Reviews of The Pasta Factory

A warm welcome and wonderful food. It's very clear the meals are prepared with love; love for food, and for good eating. The atmosphere is very friendly, cheerful and bright. Superb Italian wine by the bottle or glass rounds off the experience. Absolutely recommended.

Fantastic authentic restaurant
Great little independent Pasta restaurant, with knowledgeable friendly service a reassuringly short menu and good drinks options. Our Vegan diner was also well catered for. I’ve already recommended to other family members and hope to return soon.

Brief: Pasta destination
The Good: The homemade vibes, curated menu, excellent list of wines
The Bad: Having a three course meal is very filling
Must try: Battered aubergine flower with cheese filling (House special)
Summary: A weekday dinner, made reservations. We were early but got seated promptly. I kinda expected a large restaurant but was surprised by the small homely vibe to it. The staff were lovely with their recommendations on the menu. We began with two starters a battered aubergine flower filled with cheese and lamb skewers. Both were excellent. Then my pumpkin goat cheese ravioli was really nice. My friend got the black pasta with black garlic. I liked that one better, and my friend preferred my dish. The Italian style cola was a surprise. I got free biscuits. We are so full we couldn’t get dessert but the tiramisu looked amazing. Have to go back again.
Price: ££ (25£ for two course and a drink)

There’s a reason we weren’t able to just walk in and get a table on a Friday night and all the recommendations I’d heard were deserved - for fresh delicious pasta I’ve not been anywhere better! The interior is quite basic but that also gives an authentic vibe, and all the staff were very welcoming from arrival and throughout. There’s a number of blackboards throughout listing special dishes and the waitress was happy to offer recommendations and customise dishes to order too, after checking with the kitchen.
The lamb skewer starter was wonderful, presented just as well as the king prawn bruschetta. The side of bread and olives was equally as good with sizeable olives and tasty oil. My main of layered pasta (think lasagne) came with a huge portion size, lots of filling and had the nicest pasta I’ve ever tasted. Everyone else commented their their pasta was equally impressive and it shows that having it freshly made on the premises makes all the difference.
Given the size of the main dishes there was no need for desert but it’s a restaurant I will be sure to return to. The name and exterior appearance don’t do the incredible food justice and it’s rounded off by the brilliant staff - I can’t recommend it enough.

What an amazing experience. Excellent service by Dora ! Best pasta I've had in a long time !!! Such Italian vibes ! A five star place with a five star service!! I love the fact that the menu was precise and perfect!!

Exceptional and authentic Italian restaurant. I have been to Italy and also lived with two lovely Italian flatmates who agree this is one of the best places in Manchester for real Italian pasta.
This isn't your Ask Italian or Zizzi. Your pasta will be deliciously fresh and al dente and made with great care. I had a brief conversation with Luca and he said the venison is cooked at least overnight. The courgette flowers were delicious as was the homemade bread. I cannot praise my experience enough and am very grateful to have tried such a gem!
Between this and Noi Quattro you can get your Italian fix perfectly in central MCR!

The Ambiente was quite nice and homely and they have special deals on all the time. It was very yummy. I would say the price is justified however I do wish there was more actual pasta on the plate!
N. S.
Visited the place with my wife for lunch. Took them a while to find a ramp for my wheelchair but they apologized for the delay. The ambience is virtually non-existent - tiled floor, plastic chairs (some), white walls. The wine was ok. The pasta - we expected better. Both dishes were quite average. The menu is very small. The service is polite but rather slow. Overall, compared to the San Carlo restaurants, it's disappointing.
E. W.
Fabulous place for pasta. Great service and very good atmosphere. Will be back soon
D. W.
The Pasta Factory scores lots of points for authenticity. The Italian run restaurant does some great homemade dishes and even sells their own pasta on site. Good place to buy some guanciale ham and Italian cheeses too!
S.
Absolutely incredible place with fresh made pasta, seasonal menu, freshly baked bread and high quality ingredients. It's super close to shudehill which is very convenient. The service here is really good, and the food is presented beautiful. Good and REAL Italian food with amazing choice of wine.
A. H.
Really nice food and amazing service. There is nothing better than a small local business especially when it is an Italian restaurant. Bellissimo!
K. A.
Paccheri Funghi is exceptional (red plate) with an amazing sauce.
Good wine

Limited menu but everything on it is incredible! The staff were so friendly and helpful with our questions! Will be going back as soon as possible.

A five star review for this little gem of a restaurant. The staff were fantastic and welcoming, the atmosphere had a buzz to it and the food and drink selection were divine. We ordered bread and oil/vinegar and it was the perfect little appetiser before two delicious vegan pasta dishes! Definitely recommend and will be back!

A surprise meal out with my OH. We absolutely loved everything about this place: the lovely food, the friendly staff and the 'local' atmosphere. When I say local, it means seeing native Italian speakers visiting the place - surely that's the best sign to know the food has their seal of approval.
We ordered two antipasti and two pastas. The two antipasti : Vitello tonnato £8 (sliced beef in creamy sauce flavoured with tuna and capers) and Arrosticini £7.50 (lamb skewers served with truffle on bread). The portion was quite decent if compared to elsewhere with the same price tag. Both had their own uniqueness in taste and texture and we thoroughly enjoyed them. I couldn't decide which one I liked more as they were equally delightful.
The two pastas: Calamarata al nero con rana pescatrice £14 (I think that's the name in Italian but it's black pasta tubes with monkfish) and Bucatini pesto e burrata £13 (Thick hollowed spaghetti dressed in pesto and cheese). Again, the portion size was reasonable and both dishes were very vibrant and appealing. The pasta was just al dente which took us a bit to get used to. Otherwise, the flavours were all balanced, the ingredients were fresh and there was enough sauce / dressing. I preferred the Calamarata because it had a bit of zing from chilli but it was a tough choice.
Thank you The Pasta Factory for our dinner. Grazie.

Fantastic ambiance, great staff and food to die for, what's not to love! The squid ink pasta was amazing. We had planned to have dessert, but the portion sizes were far greater than we were expecting! Definitely worth a visit.

Splendid home made pasta dishes. Both dishes we had were excellent. Good staff. Wish we had time to eat more

Delicious fresh pasta and amazing tiramisu.

Superb food together with superb service. A total delight.

The best tiramisu I've ever tasted! Friendly staff! Amazing food!! Really enjoyed it and highly recommend!
F. K.
Great service and tasty traditional Italian food.
X. Z.
Friendly staff and good food
J. C.
Loved the place. Rustic Mediterranean aesthetic and simple yet delicious food. They use fresh pasta and lovely presentation too. Can I also add that I appreciated the staff. Friendly and knowledgeable!
T. G.
Best pasta I've ever had! We fully enjoyed this meal. High quality ingredients cooked to perfection. I also bought some fresh pasta to cook at home.

