The best Italian I've ever been to. Delicious food, exceptional service and very well priced. The best restaurant in Leicester

Three generations of our family had tickets for a performance at Curve in Leicester and wanted to.have dinner together first. We wanted to be sure we could eat and still get to the theatre in time without rushing. I hadn't eaten at any restaurants near the theatre and on researching realised there actually aren't that many in close walking distance (I have mobility problems) to the theatre. I picked Altro Mondo based on the reviews, location to the theatre and the early opening times. I booked a table for 5.30 and was so glad I did as within 30 minutes of arrival, every table was occupied. The restaurant offers a 'theatre' menu and a very comprehensive Italian menu. Service and communication was excellent and I had a phone call from them 24 hours earlier to confirm our booking. Our table was waiting for us and our meal arrived much quicker than expected. All our meals were delicious, clearly cooked to order and very good value. We didn't have room for dessert unfortunately! The restaurant is about a 10 minute slow walk from the theatre and although the area is let down by a certain level of neglect (Council responsibility) it did feel safe. We can highly recommend this restaurant and would certainly go there again

Fantastic value for money. Really tasty food, generous portions. After pouring our red wine, which we were initially happy with, the manager opened another bottle for free as he thought the original was corked - he was right! This attention to detail is great to experience. Will definitely be back.

The food was delicious! Amazing environment, chilled music and nice ambient. The staff was exceptional! Dinner was served fairly quickly and the bill was not even expensive. I would give them more than 5 stars.

Enjoyed a lovely meal with my partner. Food was fresh and served nice and hot. Good portion size. Service was attentive but a little slow even though restaurant wasn't busy. Would recommend for authentic Italian meal.

Dined here for a friend's 40th birthday a couple of weeks ago, and wow... what an excellent place. I wasn't expecting the food to be up to much, considering the bargain price tag of £22 for the winter set menu and karaoke- but it was absolutely stunning and plentiful portions. We had an absolute blast on the karaoke, and the atmosphere was excellent, with staff even joining in on the fun. It was a brilliant night. There are a good selection of drinks- however the lager selection could be more varied. When we visited 2 of the pumps were out of order, so Carlsberg was only available on tap; which isn't the end of the world but would have preferred a choice. Regardless, I highly recommend this restaurant to anybody who is considering a night of good food and fun, as a couple, family or group of friends.

More than good enough. My lasagne was made properly before it was reheated, so I atleast know it was not imported for microwaving straight from freezer, like perhaps Frankie and Benny's might try. The food was nicely affordable and the quality matched its price. I didn't feel robbed and I don't regret my visit or purchases. I recommend this place for big parties scouting for cheap and cheerful italian grub in a friendly atmosphere with very capable staff.

I visited here with a friend a couple of days ago, and we were very impressed with the restaurant, food and the staff. Each interaction was extremely pleasant and we felt we were taken care of by the staff to the highest standard. The Bruschetta Pommodoro starter is out of this world. It reminded me of the Bruschetta I had in Italy a few years ago, so I 100% recommend trying this. We were so happy with our evening that we left a 40% tip for the staff, because each and every one of them deserve it. If you live in Leicester, and haven't already tried this place, you really should. If you're passing through Leicester, I would definitely recommend making this place a must see on your destinations to visit list.
