I love this restaurant where I ate 4 nights in a row whilst at a conference nearby. The service is very attentive and professional, and there was no more than 15 minutes to wait for food. And the food was just brilliant and authentic Italian cuisine served by the Italian waiters. This was simply the best and therefore I highly recommend this place and commend all the staff for making it such a good evening

This was my first visit to this fabulous eatery. Well I can only say I can't wait to go back. It truly was a great experience from start to finish. The mussels as a starter were the best I have ever tasted. The mozzarella starter equally as good. We shared them and cleared the plate. I had sea bass with saffron foam delicious. Friend had one of the chicken dishes. Sides of fresh vegetables and hot salty chips. Amazing . Staff attentive but not overbearing. They team have got it just right. If my first visit is anything to go by I think you could book with confidence and enjoy a great meal our.

We were exhausted, we were hungry and we struck gold finding Oro. A big menu of traditional Italian dishes, delicious starters, rich filling mains and amazing desserts. Kids and grown ups were all very happy. We all rolled out of there ready to pop.

Fairly decent Italian that's been in Shawlands since the birth of Christ, maybe. Always busy with attentive, friendly & helpful staff all bound together in the ecletic designed surroundings which only a place that's been around for a while can get away with. Food was fine, not write home to your mother good just fine and not massive portions. I will return. Googled just asked me "has anything has changed since your last visit?"... Aye, it's got about 30% more expensive for the same portion size. Still tastes nice tho.

Excellent pizzas. Not terribly warm welcome, at least not compared to how it used to be (I think it has changed owners since I last visited), but the food makes up for it. Quite expensive for what limited choices there are though. City centre prices for staring across Kilmarnock Road to a B&M store doesn't really tally.

Visited Oro Shawlands with 4 girls friends for a Christmas meal out. We received a warm welcome and taken to our table downstairs. The meal was tasty and generous. We went to Oro for dinner tonight - lovely meal - asked for spicy arrabiata which was tasty - when we asked for the bill we noticed we had been charged £2.00 for chillies ? Omg ? Really ? I could have bought a bag for a £1.00 ! Oro is not cheap and it’s not the money but the principal - I’m afraid I will think twice before returning - I think pretty poor and a bad mistake from management adding that extra charge to our bill ! Extremely disappointed ! Looking forward to your response - PS our order got a little mixed up being relayed to the chefs - we never complained - although waiter did apologise.

Kitch yet charming Italian in Shawlands. The interior is well worth a look on its own! The video fish tank is not to be missed. The staff are super friendly in a genuine way and the service is great. Good value for money and a very extensive menu. They catered for a good allergy with ease and without fuss. The veal cutlet was crispy and soft The doughnuts not to be missed and their huge!

Went here for the 1st time recently on my daughters 21st birthday and loved the place. Really nice inside, food was good and all the staff were excellent. Our waiter Giuseppe was 1st class. He and the other staff including the chefs made a proper fuss of our daughter on her Birthday. I will definitely go back.

Came to Oro for my Fiancée's birthday, the food was 10/10, honestly the best Italian food I've tasted in Glasgow or anywhere to be honest. Service was great and our server, Layla I think her name was, was really nice, welcoming and attentive. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely return.

Oro deserves 4 stars based on how good their pizzas are, but are on the expensive side. When I ate here last (Nov 2021), the pizzas were a good size with 3 toppings of choice, and it was £14.99. Not the cheapest, however it's one of the best pizzas I've had in Glasgow.

We have eaten at Oro dozens of times, both in the restaurant and for take away. We like the quality of the food. For example, the pizza, in our book, plays in the same league as Paesano's (we actually sligthly prefer Oro). Service in the restaurant is also excellent. Why three stars then? Simply, the last two times we have been so disappointed by the value for money that I am not even sure we'll try another time. We get it: Costs are going up for everyone so we understand that restaurants increase their prices also. But Oro have increased their Pizza prices by an eye-watering 13.5% some time this summer. As a result, we are now paying £20.95 for a traditional pizza with 4 toppings (and no: none of the toppings is the gold leaf that they offer; and no, the price is just for the pizza and does not include delivery charges). This is simply too dear for a pizza. For this price tag I can get two pizzas at Paesano's. What's even more disappointing is that Oro combines inflation with skimpflation: Not only did the price for the pizza go up – we are additionally getting less in return. For example, two of our ingredients we always get are flame-roasted garlic and gorgonzola. The last two times we went, we had two thin slices of garlic and, literally, a few tiny crumbs of gorgonzola. At first we thought they had forgotten about the Gorgonzola but upon further inspection we were able to detect a few traces. That's closer to cross contamination than what I would expect for £2.50 worth of blue cheese. Believe me when I say that there was so little that we weren't able to taste the Gorgonzola at all. I hope Oro thinks about their pricing. Their pizzas are good but they used to be better (i.e. more generously topped). And they are not good enough to warrant a 20 quid price tag each.

Delicious pasta and pizza! Tried the grape pizza and was extremely surprised at how the ingredients came together on the pizza. Carbonara number two was so creamy and tasty, pasta is al dente. Only complaint is how the chairs are slightly uncomfortable after sitting for a period of time.

