Reviews of Da Mario Kensington

It is very evident why this was Princess Diana’s favourite meal spot. The notion of Italian comfort food is well encapsulated in every dish of this establishment! Explore the menu, everything is finger-licking good!
M. K.
I have been here second time and I can totally recommend the place. Food is not overpriced and great quality and taste. Staff is amazing, will always welcome you warmly and makes you feel Kyle you are at home.
Y. C.
I like the pizza beard texture.
Pasta taste all fine, as expected not too much surprises.
Very busy site, after seated we waited for an hour, finally get our food on the table.
Average spending £30 without alcohol. to be honest, the food is fine just not impressive enough for me to recommend to my friends.
M. M.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, we ordered pastas and a pizza to share. Both were excellent full or flavour. Finished of with the tiramisu which was delicious. Absolutely amazing place can’t wait go back and try the weekend specials 🥰
J. G.
Came here for a birthday with a large group and we got a lovely table. Service was excellent as well. Food was good, not the best pasta I’ve had in London. And probably would not return for the pasta. But overall an enjoyable meal

Really great! Appreciate the service.
Pasta, pizza, ice cream and tiramisu are all delicious.
It's really a nice place for people to have a dine together.
We had a lovely lunch time!
Y. C.
Great experience here, service was very friendly and welcoming. Both pastas we ordered were absolutely delicious. We had a lovely lunch time here!
X. L.
Seafood spaghetti is a bit salty but still worth to order. I like the pizza texture, might be the best pizza I have had recently. Tiramisu is good

Che meraviglia!
Da Mario is "the" place to go.
I am Italian and the food here is so good and well prepared that I felt at home when my mum cooks for me!
Pictures will tell you more than words. The service was impeccable and the staff is friendly and professional.
Fabio was an amazing host and can't wait to be back again!

For several years now this has been our go-to Italian restaurant in London - for us it simply is the best: delicious handcrafted Italian food with changing daily specials, a great range of wines and the fantastic service of Marco's team make this a winner every time. Highly recommended for lunch, dinner or a quick bite in-between. Keep up the great work!
M. S.
Great food, atmosphere, and service. Recommend the seafood pasta, rigatoni da mario, and tiramisu. I left my scarf here, realized a few days later, and they kept it! Came to pick it up, it was folded and stored safely in a plastic bag, and the manager kindly gave it to me. THANK YOU 😊❤️

Delicious food and wine 🍷
Wonderful service, our waitress was a joy, super lovely and fun.
Good atmosphere and menu choice. Nice to enjoy an independent restaurant in Central location.
S. B.
Really lovely place to eat, excellent service and tasty food. Lovely old building. Highly recommend. Lots of great pictures decorate the walls .
A. R.
Brilliant Italian restaurant in South Kensington. Was recommended by a friend to try their Rigatoni pasta (specifically Rigatoni Da Mario), and I have to admit it was pretty delightful. They had some awesome tiramisu and their homemade Zabaglione gelato was the perfect blend of creamy and sweet.
J. C.
The food was absolutely top notch! Coming from an Italian family I am always comparing to my Nana's cooking, this did not disappoint though.
My partner even said it was the best pizza he has ever had. No photos of the mains because we were so keen to dig in.
Will return definitely.
A. L.
We arrived on spec and were quickly shown to a table on the terrace where the heating took off the slight evening chill. Lucia served us with a friendly smile and approach. The mozzarella and tomato salad starter was fresh and creamy, mains were delicious and desserts amazing! Certainly worth choosing from the specials menu. A great evening, highly recommended.

Traditional Italian restaurant in Kensington, old style ambience. Service is very good with my “best Moldavian friend” hosting us very nicely. Pizza is excellent Italian food, particularly the ones with sea food was very good.
E.
Delightful italian restaurant with authentic and well priced Italian cuisine. The food was fantastic, they had a superb wine list and the waiter was very friendly - he gave my friend and I limoncello shots on the house. They also had homemade ice cream and sorbet which was delightful. 10/10. Will definitely eat there again.
S. J.
For a super busy tourist restaurant, it's actually really nice! Both of our pasta dishes were delicious and the building is very interesting. Prices are fairly standard for the area and the staff are efficient.
K. S.
Very cozy Italian restaurant and friendly staff members. I like the food. Recommended if you are around the area.
J. S.
Eat here. Food was delicious, service was great and atmosphere lovely! Photos don't do the food justice - I had to pause eating to take them...

