Great food and service. One of the best if not the best carbonara in the UK. just a shame the pasta portion size is not in proportion with the pizza size but for the taste I wool not take away a star..non alcoholic cocktails are nice too. 2nd visit, will come back again.

Food was wonderful and the staff was extremely helpful in recommending different Italian items from the menu. I ordered the steak fillet, to be honest I would stick with the pasta dishes, I've tasted steaks better than this, it was a little dry for my taste but the sauce that came with it sort of compensated it. My partner ordered a Carbonara, it look so good and it was tasty. The potion of the pasta is a lot but manageable to eat, although it is quite filling. Full of taste and definitely worth getting. The restaurant has a wonderful, inviting atmosphere, the staff are also welcoming would definitely recommend.

Every time I visit my sister in London we try and fit in a meal here, so we had a another truly delicious meal there last night after my arrival. The service was great and friendly, they were generous with the parmesan which I love as some restaurants aren't. The food was excellent with large portions which we couldn't finish but we gave it a really good try. The Christmas Dec's are really tastefully done too which just adds to a lovely environment and meal out.

First of all, we didn’t get a friendly greeting from the waiter when we walked in. In fact, it was a little rude. He asked for the time and once we told him, he said we had to be out by 10PM. Excluding the initial greeting, we both really enjoyed the food and the service here. The food was tasty, the restaurant was warm and the rude waiter was actually very quick and efficient. The food was a little overpriced, however we still enjoyed this restaurant. There is outdoor seating for smokers, or for warmer months and it was pretty clean inside. Parking may be difficult at peak times but there are side roads that could be an option.

We had a lovely meal here. I had the garlic mushrooms to start, a chicken, spinach and cheese pasta bake for main and then Tiramisu to finish. The food was very tasty and portions were generous and it was reasonably priced. The staff were all friendly too.

Me and my hubby was in town for 2 days in September and I must say this restaurant was outstanding, staff was so friendly , the food was just wow , we had a starter of garlic bread pizza which was massive. I also had ripeye steak and my husband had TBone steak , all comes with fresh veg and chips . I loved it that much I got a takeaway pizza before my concert the next day . It always looked busy and we loved the staff who looked after us, they even knew we were new and from up north. I really hope to go back again some day thankyou pepenero your awesome.

We booked straight away unlike other restaurants they wanted us even though it's busy and the owner came up when he came in and still remembered us and greated us , I am in customer service and that for me is a great touch . Huge selection of Italian cuisine. Don’t be put off by the large menu, they do it all to a high standard. We visited during the Help Out Eat Out scheme and they managed so well with the staff they had and how busy it was. Attentive staff and brilliant food. Definitely worth a visit.

Absolutely brilliant Italian food with enormous portions. This was probably the highlight of our week in London. 7 of us ate and every single dish chosen went down s storm. For my meal the meatball starters were great, the pizza for main was also very good and you could tell the quality of ingredients used. They even accommodated one of our group by bringing a main with the rest of our starters in order for them to catch a train. Great food and friendly staff.

Party of 4 of us popped into this place on a regular Friday night before the big Pete Tong gig over the river at the o2 and without booking we were sat. Service was swift and polite. Menu is extensive so you are spoilt for choice. But we all had different dishes, all of which were tasty and although portions were huge, it didn't sit heavily so I left feeling well fed and comfortable. I would highly recommend the tiramasu. Freshly made in house apparently. But maybe share it. The bill arrived and considering London prices and all, 4 of us ate with alcohol for under £70. This place is a gem, if you are staying in the local hotel, check it out! You'd be silly not to.

My wife and I love this place, we try to go as much as we can to be honest, often we go on our anniversaries or birthdays. It's easy to forget that you're in Canning Town, when you first enter the building, especially after the refurbishment. The staff there are fantastic and friendly. The food is wonderful. Amazing atmosphere. By far one of my favourite restaurants. They've also taken covid seriously, with QR menus, masked up staff, spaced out tables and hand sanitisers stations. Definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area or visiting.

