Oh my god ! Food is absolutely delicious, can’t remember when i had such a nice Italian meal in restaurant in UK. People working here are also amazing, vey polite and friendly. I can definitely recommend. It’s a shame I don’t have such a great place where i live. Thank you ❤️

Very friendly and pleasant staff, great selection and great food! The mushrooms that come with the pasta are tasty, the chocolate cream on top of the profiteroles was delicious, had the real taste of chocolate and not sugar. My wife tried the "Tarta della Nonna," and the lemon flavor was simply spot-on. Always a pleasure to spend some time there in family, one of our new favorites since we moved to Formby!

Lovely food! Probably the best Italian i have had in a while. I live in Shropshire and i would happily travel to this restaurant to eat again! The produce was top quality! The service lacked a little finesse as they were rushing around to everyone but other than that OUTSTANDING.

First visit today and I can't recommend highly enough. The staff were so welcoming and family friendly. Absolutely gorgeous to the children and courteous and efficient. Treated to a Birthday Lunch by my friend. We had alot of catching up to do and, the Staff, as always, were fantastic - they gave us lots of time to chat before ordering. The food, as usual, was excellent and when we didn't order puds (too full), two of the waiters came over, singing Happy Birthday, with an icecream! It made my day, especially as my day felt 'flat' due to the Queen passing away.

Sensational Family run attractive restaurant serving exceptional Authentic Italian cuisine. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet relaxed and exudes the essence that the owners care a great deal for this business and their customers. A warm and friendly welcome upon arrival and close personal service from the front of house staff offers the best possible impression. Drinks arrived promptly and orders taken with good explanation of the menu, nice to see the waiting on staff take the trouble to understand what they are serving. Food is freshly prepared so be patient, you won't be disappointed. Nice to also see that the owner takes the time to visit tables and ensure his guests are enjoying their visit, it's those little personal touches that make such a difference. Overall I can not recommend this restaurant highly enough, a spectacular experience all round and we will be sure to visit again very soon. The easiest 5 stars in a very long time.

Cannot believe a negative review I have just read. I guess some people just do not appreciate the quality and professionalism of this restaurant. Having eaten at many restaurants across the north west and indeed further afield, there aren’t any restaurants that even come close to this “gem”. Try it and you will not be disappointed. We enjoyed a belated anniversary meal here. We were really not disappointed. We arrived and were seen and sat at a table straight away. There are alot of tables, but without it feeling closed in. Lots going on with plenty of staff taking care of everyone. Lots of extended family's in, which was really nice to see. We enjoyed a starter each; gambas peri peri, chicken and mushroom pancake in tomato sauce. Then a main of; diavola, calzone. Followed with coffees. Drinks were brought whenever we needed and the food came in perfect intervals to allow a relaxed feeling. Loved it. Thank you Sorrento.

Wowza. A real treat to find a slice of Italy in this provincial area. Yumsy pizza and pasta al dente. Dollops of ice-cream and crispy cannoli curls, can't go wrong with that. Extremely authentic with a man watering the plants outside. Just one thing that let the premises down was the lack of napkins provided, we had to lick fingers clean which isn't what you want to be doing after a day out in the north.

Just fantastic. The food was absolutely amazing and the staff are friendly. The menu is extensive. We asked them to make a smaller plate of a main course dish for our 10 year old and they happily obliged. The waiters came to check that we were enjoying our meal and then came especially to check that my daughter was enjoying her cake. The desserts are to die for...Just a lovely, relaxing meal out for all of us, really.

I brought my wife here for date night. It was our first time dining at this restaurant. We had not made a table reservation prior to coming, but the staff were really nice and welcoming and they were able to accommodate us right away. The food was brilliant, especially the risotto! It just hit the right spot! (My wife and I had to fight over it, as she wasn't willing to share!) Our servers, Romijo and Francesco were extremely friendly and patient with us. They each took the time to explain the menu properly.

Great food and great service. What more can you ask for? We were a group of 7 on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was just under half full. My parents eat there regularly and the staff are outstandingly friendly. I had prawns to start followed by the steak in pepper sauce. The richnest of the sauce was outstanding and despite there being a lot peppercorns it wasn't incredibly hot. The steak was cooked as asked (rare) and was wonderfully tender. I finished with canolli and loved it. Everyone on the table had good meals, and it was so good that we even told them that they had forgotten to put the bottle of wine on the bill. Love it all, wish I lived nearer.

My wife and I have attended this restaurant several times in the last 3 months , and the food is excellent as is the service. All of the staff are very polite and warm and genuine. Luciano the owner makes a big effort to make sure everyone is happy, and indeed comes and speaks to all of the guests at their tables to make sure all of the food is to the customers satisfaction. Luciano treats his customers like family. I rate Sorento's very highly, and Francesco really manages the restaurant very well, and nothing is too much trouble for him or Luciano. Who needs to go to Liverpool to eat when you have Sorento's locally. Buonissimo !!!

I dined here one Saturday evening as l had heard really good reviews from friends so thought I'd give it a try. Frankly l wasn't so impressed . The starter was fabulous but we both felt very rushed and we were positioned right in front a TV showing football which seemed to be the only thing the waiters were interested in for the evening ! The main was supposed to be a fillet steak .....It was dry and overcooked and a very strange colour so l sent it back, but even when it was replaced it never made any difference it was still bland and didn't resemble steak at all in fact it smelt like pork . The dessert was a tirimasu but again quite dry and certainly not worth what we paid for it. The bill was nearly £120.00 for the two of us which l found expensive for what we had eaten. The service wasnt great ,we had three waiters who failed to communicate with each other so therefore we were being asked the same questions time and time again until the bill of course which we paid and quickly left. I just found the whole experience rushed the food wasn't great and the waiters were not interested. I was quite surprised we could easily get a table the evening before at 8 on a Saturday before Valentine's night but now l understand why.

I celebrated my 70th birthday with All my family on Saturday 13th April. There where 11 of us. It was a fantastic night. The ambience was great, the food was fabulous, we where served with a good selection of wines. The service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. There's always one eh? Gail Mullarkey you must of ordered the works and alcohol on top to spend £120 for two people. Can't see you spending £120 on two people just for food. I can go here as a family of five and spend less than £120 admittedly without deserts but certainly not watching what I spend. The food here has always been excellent and the staff friendly and helpful can't fault them. Maybe instead of bitching after the event you should of tried asking to move to another table if the TV was bothering you and I am sure the waiter's had your table upto date before watching the football what else do you expect them to do while waiting for your next move?? This restaurant is popular with premiership footballers and the staff and owner have a keen interest in football also. I am sure you won't be missed!

Having visited on Valantine's day, our evening booking turned out to be perfect, as the crowds were all gone. Welcomed by friendly staff, our starter, the tomato garlic bread didn't take long to arrive. The interior doesn't feel as italian, as you would normally find it in a traditional restaurant, but this is only an observation, as the food was great, and that's the main point you expect a restaurant to deliver on. The calzone was perfectly portioned with tasty ingredients, so as the very last bite leaves you just full enough, not to feel inconvinient to have eaten too much. Another positive aspect, the staff were italian, which is a must for an italian in my eyes. Will be returning soon in march! Thank you for the pleasant experience!

Came here for my 60th birthday on Christmas Eve. I had booked it 6 weeks earlier. Good job. It's always busy. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. All the time. We try and come here often even just for a pizza/ pasta. We are never disappointed. Thanks again Sorrento.