My favourite italian End of Story!
Well priced, Fantastic staff
Beautiful heritage.
I recommend the Seafood Pasta and any pizza ❤️

The food is so delicious, I've enjoyed every single meal. The host and waitresses are so nice! RECOMMENDED!!

I went out to dinner here several times now and every time everything is absolutely amazing. The service, the atmosphere, the quality of the food (especially for the amazing prices!). The staff works hard and is very kind. Da Mario definitely is my favorite place to go out for dinner in London and everytime when I'm in town, I will eat there as I know it will be a lovely time. I attached some pictures of the food with this review as evidence to show how amazing all the plates look every single time!
E. L.
seafood pasta, tiramisu and garlic bread are must tries! can be a bit of a wait but definitely worth a visit, great value for sure :)
A. G.
Visited this amazing restaurant twice in the last three days. Our two kids devoured their dinners, one of whom is a picky eater! Staff are very attentive and food is delicious. You can see why it’s so popular. I’ll be back in London next month with my sisters and I’ll be definitely be taking them here.
N. A.
AMAZING!!! Just came out of this restaurant. Such a lovely and authentic place. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was brilliant and the service was excellent!!! Thanks to the whole team for the marvelous experience. Will be back very soon 😊
I.
The greeter was very nice and guided us to a table during the bush dinner hours. Special menu was okay tho the risotto is slightly on the salute side. The Mario pizza is tasty and highly recommended. One of the waiters was quite rude when he came to pick up our bill. May give it another try if I am in the area again. And it’s a kid friendly place.
J. R.
The Atmosphere was nice, it was busy for a Thursday. The food was very good!

Service was exceptional, food was beyond amazing. Flavoursome food and great wine 👌
Highly recommended and will certainly be back again.

Can't say anything wrong about this place the food was impeccable, I had the beef ragu and I'd was delicious the meat was so tender in melted in your mouth. I have never been in an Italian restaurant like this it was not one of your generic bog standard restaurants I feel this was more traditional Italian but it was by far the best I have had! The staff were lovely and we very helpful they even made a dish for my fiancé that wasn't even on the menu. The price of all we ate was really good aswell. I wish there was extra stars I could give them because it was perfect!!!
A. A.
Really nice place and friendly staffs. The rigatoni da mario and their tiramisu desert are really delicious!
H. B.
Da Mario is a great Italian restaurant! I had an Aperol Spritz which was delicious and huge. For a starter I had Mozzerella, and for my main pasta. Everything was delicious and the service was great. They had outdoor and indoor seating.
A. D.
This is my local Italian restaurant. I went there many times and for many occasions. Lunch, happy hour and dinner. Never been disappointed. Great service and fresh ingredients. Start off with a charcuterie platter to share. And then add any other appetiser you wish. Next get some fresh pasta. I love the clams spaghetti (spaghetti alle vongole). And finish off with some incredible tiramisù or pistachio gelato.
They make a pretty good Aperol Spritz too!
S. B.
Love the food and the staff! Great central location. Get the prosecco and ice cream for dessert, yum!
R. C.
Delightful Italian restaurant close vicinity to Hyde Park and Gloucester Road station. Outside seating available it was a lovely lunch with my wife. The service staff and management are friendly and they don't take reservations at the moment so we had to wait 20mins for a table. The food was delicious we opted for garlic tomato pizza bread, Ravioli filled with Ricotta and another creamy pasta, I would thoroughly recommend this place and we will definitely return.
H. A.
My friend and I shared bruschetta, the fusilli and a tiramisu. Food was good! One of the waitresses who served us the tiramisu was absolutely lovely! She was very warm and smiley but the waiter who took our order was quite the opposite unfortunately. I found some of the waiters to be quite unfriendly and brash.
K. G.
Delectable pasta, slow but decent service. stunning halal menu. best non-alcoholic tiramisu. Summary: would return just for the amazing choice of halal food.
f. n.
I've been here many times and the food is always great. They are extremely accommodating for halal options and help make any dish halal. The best thing is how friendly the staff always are and how lively the place can be. Would definitely recommend!
N. C.
Great food and good service👍🏻 Highly recommend!!
E.
Friendly staff, good food, reasonably prices. Can be a little noisy and you're very close to the next table, especially upstairs, but it's a lovely lively yet relaxed atmosphere. I often go here for dinner ahead of a concert at the Royal Albert Hall which is only a short walk away.
S. B.
Have to ask for the halal menu. I had the Pizza Queen's Gate; it was nice but expected authentic Italian flavours but wasn't very different to other common restaurants that serve pizza. My friend really enjoyed her seafood pasta dish. I'm giving it a 4 because the staff let a customer's dog run around the restaurant the entire time, not hygienic at all, and also the waiter was seemed annoyed that we weren't spending a lot.
R. G.
This is probably the best Italian restaurant I’ve been to in London and it’s no surprise why princess Diana used to go here. The sea food spaghetti was delicious and came in a good sized portion and the started we got was a garlic pizza bread, which also was delicious and enough for two people. We also ordered two Aperol spritz, which came in quite a large glass and was very enjoyable. We also got desert as well and that was also very delicious and freshly made. The staff who were very welcoming and attentive and polite made the experience much better. The restaurant environment is very well looked after and very clean as well and it is in a very good location in my opinion. The overall experience was perfect and it doesn’t get any better than this. I would like to also add that I like the decor of the restaurant as it made me feel like I was back in Venice again. 10/10
N. K.
Let me start with that - It was fantastic! AND THEY HAVE A HALAL MENU. The food down to the service everything was perfect. The staff are very! attentive and super sweet. Now the food, we ordered a few bits - some off the halal menu some off the a la carte, but it did not disappoint at all. Flavours were authentic, portion sizes are ideal - I mean we were full and we was a party of 3. Top quality ingredients, full of flavour and filling food! Prices are reasonable if not great for the area, we will be going back 100%..

