Really good Italian restaurant that offers a unique atmosphere overlooking at the Hull’s marina. The restaurant is in an old bricks building and the game of lights and colours makes your stay very enjoyable and warm. The food is really delicious, and keeps surprising you. Particularly good choices of ingredients like the excellent extra virgin olive oil which comes directly from Italy. I will go back and I would recommend it to friends and family!

A small Italian restaurant tucked away on the otherside of the marina. Its a bit of a pain for parking and it's up 2 flights of stairs on the 1st floor of a multi-use building with no lift. We visited on a Sunday at 4pm and were the only customers for the duration of our visit (we stayed until 7). There were 3 members of staff serving however 2 seemed to be more interested in their phones and chatting. My glass was empty for at least 10 minutes and nobody came to see if I wanted another to the point I had to go to the bar to order more drinks. The food was vastly over priced and portion size small and certainly nothing special, although my pint could have come with a flake (see the picture). Overall if you're going to pay this much for a meal go elsewhere.

Not the cheapest restaurant in town, but possibly the best quality of food and great value for money! Came here just because we were looking for somewhere in Hull that we'd not been to before and found it on Google maps. Booked the table without knowing a huge amount about the place but we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. It is situated on perhaps a first of second storey level, so the view from the windows over the marina are really good. The interior of the restaurant whilst still fairly rustic and in keeping with the industrial feel of the building, has been very tastefully decorated and laid out with a large bar area and extensive dining area with well spaced tables and the resulting acoustics are much better than some perhaps busier places we have been. Whilst there were plenty of people there that night, it wasn't deafening and there was a really nice atmosphere. The food we chose was gorgeous. My partner had a venison Wellington, off the specials board, I had a fillet steak dish off the main menu. Both were well presented, cooked to perfection and incredibly tasty. We both had the starter, which was equally delicious and for the first time in a very long time, we both had a dessert. Not that we were still hungry, just that all the food was so tasty, we had to sample a small dessert each too nd weren't disappointed! Whilst I couldn't afford to eat here often, I would certainly like to come back again for a special occasion and I would totally recommend it to anyone wishing to find quality food served in a nice atmosphere by staff who have a smile on their face. If you want cheap, average food, go elsewhere, you won't find that here. If you want really tasty, original recipes cooked to perfection and served by staff that seem to care about their clients and don't mind paying a little extra for it, look no further. We will be back. 👍😊

My colleague and I went to Al Porto Italian restaurant on Thursday and were blown away by our food! The restaurant has a really nice, chilled out vibe, but still holds a level of class. I had the duck liver to start followed by the best risotto I've ever tasted. My colleague had the garlic prawns to start and the spaghetti carbonara for his main. All of the food was lovely

Wow if you like a good steak then this is the place Togo they have all the meat on display in specialized meat.fridges ,they charge you by the 100grames so don't get caught out as both.mine and my partners steak was £63 pound each but what a steak it was and they do present the steak to you before they cook it .

Al Porto came highly recommended to us but we hadn't bothered as the menu didn't look all that exciting. We tried this place in the end as we couldn't get into our favourite Italian, Operetta in Bond Street. Straight away we liked the surroundings and were seated in the bar by a really friendly member of staff. Not sure what we were thinking previously as the menu had plenty on it that we fancied, and there was a good choice of specials. I had a spicy sausage pasta starter, which was nice without being amazing, and Helen had king prawns which were huge and very nicely cooked. I had meat ravioli for the main, which is a bit of a boring choice but actually the pancetta and fennel sausage in the sauce made it absolutely delicious. Helen had sea bream with saffron potatoes, which was perfectly cooked and well worth the £25. The bill came to just over £80 which was pretty good considering we had one pricey main and a £20+ bottle of wine. You could obviously eat here for much less. We'll be back here as soon as possible.

This place is such a lovely place to go! I had emailed in previous for a vegan option they went out their way to make me such two lovely dishes I was very pleased with. A little away from the city centre..this is a hidden gem in Hull! Food menu is relatively small...meaning what they do, they do well.! Wine menu is extensive for the area and offers some good wine at a reasonable price. Overall I will certainly be going back again...and again.

