Reviews of Sodo Pizza Bethnal Green
R. S.
Deeeelicious pizzas! I love how they have some different flavour combinations, I went for the the White Goat and my partner the Blue Art - both unbelievably tasty. Staff were very attentive and polite. Decor was cool as well, with an open kitchen. Will definitely be returning!
J. B.
Have to be the best pizzas in Hackney, if not London. And the guys are unbelievable, even slicing 40 pizzas for me and being so accommodating! Whether it’s a table for 2 or a big order this place is dreamy. And, the tiramisu is off the charts!
J. B.
Haven't dined in yet but did takeaway and delivery several times.
Absolutely delicious and tasty pizzas, can only be better if you dine-in I'd imagine. Staff always polite and attentive.
Prices: £9-12 for a pizza
L.
Some of the most delicious pizza I've ever had. Gorgeous vibes and friendly service too.
A. Y.
Very nice pizzas, great crust and sauce and I really enjoyed my pizza. Service great. However, it’s cooked in a normal pizza oven at like 400 Celsius and NOT a proper wood fired oven (like at Franco Manca, rudy’s, etc) and you can really tell the difference. If it was cooked in a wood fired oven it would be on another level, so if this doesn’t bother you disregard the 3 star and up it to a 5.

It's a slightly hidden but cute place down an alleyway. The pizza was excellent and the service was really good. Will definitely be visiting again.
D. R.
Cool restaurant with a unique interior design. Amazing food (definitely go for the chilli honey pizza) and refreshing organic white wine. Will be returning once lockdown is over! See you soon!
Also, our waitress Martina was lovely. Thank you :)
N. O.
Deeeeeeeeelicious! Had such a gorge evening here. I had the blue art pizza and a really light lager that I wish I could remember the name of...lovely staff and atmosphere. Can't wait to go back, thank you :)
P. C.
Good pizza, very good service (one waiter to many tables; he didn't get overwhelmed and didn't forget anyone). We shared some olives (very fresh) and I had the vegan 'Mary Jane' pizza; very inventive toppings! Walnuts work surprisingly well! I asked for additional chilli and was expecting to have to pay a few pence more, but was pleasantly surprised to see there were no extra charges. My boyfriend ordered the 'Los Pollos Hernandos' (the daily special) but wasn't as impressed as I was. He said it was decent, but slightly undercooked in the middle. But we both agreed we'd try one of the other locations. We also shard the brownie with ice cream and salted caramel sauce; it was tasty, but nothing to write home about.
The stand-out superstars were the cocktails with their homemade ginger beer. My bf got his with whiskey and I got mine with rum (the dark and stormy). The ginger beer isnt overly spiced, and the additional ingredient (we think it's apple juice?) adds a nice zing. And at £7.50 for a double, they're very reasonably priced :) the whole meal came to £24 each, which isn't bad at all!
M. B.
Delicious vegan pizza, the toppings were spot on and the pizza base AMAZING!! Will def come back.
No pics of pizzas as we tucked in as soon as it arrived 🤤😅
T. C.
Friendly Manager and Great Food. This opened recently and despite living just round the corner, we only just realised as it’s tucked away. The pizza toppings were amazing quality and the menu is simple, but a good variety with a non-cheese Vegan options and plenty of veggie stuff. Beers and drinks relatively cheap for East London too. We will definitely be back soon!
L. R.
We had a couple of excellent sourdough pizzas here. Staff is friendly and service was fast and efficient. We went for the special (with smoked mozerella and pancetta) and the meat feast. The menu also has a large selection of starters / sharing dishes and plenty of vegetarian and even vegan pizzas. Dessert menu looked great, we'll be back to try out some of the other pizzas, the burrata and the tiramisu!
C. V.
Best pizzas in East London!!
Very cozy restaurant with very cool vibes!!
K.
I love the pizza here, 10/10 even my Italian friends recommend it 😂
M. S.
Loved it there! Very cozy (so many of those arches aren't really), super friendly staff and amazing Pizzas
D. E.
⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ - Updating my review to reaffirm that this is the best pizza in London. Don't mess around, order the wicker man!
The place is fantastic. Some of the best pizza I've ever had, combined with amazing starters and a very strong beer selection too.
Highly recommend the burrata and aubergine starter. Then make sure you go for the nduja and aubergine pizza. It's - wow.
🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕

Favourite pizza in town!! Chewy but also crusty 🥰
S. S.
Lovely pizza, unique flavours and good drinks selection.
J. L.
Lovely music and big thin perfect pizza! Very friendly service. I want to especially highlight the tasty tomato sauce on my Margherita! Up for dessert too? TRY THE BROWNIE 🤩✨
m.
Amazing pizza and atmosphere. Great music, highly tecommend! If you don’t have a booking go to Redchurcg brewery next door for a beer while you wait.
S. P.
Arrived early for our reservation but we were greeted warmly and offered a table very quickly. The staff were polite and friendly. It took a while for them to take our order but they were quite busy so it was understandable. They have a novel way of dealing with distancing for COVID - anything and everything has been used as a screen between tables/areas - we were screened by plants on one side and a rickety screen on the other. It added to the fun feel of the place.
The food was the best thing though. The meats and pickles starter was delicious and the pizzas were perfectly cooked. I normally need something to dip my crusts in but the pizzas were so well topped that I could eat it all without any dips.
Highly recommended!
G. C.
Excellent service (very kind and professional staff). Excellent pizza with fresh ingredients. We came in on a Friday night without a reservation and they promptly seated us anyway. The special pizza (La Belle) was excellent, along with the dessert. We paid about £66 for three people, which is a very good price point for what we ate. The atmosphere was wonderful as well.
P. H.
Good pizza that i enjoyed. Staff are friendly and helpful.
E. D.
Great pizza and very nice staff! Their natural wine is lovely too
A. W.
Have been enjoying Sodo’s pizzas for years in their various locations and tried their brunch for the first time here at Bethnal Green last weekend. Best baked eggs I’ve had in a long time and amazing coffee. Love the focus on sourcing sustainable ingredients. My brunching partner also highly recommends the breakfast pizza! Will be returning for sure 👌🏽
D. S.
Fantastic pizzas, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Love this place ❤
P. B.
Sometimes when a traditional food is modified, it doesn't make it better and is gimmicky. With the sourdough pizza served here I can honestly say that I prefer it to regular pizza. The dough has a wonderful tanginess, and it is not so tiring after eating. This is a lovely little restaurant that I'm sure will expand. Much better than the sourdough chain many Londoners will have eaten at. Highly recommended.
J. L. M.
Really excellent, inventive and delicious pizza, and the railway arch setting - though not uncommon around Bethnal Green - is a real delight. Excellent natural wine (which I’m not always sold on but they’ve chosen well here) selection too. Service is great too.
A. A.
Great atmosphere, really friendly host - Martina (I think) went out of her way to describe the specials and I ended up ordering the special - it was amazing. Great flavours, great staff, cool atmosphere that doesn't try too hard. The salted caramel brownie and the tiramisu are must haves!
M. L.
In my opinion, the Wicker man is the best pizza in London 🤩
R. K.
One of our favourite restaurants – lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff and unbelievably delicious pizza. We’re big fans of the burrata, veggie pizzas and, of course, the tiramisu. Thanks to Martina who is always lovely!
M. B.
Had a brilliant pizza (and garlic bread) here. With a local beer (good selection available). Staff were friendly, had an interesting conversation about heritage grain that is used for their sourdough bases. Highly recommend.
A. C.
The place is a little bit tricky to find and caused some anxiety as to whether or not it might be a ghost restaurant, but once the door is found it's a very inviting, cozy place. Despite being only £7, I had the best pizza I've eaten in the whole of the UK. The sauce is particularly amazing, but no fault can be found in any of the other components. Personally I recommend the margherita, which shows off its quality ingredients without any distraction (and is the furthest thing from bland).
Shout-out to the French-speaking waiter with a million dollar (/pound) smile who was infectiously cheery.
C. M.
Fantastic. Small place but great service, would definitely go back, should become a regular local place for us. Pizzas were light, great ingredients with a range of options including vegan mains, sides and desserts. Good drink options too
O. M.
One of the best pizzas in London!!!
R. R.
This would be the best pizza in town but often the crust and underneath it is burned, which is a shame for the price we pay.
V. I. M.
VIMTO invited to Sodo Pizza Bethnal Green when in London last week. The place hidden in a back alley and after started walking from the main street didn't expect to see a very lovely lively place serving sourdough pizza, natural wine and craft beer located in a railway archway. The pizza, the starters and wine were all excellent and ethical service to match.
S. L.
A local favourite for yummy sourdough pizza (we go every few weeks!). Definitely try the Wicker Man pizza, but if in doubt, that magherita is always a great choice. Service can sometimes be a bit slow during busier periods but worth the wait. We sometimes go for the borrota - they used to have this relish of some sort that accompanied it which really lifted the dish, but it's still nice and creamy without it.