Da Mario is a special little restaurant in South West London with an interesting history and delicious Italian food.

What a beautiful place !
The food is very well cooked and excellently presented ( I got my Gnocchi and it was over my expectations ) staff are polite and helpful
O.
Pizza Regina and rigatoni Mario was great.
J. W.
We went last night before going to the Albert Hall. As always it was excellent, the food is just the right size and was delivered hot and all at the same time for our group of 8. My only issue is that sometimes it’s really noisy, and that’s because I’m old! We shall be back!
P. D.
My partner and i were looking for a place to eat just before attending a concert at the Royal Albert Hall. We found Da Mario ! It was busy, we had not booked but the owner found a table for two.Service was excellent. As time was short we only had pizzas, and we agreed they were some of the best pizzas we had eaten. If only we had time for Tiramisu, Cappuccinos and Limoncello! Already noted for a return visit!! Thank you.
Y. L.
One of my favourite Italian restaurants in London ! Best seafood spaghetti and Tiramisu ever tasted so far. Great service and dinning ambiance. Will definitely recommend to my friends.
R. C.
The service is so good but their food however is very good, is not as the best one from my point of view. In special if considering the price - a little bit high. Undeniably very popular and traditional in Kensington for their pizzas. Highly touristy as well…
H. A.
If you looking for real Italian food then you on the right place
S. J.
Reasonable portion sizes that give you room for their delicious desserts.
I. A.
Very delicious Italian food. Pizza also served here. Staff are very professional, helpful & polite. The place is a bit small but it really deserves to be visited if you are looking for quality food & service
G. C.
Delicious Italian food. Orange juice is very fresh.
J. N.
Best seafood pastas!! We had the Seafood spaghettini and Squid ink pasta with large prawn and both were delicious, but the squid ink probably our favourite and the prawn was huge! We also got garlic pizza bread to mop up the sauce with, would recommend that too! Loved this place and the service was great, definitely will be back to try more!
A.
Fairly good food but highly overrated for what it is. The pizza is fine but you can do much, much better in London. Not sure how to describe it, but it's not like the ones with super nice and thick doughy crusts. Prices are decent considering it's in such a posh area. The pasta dishes looked tasty, but nothing special. Not quite sure how it's gained its currently fantastic reputation.
L. L.
Very busy place. We went for lunch and you will need to wait. It's better to make a reservation. A lot of Chinese tourists come here.
Food is good, however could be lighter on the salt. Seafood pasta is very nice. Has a decent amount of seafood and tasty sauce. Pizza is nice, but nothing special. Prices are pretty normal for the area. Service was decent too. Tables are very close to each other so not much room.
r. k.
Always one of the best go to italians in town. The food is great, service always very friendly and enjoyable all round. Very excited to go again. Prawn Gambas and Aubergine Parmigiana are top notch. Wine list is a good length and not marked up like a typical London restaurant.
A. J.
One of the best restaurants in London, what an amazing place. Am so fortunate to have it close by. Amazing food because of the high quality ingredients and a super tight knit team who only give amazing service. So much care given by Marco, will always appreciate your hospitality.
Q. N. A. B.
Such a good & tasty spaghetti & pizza. Have halal option too. Spaghetti Sapore De Mare is the best and my all time favourite 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
K. M.
Made a reservation for 1930 and had to wait outside the entrance on a pavement for 35 minutes with other guests also with reservations - this is on a Saturday.
It’s frustrating to accept reservations but not honour them. This is because there is no end time once you’re at your table so they run out of tables, and then can’t honour your reservation.
Once you’re in, the service and food is fantastic. Prices are good too. Probably wouldn’t return unless it was on a quiet midweek evening where I knew I’d get in for my reserved time.
M. A.
This place is just awesome. I really wish I'd discovered it earlier. The food is delicious, full of flavour, always served super fast and piping hot! The staff is always warm and welcoming.
I would highly recommended the seafood dishes, especially the mixed seafood pasta & all other Neopolitan specialities.
If you're anywhere around the Kensington area, this restaurant is well worth a visit!
H. J.
It's a nice takeaway with lots of choice. The pasta I had was big which is not normal and arrabiata done the right way with soft spice not too much. My friend has pizza and it's high quality, sorbet is home made and amazing. Only thing is when you book for takeaway with the platform it's not with a time given but you cannot complain for small business with friendly people all working hard for their best.
D. G.
Absolutely love this restaurant. Definitely my favourite in London. The atmosphere is great, staff is extremely friendly and food is exceptionally delicious. What can be better?! 👌
Highly recommend!
O. C.
One of the best Italian food I ever had, very tasty. Love every dishes and the service is very good. Perfect pasta everything is just right, the pasta the sauce, and other seasoning. Even plain pizza bread is nice.

