I love this restaurant where I ate 4 nights in a row whilst at a conference nearby. The service is very attentive and professional, and there was no more than 15 minutes to wait for food. And the food was just brilliant and authentic Italian cuisine served by the Italian waiters. This was simply the best and therefore I highly recommend this place and commend all the staff for making it such a good evening

Visited here with the family as a joint birthday celebration for my wife's 60th and my daughters 30th...1st and 6th September respectively. We used to come here quite often back in Bella Napoli days and the food is always excellent. We were here on Monday 5th September. The staff.are very attentive and friendly. Visited Oro Shawlands with 4 girls friends for a Christmas meal out. We received a warm welcome and taken to our table downstairs. The meal was tasty and generous. The staff were attentive without being pushy. We all said we would return again. I am taking my husband back this weekend. Highly recommended.

very much enjoyed the food and the service. it was a busy night but the food was served timely. menu has a good selection of vegetarian options as well. if you planning on bringing a pram for the baby or have accessibility concerns, then note there are few steps to negotiate at the entrance and of your table is towards the back of the restaurant. perhaps best to call the restaurant to seek further guidance on this.

Outstanding food and service -staff are attentive and menu is one of the best in the area however the only thing that lets it down right now is they are letting tables of more than 6 people of multiple households which made us uncomfortable. Current lockdown rules are only two parties per booking of max of 6 people but there was a group of 7 adults who were there before us and got to stay after our two hour booking- we were kindly asked to leave after we stayed longer than two hours but they got to stay. The larger parties in the restaurant were loud which meant we couldn't hear conversation at our table which puts risk to breaking social distancing rules when you have to lean over to hear the other household that was part of our party. Staff did however wear face masks. I'd think the restaurant needs to put in place measures to ensure tables are no more than six and not to give extra advantages to larger parties. Again, we enjoyed our food and service but would only return after lockdown to minimise risk to health.

Ravioli was good. What I would have preferred is if chicken was halal. Oro's previously did offer halal chicken to the customers. I don't know why they stopped. Shawlands being such a multicultural area one would think halal chicken is a must.

Visited this eatery twice in the last month, for dinner and lunch. Food superb on both occasions, atmosphere relaxing, very attentive and friendly authentically Italian staff! A little pricier than normal (seafood pasta was £16) but totally worth it and a very healthy portion size. Special shout out for the sharing donuts with cholate dipping sauce which are huge and to die for....... Fabulous, I'll be back!

This place is the best Italian restaurant in Glasgow. The food is truly authentic and wide ranging menu to suit all tastes. The staff are fantastic, nothing too much trouble for them. They are attentive without being in your face. I take my grandchildren, aged 15mths and 5 and they are made to feel welcome instead of an inconvenience like some places. Friends from London said it was the best they'd ever tried!

I have to say this place is amazing!! My wife is not only a vegetarian, but is also Gluten intolerant. I called in advance to ask about some of the items on the menu and the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a meal that was not only beautiful but also safe for my wife to eat! Without a shadow of doubt, this is the best Gluten free food we have tasted and the best compliment I can give is that not only did it taste like normal pasta and pizza, it tasted far better than most other restaurants standard food. Thank you Oro for showing that gluten free food does not need to taste like cardboard and that when you have staff that care, eating out can be enjoyable once again!

Was in with my wife. I tried the lobster ravioli for the first time and it was really tasty, I love most types of fish, but normally go for a pasta dish with chicken as what my wife had. Lovely restaurant, food was nice and servi e was good, a little pricey for wahst what you get but my main reason for not giving it 5 stars is this. I asked for a pint of soda water and lime and was refused because apparently it's against the restaurants policy. No real reason for it, that's all the waiter would say, maybe they just want to get more money from people. I have eaten in many fancy restaurants and have ordered this as my choice of refreshment and have never been refused so that's why ORO is only getting 4 stars 😁

Service was best I have received from any restaurant for some time. Plenty of staff around so you are sure you will be taken care of when necessary. No stars down even though in MY PERSONAL OPINION the chicken dish I had ordered with the goats cheese was super salty. To be fair, goats cheese would do that however felt it could have done with just a touch of sharpness to cut through the salt. But that is down to my taste buds. and WOW to the coffee. Top coffee on my top 5 now :) Atmosphere was lovely. Comfortable, perfect temperature and formal enough you would happily take someone out for a date at the same time casual enough you do not feel stressed to wear a more simplistic outfit such as jeans and a tee. Best advice - go try! Hidden gem in Shawlands :)

I've grown up used to very good Italian food, all my life, and I know the freshness of the ingredients has all to do with the quality. Well, Oro's food is as fresh and perfect as it can get. I would have it 24/7 if I lived in Glasgow. Price wise is expensive but it is completely worthy and they are totally entitled to have the prices they have. Totally recommended for a party or a romantic night out.