We were lucky to get a table for last Saturday at the Pasta Factory at the last minute and had such a fantastic experience. Our server, Maria, was great. Very patient and knowledgable and attentive when needed. The food arrived in good time and was delicious! You could tell the food was made with love and the flavours were incredible! The restaurant is pretty small and felt a bit crowded but had a good ambience. We were a party of 3 and had a bottle of wine, some antipasti to share, and a main each and it come to around £30 each including a tip. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
L. K.
Very nice place, good quality Italian cuisine and very polite and friendly staff. You can also buy home made pasta from there. I simply visit this place every time I am in Manchester!
T. R.
Hands down the best Italian meal I’ve had, including meals in Italy. The pasta is fresh each day, and absolutely divine. The sauces are delicious and everything feels like it is made with passion and love. Cannot recommend enough. 10/10, would definitely eat there again.
C. S.
Amazing Italian restaurant, there is a great vibe and the customer service is excellent. As Italian I can totally recommend it. The menu has a lot of interesting choices in terms of food and a great wine selection.
D. Z.
We went there a couple of months ago. Best pasta in town. Lovely and fresh. Service was great! Coming back soon.
F. K.
Great service and tasty traditional Italian food.

Great little place, walked past so many times and never went in (no idea why because I love pasta).
Great staff, great service, very attentive. Great menu, freshly made pasta. Well priced and worth every penny.
Absolutely delicious. (I actually had gnocchi not pasta) my wife had pasta and it was also very delicious. Not a thing to fault.
J. D.
Wow just WOW! Delicious, lovingly crafted pasta! Thoughtful and tasty vegan options - thanks for caring about dietary requirements! Most of the time the vegan options are an afterthought - but not here - felt very included. Attentive and passionate staff. The pièce de résistance however was the truffled vegan "cheese" made with almonds...absolutely stunning! And the chocolates salami and delicious coffee for dessert. It's a must for anyone who appreciates amazing ingredients lovingly transformed into deliciousness :)
M. B.
Pasta was fresh and made in house. Texture was nice for me. A bit hard but not too hard. House special a bit spicy and good with red wine. Wine itself not too valuable for 10 pounds per 250ml. Small place and friendly server.
S. M.
For an Italian restaurant, the lack of olive oil is conspicuous. Made the pasta a bit clumpy and the nocella olives less buttery. None the less, the food is delicious!
Was also lacking in salt, but I felt like I'd irritate the owners by asking for it.
C. L.
Great food and atmosphere. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Will definitely recommend this restaurant to my daughter who lives in Manchester, and it will be on my list of places to visit the next time we are here. Fantastico!! 😊❤️
D. G.
We came here in September for our wedding anniversary. When we arrived we realised we were somewhat overdressed for the place, but the staff & food were amazing and we had a wonderful meal. I don't really eat a lot of pasta, but my wife loves it, we both thought the food was incredible. Marta served us and really looked after our needs, again the restaurant is not 'fancy', but Marta gave us 'fancy' treatment. Will visit again!
K. T.
Really tasty hand made pasta, I was really torn over which dish to order. Some unusual starters also. I had a blood orange, black carrot and blueberry soda, which is produced by the Italian company, Galvanina, that is over a century old. My other half had a lovely german style, gluten free Italian beer. We tried the salt cod balls from the specials menu, which were perfectly fried and balanced, and a platter of home made bread, olives and dipping oil/balsamic vinegar. The mains were perfectly cooked and the portion sizes just right. Neither of us could manage dessert! Maybe next time. And the whole thing only came to £48, which was very reasonable. They also sell the pasta to take home. Staff were pleasant and the place was casual. We'll definitely be back.
Edit: we've since been back twice more and tried a few other things including dessert. The place just feels so casual and authentically italian. And no matter what you order from the menu, it's top quality. The specials vary and are innovative. For example, they have a purple sweet potato ravioli with truffle oil that is so wonderful.
G. D.
Brilliant , pre concert dinner , best pasta I've ever eaten . The prawn bruchetta starter was incredible. Buzzing, friendly.. would definitely recommend.
I. Z.
First time in here and definitely planning to come back. All food was delicious but the black pasta and the pistachio panna cotta were tonight's winners. Quick service and very friendly staff.
W. S. M.
We were visiting for a long weekend and this is THE restaurant that will stick in our minds ! Everything was perfect, the staff, the place, the food, the wine, the price ! ;-)
We all had different pasta dish, and we had to try everyone's option because it was so good ! Black ink pasta was surprisingly good ! Gnocchi were fab ! The owner of the place is an absolute legend, so friendly, we will definitely be back there during our next weekend stay over !
A. S.
Outstanding Italian restaurant. It's been the second visit to the Pasta Factory and another great experience. The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. The menu is very interesting, with lots of options also for vegetarians. Overall a great dinner!!
S. W.
Superb food - real, authentic Itallian cuisine and atmosphere...... staff really good too. Very highly recommended!
P. H.
Fantastic food, great atmosphere and friendly and attentive staff. The menu is sparse as its only pasta they serve (hence the name) and the wine list is fairly small (this isn't likely considered an upscale Italian restaurant) but they have a reasonable selection sure to please most people and pair with most pasta dishes.
D. G.
Amazing and authentic pasta! I ordered bucatini allamatriciana (pasta with pork cheek) and my partner got gnocchi zafferano (gnocchi with saffron cream and italian sausage). Both dishes were amazing. Good choice of drinks also. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely revisit. You can also buy ingredients to cook at home.
Place tends to get busy so better to book in advance. Easy to get here and ample parking around.
S. C.
A lesser known delight for freshly made pasta, in a cool cafe environment. We had the bruchetta duo to start, followed by the triangolo di spinichi and mezzi paccheri neri allo scoglio. All three were delightful. The restaurant is bright and airy with an array of curiosities. The staff were friendly and polite. Well worth a visit, and not far from the blander chain restaurants in the city centre.
A.
My new favourite place to eat in Manchester. I never usually have 3 course meals, but because there was a vegan option for each course, I decided to! I had an antipasti platter, ravioli, and a limoncello sorbet. All were delicious and moreish. The staff were very friendly and I liked being able to see the kitchen, too. They sure know how to make you feel welcome here, so I will be back when my wallet allows 😊
r.
Great pasta place. We had pasta with squid inks and pasta with pesto. Excellent taste. Friendly service too.
R. A.
A question I frequently get asked is "Where is your favourite restaurant in Manchester?". An extremely difficult question to answer and one that changes depending on my mood and appetite but I find myself saying The Pasta Factory more often than not. Friendly staff who are passionate about food which is fresh and authentic I was actually here twice last week so I have a fair bit of content to post so without further ado let's discuss the starters.