Fantastic! Excellent food, as Italian I thought I was back in Italy for a second. You can tell that the products are first quality coming from Italy, starting from the truffle creme to the prosciutto. The menu was cured in every detail, the prices are reasonable given the high quality of food. The staff was exceptionally friendly. Highly recommended! Popped in on the off chance one Sunday. We were going to leave and go elsewhere as, being a Sunday, it was quiet. Well all I can say is I am extremely glad I didn’t. I had a scallop starter which was lovely, cooked perfect. My partner had calamari which were excellent. Our main courses were fantastic. The food was so nice we were stuffed but still ordered a sweet. I even commented that I could carry on eating as the dogs was that great. We will definitely be dining here again

Service was spot on as always! My food was absolutely amazing and they even let me box up the bit I couldn't finish! (Pregnancy lols😂) We had a party of 10 for a retirement meal, all the food was amazing, everyone enjoyed it, and they even let us bring our own cake and eat it for desert, a lot of places have stopped letting people do this in the hope they'll buy more deserts. The best bit was that we got to greet the party in the bar area and have a drink and a chat before the meal whilst the table became available. 10/10 will definitely be back!

Great experience and the service was first class. We had our two year old with us and the waiter was very friendly, he also brought her a bowl of pasta straight away so she wasn’t left waiting, which given the attention span of the average two year old, was a great idea. The house red Merlot was good quality and well priced as was the food, it’s a bit of a shame there’s no garlic bread offerings but it’s a minor point.

I booked a table for 4 on a Friday night and was greated on arrival with a happy and polite waitress. We ordered from the specials board after being served with our drinks. We did not have to wait very long before our first course arrived. It was presented very well and was very tasty. Again we the main course arrived promptly and we all agreed that the food looked and tasted excellent. Finally the dessert came a short while after and again the quality was top drawer. A hidden gem in one of the nicer parts of Hull. The food was tremendous, service was excellent and the restaurant itself was well furnished, with a real charm to the place. I went here for the first time today and was actually extremely surprised. I'd never even noticed this restaurant before but it was absolutely beautiful, and right near the Hull Marina, which is a great sight to see. We did the lunch special and I highly recommend it. For £8 I got a glass of red wine (you can also have beer, or soft drink), and a creamy pasta smoked salmon dish. The menu was very good to say it was just for lunch, and my friend got the Italian meatball pasta. It was basically a main dinner meal and I couldn't believe the value for money. The service was great and the atmosphere was relaxing. There is parking nearby and I will definitely be back. I have yet to go in the evening but I don't think it will be long before I do. The best lunch deal in the whole of Hull.

Dropped in for lunch with Mum. Plenty of vegetarian food to choose from the main and vegetarian menu. Ended up with two salads to start, both very flavoursome. We both had spinach and ricotta cannoloni for the main - exquisite. Pasta was clearly freshly made and the ingredients packed a punch! My hubby and I have just left this restaurant after celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary meal. We cannot rate it highly ENOUGH. Amazing food, wine, and staff are brilliant. We shared a bottle of shiraz and after the meal, asked if we could have an extra glass each but they didn't do that by glass. They were so caring and attentive that they opened same as we had been drinking just to give us one glass each. Stayed for extra glass of wine and then a coffee each just because we moved to the bar with the amazing music. We booked a table for 4 for 5pm on Saturday to give us enough time to enjoy our dining experience and avoid the busiest hours and it paid off handsomely. We made our way into the separate Cocktail Bar and were welcomed by a very knowledgeable barman who certainly knew his cocktails. Although the cocktail menu was very comprehensive he also offered to make us something 'off menu' and just to our taste. The ladies were not drinking that night so theirs were non alcoholic mocktails. It was a delight to watch their preparation and they tasted fantastic! We placed our food order from the mouthwatering menu and ordered wine and water before the meal to keep things going as we didn't opt for a starter as we were keen to partake of the deserts. Because we arrived early evening we were given the full attention of all the staff and although a few other people had had the savy to avoid the peak hours it felt like we had the attention and service all to ourselves. While we waited for dinner to be served we noticed so much attention to detail, from the uniforms, matching colour themes, table cloths, tasteful decor etc. You can really tell that the new management are going the extra mile. The meals came out and we were not disappointed. We had all ordered something different and each dish had its own unique flavour with beautiful presentation. All plates were empty upon collection! This set us up nicely for desert and as expected each pudding looked just as good as it tasted. All in all one of the best dining experiences we've ever had and would certaily recommend Al Porto if you are looking for high quality meals and service. If you read through the reviews the only negatives seem to be the wait time for meals on Friday and Saturday nights, but fresh food takes time to prepare and cook so you'll need to allow for that, but it will be worth it. We'd also like to thank the manager Paolo for making us feel special.