We may have been unlucky to have visited on a busy night but the service at this restaurant was chaotic. The food, when we got it, was very good and their house wine tasty. The ambience post COVID is more canteen than romantic and the noise level was high. The menu is extensive and reading it on a phone awkward. We were too slow for the several waiters who pestered us for choices. Their food is freshly prepared and very tasty. Even flat out the kitchen produce a perfect medium rare steak. We didn’t try the desserts but it consisted of the usual suspects. Now the problem. Aside from being keen to take our order the rest of the service was increasingly poor. Cocktails appeared quickly enough and starters a few minutes late. Mains were very late indeed. We complained twice and were promised food that didn’t come. We were about to walk out when it arrived and two were obviously kept warm for a little too long. To be fair to the staff were contrite. They genuinely wanted to do better. They told us they had had a party of 25 unexpectedly and this has maxed the kitchen. We were given a discount on the bill and a free drink which was good. We will try them again hopefully on a quieter night.

We just ordered a chicken pizza and the seafood pasta dish, mussels weren't clean , we were biting into sand in some bites. I don't think it's normal for us to taste sand through the food. Few mussels weren't open, I am not an expert but I am sure they are all supposed to open when they are cooked.

Visited whilst on a business trip. My order was taken quickly, my drink was delivered shortly after. I Ordered 'The Don' pizza which is genuinely one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten. The food was delivered in no time at all, piping hot and perfectly cooked. Had profiteroles for dessert and, whilst it was a small portion, I thought they were delicious. The staff were attentive and very hospitable thoughout. Would definitely dine here again.

I LOVE this place. Tried it for the first time today with the man and the service is exceptional, the food is hot, tasty and authentic. We had the garlic prawns and Meatballs for starters. The garlic sauce was Creamy and well balanced with perfectly cooked prawns. Not chewy at all. The Meatballs were tender and the tomato sauce has a sweetness to it. Yummm. For mains we had The Don pizza, with actual caramelized onions that had a slight sweetness to then and that crispy, thin Italian base we love. We also has Spaghetti bolognaise. The Spaghetti was cooked with precision with a ragu that melted in your mouth. The profiteraroles tasted better than they looked. And they looked delicious. We will be coming here again.

We visited this restaurant on the first night fell in love and went back for our final night. The food is just perfect. Had dinner here by myself on a Wednesday evening as stayed at the Holiday Inn next door for work. The staff were courteous and attentive, and food arrived quickly despite the restaurant seeming quite busy when I arrived. I ordered the salmon pizza but requested for the rocket to be replaced with mushrooms. The staff were happy to oblige. The salmon turned out to be smoked salmon strips on top of the pizza. The salmon pizza also does have tomato sauce on it despite the menu specifying that this is not the case, but this did not bother me. The pizza was big, and very good value for money - I did not expect to find anything this reasonably priced in London and so close to the O2. I would recommend this place.

Visited Pepenero on a cold & windy Monday night and was immediately struck by the fact that the place was pretty full. Quickly saw the reason why as there was a great, friendly vibe in the restaurant, with charming, attentive service and superb food ... with very generous portions! Authentic Italian fare and rounded off with an excellent Grappa (make sure you ask the manager for the good stuff!!)

I was expecting bad food to be honest, my experience with Italian food around London was not so bad to be honest, but I was completely wrong, the food is really good and well served. About the sympathy.. We are a young couple who really appreciates good food and knows exactly what we'll done food means, but, sometimes it's hard to have a good restaurant experience because the people who work there don't get us seriously, and I guess that was just what happened, the owner was not so nice and welcoming to us... Well guys sometimes appearance don't mean anything :) I only give it 4 stars because on our last night we order the food to deliver at the hotel, we ordered a desert and we paid for it but they just didn't sent it... It was not cool since it was a expensive one.. I'm not sure if I will be back, but I'm sure if you go there will get good food.

It's in Canning town, its old school decor (outdated) food tasty but nothing special and an ageing workforce with no facial expressions. Polite but not real customer service. We had a warm welcome and was guided to seats, and allowed time as well as not forgotten about, while choosing from the varied menu. Location on a busy main road does this Italian restaurant no favours however it should not be overlooked as the quality of the food and service are excellent. Staying at the adjacent HI Express we decided for convenience and having read the reviews to eat here on our first night - we were not dissapointed and chose to eat there again before leaving. Apart from the excellent food I can also recommend the Sangiovese house red wine and they do a first class Irish coffee all at very reasonable prices.

Great food as always, I recommend the Carbonara, its one of the best in London if not contesting to be the best, been eating here for years everytime I come to London from Argentina. All their dishes are really good, the staff are really attentive providing a high quality service and management are hands on in the restaurant and quality control is 10/10, I definately recommend this restaurant to anyone whom asks me where to eat, with canning town station outside, it is extremely easy access for anyone taking Buses or the London Underground (Jubilee and DLR).