Beignets stuffed with Italian cheese - Four delicious, savoury beignets stuffed with creamy Italian cheeses that increased in strength up the plate. This was from the specials board and in my opinion deserves a place on the main menu. The cheeses inside each delicate beignet were so creamy and smooth.
Tagliere Vegano - An antipasti platter loaded with an assortment of vegan cheeses, truffle focaccia, scicilian fritters, grapes, kale crips and bruschetta. I was dubious of the vegan cheese but ipn actual fact it was delicious and I wouldn't have know it wasn't dairy. The truffle focaccia was fantastic, perfectly baked with just enough of the truffle flavour amongst the salted top. At a price of £7.50 this was an absolute steal.
Panelle con Salsa Rustica - This dish was three of the scicilian fritters from the platter above. They're made from a chickpea flour and topped with a finely chopped salsa made from fresh tomatoes, spring onions, capers, Ligurian olives, green chillies and fresh herbs. Finally, they were drizzled in a cashew cream. These were 10/10 and probably the best of the starters in my opinion, an extremely good variant of the street food from Palermo.
Tris Di Cicchetti - Three crostini topped with: 1.Palma ham, parmesan shavings and balsamic glaze. 2. Tomatoes, taggiasche olives, garlic and oregano. 3. Roasted aubergines, Garlic herbs and walnuts. I'd highly recommend this if you're in the mood for bruschetta, we were kindly given a 12 year aged balsamic to dip our crostini in .
Fresh pasta cooked on site and cooked as part of a seasonal menu that is curated by chefs with experience and passion.
The pasta here is incredible and you can actually buy it to go, there's is a huge variant of shapes and sizes including ravioli, reginette and tagliatelle.
First up is the Calamarata con Calimari e asparagi - short tubes of black squid ink pasta with sauteed calimari rings and heritage tomatoes on a bed of asparagus sauce finished with lemon zest. This dish looked and smelled spectacular, the squid ink pasta certainly stood out and was al dente. The calmimair was plentiful, well cooked and downright delicious. The tomatoes were so sweet and burst in my mouth, they combined beautifully with the asparagus sauce. Lemon zest gave that slight sharpness you expect when eating calimari and just brought all the flavours together
Second is the Bucanti Al Funghi - Fresh bucatini dressed with a flavoursome mushroom sauce made of porcini, garlic, parsley, white wine & extravirgin olive oil. This vegan pasta was fantastic, I ate this before failing veganuary ( I had the previous dish on my second visit) and it was brilliant. I would've actually had no idea this was vegan as it came in a creamy and rich sauce. The Bucanti pasta was extremely dense and filling, imagine spaghetti but twice as good! This dish was seriously good, if you love mushrooms then you have to try it.
Finally you'll see the Cannoli ala Nutella . I'm not gonna go into detail about this as you can clearly see how sexy it looks in the picture. They are s little price of heaven at the end of unforgettable meal.
R. P.
Really good food in Manchester, be sure to come past a if you like to eat pasta
Ravioli and gnocchi were fantastic along with the home made desserts
I will be back, they pair wines with the meals and offer a fresh selection of beer on tap as well as an Italian cider
M. M. S.
Nice trattoria-style restaurant right off the city centre which makes you feel welcome immediately. Very friendly and helpful service and delicious pasta prepared there, wine and puddings. Perfect coffee. You can also buy fresh pasta and take it to cook at home.
C. C.
Visited here last week & was unsure of what to expect. It's a very no frills place. The pasta was absolutely delicious & you could tell it was freshly made. My cousin who is Coeliac had gluten free pasta made from chick peas which was also lovely. We had a nice bottle of red wine too. It was very busy & lively for a Tuesday night. Would definitely try there again.
S. W.
Awesome place for dinner. Delicious pasta options for vegans. Vegan cheese for starter, great wine selection with cocktail specials. Lovely friendly happy staff. Informal and great vibe.
P. Y.
Fresh tasty pasta. I got the venison ragu, rich but not overly heavy. Had space for not one but 3 desserts after! Staff very nice too.
B. L.
Really enjoyed it here. I had some excellent gnocchi, which considering the cold weather was perfect. It was very good value, the wine was nice and service very good too. Will definitely be returning.
K. A.
A must-visit for Manchester if you appreciate pasta! The menu is carefully chosen, though both me and my family had plenty of choice. Service was very friendly. Food stole the show - so authentic and was cooked to perfection. Drinks menu was authentic too. Great stuff!
M. G.
Best Italian food in the UK, way better than many restaurants in Italy too. It's a paradise for meat eaters and for vegans, highly recommended. Ask the staff for advice and for information about their dishes, let them guide you through an amazing experience with passion and expertise.
P.
I don't leave too many reviews but this gem of a place deserves its credit. Staff fantastic, food amazing, prices very reasonable, even has a small deli counter that sells guanciale. What more could you ask for!? Staff member asked us if we would likely return. That was already decided before we had finished our starters. Can't wait to go back!
M.
Pasta was great, the salmon pasta was amazing! Staff were nice and love the vibe of the resturant. The charcoal/black pasta was interesting worth a try but they need more veggie options (only 3).
H. E.
Delicious freshly prepared pasta, great location - very close to Manchester Victoria. I'm a vegetarian - they had plenty of options for this and vegan too. Their Italian cola was really nice too.
The only downside was waiting for my food and payment at the end - I ended up having to rush off at the end for my nearby train.
R. Z.
Delicious authentic & home made pasta dishes with a great range of boards to start, desserts & wine! Vegan & Vegeterian friendly! Cosy atmosphere & lovely service!
M. Y.
Great food. I ordered a Carbonara Ravioli, and it tasted nice. Service was nice too.
I.
Cozy, nice and well priced. Got a seafood dish could have done with a stronger sauce, tasted good but missed a certain flavour kick to it but would definitely go back for the experience. Service was amazing.
M. A.
My friend and I went to this restaurant for dinner because we found out it was owned and run by the same owners of NOI Quattro which is one our favorite pizza places.
The food was average. I did come in with high expectations and was disappointed. Staff were friendly. Restaurant is small and was busy. The tables were squished together and it was uncomfortable.
Definitely prefer NOI Quattro.
a.
Very warm atmosphere! The staff are very professional.. introducing us to different types of pasta and knows his menu well.
D. B.
the best Italian food I've had in the UK.
authentic and simple dishes all with their own unique twist
P. S.
Really nice food and service. Unfortunately I woke up in the middle of the night with a stomach ache so perhaps one of the ingredients was not fresh - I had seafood pasta. Also, music doesn't help the mood - it's really loud and crazy. The place is quite pricey for a pasta restaurant.
E. A.
6 STARS!!!! Very good pasta, good variety and many options for vegans and vegetarians. The service was top class too, very friendly and helpful.
L. B.
Had the caprese salad and the tomato and nduja pasta! Both were really tasty and very generous portions. Service was also lovely.
E. N.
Really lovely gnocchi. Staff are friendly and easy going, appreciated them popping by from time to time to check in on us. Maybe the menu could do with a more readable font & some pictures.
l. l.
Best pasta in town! Lots of vegan options available. The carbonara di tonno is just special.
R. J. A.
Limited menu, limited wine list but what they have is excellent... Try the squid ink pasta.......
D. B.
Great tasting fresh food, very welcoming and friendly staff, delicious vegan options. Location is easy to get to but is quite pricey (for me at least)
V. M.