Ordered Traditional pizza with ham & pineapple under the build your own menu, Pizza was warm and tasty, Pizza is billed separately as three separate items on the bill! Also had a very delicious fudge brownie with Amerena Cherries, had asked the waitress to request lots of cherries, dessert arrived not very many cherries I thought, just a very slightly below average portion when compared to other places I've had these, soo was a little bit surprised to find we were charged an extra £2.00 over and above the price of the dessert for extra cherries

LOVE this place! We moved to the Southside a couple of years ago, but only discovered Oro earlier this year. Since then we have been there literally week and have tried pretty much every dish on the menu and never once been disappointed. The quality of the food is incredible and the service is amazing too. The bolognese is absolutely delicious - juicy and full of flavour, a real treat. It would be better served with spaghetti though than tagliatelle. The pizza is really very good and imo the best in Shawlands. Nice light and airy neopolitan style thin base and puffy crust. Pizza sauce is lovely and juicy which really makes the pizza. Cheese is tasty and toppings are of high quality.

We went to Oro for dinner tonight - lovely meal - asked for spicy arrabiata which was tasty - when we asked for the bill we noticed we had been charged £2.00 for chillies ? Omg ? Really ? I could have bought a bag for a £1.00 ! Oro is not cheap and it’s not the money but the principal - I’m afraid I will think twice before returning - I think pretty poor and a bad mistake from management adding that extra charge to our bill ! Extremely disappointed ! Looking forward to your response - PS our order got a little mixed up being relayed to the chefs - we never complained - although waiter did apologise.

I went Oro quite a while ago with a friend and her baby. They provided a great helpful and very friendly service. Customer service 10 out of 10. However i feel the prices are too high for there dishes. I ordered a cheese nut pear salad with hardly any cheese or nuts. Salad leaves were full size drenched in a balsamic vinegar coating. The main pasta was not al denti it was a bit too hard for me. However the service they gave was outstanding.

One of the best Italian restaurants in Glasgow. Upmarket decor with friendly staff. The food is excellent. Oro means gold in Italian and this is reflected by the food and the gold decor. Try the fresh doughnuts for desert; they come with a caramel sauce and are outstanding. The prices are not too bad. Great for birthdays or other special occasions. Bar is well stocked and wine selection is good.

The mussels as a starter were the best I have ever tasted. The mozzarella starter equally as good. We shared them and cleared the plate. I had sea bass with saffron foam delicious. I had my 40th birthday meal with my Mum and Stepdad at Oro last night (26th Sept) and I was blown away. The food was absolutely exceptional. King Prawns were succulent and the Calamari was tender and delicious. I opted for the Italian Green Risotto, ive never tasted anything so beautiful, every bite was exquisite. The ambience was divine and the amazing Miro our waiter for the evening was so attentive and sweet, even went to the bother of puting a candle in our desert accompanied by happy birthday being sung. I had the most amazing time and will definitely return again. Wish I could rate higher it was the perfect evening!

We were at Oro for a Friday family birthday night out. It has long been a favourite choice as a star of the Glasgow Southside food scene. The decor is dress up 'out, out', with a mix of young couples, date nights, family groups, friends, and parties lending a bustling atmosphere. Lots of young staff, led by the owners who greet you for your booking. Food as good as ever, but there are definitely fewer prawns and chicken in dishes chosen than a few years ago. Desserts in a traditional chilled cabinet by the bar, full of sticky delights like Nutella Cheesecake and Tiramisu. Overall, an indulgent and fun meal in glam surroundings, with great, good humoured service.

Oro deserves 4 stars based on how good their pizzas are, but are on the expensive side. When I ate here last (Nov 2021), the pizzas were a good size with 3 toppings of choice, and it was £14.99. Not the cheapest, however it's one of the best pizzas I've had in Glasgow.