AMAZING - the best Italian I have ever had. I lived locally for 2 years and honestly, our household ordered almost weekly from here, it's SO good. We got delivery and dined. If only Pepenero was local to me now... They are very accommodating as well, e.g there was no problem swapping pancetta for broccoli etc. I highly recommend the Carbonara, Garlic Pizza Bread, Chicken Pasta, Main Chicken and Steak dishes. Spinach Ravioli. It's all amazing!

Small place, possibly family run? I went because it was the closest place open that said it did gluten free. I'm so glad I walked 35 minutes across London to go there. Not only did they 'do gluten free' but they understand it and the GF pasta was great. In fact the whole meal far surpassed any Italian chain I've been to. You'd hope that would be the case, but it's nice to see this reflected for us coeliacs too.

Was in Traverse City for three nights and came here for dinner for two. The first night we had the Burrata. Enough for two with delicious accompaniments. The best brussel sprouts I've ever tasted and the squash soup was perfect. The food and service was so amazing that we came back and sat in the bar two nights later. Great prices for Happy Hour. The Prosecco with strawberry was delightful. The pork gnocchi was the perfect blend. And lucky us! The owner had made Tiramisu. The food here was better than what I had in Italy. The kitchen is open and calm. If I lived in Traverse City I would come here every week. I've eaten at the majority of restaurants in TC This is by far one of the best.

These guys are not Italian for the record...does it matter?...the food isn't authentic and not high standard...that matters...anyway my thoughts as follows... Location: Well located and easy to find. Decor: Interesting but doesn’t look cheap however doesn’t feel romantic either! Seating: Plenty of space and easy to get a table most of the time. No need to book ahead! Menu: Good selection to choose from and options for vegetarians as well. Drink: Okay and some choice Price: Reasonable for the area. Around £40 for 2 Service: not great! I would not recommend based on the my 3 visits Overall: Ok experience not authentic pizza

The service was quite slow (actually the good was quick but the waiter was rather inefficient). Quantities were good but my pasta was slightly overcooked and was bathing in oil (tagliatelle al pesto). Dessert choice included British specialities. Nothing against it but when you claim to be an authentic Italian restaurant you stick to Italian desserts. Last but not least the kitchen was not closed and guests like me could "admire" the sad neon lights and smells of oil. A bad touch to start your dinner. Overall I was slightly annoyed by the average service and just above average food

Pepe Néro is a lovely Italian restaurant in the heart of Puerto del Carmen. Although small and unimposing from the outside, the views from the terrace are spectacular overlooking the sea and the mountains. My starter of chicken and shrimp salad was very substantial and extremely tasty – some of the nicest shrimp I’ve ever had. My main course of black ravioli with salmon was also very impressive and we would definitely recommend the tiramisu. The wine was very easy too drink as well. Overall, excellent food and fairly priced.

The ExCel area doesn't offer much restaurant to eat (if you don't want to spend £10 to go to the O2 Centre) so me and my boyfriend, along with my working group, were so lucky to find Pepenero, an Italian restaurant! It was only 10min walk from where we were staying. The restaurant is very nice and elegant, we were a bit embarassed to enter with our after-work tired face. The atmosphere is very cosy and nice, we got a table in a corner with a very fancy sofa. Service is excellent: I forgot the last time a waiter opened and served me water in the glass, even in Italy you cannot find this level of courtesy (only in very fancy restaurant, I guess). While waiting for our plates to come, they offered us some bread along with a sauce of olive oil and origan, along with some spiced olives. Everything was delicious. The food was excellent! I ordered a light Caprese (mozzarella cheese and tomatoes), it isn't easy to make such a simple plate because you need the right quality of ingredients, and you can bet they do! My boyfriend got a Margherita and it was HUGE! But also so good! It was thin as pizza should be and very delighful. "Probably the best pizza in my life, and I'm eating it in London" he said. (NOTE: He is Italian!) My co-workers got Tagliatelle ai funghi, a plate of pasta with mushrooms. Also their plate was huge! And looked so yummy. I was quite envious, but I regret nothing since my Caprese was also perfect. We were so so so satisfied of our dinner! I 100% recommend this place if you want to eat proper Italian food in London. Also, a waiter is (or at least speaks very well) Italian and the manager is very friendly. If I'll ever come back to London and drop by ExCel, I'll go to this restaurant again for sure :)
