Reviews of TOPS Buffet Restaurant Manchester
Place is nice and massive, different varieties of food and lots of dessert choices. But in my personal opinion, food is not the tastiest. I ordered a coke and it tasted really weird in flavour... I didn't try the meat cooked at the moment though, as there were massive queues for it, which is a good sign. Good atmosphere and nice, kind & hardworking staff making sure the place runs smoothly.
Best buffet I have ever been to.
Very wide selection of food. Over 50 different dishes.
Chinese, Indian, pizza plus much more. Incredible sweet selection chocolate fountain.
On portman street In manchester you will find Tops an eat all you can Buffet restaurant - price 19.50 per person great value for money. when the restaurant is busy you get given an hour & half slot but have to say are Christmas party was not kicked out the door we all had a great time . Staff were very helpful and welcoming. They had a good choice of food, Drinks order is taken at your table . The place seemed clean from what we see. I have been to this restaurant a few times before and would recommend it. You can book ahead or just walk in.
I started at 6.06pm and first of all you need to pay before entering the dining hall.
The staff are respectful. Also you need to pay for drinks separately. By that time of the day, it was not crowded. It however fills up really quick. The turnover is high anyway so as more customers come in some leave.
The dishes are varieties and so options are plentiful. For me the dishes were nice and nicely warm-to-hot.
I definitely will be back. I love this place.
Loved been back here. Very safe and comfortable following covid regulations.
Staff were helpful. The food was lovely
For an eatery with your family and friends, look no further than TOPS. Really on top of your game, keep it up.
Would be glad if something could be done about the long waiting hours.
Read the edit as well pls!
The interior of the restaurant is very nice! But I had a very weird experience in this restaurant. You have to pay before you are seated for the food, for the drinks you pay separately at the table. We went for lunch for my husband’s birthday, they had Chinese and Indian food but they were not clearly separated, like you won’t know what’s Indian or Chinese food as I don’t really like Indian food. Then the food: all kind of fried chicken were so greasy/oily and hard!!! Not nice at all!
The fried rice and mains were not bad to be honest. Also it was a shame they didn’t have sushi’s during lunch time! Then the Indian waiters and waitress were very friendly. Not enough options for dessert! Name boards were placed wrong next to dishes…,
For a restaurant with such an interior you would expect more! Really disappointed
EDIT!!!
the evening food was much better. I went another day as there were not much Chinese buffet open due COVID. But this time the food was actually much better than the lunch buffet. Things were not fried Romeo times or something you know what I mean, it was not greasy and oily this time. More dessert options and the name boards were placed right! A total different experience!
Went with the family to Tops on a Sunday afternoon. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. It was very busy and the atmosphere inside was brilliant. They actually have a Robot bring out the plates witch we all found amusing 😂 There is so many different choices of foods and deserts. I really enjoyed the steak and prawns from the cooking stations (delicious) The staff are very polite and can't do enough for you. Well worth the money and I'm looking forward to when I go again.
Keep up the good work 🎊🍜🍝🥙🍕🍗🥩🍰🍩🍻🍷
Great food, loved the robots.
Shame the waiter who brought us drinks would not bring a glass of water for one of our party.
Went for the lunch buffet, £12.50, some dishes better than others, some dishes taste the same, some were dry, some dishes were tasty – nothing was bad. One star off as I wasn't too impressed with the deserts, however a reminder – £12.50 so can't complain to much. Staff were nice, plates cleared regularly, £3.25 for a pint of coke, so left feeling happy and full for under £20!
Really tasty food! Very busy, but plenty of space at the table. Staff a bit too quick to remove plates and glasses when they're not completely finished with and bathroom floors need the stickiness removing. The food made up for everything though, really good.
No queues for the first time that I went there. Had a table booked anyways for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The food was lovely. Lots of varieties to satisfied all ages. Will definitely be going there to try the dinner as it's supposed to have even more varieties.
Went here for lunch today. The food quality is what you'd expect from an All You Can Eat buffet. The sushi wasn't replaced very often. The website says it closes at 4pm, but everyone was kicked out by security at 3.45pm, so didn't get to finish my ice cream. Apart from that the staff were friendly and the decor was nice.
Delicious buffet, waiting time in que was about 15-20 mins. The manager was also very friendly. There is also a huge halal variety (labelled halal on the side).
Good buffet fayre. Serving up the usuals that you would get at your local takeaways. Indian and Chinese cuisine along with pizza. Its worth what you pay for, there is more selection in the evening with live cooking stations. Bear in mind it is pay before you eat which throws some people off. Then you can pay for drinks at the table.
The environment was very neat and tidy with friendly staff who are ready to help. Plates were promptly taken away in between meals. The food was hot and there a lot to choose from.
Variable pricing according to age for kids did make a lot of sense.
The food is so amazing and there is lots of variation
A great place for family and friends to gather for a birthday or any celebration where different tastes require a vast menu to ensure all guests enjoy their meal. Freshly cooked food from all over the world and a refreshing bar and delicious desserts. Book in advance to beat the massive queues that line the streets at every service, tables from 2 to 20+ guests.
