Tasty food and lovely staff:) The risotto was amazing! And everything with prawns are definitely worth trying they’re all good. Tiramisu a bit too sweet for me but that’s just personal:) it tastes just like those I had in Italy!

Very well placed restaurant, right the heart of the city. The staff were very friendly and the food super, super good! I would suggest to inform in advance that we will pay tip… they were so nice that I would have done it, but I prefer to have option to choose. Better to book the day before as we booked an hour before and they didn’t receive our booking. As a result, we could only stay 40 minutes in the restaurant. I completely recommend!

The atmosphere, food and staff were all excellent. Last night I joined a friend for her birthday meal at her favourite local Italian restaurant, Piccolino. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how delicious the seafood smelled and the stunning plate presentation on customers tables, I knew that's what I had to order and will do again. I'm looking forward to dining here again soon!

Simply fantastic. The food was delicious; we went there with the kids and they absolutely loved it (and trust me they are very picky with food), the customer service was top notch, Gianvitto was a superb host and made sure we enjoyed our time there, definitely recommend it. Grazie mille 👏🏼👏🏼

Great food, reasonably priced wine, friendly staff. The interior decor isn't great (and we were sat by a backlit menu that was shining really harshly in my eyes for the entire meal) but the food more than makes it worth it for date night anyway. Only issue other than the decor was that our mains came out literally 30 seconds after our starters were cleared – it would have been nice to have a bit of a break in between courses. We'll be back though, great experience!

hey there fellow lover of food and great restaurants! that is, if you are a food and great restaurant lover. if not, then I'm afraid that this place is just not for you. see what i did there? in all seriousness, this was a really great eating experience, we were very well looked after by Gianvito, our waiter, and the food and wine was absolutely outstanding! If you're looking for a straight down the line, lovely food time, then please, for your own good, consider Piccolino. It’s a really cozy place with a truly Italian staff. The food was reaaaally good. The menu isn’t too long, which means they can focus on quality rather than quantity. I really recommend trying the soup of the day and the meatballs.

Once again after several times, I'm happy with Piccolino. Quick service, friendly staff and nice food full of flavor. I never had a bad experience in here, however, the restaurant is usually empty and there are a lot of bad reviews out there about it. Either I've been lucky or there are things to be improved. Covid pandemic has made it hard for restaurants to keep running but it's going to be even harder for Piccolino to keep opened if they don't pay attention to bad reviews.

The place is cute and has a nice terrass. The food is getting there... I'm quite picky when it comes to a steak and in the case of Piccolino my medium was both slightly undercooked and could've been a fair bit more tender. What was a real disappointment, however, was the peppercorn sauce, which could have just as well been listed as any generic sauce. The steak was expectedly moderately seasoned, so I was expecting the sauce to bring the experience to life. It didn't. However, my companion gave praise to the seafood and overall, for the price, I would say the food is getting there. But it's not there.

We went there last night as it had good reviews and we wasn’t disappointed . The poor Waiter was working alone but handled it all amazingly and the food had so much flavour . We eat a lot of Italian and that was by far the best I ever had , my husband had venison pasta I had like a ravioli with shrimp eggplant garlic chilli on the specials . Such a good find this is not a posh looking restaurant but it’s down to earth cosy , very friendly with the best food .

Lovely restaurant a 5 star experience! Staff really take pride in ensuring all of the guests are well looked after and receive both quality food, stunning plate presentation and personal service. Starters, main meal (fish), sides, all fresh and really tasty. Hats off to the chef! They have a good selection of drinks and reasonably priced too. We hope to go back again in the near future.

Pre Cinema Food Hoped off the bus at 19:04 and walked the short distance to the restaurant. We were on a deal, pasta, dessert and prosecco which was ideal for the time we had before the film 🎞. I spotted my partner sitting towards the rear of the restaurant. Francesco came over with menus and explained what was available on the deal and which items had a supplement. He then turned the blue glasses over and I thought we were going to be offered tap water but none arrived. A few minutes later we ordered and waited for our food to arrive, I was just checking my watch as I thought we had been waiting a while, when the food arrived. The prosecco was poured and looked like a half glass. I chose the lasagna and added garlic bread 🥖, the lasagna was the freshest I have tasted and the accompanying tomato sauce was excellent. I added a glass of red wine 🍷 to go with the pasta 🍝 and thoroughly enjoyed it. I then chose the strawberry 🍓 tart which was a short crust pastry 🥮 with fresh strawberries on top. As we were starting to run a little late we never bothered with the coffee ☕️. I caught the attention of the other waiter and Francesco brought the machine over and I paid and tipped to round up the bill. I have passed Piccolino hundreds of times on the bus, I am glad I have finally tried it, it was a pleasant dining experience. The atmosphere was good and judging by the reception some of the other patrons got it seems to have a strong regular customer base. Total bill £45.40 total paid £50.00

I had a lovely experience. I came from Glasgow as my friend decided to celebrate her birthday over there and she couldn't pick better place! The food was lovely, tasty and high standard. The service impeccable! Gianvito, Alessandra, the chefs and everyone else made my friend birthday special! These guys know how to make others happy! Thank you! The place itself is amazing. The tables outside and the style of the restaurant is class, good job on who run the place! He must have been very capable. I will definitely be back!