Easily one of the best meals I've ever eaten, threw me right back to my holiday in Italy
A. e.
Such an amazing pure Italian hidden gem in Manchester: fantastic staff, actual real fresh made pasta and season ingredients for all tastes and flavors!definitely loved it, a must go back!ps. Thanks so much for having Mokas 😍
R. C.
Superbe Italian food. Slightly expensive but worth every penny. I recommend.
X. Z.
Friendly staff and good food
F. C.
Great fresh pasta! A wide array of wine, beer and Italian cider. It is a quirky and cosy Italian place. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable.
D. S.
Super friendly service, delicious food and not expensive! If you like anti pasti and pasta you need to try this place. Vegan and vegetarian options if need be...
S. C.
Nice storekeeper. Pasta al dente. Very original Italian food. Strong and good coffee.
c. s.
Amazing handmade pasta. Only a small resturant so recommend booking. The food is always amazing but the mains far outshine the starters and desserts. The pean and asparagus gnocchi is pictured and a bit of the truffle parcels. Service can sometimes be slow but it just builds your appetite for the huge mains 😂
N. W.
Best lasagna I’ve ever had. Lovely staff too!
B. S.
Authentic Italian. Quite a small place. Would recommend making a booking.
This place is located in shudehill around the corner of northern quarter. They have a number of options for vegan and vegetarian as well.
The staff is polite- and service is good.
G. H.
Me and my partner got the special starter, the lasagna verde and gnocchi for our mains, and the millefoglie pastry and chocolate salami special for desserts. To say we were blown away is an understatement. The food was absolutely delicious, as well as clean and clear. The flavours were all perfectly balanced and nothing felt 'stodgy' or uncomfortable to eat, as well as being cooked to perfection.
Not only that, the staff were also very friendly and attentive, answering any of our questions and were very speedy in delivering our food and drinks. We felt very welcomed and comfortable for our entire meal.
Essentially, this was the best restaurant experience we've had in Manchester so far. The food, the staff, the atmosphere: all perfect. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is curious about visiting and we will definitely be visiting again.
R. A.
An absolutely amazing restaurant with excellent food and very friendly staff. I was at The Pasta Factory with friends last night and Marco was our main server. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and made some great suggestions for things we should try. Almost all the staff are Italian as well so this place is the real deal. Next time I’m in Manchester, I will definitely be back!
R. H.
The best homemade pasta in Manchester and delicious aperol spritz😍
C. G.
UNBELIEVABLE. The food I ate at The Pasta Factory was simply to die for. The starters were just amazing, the ravioli carbonara was the most delicious food I have ever eaten and the dessert was the perfect conclusion for a perfect meal. Hats off! I couldn't recommend this place enough. The staff were so lovely and the atmosphere was great! I can't wait to go back!
M. B.
Really good italian restaurant in Manchester. Great pasta dishes.
I strongly recommend the arrosticini as an appetiser (lamb skewers). They also have a wonderful selection of italian soft drinks and a couple really good italian beers.
I cannot wait to go back!
R. M.
Superb food together with superb service. A total delight.
E. S.
Ravioli Verdi Di Ricotta Al Pomodoro, green ravioli, is very delicious. The staff is kind and friendly.
H. B.
I had a vegan option not thinking about the fact the sauce wouldn't have egg etc in it. My dish was fine but expensive for pasta with a sauce that didn't have much, if any taste. If you're not vegan then I'd go for the normal dishes as I expect they're tastier. Very expensive for what you get though.
M. T.
Food was great. Lacked a bit of salt and my dish was cold whereas my wife's was steaming hot.
Food was okay, staff are great but I wouldn't say it's similar to my culinary experience across Italy.
M. T.
Definitely a must visit!
Amazing food and lovely staff. Four of us went, mixed dietary requirements (Vegan and Vegetarian) and all very happy. The Gnocchi was amazing, and Marco and Rebecca were great. Will definitely go again next time in Manchester.
A. L.
The pasta was made in house and nice but I wasn't blown away, I was also disappointed with the sea food pasta needed to be de-shelled at the table by the customer, I think its messy and the food is cold by the time you can eat it.
A. R.
Amazing food. Great ambience. Lovely waiter. I think the pictures say more than my words. 🌹🙂
L. C.
The food is here is so good. You can tell it is all fresh and homemade. The atmosphere is humble and friendly. An unpretentious spot on the edge of the city. Plus there are lots of parking options nearby. Would highly recommend.
G. P.
Fantastic place. Nice atmosphere.Great food!
Z. C.
First time eating here and we were very impressed. The pasta is as fresh as you could hope for, service is excellent and all with a smile. We were a table of four celebrating a birthday and they really made us feel welcome. Will certainly be back.
T. S.
Really enjoyed the first visit, but this time the two vegan options were just one note flavour wise and boring. Lasagne just tasted like broccoli and the other dish didn't have much to it as well. Disappointed but only by the high standard set on the first visit.
Vegan parmesan was delicious but not enough to make me want to go back. Big bill for a very unexciting meal
A. S.
The homemade pasta was delicious! The staff were also friendly and helped with differentiating the types of pasta available.
M. P.
Perhaps the best Italian restaurant in Manchester. We had bruschetta, gnocchi with ragù and spaghetti with pesto, absolutely delicious. Good portions nice place.
Rebecca, our waitress was very nice and made sure we were happy. thank you Rebecca
H.
A great place to enjoy a plate of pasta!
As a middle sized man, the portion for pasta is a little small for dinner.
T. H.
My girlfriend and I are regular visitors to Pasta Factory, most recently just over a week ago, but we've also celebrated family birthday meals here too. The pasta is the best I've eaten outside of Italy (and better of plenty of places over there too!), they cater really well for my girlfriend's gluten allergy, the drinks selection is excellent and the service is top notch. Cannot fault it whatsoever.
A. R.
Without doubt the best pasta ragu I have ever tasted. My partner had the monkfish. The sauce was divine. One teensy quibble the first independent pasta restaurant in Manchester was the much missed basta pasta which although excellent was not as good as these guys
M. C.
Friendly staff, scrumptious food, a decent wine list and they have vegan and vegetarian options, what more could you ask for?
L. D.
Amazing food, go here every time I go to Manchester. It’s my favourite restaurant, love the food and the atmosphere. Great service
M. A.
Small and cosy, friendly helpful staff, fantastic food. Will come again.
M. P.
Good food but more choice would give it a higher rating.
B. J.
Me and my partner both ordered from the tasting menu which was excellent value (about £30 each) to get 3 (slightly smaller portion than a regular order) pasta dishes of your choice with a paired wine. So glad we picked this, and have opportunities to taste 3 fantastic dishes each, wine was lovely, and service was was lovely.
V. D. G.
AMAZING FOOD. One of the best restaurants I have been to. Very friendly staff (shout out to Marco). It happily accomodated our group of vegan, fish lover and meat eater.
A. G.
The service, pasta and prices are amazing! I ordered some fresh pasta (check deliveroo/ubereats). They responded to emails promptly and were super helpful on the phone.
They were able to complete a NEW order for me and get it special delivered OUTSIDE of the delivery radius all for TEN POUNDS, within ONE hour on VALENTINE'S DAY and it tasted GREAT! 10/10 will be having again. Thanks!
