 is because their menu said their salads came with focaccia but they serve them with bread.
G. O.
A great pizzeria with beautiful Neopolitan dough. Highly recommended!
T. D.
Honestly the Best Italian Pizza in Edinburgh, I can compare it only to Carlo Menta in Rome.Have a pizza you won't regret!