Such lovely place to dine. Tasty food. Reasonable price.

Food was great, the staff are amazing and will bend over backwards to please. The atmosphere is great and everyone around us had great banter! The little Colombian waitress was a hoot, super fun and made our night very relaxed. ;)

Wonderful place atmosphere was great very friendly and the food was superb would highly recommend.

Very tasty! Dishes are done very well and flavorful.

The seafood is really delicious and yummy, mixed with every rice so worth to eat

Nice pizza, lovely staff but not suitable for those who prefer more privacy
A. P. M.
Great option for italian restaurant in London. Their pasta was very fresh, and the gnocchi very light. Nice selection of wines. All for a very reasonable price. The ambience was casual and cozy. The staff was very high-spirited and cheerful.
K. C.
One of most well known place for Italian food in London. Pasta and pizza are very nice here. The best one I recommend is Tiramisu, which is very good to finish your meal with this dessert.
J. T.
Food tasted amazing.
Will definitely go back again.
Staff was very friendly and nice.
B.
Had a very delicious Italian dinner here; really had best pizza I’ve ever had in London & the pasta was also very exquisite. Try to reserve a table before coming as there’s usually waiting queues outside. The ambience is very Italian with lots of authentic Italian portraits inside. The food is honestly both a work of artistry and very tasty; it’s expensive here but it’s well worth it! It’s definitely a must try place for Italian cuisine lovers, I’d definitely come back again for their amazing pizza’s. Highly recommend.
O. K.
The loveliest place in Kensington! Amazing atmosphere and great portion sizes. Also the homemade gelato is delicious!
R. A.
Honestly the best italian I have had in London (and I have been to many Italian restaurants). The food is just delicious and the prices are so great what the quality! You feel like you're eating in Italy. The service is also great, so friendly and welcoming. I really recommend this place.
N.
Had to queue 20mins on a Monday night as we were a group of 6adults and 3 children, but was definitely worth the wait. First of all food was absolutely delicious, this definitely is my new favourite Italian can't wait to work my way through the menu. Staff was very attentive and accommodating! Highly recommend 👌🏼
S. S.
Very friendly staff and excellent food highly recommend great atmosphere too visited late afternoon before show at Royal Albert Hall very short walk away. Visited for 80th birthday celebration.
Y. O.
I've been to fair share of good italian restaurants, and I agree with other reviewers that this place is a bit overrated.
Food is above average for sure, but the service is sub par.
I understand there's people waiting outside but I was so rushed throughout the meal, I left within one hour of coming.
The waiter was super quick clearing any plates, emptying bottles, he accidentally poured my drink into my friend's and was only like oh sorry.
As soon as they cleared the table he asked if we wanted dessert, when we said no he just handed the bill.
When we sat there for 5 minutes another person and asked if we need the credit card machine.
With this kind of service, I don't think I'll be returning any time soon.
I had mixed grill, salad & pasta which was 7/10 at best.
R. G.
One of the nicest Italian restaurants west of London. Definitely worth a visit if you are around.
Better to reserve if you want to get a table on the ground floor and not in the lower ground floor
S. M.
The restaurant is located in a very pretty building, the spaghetti and olives were good, however the pizza was a bit bland for my liking.
M. d.
Absolutely wonderful night! Good food, great service. Our waiter was so happy when we tipped an extra £20.
