A true local gem! We have been coming here nearly a decade and the food has always been consistently fantastic, and portion size good. I would go as far as to say that it’s one of my favourite restaurants in London. There's no way some of the negative reviews on here are genuine! We moved away from the area in 2018 and so have only been picking up takeaways occasionally when in the area - and recently when I popped in to collect - I met the owner briefly and it was so endearing to know he remembered us and our favourite dishes & deserts. Recommended: Qabuli Palouw (lamb shank with rice cooked with fried carrots, raisins, almonds and pistachios) and Shirin Palouw (Rice with orange peel, almonds, pistachio, and grated carrots. Served with grilled boneless chicken) (The chicken is more deeply marinated than anything I have ever tasted elsewhere and always cooked well). If you’re dining here - I highly recommend the mint tea while you’re waiting…. And for desert the Afghan rice pudding is divine.

Got recommended this restaurant by my Afghan Bolt driver today who talked so passionately about his country and food, I felt compelled to try it. And I'm so glad I did! The food is magnificent and definitely interesting flavours compared to the European and Indian tastes we're used to in the UK. The lamb shank rice pilau was superb, and each grain was infused with flavour. The aubergine and lentil side dish was really delectable. But the star of the show for me were the punchy pickles... They make your mouth water and and tingle and are so moreish... I'd go as far as to say, the best pickles I've eaten. Highly recommendeded 😁

Had a lovely dinner at Ariana on a Friday night. The bread was freshly made and delicious with the baba Ganoush. We ordered the mixed grill for 2- sadly they don't do it for one. The chicken was succulent and flavourful, as was the minced lamb kebab. The lamb chop was disappointing though and too rough to eat. We also ordered the seabass which was also a bit dry... Service was good and the food came so quickly. Loved the BYOB.

A bit out of the way for me but as we were in the area, my friend suggested to eat here. Absolutely great food and plenty of choices. The lamb shank with rice cooked in its juices was super flavoursome with sweetness from sultanas and carrots. It was such a large portion that l couldn’t finish it and hate to see it go to waste hence got help from big eaters. Bread was freshly made in view and only when ordered, so that was lovely with some dips. My friends dish of lamb and okra was very tasty, bursting with flavour. We also bought our own alcohol. Definitely recommend this lovely restaurant if you’re in the area, no doubt locals already are aware of it if not, they should be.

Brilliant food, lovely atmosphere. Calm music, not pumping out while you’re eating. Our waitress Andreea was very friendly, gave lots of tips with the menu and even shared her favourite dessert with the bread!

Discovered this little gem while walking in the park, decided to pop in as we were hungry. I lived in Bow for a number of years and Ariana was my go-to place for delicious, freshly cooked food. Creatures of habit, my spouseand I always have the same order and having not eaten there for two years I am happy to say last week it tasted just as we remembered. The torshi is fresh and the perfect start to a meal. Qabuli pulaow and mumtaz were absolutely delicious. I love it!

Delicious Afghan and Persian food and friendly and professional service in a truly magical setting. We sat in the absolutely delightful terrace at the back, tucked in Mile End Park, surrounded by greenery and decorated with lights. We had the Qabuli Palouw, Sultani kebab, Ashak and Lobia as well as Kask-e-badenjan and freshly baked bread. Everything was delicious and although the portions were generous (the rice dishes in particular were enormous!) we shared a lovely traditional ice cream and tea after. Highly recommended - we will definitely be back!

I've eaten in and ordered from Ariana a few times. I have to say I'm not a fan of Afghan food in general but their grilled meats is fantastic! The best kebabs I've had. Didn't like the rice with the carrots and sultanas, just not to my taste but the saffron riffs was excellent. Portion size is on the large size and I would have preferred it a little smaller so as not to waste food but the price justifies the size. The bread was amazing when I ate in but understandably a bit rubbery due to steaming whilst being delivered. All in all a fantastic place!

Delicious great quality food every time! Authentic flavours and interior! Freshly baked in the traditional open fire tandoor in front of you bread with authentic starters (ask staff for advice) is simply to die for!!! Staff is always patient and friendly, portions are generous and adequately priced for the size. Try the mixed grill for two (tip: can be shared by three). Overall atmosphere is very inviting! Parking on site literally non-existent and is a bit of an issue, which is sometimes a considerable inconvenience! However, most of the time we were able to park for free on the neighbouring street for free and normally not more than a minute or two walking distance. Great shisha is a good bonus to those interested. Overall highly recommended place!

My favourite place of all time. I dont care what many people say about this place, but I can not ever fault it. I only love one dish here.....Kabuli Pilau For those who want a fine Persian experience, why not give this place a try. I have been going to this place since 2006 and all I can say is that this place never let's you down. What a feeling and well I love the atmosphere, cosy for those winter days. I have a meal here every few months. I used to live across the road but I still travel back for my favourite dish, qabuli pilau. Its a nice family friendly restaurant. The portions are good. The bread and fresh juices are delicious and the mixed grill is good. I love that its situated right next to the park so in the summer you get nice views especially if you sit out back.

