Came to this fantastic Libyan restaurant by accident, after leaving from the place we had booked, after not feeling very welcome there. The Manager and staff at Al Hamra were wonderful. The were welcoming, helpful with the menu choices and suggested some lovely dishes to try. The mixed grill was a dream! We enjoyed a delicious Libyan House Red . The atmosphere was very easy going and relaxed. Great experience..... we said we will be back.... this time deliberately! Thank you!

Truly scrumptious food, generous portions and fabulously attentive service. The chicken liver in sour grenadine sauce was a tad too sweet but the rest of the food was fresh and delicious. Same comment as the user Ralph: very nice food but PRICEY! Don’t trust the ££ in the review, you won’t spend less than £40 each excluding drinks! Also, I didn’t like finding a cover charge of £2.60+service mandatory. As well the minimum spending of £30 pp. There are plenty of great Lebanese restaurants without getting tricked. Service was quite rude, except for the Italian waitress that was the only one really engaging.

What a pleasant surprise. Everything was fantastic! The chicken are just perfect and the lamb, including the tabouli and fattoush salad and the artichokes are perfection. Came back again for lunch and then again our last day for a big family dinner. Great wines, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and delicious food. Will be back the next time I am in London.

My husband and I discovered this restaurant, tucked away in Shepherd Market, on a visit to London in the 1990s. It was great then, and it has been equally great on two recent visits.The food is varied, fresh, and consistent. The best Lebanese food I have had anywhere, Including the desserts. As only one example, in other places baklava can be disappointing, overly sweetened and leathery, but here the phyllo was still crisp and the balance of nuts and sweetness was perfect. The execution of all the other dishes is similarly excellent. The waiters are professional and clearly take pride in creating a relaxing and enjoyable setting for a wonderful meal.

Good food but the staff was absolutely obnoxious and standoffish. The maitre'd told us to move in the middle of our meal because "they needed a table for a bigger party". There was no hint of apology -- just a demand to move. Also, be very careful since they expect you to order 2 appetizers and 1 entree per person for dinner (even if it is a child). They wanted to negotiate with us on how much food we needed to order for the kids. I felt like I was in a cheap Turkish bazaar.

Very disappointed with the service!!! We went for lunch (approx 13:30) & despite being seated quite quickly , we were left at the table for over 20 minutes before the waiter came up to ask about drinks, at which point we were ready to order our food. The food itself was good, simple but tasteful; however I do not believe it is worth the inflated price. The worst part is that the staff were not at all attentive.