A. W.
Kind enough to fit us in on a busy Saturday evening without a reservation, Maitre d' was full of good cheer despite juggling customers, waiters etc. Highly authentic, fresh and delicious food, and a wide choice on the menu. Highly recommended.
D. W.
Busy Italian restaurant that seemed popular with locals as well as tourists. It was straightforward to get a table, and there is lots of seating on 2 levels as well as outside. The food was great, although they forgot one pizza for us (otherwise they would have been rated 5 stars).
S. P.
Went to Da Mario yesterday for a large group Christmas meal. There was 19 of us and the restaurant was full so booking advised but they manage to serve us well. The food was really good and nice sized portions. The decor (as seen in the picture) is pleasing. We were a little squashed on our table. I have eaten here a few years ago and it was still the same quality. I would recommend going here if in the area.
J. v. D.
Perfect pizza outside Italy
Very busy and very good! Go here if you like good pizza, but make reservation! Because else you have wait inline. And don’t come late or your table is gone!
O. A.
The best Italian restaurants in London. They serve wide range of pastas and pizzas. Very good quality and reasonably priced. Fabio is a great manager and a host. Tables pre-booking are available and recommended especially in busy times.
S. P.
What a lovely surprise to find a "real" Italian restaurant in London that serves excellent food via friendly and courteous staff quickly and correctly to prices that do not require a second mortgage. Top spot, highly recommended.
C. A.
Easy going place, consistent service and quality of food. Service is not bad thought sitting upstairs is always a challenge. We love this place and will always go with or without occasion.
Y. L.
Amazing food - very authentic Italian taste
Really poor service - waited almost half an hour before the waiter returned with the bill
V. B.
Great service food was phenomenal really well priced and amazingly quick even tho it was very busy!! would definitely visit again recommended booking ahead 👍
J. L.
Best pasta I've had in London. Even the garlic was sautéed soft. Yum. Service was great. Gets noisy so don't expect to chill here. Wine was huge serving that I couldn't finish.
M. A.
Amazing service and food. The price of the food reflects and is definitely worth it. Decor is amazing too- I felt like I was in Italy. Will be back again.
h. l.
Quite well made, full of flavour and great service, only thing I will prefer is the pasta cooked Al Dente.
A. B.
Great meal with a vibrant vibe. The sea bass was well cooked as was their gambas and amatriciana. The place was rocking with people. So reservations are a must. Wine was a reasonable 19 pounds per bottle.
N. A.
If you’re looking for the best pizza in town, Da Mario is the place. Mediterranean salad is delicious and the gnocchi is just exquisite. Also, spaghetti Chelsea is yummy!
I go at least twice a month, usually once a week and the consistency is always there. You know what to expect and are never let down.
The pizza bread is sooooooo good, and full of flavour. I love Da Mario and when I’m not in town it’s the only thing I really crave.
N. C.
Squid ink spaghetti with prawn is a must! The garlic pizza bread is also nice. Staffs there are attentive and kind. Will go back for sure.
D. G.
One of my favourite places to go when I want some pizza/pasta. Really friendly staff and always have high quality foods! Yuuuummmm
P.
Amazing pizza and the and probably the best pasta dishes Iv tasted old school Italian restaurant.
No table cloths and only do pizza pasta and fish but very tasty food well worth a visit.
J. R.
Excellent food and service. Thank you, I’ll be back.