We have eaten at Oro dozens of times, both in the restaurant and for take away. We like the quality of the food. For example, the pizza, in our book, plays in the same league as Paesano's (we actually sligthly prefer Oro). Service in the restaurant is also excellent. Why three stars then? Simply, the last two times we have been so disappointed by the value for money that I am not even sure we'll try another time. We get it: Costs are going up for everyone so we understand that restaurants increase their prices also. But Oro have increased their Pizza prices by an eye-watering 13.5% some time this summer. As a result, we are now paying £20.95 for a traditional pizza with 4 toppings (and no: none of the toppings is the gold leaf that they offer; and no, the price is just for the pizza and does not include delivery charges). This is simply too dear for a pizza. For this price tag I can get two pizzas at Paesano's. What's even more disappointing is that Oro combines inflation with skimpflation: Not only did the price for the pizza go up – we are additionally getting less in return. For example, two of our ingredients we always get are flame-roasted garlic and gorgonzola. The last two times we went, we had two thin slices of garlic and, literally, a few tiny crumbs of gorgonzola. At first we thought they had forgotten about the Gorgonzola but upon further inspection we were able to detect a few traces. That's closer to cross contamination than what I would expect for £2.50 worth of blue cheese. Believe me when I say that there was so little that we weren't able to taste the Gorgonzola at all. I hope Oro thinks about their pricing. Their pizzas are good but they used to be better (i.e. more generously topped). And they are not good enough to warrant a 20 quid price tag each.

If you are looking for a genuine and authentic Italian eatery and a nice place to go for dinner, I highly recommend Oro. I’ve been so many times already and will continue to keep going! The food is authentic, with a wood fire oven for the pizzas, and quality ingredients. The atmosphere is lovely and the restaurant is very clean and smart, cosy for families but quite romantic for a date night too. The wine list is fairly priced in my opinion, and would recommend the Grillo or Frascati if you like white. One thing I would suggest is that if you like oil and balsamic for your bread like me (which is also out of this world) make sure to ask for the glaze instead of the normal vinegar as I found it too bitter. Goats cheese and grape pizza was mind blowing too!

Great Italian restaurant with all the traditional stuffs, the calamari was good, the spicy chicken pasta was nice, but the highlight of my meal was the mussels, one of the best mussels I have had.

A big group of us went for a meal here on Wednesday, the place was packed when we arrived (and now I know why). The staff were welcoming, attentive and friendly from the start to finish. The whole dining experience was lovely, atmosphere was great and the food arrived fast!. One of the best restaurants I’ve been too in Glasgow. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return. Great service right from arriving. Help to get the pram up the stairs and down the other side. Attentive waiting staff there when you need them but not overpowering. Food was delicious. Nothing was to much including checking if we wanted the baby's bottle warmed. Can't wait to go back!

The food and service is great, and Oro has become a favourite place to eat, but only for treats! (E.G. birthdays, anniversaries, etc). And that's because it's expensive, so be prepared for spending circa £200 for 4 people, for a 3-course meal with drinks. It won't put us off going, but not as frequently as we'd like. The menu is Italian, with plenty of variation and options for all pallettes. They will even accommodate modifications to their menu items. The service is a great balance of attentive, but not intrusive and the servers are well presented. Oro is not located in the centre of Glasgow, but it's not too far from it and well worth seeking out. Parking nearby can be tricky as it's restricted to the streets nearby. If you are local enough, it would be best to get a bus or a taxi. Disability access presents slight challenges, but better than some places and the owners will go out of their way to help accommodate your needs. The front, upper part of the restaurant is accessed by a few stairs, but the lower part has a staircase to it, so it has to accessed from the rear. Make sure you give the restaurant a call beforehand or make them aware of your needs if booking online. The owners are lovely people to deal with and will call to check and confirm details of your booking beforehand. I'd have given Oro 5 stars if it was a wee bit more wallet friendly, but we will definitely return in a few months time when we saved up!

A beautifully decorated restaurant, has a very appealing feel to it, really warm and inviting. Service was amazing! Our waiter was very attentive and gave us first class service. I had bruschetta for starter and it was delicious and was presented beautifully. For my main I had pizza, it looked delicious but was a little bland for my liking. Would definitely return and try something else from the menu.