D. C.
Really great food, traditional Italian pasta. Simple food with very good quality ingredients. Nice beer and wine, and great antipasti. Would recommend! However the staff could have been a bit more attentive and we had to ask for things more than once, and we waited quite a long time for food to arrive, one persons food didn’t arrive until some of us had finished. Which was a shame as it was my birthday meal!
D. H.
The pasta was excellent, but the portions very underwhelming considering the price! For a £13 ravioli I counted a total of 8 ravioli.
J. L.
Excellent vegan dishes, that are so different you get from other Italian restaurants. Wonderful, friendly service from Pierluigi. I'd always recommend Pasta Factory to friends, and we'll hopefully be visiting again soon.
C. M.
Excellent food & drinks with great service. Big shout out to our server Marta, she deserves a special mention. I would highly recommend the pasta factory
u. w.
The best service I have received from a restaurant in the U.K. The food was good too. The servers were very nice and made sure we were happy. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a good dining experience and excellent customer service. Very pleased. Would definitely going here!
R. R.
To await a pleasure is itself a pleasure. In the case of The Pasta Factory the pleasure is double when the await is over!
One of the most lovely places in Manchester UK, perfect location situated in City Centre ,2 minutes walking from Victoria Station.
The Pasta Factory isn’t good only to taste delicious dishes; it’s also a comfortable place where you can hang out quietly with your friends.
They've opened their doors after a long period of lockdown, and we couldn't be happier.
The staff is really kind with customers, is the perfect setting for the culinary masterpieces created by Chef Elisa and her Team.
They do their best for you to have a great experience.
Bravi Ragazzi, Bentornati!
A. S.
Really tasty, simple meal. Lovely wine and soft drink choices! Went for the courgette creamy spaghetti. Pea and mint ravioli looks lovely too! Really authentic feel, and lovely bread selection! Will definitely be back again and can't wait to try Noiquattro(?)!
M. S.
Small and cozy. The staff are Great and do everything to turn Your lunch/dinner in to a fabulous Experience. The menu is short, but You will definitely find something that suits You (omnivorous/vegetarian/vegan). Great wine selection and old-school espresso - the real kind, from a pot.
B. L.
This was my first experience of having vegan food and I was pleasantly surprised. The cheese and crackers for starters was lovely. The pasta dish was very tasty and I will definitely be going again. The service was very good, the dishes were explained to us before we made our choice.
I. A.
Amazing pasta, perfecte texture with a variety of different kinds to choose from. Although my boyfriend and I were full after the main course we couldn't help but try the chocolate ravioli anyway and it was delicious, not like anything I'd had before. The decor is also lovely and the waitress was great, can't wait to come back here again.
G. C.
Really tasty fresh pasta and great staff.
D. W.
Great little place for all things pasta. Had a lovely meal. The chefs clearly are trying to give you something different instead or the boring dishes you'd get elsewhere. Welcoming staff willing to discuss the various options and dish of the day. Nice atmosphere and will visit again.
D.
Amazing meal. Our waitress was great! The best vegan meal I have ever eaten!!!!
D. K.
Brilliant hospitality, great portions, tasty homemade pasta, clean areas and toilets, family and kids friendly, good prices. The definition of a really good restaurant.
n. s.
We came for dinner on a Wednesday and it was lovely to see it so busy! We had the kindest waiter who was so funny and welcoming, everywhere felt really safe and secure and of course the food was amazing! :) Can't wait to come back!
A. C.
Buzzing with life, very busy, great smelling cafe. We had reserved a table through their website for 6 people. Food was amazing, very tasty and fresh. We all had 3 course meal plus wine. Friendly staff, clean toilets. Brilliant place.
Y. M.
Wonderful atmosphere, lovely and warm service, and above all delicious pastas and desserts.
K. L.
Amazing. Me and the family visited here in November for my wife's birthday meal and it did not disappoint. Me and the wife are both Vegan and I am Coeliac, it was absolutely no trouble at all for the staff to recommend the food we could eat and, to top it off, there was still a wealth of choice. The kids loved their choices too which by all accounts is a minor frickin miracle. Will most definitely be back! Cannot recommend the place highly enough!
g. v.
If you like Italian food and wine and your in Manchester you have to go here food and staff excellent
K. B.
Food was exceptional as was the service. We were served by Kaif Asif who was very attentive and took care of us well.
The pasta was amazing. I'm a big Italian food fan and honestly their food was perfect for me and my fiance. We are probably going to return next time we visit Manchester for dinner.
D. S.
Friendly staff, serving good food. I do find the portions a bit small though
E. W.
Delicious array of genuinely Italian dishes made by Italians, with Nonna's traditional gnocchi a winner. Staff go over and above to accommodate, finding us a spot in a full restaurant and going through the options with my vegan friend. He even put something together that wasn't on the menu for me!
A. C.
We had the tasting menu: 3 (half) portions of pasta paired with 3 glasses of wine. It was incredible. Lovely staff and really nice atmosphere.
E. M.
Food was delicious! Our wonderful waiter really looked after us. I would highly recommend.
M. R.
Excellent pasta restaurant in Manchester.
I mean. I am Italian and very demanding on food, and normally not that prone to eating in Italian restaurants around the world. But this is amazing!
Whether you're omnivore like me, or you opted for healthier ways of eating (vegetarian, vegan...) or if you've given up milk or allergic to whatever... you'll find your perfect pasta here.
These Italian folks use fresh and high-quality ingredients for unexpected recipes which will surprise and delight your senses. Really delicious!
J. S.
Really enjoyed the factory! Experimented with wonderful flavours that needed nothing added other than a good glass of red! The chef's have imagination and the knowledge to carry it off... The waiters are friendly, the portions good sized. You won't leave here hungry!
K. C.
What an amazing find in Manchester for coeliacs! I had the most beautiful gnocchi with basil pesto sauce. The manager was amazing as his brother is also a coeliac and he was great with my friend as he was a fellow vegan for her. Next time I am in Manchester I'll be back to try the gluten-free pasta! Highly recommended!
K. S.
Really good food, friendly staff and a nice all round vibe.
V. C.
Absolutely delicious! My husband and I enjoyed a marvellous meal here before seeing Billy Joel at Old Trafford. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the food was beautiful. We particularly enjoyed the pesto pasta with pawns and green beans and the chocolate ravioli with orange cream and pine nuts. Superb! Definitely recommend but try to book if you can or be prepared to wait a little for a table!
k. b.
Unfortunately our mains didn't arrive together, so mine was cold by the time my partners arrived. Pointed it out but got a curt sorry.
E. L.
Lovely little restaurant, although not enough choices for nut allergy sufferers, the portions were small and when one member of the party asked for it to be spicy, there was no added spice and we had to ask again. Some dishes people said were lovely and others said theirs were very mediocre. Service was also very lacking.
Overall a 3/5 visit. May try again but not anytime soon
F. B.