J. A. T.
We arrived at a busy time, however the waiter was really helpful, took our number and suggested we head next door down the same little back street to Redchurch Brewery and when a table became free he called us and gave a 5 minute notice! Excellent service.
I first had Sodo Pizza in The George & Vulture pub in Shoreditch and always enjoyed it, but hadn't been to a Sodo restaurant before. I'm very pleased to say the pizza was incredible. I had The Wickerman - meaty, cheesy, and the perfect amount of heat. I also had a slice of my partner's Dirty Boy (not a sentence I ever thought I'd write) and that was delicious too. Crisp sourdough crust, the base was foldable, and the tomato base was perfectly sloppy enough.
We topped off the evening with a tiramisu, recommended by the waitress. It was creamy, moist, and soaked in coffee. My only complaint with that is that there wasn't enough of it!
A really nice and relaxed place for a great pizza and a cold Redchurch beer. Blows Franco Manca out of the water. Will 100% be going back, especially as it's so close to home for me.
** My girlfriend has asked that I mention there was perhaps the toppings were a little large on her pizza, but that's a ridiculously niche quarrel to have when everything else was so perfectly on point for us 😂
J. S.
Was there with a friend at a busy hour and there was only one waiter; however, he was attentive and efficient and we had our pizza at a lightening speed (thanks to the chefs). Delicious pizza, no frill decor, overall great experience.
A. S.
My ‘adventure’ with Sodo started some years back when I’ve been asked to record a podcast in return for a free pizza :)
At that point they only had one branch in Clapton. Since adding Bethnal Green restaurant under the arches, I have had my new favourite spot to bring my dear friends. Pizza is one of the best I have tried and maybe I will be cursed forever, its much better than any I had tried in Italy. Napoli is on my holiday list this summer, so I will finally see if they match at a slightest!
M. C.
Found this little gem by chance and oh will we be back. Probably the nicest pizza I've had in a while in London. Shared some starters as well, go for the burrotta, it's heaven on a plate. Super nice smoky pickles as well! Pizza-wise I can recommend 'the wicker man', an insane experience of slightly hot nduja, Mascarpone and honey - wow wow wow. Came here on a Sunday night, service super attentive, fast and friendly. Last but not least, they pour natural wines which you will not find any cheaper in East London. Go there. Now.
J. H.
Lovely restaurant, easy to get to and approximately 5mins walk from Bethnal Green Underground station. The food was absolutely delicious and the waitress was really caring and polite. Will most definitely go again. Open entrance, so nice summer breeze flowing through...
L.
Delicious pizza, yummy desserts and friendly staff. Highly recommend the Lorena! 🐈
M. D.
Has to be one of the best pizzas in London, lovely combinations, fresh ingredients. All with super pleasant staff, great atmosphere and some good wine.
F. S.
Pizza is delicious and wine choices are good. Relaxed atmosphere and service is friendly. Can be a bit tricky to find since have to go through an alley way.
A. H.
Delish Italian style pizza & organic wine. <3
What more could you want?! Great location close to the overground & underground, with a nice ambience inside, too.
L. L. C.
Perfect. I don't have any other word for this place. Staff very friendly, a warm welcoming when you get in there. And the pizza was one of the best I've ever eaten
K. T.
Great pizza, friendly and helpful staff who were happy for us to swap ingredients on our pizzas, cute setting. Highly recommended.
D. B.
What a great find! Tasty pizzas and fresh, well cooked asparagus side. This place is on a quaint little back street with cobble stones... great evening post gym beer (or aperol) and pizza place.
C. S.
Sodo pizza is a must for locals and visitors. Fresh handmade pizza with great selection of natural wines. Can be quite busy, but a couple bars close whilst you wait for a table.
D. G.

(Translated) Pizza at it's best. Located in a small street under a railway track is this gem. Very well attended, for two you will spontaneously get a cookie, larger groups should book. The pizza (there is only pizza) is very good and does not miss anything. The restaurant is run by Italians who understand their craft and the very nice atmosphere does the rest. Wine, beer, desert and main course were delicious.

Pizza at it‘s best.

(Translated) (French below) Very friendly staff. The restaurant is indeed hidden in a shady street but the atmosphere inside is very warm and welcoming.
A pizzeria hidden in a street that certainly looks pretty, but the atmosphere is warm and the pizzas affordable and tasty - without being exceptional either. The staff (Italian) are welcoming.

Une pizzeria cachée dans une rue qui ne paye pas de mine certes, mais l'atmosphère est chaleureuse et les pizzas abordables et goûteuses - sans être non plus exceptionnelles. Le personnel (italien) est accueillant.
