Food is very tasty and fresh. We had prawns, pasta with crab, and monkfish. Service could have been a little faster but the servers were all very friendly.

Fantastic food, friendly staff and very welcoming. The chef is from Sicily and the owners are from Tuscany....a great combination. Their seafood is amazing; the house wine is fabulous and the strawberry Tiramisu is out of this world.... I want to go there again for that Tiramisu. Their homemade ice reams are also fantastic. 5 stars and am glad my wife found this on Itison! ❤️❤️👍

Service was excellent, selection of drinks was also great. I enjoyed my meal but I wouldn't say there was much variety for vegans/pescatarians as such and I wasn't completely full despite having three courses and nibbles. I imagine this place is fantastic and everyone else's food looks wonderful.

What a find! At the footings of the castle lies the terrace and a simple but hugely effective restaurant. The hostess is wonderful quiet calm welcoming and efficient. The food has that light touch of someone expert in working with food they love. Everything is simple and beautifully executed. We have never eaten calamari that light and accompanied by a stunning lemon mayo. They brought beautiful chocolate sambuca laced treats with coffee- Stunning lunch - Thankyou

Fantastic Italian food. Our starters, mussels in white wine and courgette soup, were particularly tasty. For mains we had cod wrapped in parma ham (shown in photo) and sea bass - these were also brilliant. Would 100% recommend

Fabulous! I very rarely clean my plate, but the food here was SO good I ate EVERYTHING! It's a small menu but in my opinion this is better. More time is spent on each dish. Dessert was just as good, homemade right there. Get the tiramasu, different but better than typical. And the service was great!

This was a present from my son and daughter in law. We hadn't been before but we'll be here again. Very friendly staff, the wine list is varied enough and the food choice is suitable for many palates. It's a ten minute walk from Haymarket, just under the castle. The experience was excellent. If you are in town, it's worth the visit.

Nice little gem, off the tourist path, polite staff. We had dinner with a baby and the restaurant is quite friendly for a small baby. Now on to the food. We had ravioli- though it was left too boil too much. Big fan of al dente, make sure you mention that to avoid disappointment. Seabas was quite good, decent portion, unimpressed by the aubergine puree. Verdict: decent food for a decent price. Giving 4, just for the ravioli. :)

A warm welcome and a pleasingly decorated venue. The menu is not large but there is plenty to pick from. I would be happy with any choice on the menu. Wine prices are very reasonable. We settled for an Italian Sauvignon Blanc which was delicious. Starters were delicious, we had mixed meats and squid which were both superb. The pasta dishes were also excellent, mine with clams was a treat. We'll definitely be back.

My friend & I were searching for an authentic Italian restaurant in Edinburgh & found Terra Marique to be located ideally as it is a brief 5-7 minute walk from the Edinburgh Castle. Upon entering the restaurant, we were welcomed by the manager/owner in a very warm way and a cozy, yet elegant interior. We ordered the Bruschetta of the day and Arancini (Fried Rice Balls) as starter & also got some homemade bread to go along with it. As a main we had the homemade Ravioli filled with Burrata & Aubergine in a Tomatoe Sauce. Quality & Taste-wise our order was fantastic. Besides we particularly enjoyed the warm, attentive table service we experienced throughout the whole evening. Would definitely recommend the place for couples/small groups looking for authentic Italian cuisine and a cozy atmosphere.

Authentic Italian food in such a great spot next to the Edinburgh's Castle. This place was a delight! I have been looking for authentic Italian food for years! Quality and taste is very impressive. Everything was homemade, from pasta and bead to coffee bisquit and chocolate. I took the special of the day which was trofie pasta with source of seafood: pasta was handmade, perfectly cooked and texture, seafood generous and high quality ... So tasty! I still think about it! We were a group of people and we were all very satisfied. I would recommend and I'm very happy to give these guys a nice review!

Lovely Italian fine food. Not your average Edinburgh Italian restaurant. Good friendly service too. We went for a pre-theatre set menu which was good value with a nice bottle of Primitivo. Perfect for before an event at the Lyceum, Traverse or Usher Hall. (One minor detail that annoyed me - I chose gnocchi in sage butter for main with cockles for an extra £5. 5 cockles for £5 is extreme given how small they are. That's not good!) But overall an excellent experience with great food and we will definitely be back.