Fantastic food with a modern urban atmosphere and very friendly and accommodating staff. Vegetarian options are varied and plenty of choice. Will be visiting again for sure! Martina our waitress was excellentMy partner and I came here recently and we were little dissappointed as the menu seems to have crept up in price over the last year or so. One example was the daily special of Neapolitan bread which cost £8.
T. H.
This is my easily my favourite Italian restaurant and maybe even my favourite restaurant full stop.
The food here is incredible, so many options for all diets as well. I honestly cannot recommend this place enough, the food is amazing and the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable.
Went again last night for maybe our 5th time and will be coming back soon.
10/10!
J. B.
Great atmosphere great food and wine
C. R.
Visited last night and absolutely loved it. Pasta was delicious, chef's have really done an amazing job.
Service was so friendly, we were served by several people and they all made us smile and feel like we were in italy. Especially Ilaria, she gave us some good recommendations and was very friendly and helpful - I don't like & drink wine but she managed to find me a wine I actually really enjoyed.
Thank you
N. T.
Came here last night with some friends. The food was amazing, I'm vegan and there were loads of options and even vegan parmesan. The chocolate Amaretto cocktail was amazing!! We all really enjoyed it, great service and atmosphere too. Will be recommending.
M.
Excellent service and the food is delicious. Mixture of simple pasta dishes to more experimental starters and mains so should cater to most tastes, plus the small deli has some fantastic produce and hampers, so you can do some Christmas shopping while you eat
R. L. (.
Wonderful restaurant. Not only the best pasta in Manchester but went out of their way to arrange a special delivery for a birthday celebration! Top notch
A.
A great place to eat that's full of Italian charm with friendly staff. Book in advance to avoid disappointment and by advance I mean a few days.
Great options for vegans and vegetarians too. The pasta is cooked perfectly every time and the drinks selection is also great.
J. D.
Don't let the name put you off, this is an amazing independent Italian restaurant with great care and attention taken on both the menu and the ingredients used.
The staff know the dishes inside out and show a great deal of passion for the food.
Once you taste it you can see why, the flavours are fantastic, pasta can easily be dismissed as a standard staple dish, but not here, the squid ink ravioli with salmon, cream cheese and pistachio was amazing, I ended up eating it in tiny bites as I didn't want it to end.
The starters are also a thing of beauty, we had the bruschetta and the cheese and salami platter, all carefully chosen by the Pasta Factory, importing the freshest ingredients straight from Italy.
In short, come, eat, enjoy. Just try to ignore the name.
A. K.
Just had the best traditional Italian meal here, super simple but delicious and the most friendly service ever! All the pasta is made fresh on site and they even have gluten free and vegan stuff too. The nutella banana ice cream was incredible too!
J. D.
The food at The Pasta Factory is divine. huge choice for vegans, friendly helpful staff. I would suggest a name change though as the name does not do the restaurant justice. I think it's probably the best pasta I have tasted. Highly recommended.
W. P.
Potato soup was good, venison pasta was great and the crispy chocolate pastries with cream were fantastic. Don't skip the desert!
The portions were fairly generous and everything was really tasty. The staff were super friendly and attentive.
R. C.
Lovely fresh food, the salmon dish was a little under flavoured but the mushroom four cheese lasagna was rich and gorgeous.
R. G.
Amazingly yummy food - great vegan options!!!
I am not one to choose to go out for italian food (due to lactose intolerant) but this place has converted me! Inventive, delicious dishes with friendly service!
J. B.
I don't want it to be mistaken; I had a great time at The Pasta Factory - I had heard good things and the menu was undeniably diverse with lots of vegan options. To start I had the Tagliere Vegano, a vegan platter, which was amazing - the vegan cheese was really nice and a good portion - a dish anywhere else would have cost an absolute bomb.
For main I had the black bucatini in a black garlic creamy sauce. The sauce was nowhere in sight and felt very necessary. Instead what I received was a dish of stodge that could be picked up whole with one impale of my fork due to it being a congealed mound of potentially reheated, potentially not fresh; pasta. It tasted bland and had to ask for salt and pepper.
Three stars feels fair as the service and vibe was upbeat and pleasant and I'm more than likely to go back and try on a good day and hopefully have a better dish.
D. C.
A very good place, if you love pasta you cannot miss it!! We experienced proper Italian taste in each course that we had. By ordering Taglieri you can also try a fantastic selection of salami, cheese and others typical Italian antipasti. The staff is really welcoming and helpful, great atmosphere. Strongly recommended if you want to eat proper fresh Italian pasta.
J. L.
Fab fresh homemade italian food. Gorgeous pasta and friendly family run restaurant packed with atmosphere.
A. R.
Beautiful intimate restaurant with passionate, knowledgable and very friendly Italian staff. I was recommended the most simple dish on the menu, yet it was delicious and the best tasting pasta dish I had ever tried. Would recommend this place to everyone.
C. A.
Went on a sunday afternoon. Chose a vegan meal.
Meal looked nice but sadly was bland. I did eat most of it and just let them know that I found it a bit bland when the staff asked how it was. Credit to them they offered me a different meal for free to make up for this one but I was already full and didn't want anything so they applied a discount to our bill which was very kind. In all the service was good and they did try to make up for it. Which I appreciated.
I will go another time and give it another try. :)
Gave 3 out 5 because the service and effort afterwards was really good even though this meal was not great for me.
A. A.
Fantastic lasagne and mushroom pasta
P. A.
Superb food, with a good selection of vegetarians & vegan dishes, friendly staff and a homely atmosphere. Slightly dearer than the restaurant chains, but worth every penny for lovingly made traditional Italian food and delightful flavour combinations.
C. R.
Overall a pleasant experience. Nice place, friendly and attentive staff. Had a negroni and an aperol spritz. Good cocktails at reasonable prices. A couple of good and clearly marked vegan options. Had the ravioli funghi, and it was very pleasant tasting. Portion size was a little scant however, and the price was on the higher end. I personally don't intend to come back as a result of the price efficiency, but otherwise very enjoyable. If you don't mind the premium it's an all round good experience.
J. H.
What a refreshing place to eat, so different from what we are normally served up in other places as Italian food. Staff friendly, helpful and the place has a lovely atmosphere. The chocolate ravioli stuffed with figs has to be tried. Wish we had one of these where we live.
T. D.
Wasn't blown away by the food or service. Nothing special. Wouldn't go back.
We had the calmimar and the lamb to start. And the Ragu and the salmon for mains.
Z. F.
One of the best Italian restaurant you can find in England. Their own pasta source deliciously made and nicely served. Team super helpful and cosy environment. The price is high but I didn't mind to pay more for quality service and food.
V. S.
Had a nice experience here since I've been wanting to eat here for so long. We had risotto and squid ink pasta, not common here, which were both fine whereas the bruschetta had a topping which was too chunky and with not a original taste. I believe I will come back.
A. H.
100% the best pasta I've ever had. Super fresh and so tasty! 500/10. Would definitely recommend and in a great location with reasonable prices.
s. k. (.