I've been to this place several times and enjoy their food a lot. This place has an indoor dining and outdoor for food and shisha. The food is halal and also have a prayer space at the back for those who want to pray. Their mixed grill dish is one of the best mixed grills I've ever had. The meat was tender with nice seasoning and was delicious. I must say we were over charged considering that they were doing the 50% government discount scheme. Their mixed grill for 2 is normally £25 (see menu on the website) and we've ordered for 3 which supposed to be cheaper than for 4. But we were charged about £59 before the discount. I didn't realise at the time of paying but they should have paid a bit more attention. We've had 3 J2Os and no starters. Mixed grill for 2 is £25 as advertised on the website. £12.50 per person

The food was tasty, portions sizes Herbert's and the ambiance welcoming. Despite the service being slightly haphazard at times, this did not ruin our experience and, arguably, this made for some humorous conversation around the table. Good food and lovely atmosphere. However the food doesn't stand out and seems to lack a bit of character. I've been here several times and I find the taste to be slightly different every time. The grilled meat can seem quite bland at times. The Qabuli Pilau (lamb shank) is very nice and meat tastes really good. Shisha also available at the place but wouldn't recommend...mine required fixing/changing several times when I last tried it. Semi-out door seating available but not as comfortable as you'd think it would be. In general a nice place to eat out every now and then. I wouldn't eat here regularly or too often. Definitely missing that something!

I have been visiting this place since 2009. And I have got lot of memories at this place. I discovered this place from a newspaper clip which said that Ariana is a hidden gem of East london. I have them a visit and was completely hooked on it. The food quality was great. The staff was good and polite. The portions were big and generous. But then something changed, their portions shrinks and they seemed uninterested in serving and the quality dropped massively. Last two times I visited them I had a very bad experience and decided not to waste my time anymore.

However seen as they know me and that I'm a regular, they have become pretty rude and even when taking my order they look like they don't want to take the order. I pay for the service, I mind my own business so it shouldn't be a problem. They move me everytime I go there like I'm the least important. A nice place to go with the whole family. It's suitable for children and they can have fun while the adults enjoy a fine dinner. At least that was our case. We booked a table and were welcomed and seated almost immediately after we arrived. Amazing and authentic ethnical food experience. Main courses are based with lamb or chicken, and they are quite tasteful also they serve a huge portion, so be sure to be very hungry before ordering a main course. Starters are exceptionally good, I recommend the aubergine starters with a bit of warm fresh made pita bread. The place doesn't serve alcoholics, but allows to bring in your own beer

Lovely food. Kabuli Pilou with lamb shank and Mamtaz. I like the meat ball with lentils and the pasta meatballs. Mint tea is great. Customer service its ok can improve. But PLEASE, ALWAYS CHECK YOUR RECEIPT. Or ask them to repeat what you ordered when paying. You get charged for all sorts of things you did not order. I come here a lot. And every time they get it wrong. I have lost quite a bit of money for not checking before. As majority of time we in groups.

I like the food, generally good service I go there on a semi regular basis. But sometimes staff are abit sloppy and the place is too hot. Staff should really learn to listen to customers, this is the second time they have messed up payments this year... we wanted to split the bill but the guy just charge me all of it (I'm just not used to looking in the terminal as this is something I take they would get right for granted) but if you are a group or just on a date maybe always have to double check. I didnt want to make a fuss or make it awkward for my date.. just more annoying than anything

Been eating at Ariana for years. Great food, the slow cooked lamb is enough to feed 2 and the fresh clay baked bread is delicious. It's also 'bring your own' alcohol, and the off license directly opposite has a great selection, which adds further to the great value of the place. They have a good spot over looking the park and if you fancy a shisha they are on offer too.

Ariana is a Mile End institution and is regularly fully booked. I was expecting great things, but was a bit disappointed as I found the food to be lacking in flavour (particularly the grills, which were also a bit dry) and the service slow, if friendly. I would consider going back, but wouldn’t rush there.

My husband and I were meeting some friends in the evening, and needed to kill some time in Mile End. Historically we've struggled to find good food places around the station, usual chain joints aside, and my husband had been eyeing this place up for a while, so we decided to pop in and give it a try. The starters were pretty good - I had the chicken wings and he had the salad, which were both very much as advertised. For the main, I had the lamb chops, which were excellent... But the star of the show was without doubt the qabuli palouw my husband ordered. Slow cooked lamb shank with rice cooked in the lamb juices, filled with sweet and tangy fruits. Absolutely sublime. When we come back I'm pretty sure we'll both be ordering it!