Did not start well, man on the door was very rude, needs to remember you are supposed to welcome people, not treat them like kids and demand they line up against the wall repeating it. Felt he was one step away from pushing people!! Cannot fault them following government guidelines, mask, hand gel and one way system inside. Chicken was bit dry and beef chewy, but noodles and mushrooms were really nice, good mixture, but sweets not much choice. Staff hover too much making it feel rushed and not very relaxed! I personally would not go back, but it could have been due to restrictions currently in place so could be doing them an injustice. If you like a buffet then would say try for yourself.
Where do i start? I had an amazing time and it is worth every penny. Freshly made steak and squid and gyoza. Omg delicious, you can request it to be cooked to your wishes. Frozen strawberry daiquiri is good. Staff is superbly nice and friendly. Lost my wallet and the staff returned it to me. Non biased opinion of course. I try to bring my friends here whenever I can afford it or have some budget. It is a little pricey for me as a student but like I said, it is superbly worth it.
Massive variety of food, all tastes great, visited twice now, staff are friendly
Tops is one of the best buffet restaurants we have visited recently. The only issue is that you have to keep on paying as you order the drinks everytime rather than settling the bill at the end which is a bit annoying when you are out with the family and everyone wants to pay.
We went in late so only had 30 minutes before they started taking the food away and requesting us to leave so couldn't get a complete experience. But will be going there again and will review again.
I went with a large group of hungry colleagues to the Manchester restaurant. There was plenty of staff to clear tables who had nice manners. There was many choices of foods, Chinese, Indian etc. Some of the meats were chewy and dry, I am thinking most of the foods are processed and frozen then microwaved before we eat it. I have been suffering with heartburn for 24 hours. Why don't Tops cook from fresh and have more choices of at dinner time. I am willing to pay more for quality rather than quantity.
Although the number of choices has gone down since the Coronavirus Pandemic, there is still a fairly high number of good food options to enjoy. There is Western cuisine, Asian cuisine, a very basic Sushi section, Soup, Crepes / Pancakes freshly made, a Grill section with freshly cooked steak, gyoja dumplings, and a few other goodies, plus a dessert section (although on my visit, there were hundreds of Mint ice cream tubs next to two small tubs of melted other flavours). The staff are OK, & the prices are quite high (£18.95pp for a Mon to Thursday Dinner at early May 2022) - Lunches are cheaper, with a graduated price for Kids (e.g. 0-3 : FREE, a 5 Year old being £7.50 for Dinner). Please note NO drinks are included - someone may approach your table for drinks orders - which you have to pay separately for.
Good selection of dishes. Despite other reviews, everything seemed properly cooked! Good to sample different foods without ordering a full meals worth. Loads of desserts. Likely to be back.
Good selection of dishes, have a good few halal options.
Staff have little understanding of what's halal and not though. Toilets were absolutely filthy for the whole duration we were there.
This place is very nice but they should have more fruit options and more food options the price it's all right I cant complain.
Food was great and good atmosphere too. We were asked to leave in 1 and half hours though. Bits it's a great place
If you want to go here for a birthday surprise with a cake and the lot. DON'T!!!! it was my birthday and I had no idea that my family had got an amazing cake made for me. UNTILL the guy kept going back and forth with my birthday cake and the music didn't even get played. My cake go brought out still in its packaging and apparently it was 45 mins late Comming out.
And on top of all that I didn't get the happy birthday song sang to me. Lool they was asking me who's birthday it was for god sake. And tried to sing it to my auntie.
What a joke not bothering Comming here again. I didn't have a good time or experience
I loved that they had varieties of food and dessert there. It was all delicious and very tasty.
Had a lovely meal out with friends tonight. We were seated quickly (even with it being a busy Saturday) the food was lovely as always! However, the highlight of the meal was the lovely Filippe (really hope I spelt that correctly) who was so pleasant to talk to! Highly recommended Tops 😁🤩
Nice enough food, good selection however not much turn around on certain dishes that dried out.
Been here twice. The staff was friendly. There are variety of food options from Japanese to Indian food. Taste wise isn't bad at all although there's nothing special about it. Pricewise, it's considered inexpensive
The food is sooo delicious, there are many options for all people. I like the atmosphere and how they serve the dishes.
The staff are friendly and helpful and the restaurant in general is clean🌷
And it's Halal 💕💕
Yes, I do recommend it 👍👍
For the price, absolutely fantastic, food was hot, tasty and plentiful. My only niggle was no proper puddings (jam Roly poly, syrup sponge etc) pancakes made to order, absolutely loved it. Definitely worth a visit, and I do give Tops a 5 * rating
Great to see them open for business like they used to, seen some new things on the menu but a lot of others were missing, quite pricey for the afternoon entry but it is an all you can eat at the end of the day 🙂👍🏻
We really enjoyed our visit and the food was very tasty exspecially the prawns and steak made by the chef. The waiters were great with our kids and the service was great and fast! We will be back for sure soon.