If you're looking for an authentic family run Italian restaurant in Glasgow this is it. The staff are super kind and the food really stands out. Such a change from the chain run enterprises such as Zizi or Di Maggios. Delicious Pizza and Pasta, I recommend the Alfredo Pasta which was creamy and spicy. Lastly, the decor is lovely and really classy, a gem in Shawlands.

If you are looking for a genuine and authentic Italian eatery and a nice place to go for dinner, I highly recommend Oro. I’ve been so many times already and will continue to keep going! The food is authentic, with a wood fire oven for the pizzas, and quality ingredients. The atmosphere is lovely and the restaurant is very clean and smart, cosy for families but quite romantic for a date night too. The wine list is fairly priced in my opinion, and would recommend the Grillo or Frascati if you like white. One thing I would suggest is that if you like oil and balsamic for your bread like me (which is also out of this world) make sure to ask for the glaze instead of the normal vinegar as I found it too bitter. Goats cheese and grape pizza was mind blowing too!

Efficient and polite service, food came quickly but astonishingly overpriced given it’s pretty simple and straightforward. Pizza was average but the most reasonably priced of what we ordered. Ravioli sauce tasty but the filling under-seasoned and dry. £3 for a small bottle of Coke Zero. £4.20 for a small portion of olives. There was no check-back from the service on how our food was so not much opportunity for feedback on the shop floor. Unlikely to return at these prices, would reconsider if it was about a third cheaper.

Came in for without a booking and was seated right away. Staff were all compliant with covid rules and extremely professional, very nice and welcoming too. Food was amazing, we split a pizza pasta 50/50 split a DIY calzone and a spicy pasta dish (pictured) Also had a cannoli for dessert and it was sooo good. The food and service is great, and Oro has become a favourite place to eat, but only for treats! (E.G. birthdays, anniversaries, etc). And that's because it's expensive, so be prepared for spending circa £200 for 4 people, for a 3-course meal with drinks. It won't put us off going, but not as frequently as we'd like. The menu is Italian, with plenty of variation and options for all pallettes. They will even accommodate modifications to their menu items. The service is a great balance of attentive, but not intrusive and the servers are well presented. Oro is not located in the centre of Glasgow, but it's not too far from it and well worth seeking out. Parking nearby can be tricky as it's restricted to the streets nearby. If you are local enough, it would be best to get a bus or a taxi. Disability access presents slight challenges, but better than some places and the owners will go out of their way to help accommodate your needs. The front, upper part of the restaurant is accessed by a few stairs, but the lower part has a staircase to it, so it has to accessed from the rear. Make sure you give the restaurant a call beforehand or make them aware of your needs if booking online. The owners are lovely people to deal with and will call to check and confirm details of your booking beforehand. I'd have given Oro 5 stars if it was a wee bit more wallet friendly, but we will definitely return in a few months time when we saved up!

Outstanding food and service -staff are attentive and menu is one of the best in the area however the only thing that lets it down right now is they are letting tables of more than 6 people of multiple households which made us uncomfortable. Current lockdown rules are only two parties per booking of max of 6 people but there was a group of 7 adults who were there before us and got to stay after our two hour booking- we were kindly asked to leave after we stayed longer than two hours but they got to stay. The larger parties in the restaurant were loud which meant we couldn't hear conversation at our table which puts risk to breaking social distancing rules when you have to lean over to hear the other household that was part of our party. Staff did however wear face masks. I'd think the restaurant needs to put in place measures to ensure tables are no more than six and not to give extra advantages to larger parties. Again, we enjoyed our food and service but would only return after lockdown to minimise risk to health.

Visited this eatery twice in the last month, for dinner and lunch. Food superb on both occasions, atmosphere relaxing, very attentive and friendly authentically Italian staff! A little pricier than normal (seafood pasta was £16) but totally worth it and a very healthy portion size. This place is the best Italian restaurant in Glasgow. The food is truly authentic and wide ranging menu to suit all tastes. The staff are fantastic, nothing too much trouble for them. They are attentive without being in your face. I take my grandchildren, aged 15mths and 5 and they are made to feel welcome instead of an inconvenience like some places. Friends from London said it was the best they'd ever tried!

I have to say this place is amazing!! My wife is not only a vegetarian, but is also Gluten intolerant. I called in advance to ask about some of the items on the menu and the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a meal that was not only beautiful but also safe for my wife to eat! Without a shadow of doubt, this is the best Gluten free food we have tasted and the best compliment I can give is that not only did it taste like normal pasta and pizza, it tasted far better than most other restaurants standard food. To be fair, goats cheese would do that however felt it could have done with just a touch of sharpness to cut through the salt. But that is down to my taste buds. and WOW to the coffee. Top coffee on my top 5 now :) Atmosphere was lovely. Comfortable, perfect temperature and formal enough you would happily take someone out for a date at the same time casual enough you do not feel stressed to wear a more simplistic outfit such as jeans and a tee. I had my 40th birthday meal with my Mum and Stepdad at Oro last night (26th Sept) and I was blown away. The food was absolutely exceptional. King Prawns were succulent and the Calamari was tender and delicious. I opted for the Italian Green Risotto, ive never tasted anything so beautiful, every bite was exquisite. The ambience was divine and the amazing Miro our waiter for the evening was so attentive and sweet, even went to the bother of puting a candle in our desert accompanied by happy birthday being sung.