Small restaurant but very nice. The staff is nice and friendly and you can feel the Italian spirit.. Fabio was very nice and helpful!
The starters and pasta are delicious and the coffee brought to the table was unbeatable..
Ah what many of you call “undercooked pasta” is pasta al dente in Italy, which is how it should be cooked.. bravi ragazzi!
D. V.
I’ve been at pasta factory three times now and every time I have been they have never disappointed. True Italian flavours that make you feel homesick. One of the best Italian restaurants in Manchester. Highly recommend.
C. H.
An Italian restaurant with an informal atmosphere, located in Manchester's Northern Quarter. Great place this. A very popular place though so booking is essential. Had the breads to share and the bucatini all'amatriciana, both were excellent. The prices aren't unreasonable too.
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and will talk you through the menu. Would definitely recommend a visit here.
S. H.
Very good food with great traditional themes and great staff! The only complaint i could give would be that there are a lot of nuts on the menu. A member of my party was put off a good number of choices on the menu. However there was fantastic food regardless.
N. C.
Great little place, good food and great service
J. H.
Couldn't stop to take a picture, we were too busy eating our tasty food! Really great menu, fantastically cooked and the staff make you feel incredibly welcome. Will absolutely be coming back again!
J.
Fabulous food and the staff take great care of you.
S. &. O.
The pasta factory is the best Italian restaurant in Manchester. I'm Italian. This is a trattoria style restaurants which means that is quite rustic. The place is focused on keeping the fresh food tradition which is typical Italian. The menu is not a traditional Italian menu. The chefs which are Italian have played to create a wonderful menu which is different than the common commercial Italian restaurants. And definitely represent our ciusine with the best ingredients like truffle, venison.. But also lots of choices for vegans. The vegetarian options are delicious. If you want to eat good Italian food come here and you will not be disappointed.
I. “.
For 1 hour I felt back home in northern Italy. They do proper italian food in Italian way! One of the best places in the UK to have Italian food that is properly made.
E.
Good choice of vegetarian and vegan options including pudding. Pricey for pasta but it's all homemade and the menu is creative. Had the mushroom ravioli, very flavoursome and the portions are quite big
V. S.
Nice varieties of Pasta, had good vegetarian options. Tried the charcoal pasta for the first time and it's worth it! Flavour of other pastas were very authentic!
D. “. R.
STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!
I really loved this place: cosy, warm, enjoyable and clean; run smoothly by some great guys... and the best pasta I have ever tasted outside of Italy, and even better than many places in Italy itself!
Keep on the good work!!
P. P.
Very good homemade pasta, the service was super friendly. Not many options but I guess that's expected on this type of place. A bit on the expensive side. Overall a very positive experience and will comeback to try it again.
E. i. M.
If freshly made pasta tickles your fancy, Pasta Factory will deliver
On a corner in Northern Quarter, Pasta Factory make their pasta in-house to be used in the restaurant or to be brought to cook yourself. It has an open kitchen which is always a winner and has awesomely chirpy Italian waiters who provide the authentic experience further. It gets busy so it’s probably worth booking beforehand to save yourselves the wait.
We indulged on;
Bruschetta con Feta Marinata (v) [£6.50] - This was topped with a creamy rich feta, of which there was too much for us to handle even though it tasted soooo good. The starter consisted of 2 slices of fresh bread and is perfect for sharing. Being a fan of tomatoes, a few cherry tomatoes could have helped - if you’re a feta fan, you will love this
Ravioli verdi di Ricotta al Pomodoro (v) [£12.50] - It was a green day for us, with green taking centre stage on our mains. This was pure divine with a sweet and tangy tomato base (very Italian). Was a perfectly amazing filling dish mmmmm
Spaghetti verdi con Crema di Zucchine (vg) [£11.50] - This was a yummy option and you’d love it if you’re after the creamier pastas. It was an enticing tower of greeny cream spaghetti that just melts right in your mouth
And to finish it off;
Cannoli alla Nutella (v) [£4] - We love anything Nutella and this didn’t disappoint. It was so light, so chocolatey and so creamy that it was the perfect Italian end to our meal. We would recommend this ten times over
When the craving for pasta kicks in (which is quite often), we’ll be back at the Pasta Factory
Recommendation Rating: High
Price: ££
Service: 9/10
Halal: Vegetarian options
J. P.
We got a meal for 2 to take out and cook at home (sauce to heat up and freshly made pasta to cook). Amazing quality and only £11. Absolute bargain. Top quality standard
K. K.
Been a few times service is excellent never feel rushed but very well looked after.. food is great with generous portions had 3 courses the desert special was amazing... and the house beer very good .. went home very full and very happy.. cant wait to go again ..
S. S. F.
Staff and service were good but food was disappointing and overpriced. The ravioli portion was very small and costed 14.50pounds,pasta was too hard (too much al dente) and the sauces were OK for what we paid. Not coming back
S. L.
I have been here twice and each something different but just as tasty and enjoyable. The fresh pasta is gorgeous plus you can take some home and claim you made it yourself. Service is impeccable x
S.
Excellent in every way; food, drinks and service. Not your usual Italian, with unique Italian dishes. This is now on my favourite list of places to go regularly.
R. A.
I love this restaurant, I have eaten here a few times and is always packed so suggest you make a reservation. I have heard this place being quoted as "the most authentic Italian restaurant in the UK". Small menu but less things done very well and loads of things not done well.
J. F.
Excellent pasta quality wine and good service.
G. T.
Great little place, all homemade pasta. Lots of veg/vegan options. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good wine. Can't wait to go back!
E. C.
Lovely meal! Portion of pasta was bigger than expected but very tasty. Staff were very friendly! Looking forward to the next visit!
P. S.
Great food and service. Nice to see an independent doing well. Unpretentious but a creative menu with good vegetarian, vegan and meat based dishes too.
R. M.
Fantastic experience! The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly and educated us on where each of the dishes we ordered originated from. I would love to go back!
m.
great service, delish food, vegan friendly! would recommend! reserve that table; it's rightfully very popular and you're gonna have to book in :)
J. N.
This is one the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. The pasta is wonderfully fresh, the staff considerate, knowledgeable, and funny. A table of five, with five separate mains and desserts, and everything was exceptional.
S. L.
Really expensive! £11 for a glass of wine! A choice between chardonnay or something similar to chardonnay which costs the earth, not great if you don't like chardonnay!!! I've been waiting 35 mins for my main. Wouldnt come back or recommend. Ravioli was really chewy too! How is that even possible?! On the plus side the staff are nice and the venue isn't bad.
f. a.
Lovely italian restaurant! Hight quality food and italian traditional recipes! You really feel home with a kindly staff and a wonderfull place. Absolutely raccomended!!
Enjoy their special fresh pasta and moka cofee! Buon appetito
J. L.
You should go here!
Truly excellent, authentic Italian food. Friendly and welcoming staff. A hidden gem in the city centre. In the top 20 Manchester restaurants in the Good Food Guide too! You will not be disappointed.