Delightful traditional Italian family restaurant
Second visit to Da Mario. First visit was on a busy Friday night. Maitre d' was very efficient at dealing with a queue of customers & getting everyone seated quickly. There's lots of space outside & in (more than you might guess).
We didn't know in advance that this was Princess Diana's favourite restaurant (may be an added attraction for some). However, it is very much a traditional Italian family restaurant & is not pricey. We got the impression that it is popular with locals. Children are, as you'd expect, very welcome & well catered for.
Description of Da Mario as 'pizza house' is inaccurate. Full range of Italian dishes is available: pizzas & pasta (some handmade, eg gnocchi), but so much more including excellent seafood - and, of course, gelato!
Both times we ate here, the food was superb, service prompt & efficient & we were made to feel very welcome.
Location is convenient for a meal before or after a visit to the Royal Albert Hall.
Thoroughly recommended! Thank you for your hospitality 😊!
M. M.
Call for reservations!! We tried calling all day until finally someone picked up the phone, would suggest stopping in the night before to make a reservation if you are local.
That being said, small place with a homey atmosphere that makes you feel like you are eating at your Italian Grandfathers house. The pasta fagioli soup and bruschetta are a must if they are on the menu!!! We rounded off the meal with Tiramisu which was amazing. Men would not be out of place wearing a button down and nice pants.
Would strongly recommend to anyone looking for comfort Italian food!!!
K. H.
Simple, clean & delicious. Probably the best pizza we've ever eaten. Words don't do it justice. Not to mention the service, impeccable.
M. W.
Amazing dining place. Very nice service and the food was incredible, best pizza we ever had.
Will definitely return👌🏻
R. Q.
Amazing food. Friendly staff. Would highly recomend. Enough said
j. w.
Always eat here after visits to Royal Albert Hall. Food very good staff lovely. Authentic Italian restaurant feel.
I. J. (.
There was a big crowd by the time we got there so I'm glad we made a reservation and we were told it would have been a 45 minute wait otherwise. The food was so satisfying and the service was super prompt. The appetizers were fresh and authentic. They have a modest selection of wine and the Pinot Grigio we had was delicious. The pasta was so phenomenal that I finished every drop of sauce on my plate. The tiramisu was suitably moist and tasty. I was already craving for my next meal by the time we were done with dinner.
S. S.
Disappointed after our first visit was fabulous but this evening not!
Finished up afterwards with stomach ache and in the bathroom all night!
A shame as we'd travelled from Spain and really looked forward to!
F. Y.
Brilliant and friendly staff with great Italian food! Though definitely book in advance, because it's always packed!
E. K.
Frankly quite disappointed. It is too overhyped. Certainly “instagrammable” decor inside and out.
However service wasn’t great. Came with a friend. We were seated on the basement floor, and was rushed throughout the entire meal- so kept being interupted or plates taken away when not finished. Waiter was always grumpy looking - so wasn’t pleasant at all.
Food itself was okay, but not amazing quality as per most people say through reviews.
J. L. G. C.
Exquisite taste food and excellent service.
A. L.
The pasta was truly spectacular. We never would’ve found this place if it wasn’t for a friend’s recommendation. The food was a higher caliber than the prices. Excellent service!
N. K.
The pastas are amazing and they close really late which is good. They were crowded even up to closing which is a testament to how delicious it was! I’ve tried various Italian places in London and this was definitely the best. Definitely order the Sapore Di Mare pasta (the first one on the pasta list), it was tasty and cooked perfectly :) The pizza was amazing as well!
P. H.
Very friendly staff, great atmosphere, I've had better pizzas, but it was fine. Yes, would go again.

