Visited here without booking just before a theatre visit. Found a table for two straight away even though it was very busy. Good service and lovely food.

Friendly staff, great location & wide ranging menu. Food was very nice, wide range of options available. We tried goats cheese & aubergine starters and risotto/ lamb shank for main. All dishes were excellent. 12mins walk to West end so we ended up rushing but would def visit again. Busy Friday Evening so recommend booking ahead.

Food was delicious, the decor was a nice fusion between modern London and traditional Italian. Service was excellent too, I asked what's the best to order on the menu and the waitress pointed to the top three without a moments hesitation. That's when you know a waitress actually knows the food!

Food excellent. Loved the main courses but the dessert WoW, probably my favourite dessert ever. It would have been 5 stars, except a few of the waitresses are miserable and could do with being more friendly, even a smile occasionally could be good. In a people industry this is the one let down of the restaurant, and staff need to learn how to do 'small talk' with customers and be more friendly.

Walked in to this restaurant one day that happened to be my birthday too, myself and husband were looking to have a special lunch and this was the place, atmosphere was wonderful, it was clean, had such a good vibe, the staff was polite and friendly, but the food was the most incredible. Excellent service, and authentic high quality food. This was our fourth visit and it didn’t disappoint. A meal for two with starters, mains and two drinks without a tip came to just under £60. The restaurant is located directly next to Charing Cross Station, its only a 5 minute walk to the platform.

Found this restaurant by chance whilst sauntering between Embankment and Charing Cross. The exterior was appealing and the Open sign by the door was an encouragement to go in. Although I was the only one there at 11.55 am, I was given a nice welcome and quickly ordered drink and meal. The quality of food and service was great. Very enjoyable and quickly followed by tiramasu. A great performance from a beautiful member of the team.

A surprisingly good Italia restaurant, it's been here for years, but on such a high foot traffic street, and tourist passage i always gave it a miss. So was most pleasantly suprised by the quantity of food and friendly service the other day when I ended up there. I shall be going in again!!

A busy and energetic Italian restaurant with an extensive menu and excellent customer service. The vibe here is warm and welcoming with rustic decor and walls lined with bottles of wine. The restaurant is split onto two levels the main floor (accessible from the street) and basement seating consisting of a medium sized area which can be used for larger groups and a couple of break out rooms. The dishes are hearty and well cooked, with bold flavours and generously sized portions. It's not fine dining, but glorious comfort food. Drinks are pricey but that tends to be the norm given the area, and the food does offer good value. Of particular note, is how hard the staff worked. We visited with a large group (around 40 people) and though we had given a la carte meal selections in advance, there were still some changes here and there. Understandably, there were a couple of glitches over the course of the evening, but our waiters went out of their way to remedy errors or issues. Though the overall rating is 4*, without hesitation, the staff offer 5* customer service. If Italian is your go-to cuisine, the L'ulivo should be firmly on your list of favourites.

Arrived about 21:30 having been turned away at 2 other restaurants as it was 'too late to serve us' we ordered 3 mains, 2 beers and a soft drink, and one sorbet. Very quick service (food in less than 15 minutes) good quality and tasty. Total bill just over £80 (seafood pasta, spaghetti milanese and a calzone main) so not a cheap option. My only niggles 1. The food could have been a little hotter, it was fine, but I like my calzone piping. 2. The card machine is set up so that you can't pay unless you leave a tip of a pre-set percentage (you can choose from three or four options starting at 5%). Personally I always tip (unless the service is terrible) but I object to it being compulsory and also prefer to tip in cash as then I know my server actually gets it.

Booked this place for a Book Club meet up that was also celebrating it's 1st birthday. We needed somewhere not too noisy where we could have a group of 10 people and be able to talk together and somewhere that wasn't too difficult to find. L'ulivo was in fact on the same street as our usual meeting spot! Having the space in the basement was great as it allowed us to break out a bit more if the group got larger but the music was also more muted here. The food was delicious and covered vegetarian and vegan diets and service was excellent. Booking was extremely easy online and they read all notes you provide so catered for the request of the basement space as well as a tomato allergy. None of us had ever been here before and did not know about it but all praised the venue. It has now become our regular Book Club meeting spot!

The venue itself is clean and smart, the toilets are even posh as hell. 4 people ate here a meal and had a beer each the price was around 80 pounds. If you can consider Bella Italia cost me 70 pounds for 2 people you can see the value for money here too. 10/10 would deffo go again.

If you’re looking for a modern italian restaurant with great food this is the right place. The staff is very friendly, the restaurant itself is nice decorated and quite small so if you want to come during busy times i would recommend getting a reservation. The menu has classic italian recipes with a twist. We got garlic bread started, it was good and light. For mains we got 2 types of pasta. The portions are fair for the price, the taste is really amazing. Overall we had a great experience and i would definitely recommend this restaurant if you want to try real fresh italian style dishes.

I went there with my 2 adult daughters. We all found the food delicious with a good choice of pasta and pizza, plus meat and fish dishes. We were all delighted with our choices, and the portions very generous. When I left some of my chicken, because it was too much, the waitress immediately asked if there was a problem. In spite of the fact that I was so full from my main course, I managed to share a tiramisu, which was perfect. The place and the venue were well placed for Charing Cross Station, and the atmosphere was lively although a bit noisy.