The wine list was limited as they are in the process of updating their range, but the Chianti was amazing. Went for the first time with another couple who had been before. We ordered a starter and main. The starter- sharing platter was lovely but they brought our mains and we hadn't even finished our starter so I felt rushed. Our friends had fish which they thought was over cooked. I had chicken with pesto sauce which was lovely. At no point did anyone check back to ask if everything was alright. Common practice. Not sure I would go again.

Saw that Al Porto has a high rating both here and on Trip Advisor so we thought we would give it a try. We booked in at short notice on a Friday evening and were pleasantly surprised that there were tables available. Upon arrival we were impressed with the decor, it is interesting and the place looks comfortable and clean. There was a very brief wait to be greeted and seated. Once shown to our table we were brought a specials board, which was propped up on an adjacent seat for us to peruse. Not a usual practice but it worked. We ordered starters (the Mussels Marinara and the Formaggio di Capra). These arrived alarmingly quickly so we feared that they were pre-prepared and just reheated. Perhaps they weren't even reheated as the Mussels Marinara was tepid and had a skin over it and the goats cheese was evidently not recently fried - it seemed like it was bought in as it had a factory-like boring uniformity to it. Feeling a little underwhelmed, we waited for our main courses. These took a while longer (thankfully!). Our mains were far, far better than the starters. I had the meatballs and can honestly say that they were delicious - tender and flavoursome. The tomato sauce was, however, very sweet - almost like cream of tomato soup. Certainly not a traditional Italian sauce recipe but nice enough. The pasta was al dente although certain areas of additional toughness exposed the fact that it was dried pasta rather than fresh that was being used (not a problem - just an observation). The portions were huge and we couldn't fit in any dessert - in fact, my partner couldn't finish her main and, not wanting to waste food, asked if she could have it packaged to take home. We were told that it wouldn't be possible. In all, a good environment with large portions of food that fell below expectations in all areas (except the meatballs themselves, which were delicious). We would expect an establishment in this area, with these prices to not be serving pre-prepared and reheated items. Go for a... Romantic night out? Perhaps. Family meal? Probably not.

I went to Al Porto midweek to try out the 2015 Christmas menu and was extremely impressed. Not only was the atmosphere intimate and cosy (which made a meal out with people a wonderful experience), the food itself was fabulous. The presentation of each dish was superb and everything was absolutely delicious and seasoned to perfection: I literally cannot fault anything! If I had to pick my favourites from their Christmas offerings, I think I'd go for the chestnut soup (which was basically Christmas in a bowl!), the guinea fowl with red wine jus and sautéed mushrooms which was an absolute treat and the homemade chocolate roulade; a chocolate lovers delight! Five stars and a massive thumbs up; I'll definitely be back again!

Visited a few weeks ago, a party of 10. Food good what we had. Service and staff excellent. I have been to many Italian restaurants all over the worls as it is some of my favorite food, and in 90% they will give you a FREE drink of lemonchello or Grapa. After spending £550 between us, we asked the waiter who had to ask the manageress if we could have a free Lemonchello and she declined. Obvious she needs to go on a Customer Service course. I would go back if asked for someones special occasion, but no I would go to Luccas. And another thing, did you have to plat Rod Stewrat allllll night.

I went here with my daughter on 3/9/2015 for lunch we started with a glass of cider while we looked at the menu. we both choose salmon with baby potatoes and a nest of cucumber we also had a side dish of vegetables and garlic bread . all of which was delicious . we also treat our selves to deserts I had italian cheese cake and my daughter had the tirmasu which she said was the best she had had . we finished of with a glass of proseco all in all it was a lovely experience will be back.