A. L.
Lovely pasta made with care. Personal and friendly service.
To the owner: The front door area was draughty, and on a cold day it wasn't pleasant for us diners.
D. R. S.
Excellent pasta, with excellent service!!
H. C.
The most amazing pasta in a chilled environment. Welcoming and knowledgeable staff that really care about the food and overall experience you have there. Highly recommend trying this place.
M. S.
Delicious food and great service! Very authentic. Thank you for a lovely meal Pasta Factory! Will be visiting again.
S. C.
Pasta is a dirty word in the UK. It’s the food of choice for people who hate good food. You could be forgiven for assuming that the carelessly titled The Pasta Factory serves up the ubiquitous sloppy bowls of spag to slags and wags, but your assumption would be wrong.
The Pasta Factory is a small, cosy, independent, authentic, Italian-run restaurant that takes its name not for the volume or generic nature of their products but for the fact that they make virtually *everything* themselves.
The menu is reassuringly small. Only an insecure chef feel compelled to hand over half a dozen pages of food to choose from. Every dish at The Pasta Factory counts. There are few recognisable classics but plenty of classic ingredients and flavours. No wacky experiments served on a slate tile here.
Every main course here is pasta. There are no pizzas; if you want cheese on toast for dinner, go to Pizza Depress.
A very wide variety of pasta is made on site... all different shapes, colours, flavours and fillings.
My dining partner was vegan and her dining preferences weren’t catered for merely as a begrudging bastardisation of other dishes but as enthusiastic cooking in its own right... even the vegan wine was pointed out to us. Vegetarians and omnivores (like myself) were equally well catered for, and neither of us felt deprived of anything or ripped off, which is often the case with vegan food (we’re looking at you, Eighth Day).
There was a large range of soft drinks, none of which involved anything from the Coca Cola or Pepsi companies. There was a raw fair trade Italian cola on the menu along with the other intelligently thought through choices.
I ordered the the black squid ink ravioli with salmon. It was astonishingly good; the best pasta I have eaten in the UK. I’m reluctant to write this, as it sounds so implausible, but even the black pepper was the most aromatic I’ve ever had on Italian food. It roared through my airways with the most wonderful warming vapour. The salmon was firm, moist, intensely flavoured and used generously. At £13.50 it was very fair for the amount of work that went into it. Not a single ruptured ravioli in sight.
Pasta is usually such a dull asinine “all things to everyone” bland dish. How can people say their favourite food is “pasta”? Surely there should be so many different varieties that you can’t talk about it as a single preference? The Pasta Factory is a rare example of how far the flavour of pasta can go.
For pudding I took the chocolate salami with scoops of vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce on top (£5). The chocolate salami was superb... a sort of lumpy mixture of cake, biscuit, chocolate and fudge, pressed together. Rich and as far from Cadbury’s as chocolate gets. The chocolate sauce was very good but there wasn’t much of it.
The “ice cream” was disappointing. It was frozen but very heavily crystallised with ice as if it was water rather than milk based. It could have been vegan perhaps, but that vegan Swedish Glacé is superior. It wasn’t terrible but perhaps a few drops of glycerine would stop the crystals forming and some vanilla bean extract would give it some much needed flavour. That wasn’t nearly enough to derail an outstanding 5* meal though.
It was busy but they just about managed to accommodate us on a Sunday without a reservation. I would suggest booking if you can though. Service was friendly and reasonably quick considering the extent to which things are made to order. There’s no glamorous champagne bar or Rolls Royces parked outside, but the celeb-haunt Italian chains in Manchester are miles behind The Pasta Factory when it comes to the food.
This is a true hidden gem of Manchester’s restaurant scene. Can’t wait to return.
D. A.
Wonderful experience.
Tasting and various starters presented on a gorgeous sharing board they call "talliere" or "tagliere", homemade fresh pasta with real sauces and not the meatballs, or market sauces you can find anywhere else and good italian wines.
Next time I'm gonna go for pudding as well!
T. B.
Great if you're vegan, but I found the starter very mixed with some things being burnt or poorly conceived. My pasta was underseasoned and on the dry/firm side. The staff were rather casual which lead to a relaxed but slow pace. Also the music is pretty random with even some heavy metal interspersed.
K. E.
The best value restaurant in the city. A small menu but everything is done exceptionally, plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, super friendly staff, can not recommend this place enough.
I. G.
Delicious vegan dishes! A bit disappointed at the size of the portions (at least relative to the price..) but still impressed with the taste. Nice, cosy atmosphere.
A. S.
Very good food at a good price based on the quantities (we couldn’t even move of how full we were) and have to say: excellent service!! Will definitely go again!
A. R.
Genuinely the best pasta I have ever had, absolutely amazing food and fantastic service, servers are so polite and very helpful. My new favourite restaurant in Manchester, will be coming back here no doubt
A. S.
Very nice Italian restaurant. They have several vegan options (even for dessert), the staff is very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is also nice.
I will come back, for sure!!
P. W.
Some of the best pasta I've ever had in Manchester, a little slice of Italy in the NQ. Beer and wine selection was also pretty good, and the service friendly and efficient. Reccomended
A. M.
Lovely pasta dishes using their own hand made pasta, well worth a visit.
R. J.
Excellent. Had 3 courses and loved all of them. Main was the black pasta with mussels. A full blast of the sea. This was my first time here but will be going again and again.
B. F.
I've had mixed experiences at this restaurant in regards to how good the food was (taste + options on menu). I've had some good ones, and some other just ok, so giving 4* for irregularity. Will visit this place again.
D. B.
We love that place, because it loves you back :))
Giulia and her team make pasta with passion and great ideas for sauces. We're going there always when we're in Manchester.
E. T.
Amazing pasta, Angelo helped us incredibly as my partner had a nut allergy. Highly recommended!!
J. R.
Food is excellent but a bit pricey if you want to get "stuffed" as portions are a bit on the smaller side for mains. Lots of flavours though so in that sense great
A. S.
Beautiful tasting food, excellent service and speedy too as on lunch hour break. Can't fault it excluding price a bit more than wanted for starter and main no alcohol £22.
P. D.
Home made pasta, good wines, vegan, vegetarian and meat options, good service, very nice environment, good coffee and deserts, a stone's throw from the Northern Quarter and its bars. What's there not to like?!
M. H.
Lovely food very friendly and helpful staff highly recommend. a gem
F. P.
I loved the pasta here, I had the one with clams and It tasted exactly as the one I have in Italy.
I also wanna say that the portions are big ( unlike what i read in the other reviews)
R. G.
The service was excellent, delivered with a smile and a flourish. The food was better still!
I'd strongly recommend this as a place to take a romantic date!
L. S.
Been meaning to try for ages and wasn't disappointed - great atmosphere, traditional and authentic setting. Starter with meats, cheese and bread etc was gorgeous, will go again yum
y. h.
One of the Italian restaurants I've ever tried. The pasta is too delicious and the staff is friendly. Loved it.
B. N.