Italian restaurant, I went at lunchtime, many business people dining, the waitresses were seemingly rushed off their feet, but on fact they were well in control, my pizza and drink were served on double quick time, as was everyone around me. I am not keen on going into London, I am honest enough to say so, I find it expensive, a frantic pace which is mot to my liking, and dirty. That is my honest opinion so when I tell you that the restaurant L'ulivo is truly excellent and bucks the trend for London, you will know I am telling you my honest opinion. Indeed, I find I have to argue against my own comments. This fine restaurant is relaxed, most reasonably priced, with a good wine list and a menu that will satisfy just about anyone. I can highly recommend this restaurant and yes, I would return next time I head into the metropolis. Great stuff, well done, and thank you for showing me the better side of London.

Visited pre theatre. Very busy, very noisy.Food was good, though the sauce on my lasagne was very r unny.Service was a bit hit and miss and although there were lots of staff milling around they did not appear to be allocated to particular tables, this caused a few problems with ordering .We were asked if we wanted to see desert menu but it did not arrive so after about five minutes we asked another member of staff who brought menu and eventually yet another staff member took our order and was delivered by a fourth staff member. Also our drinks order was incorrect but this was reminded efficiently. A bit of a hit and miss experience.

This is a nice little quiet Italian restaurant that's tucked off on a little side street near embankment station. There's lots of seating in there. I ordered a plate of gnocchi which is actually pretty good and your keys were cooked perfectly and the sauce was quite tasty the service was great I will definitely repeat next time I am in London

I can't believe Im saying this, but... there might just have been a tiny bit too much cheese on our pizzas. I know, i know, blasphemy, but it did make the slices a bit greasier than they needed to be, which is a shame for such lovely thin crust. Cosy little Italian restaurant near Embankment tube station although there is room to accommodate larger parties in the basement. Reasonably priced for a restaurant so near the heart of London. Extensive menu serving various pasta dishes, pizza and even burgers. Good choice of vegetarian options too.

The restaurant was attractive, unpretentious and helpful. We had a luggage which they allowed us to keep in a corner of the restaurant while we ate. The set menu was very reasonably priced. Other prices were also fair.Its location is excellent and provided an extended family to meet and enjoy a catch up with out being chivied or rushed. It is very close to Charing Cross Station and convenient for the theatre which is opposite. We were really grateful for the welcome we received. Thank you to the owners and staff.

Next door to Charing Cross station it is an ideal venue to have a pre or post theatre meal. But as it is open from late morning until night it is also handily situated if you are visiting one of the greatest cities on the planet. I didn't give it five stars because my carrots were under cooked. So why so high a rating? Because I've eaten at this restaurant previously and on those occassions my meals have varied from good to excellent. Price wise they are what you would expect for central London. Expect to pay anything from about £11 upwards for a main course. Our waitress must have a photographic memory. We all chose different dishes with add-ons and drinks. She got it spot on without recourse to pen and paper or any electronic devise. A visit to London isn't cheap but at L'ulivo's you will get value for your pounds spent.

Very nice place with quality food and good wine selection. But, especially for the wine, they charge a bit more than fair, at least for my point of view. While, the pizza is good and the prices are fine. 2 Pizzas, 1 mushroom and gorgonzola, a bottle of Nero D'Avola for 53£. The service is ok!

Good and fresh condiments but the base of the pizza is just one step better of big brands. Wow, really surprised at all the negative reviews. My friend and I had a very nice lunch here, the staff were pleasant, service was good and I thoroughly enjoyed my pasta dish. The price was reasonable for London at about £15 per person for a main course and soft drinks. My meal was very tasty penne con carciofi and my friend enjoyed farfalle con gamberetti which were from the a la carte menu. There is also a lunchtime special menu of 2 courses for £9.95. The location is very convenient, just a few steps from Embankment and Charing Cross stations and it appeared to be very clean and tidy. I will definitely return.

The food was just standard, I had a seafod spaguetti (in the menu known by an italian name), shrimps small as 2mm because they are overcooked, pasta should be hand made or artisan. Service was not good, they did not even say thanks for the tip, or for visiting. Not coming back.

It's a surprise. After seeing the rating i was expecting to be disappointed. But the service was fast and the food really good. We had an amazing starter, Gamberoni with chorizo and shallots, followed by very good main courses. A perfect steak served rare as I like it and a perfect "Anatra all'arancia' (Duck a l'Orange). One more Italian food option in the heart of Central London. However there are better Italian food options available. A bit too expensive and one can get better value for money at other places. Looks attractive but the food and service don't complement the decor and outer appearance.

Okay first of all it was so hard to remember the name of this place or to find it on the map. But I will always remember the service I got here. I asked a lady if I could use a computer because I needed to print out some documents for my visa and she blew my mind she said "I'm very sorry we don't have any computers here except for the tilts but if you come with me I can show you a cyber where you can get all you want done!" and she walked me outside and showed me! I could instantly tell that she wasn't English but she was very intelligent. Nice one guys for hiring someone intelligent not who Would have said "I don't know or I'm not sure".