Although we would have left a tip it would not have been the standard 10% of the bill. A smallish Italian restaurant. Maximum tables in the space which makes for a convivial, intimate restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff. All efficiently run & overseen by the boss. Food we had was delicious and well presented. This was a lovely evening out. The only caveat at this time with Covid infections still rife, I was concerned about the full, small restaurant, but we could have eaten outside, albeit on a chilly, damp evening, and many did. However as all our party were double vaccinated and we had a lovely evening inside.

The antipasti board seemed like it came from the supermarket, the salad with the sea bass was extremely basic and not well dressed, and the venison ragu was a little over-salted though tender and the pasta was cooked nicely. We also waited a long time to order and then again between starter and main, which was disappointing for a Sunday night.

First time here and I was with a group of 15 people, most with some sort of special need. The staff were amazing, so accommodating and lovely to the party. We pre-ordered our food from a set menu but people forgot their orders, and were confused about if they ordered a starter/main or main/dessert. The general manager handled it so well and was very flexible in letting people choose another course, or making another starter etc. He was so warm and friendly, chatting to people at the table, having a laugh and making the guests feel so special. The food was very tasty as well, the veal was especially good. Overall I left feeling very well taken care of, and the group i was with were very happy!!!

I had the lunch deal at Piccolino. Really good, authentic Italian food. Will definitely come here again. The staff was very nice too. The only complaint I have is that the portions were very small and both me and my friend walked out feeling a bit hungry. Piccolino come highly recommended. It is set in a clean corner lot and the restaurant avoids appearing cramped or dingy. This little Italian is an absolute gem. If you want real Italian food this is your place! Great customer service even though they looked short staffed, which didn't affect the service at all. We had booked for 8pm and turned up at 7.30pm, we were met with a warm welcome and given a table. We were prepared to wait until 8pm but thought we'd try our luck. We had bolognese and arrabiata, both lovely dishes. This was followed with traditional Italian strawberry gelato, definitely recommend this one and coffee all came to a very reasonable price will definitely be back when we head back this way 😀

My husband and I came to Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival. Today we were having a day off from the Fringe so we'd been walking around admiring the beautiful buildings and the river. By the time we got to this restaurant we were tired from walking nearly 9 miles and were ready for some food. Our food was good, the staff polite and friendly. HOWEVER, we had a problem when the bill came. A gratuity charge of 10 % had been added without our knowledge. Now we don't have a problem leaving tips if we have enjoyed our meal but we don't want to be forced to do this. When the staff member came to collect our money, he wasn't happy that we hadn't paid this charge and he used the Fringe as an excuse to justify charging it. During our stay in Edinburgh these few days, we have eaten in the main Fringe areas and not been charged extra!! If he hadn't added this charge we would have left a generous tip because we both enjoyed our food but we will not be forced to do so regardless of whatever excuses are given to justify it. It pays to check your bill for added extras!!

Fantastic restaurant, atmosphere and staff. Absolutely loved it. Front of house couldn't be more welcoming and helpful - I'll admit we weren't sure what to go for (everything sounded amazing!) but they were happy to talk about the menu and help us. If you appreciate fantastic food made by people who are passionate about making it you really must visit. We had two specials (seafood lasagne) and one menu lasagne and I haven't had one that good since I was last in Italy. I was already stuffed (oh and the beer was delicious) but I just had to squeeze in the dessert. This restaurant was recommended by our hotel and we're so glad we took their advice. Charmful and cosy restaurant. I visited Piccolino with my friend after the show. Beautiful. We were welcomed warmly by the manager, Nico who sat us at the table and chatted a bit. He was very professional and friendly. He asked us what we like to eat and created the order. Great choice perfectly up to my liking. Fantastic starter followed by the best Italian meal I have ever eaten. Well done to the chef, John. Not many times in my life I indulged in my meal soooooo much. This place is just down the road from the premier Inn. The girl behind desk recommended and i was a bit sceptical there was a financial incentive for her to do this.