Lovely restaurant with a charming Italian flair and good food. Booking recommended for dinner times.
Da Mario is a lovely Italian restaurant with a lovely decorated interior and traditional Italian cuisine.
Gluten free pizza and pasta is available (additional cost of £2.9) and judging from the menu, most of the starters should be gluten free as well. however, allergens are not listed so it might be better to ask in advance (some dishes would traditionally be served with complementary bread which might not necessarily be written on the menu - the waiter that day asked if he should bring some and I assume he did so because I have declared my allergies before that as opposed to serving it straight away).
In regard to the mains, it was very tasty and everyone in our group was pleased with their meal.
I‘ve had the chargrilled seabass fillets (“spigola alla griglia”), and it was a satisfying and generous portion. the skin was crispy and the fillets juicy and tender. it was rich in flavor as well and came with a side of mixed leave salad and tomatoes.
As I made the waiter aware of my dietary requirements when ordering, he not only double checked if I was having some of the starter that wouldn‘t have been suitable. I‘ve also noticed that my side salad came without dressing (someone else in our group ordered the same dish with the salad already seasoned) which I quite liked as well as I would know for sure the dish doesn‘t contain allergens from the pre-mixed dressing; and seasoning a salad oneself doesn’t take much effort anyway; condiments are available at every table - olive oil, balsamic vinegar and chili infused olive oil, salt, pepper.
overall, the food was nicely presented, had a well-balanced flavor and nice texture and portion sizes are satisfying. unfortunately, the dining room downstairs (where we were seated) had a faint smell of restroom cleaning agent; although subtle I was set off by it. I have also felt chilly, even after the place filled up. as it became busier the volume went up and given it is a basement room it can be perceived as being too loud. nevertheless, I‘d prefer to sit downstairs as the room upstairs is quite narrow.
I recommend this place as food and ambiance are pleasant but suggest to make a reservation if one wanted to come during dinner time. our group had an early dinner and we were lucky to get a table by walking in, however the place filled up quickly and guests would have to wait for quite some time to be seated.

Great food. Fantastic service. You can ask for half portion if you'd like (for a smaller price tag!) The blood orange sorbet was heavenly.

Good italian food, big portions, not expensive. Need I say more?
Definitely a place to return to!

A lovely place. Spaghetti Sapore Di Mare and Tiramisu were great, and the pizza was good.

Without any doubt, best Italian restaurant in London. Very special pizzas. Must try the 4 cheese pizza and seafood pasta.

Decent, unpretentious Italian restaurant in South Kensington, not far from the Royal Albert Hall and Gloucester Road underground station. We met there as a group (two groups, actually) ahead of the John Williams concert. The service was friendly, if not terribly efficient - the food can be considered solid neighbourhood Italian. The pizzas and pasta aren't spectacular, but freshly made - though at downtown London prices of course (UKP 11 for a standard pizza). I myself had the sepia and shrimp mixed salad, also at UKP 11 - and it was okay, but not better than okay. The atmosphere is nice, if very busy. Solid option near RAH.

Great value, delicious food, and friendly service. We had a really nice time and will be back for sure.

Great food, bit fast on the service, but unfortunately we had the smell from the toilets wafting across everytime someone opened the door which was quite unpleasant, think they need to sort their drains out.

What I like about Da Mario is that they don't do dishes like spaghetti Bolognese and spaghetti carbonara that you can easily find in almost every Italian restaurants, instead they do pasta like Fusilli Campagnola 🍝with tomato & cream, onion, Italian Salsiccia (Italian sausages), roasted pepper and fresh basil 😍🍴 Don't always judge food by how they are presented! Presentation of the fusilli didn't look appealing to me but tomato sauce and Italian Salsiccia were delicious! Defo one of the best pasta I've eaten in London! 😋

Great food but be prepared to Keep staff on their toes as you can easily be left waiting due to how busy it is.

As always excellent food and service. Portions getting slightly smaller but still remains great

Small place. The waiters are very friendly. The food is okay as it a little bit too cheesy for me.

Such a great food, great quality, great dinner in Gloucester Road.
Bread with garlic is simply delicious.
Pics and paintings on the walls give a pleasant atmosphere.
The staff is friendly and gentle.
La prossima volta che saremo a Londra ci torneremo sicuramente!

Amazing food, atmosphere and service. Hats off to the staff, it was so busy but they managed to deliver with a smile...thank you 😊

Always the Best Italian 👍👍👍

Good food and friendly service that can deliver fast if you're in a hurry. The pizza we had was the Calabrese with nduja, which is spicy and we enjoyed. The salad was also excellent.
They don't just do pizza and pasta though as we spied other items such as prawns and fish on the menu

Food and wine delicious !!! They have a photo of Diana and Dodi on the wall. They used To have dinner there. But It’s not an expensive or chic place !!

Always the nicest Italian food. Consistently good quality with friendly waiters. The fennel salami and vongole are my favourites.
Even now with the threat of covid- the restaurant is socially distanced and waiters/waitresses wearing masks.
We come with two children who finish every crumb on their plate!
Ottimo cibo.

I've been here a many times as my university is just next door. I would really like to give this restaurant a 5 as the food is simply stunning, especially the squid ink spaghetti on the weekends, the pasta, Burrata and Tiramisu. However, expect to get bad service occasionally as the owners and waiters can be disrespectful. For example, if you want to challenge the restaurant about a dish or problem, then expect them argue with you impatiently.
To the owners: I can totally understand it is stressful to run a business and sometimes you may not like customers giving you criticism. But please also keep in mind that customers are here to have a good time because your food is great and respect you for that.

Da Mario is an authentic taste of Italy in the heart of South Kensington. The unassuming entrance to this trattoria conceals behind its threshold, a lively, welcoming, atmosphere, with a menu that is sure to please even the most discriminating appetites; consisting of classic Italian fare, including seafood and vegetarian options. The crispy flat garlic bread and baked gnocchi are well worth a try. For the more adventurous, the fantasia di mare is a hearty delicacy. Whether you are a resident of, or visitor to London, laugh, dine and enjoy as their hard working and attentive staff ensure a fabulous dining experience.

The pizzas were delicious. They can be gluten free with a suplement of £2,80 but still amazing.
I fully recommend it!!

one of my all time favourite restaurants . wonderful pasta and i always get the same dish when i order. complaints about the pasta are simply untrue i have found their food to be delightful and adequate in portion sizing. my only complaint would be that the online menu and the restaurant menu do not match each other

Every time we go there the food is amazing and the service is great. It has become our go to italian restaurant and we’ve recommended it to all of our friends

We went to Da Mario for dinner. Food was excellent. The staffs were quite friendly at the beginning. However, half way through the dinner, a large group of people came in and the place (we were sitting downstairs) became extremely noisy that we could not hear each other and had really bad headache. The staffs also became too busy to serve us.

Being Italian, I can say the pasta is authentic. Tiramisu is so good also, good drinks and great service.

Great food and atmosphere. We went on a Wednesday night in the rain and had to queue to get in. I'd say booking is advised.

Great place for dinner! I’ve had the best seafood pasta!! The atmosphere is nice and the staff is very kind. Will definitely eat there again if I’m around the area.

Fantastic food and service! Best dining experience I've had this year.

alio olio was fantastic! It was pleasantly spicyn and the aroma of garlic was so tasty. Tiramisu was a good choice too as it wasn't too sugary. Friendly servie with authentic Italian vibe. No wonder why princess Diana dined there.

I had a great experience at this italian restaurant. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the food is extraordinary, it is like a short travel to Italy.

The food was delicious, however the service could have been much better, slow with ordering and felt like we were being rushed out the place; very impersonal. Also no non-alcoholic beers or mock-tails available which was disappointing.

One of best pizzas I’ve ever tried

Great broccoli pasta and pizza, cozy place. Expensive yet worth trying. Liked it

The food is great and delicious. Also, it looks colourful that make me hungry.

Best pizza joint I've ever been to. Stopped going the regular High Street pizza joints after experiencing this place around 20 years ago. Pizza = Da Mario's. And now with halal options...
f.
Best tiramisuin London ! Ambiance, all their pizza and pasta were amazing, lovely staff and excellent service
T. S.
The dishes are perfect, very tasty, well presented, decent portions for the style, ok prices. The wine list is partially annoying: too many "natural style" wines, not many options by the glass, almost all young wines. What I got was anyway very good. No sherries on the menu, dessert wine list a bit confusing. The service was very good, but the dishes might be better paced. I'd definitely go back.

Affordable and authentic Italian food in Gloucester Road. The place is way fancier than its prices suggest. They specialise in pizza, pasta and seafood. The pizzas are big enough for one person and there's a good variety. The seafood is of excellent quality. Service is fast and friendly. An excellent choice if you're in the area.

Gorgeous proper Italian food, definitely worth the wait. Yummy

Ok, this place is simply perfect. The style and decor is nice and sort of vintage which we liked. For anyone who appreciate nice fresh made pizza and seaf food, you will know it's excellent from the first bite. My wife, my sister and myself really enjoyed it. Staff were helpful and we walked in despite no booking and place was busy. Definitely recommend this place and worth going!

2nd time I've been 1st time couldn't knock it at all 2nd time a waiter there was really grumpy I know we all have bad days so would try again

They are a very good Italian restaurant. I love it. Staff are friendly. We go there often. Many times I bring my tour group (small groups) there. My customers are very happy too. This is strong recommendation. Oh! And don't forget to book in advance too.

Great pizzas and pastas, seafood was delicious. Good service. Starters and tiramisu ok.

The food was outstanding and very reasonably priced considering the location. Would highly recommend.