Came here for a works do. £18.50 for all you can eat in 90 minutes. There is all the typical Chinese and Indian cuisine plus Italian and much more. They even have deserts and fruit. Good value and the staff were great and we'll organised.
Excellent food! Nice people! Due to Covid-19 staff are taking the food on the buffet. We are not allowed to take for ourselves. So you choose the food from a menu (until 5 types of dishes each time) and they bring it for you.
Different selections between thai and indian food , all you can eat , the good point is for kids there is available nuggets, fries, pizza , many halal meat and chicken, the desserts are limited and some are cooked with alcohol, the drinks are not included in the price
Good place to take the family for food, as it has lots to choose from and every the fussy eaters will find something to eat here
Never been to an international buffet before. Huge range of food from around the globe which was ok. All you can eat buffet so quality was ok. Will definitely return!
Enjoyed the food, but a bit pricey, im a pensioner and don't eat much
Good for groups with friendly staff, clean and tidy place. I like it. There are Chinese, Tai, Indian, sea foods and pork, lamb and beef grills and types of salad. In addition, It has many dessert options like fruits, cakes, jelly, chocolate, etc. All of foods are £15 per person. There are also a bar for drinks (soft drink, alcohol, cocktails, etc) that cost separately
We had some higher expectation of the place based on the website and marketing,
Food: some average some bad, some quite nice
The cutlery were cheap, and they felt as such, however somehow I can't blame them.
Ambient/location was quite nice to luxurious which shows the potential of the place, excluding the table signs which we had to hide as they were miserable... management please.
Overall it was a fairly nice experience, and we'd loce to see some higher quality next time even if that means raising the price, as this has Huge potential.
Absolutely loved this restaurant! Always fancied trying an all-you-can-eat restaurant and finally made it. My partner and I are both vegetarian and checked out the menu beforehand and there looked to be a great choice. This was the case, however we had hoped there would be a veggie curry and there wasn’t one on the night we were there. We mentioned it to a member of staff Ravi (I think he may have been the manager) and without hesitation off he went to the kitchen and arranged for the chef to personally make us a special dish of curry to share. Over and above what we would have ever expected, thank you! All the food was of an amazing quality and very fresh, tasty and piping hot. There was still lots we didn’t have room to try, so can’t wait to return!
Very good value and extremely wide choice of quality food. Despite signs everywhere asking people not to waste food there were far too many people piling their plates to the ceiling!
Amazing service and food was excellent staff are more than pleasant
Visited based on a video review on you tube. Glad we did. A great choice of fresh food and very well priced. We will be back .
Lovely food, lots of choice, would recommend booking to avoid waiting to get a table.
We went to tops before we went to the Palace theatre only round the corner 3 min walk
Not bad. Dim sum area was hardly dim sum.custard buns were great and so was the red bean buns hope they never get rid of them. Thai spicy rice was hot and spicy well nice.
Very good value for money and excellent food. Great for a party of people as so much variety. Recommended.
The price of food was great the standard of cooking was fantastic and the service from the staff not much conversation but was on the ball cleared the place ready for you to go and get the next plate of food if you wanted more
Went here 2 days in a row because me and my girlfriend weren't sure what else to have, nice staff and food was great
very nice customer service, tasty food
Nice food, drink service isn't great seem to get ignored.
Need some better systems in place, potential to be great.
Affordable, provided a good selection of international cuisines (mostly Asian) and desserts
Good generally tasted good, was kept warm and refilled fast
Ambient was good and the staff did not rush us to leave
The food was delicious and staff polite and friendly ...i highly recomended this restaurand according to the taste and price
I highly recommend this place. The price us amazing and so much to choose from. Staff are great too.
Amazing place, many varieties of food on offer, nice decor, very friendly staff
Not the first time and certainly will not be the last, all you can eat food and dessert international cuisines .
Very nice place i must say, staff are attentive, food was very nice, i wasnt too keen on the meat used on the indian dishes as they just tasted pretty meaty, like there was no taste on them just a meat taste, this is the reason i dropped it by one star, the selection is huge, the place is halal, but some dishes such as pork are not, very good price £15 a head or £13 with student discount, only thing i found weird was that when you order drinks they wait at your table to take payment for them, never had that before haha, but i guess its a new experience
Fantastic restaurant all you can eat set price drinks extra but a great selection of food well worth the money and good atmosphere and good for families.
Great place, plenty to choose from all very tasty, definitely worth the money. X
Amazing choices for starters and main👌 but I would have preferred more dessert options.
Awesome experience..... the live food preparation corner is their unique selling point. The fact that you get to see your meal prepared from scratch right in front of your eyes by professional chefs was a wonderful experience.
I suggest that there should be more ice cream flavours in addition to just vanilla and chocolate. My baby could not take I've cream because there was no strawberry flavour.
Excellent range of food. Good service. Pizza cook can be a little fussy and awkward. Cost is very high compared with other restaurants.
Nice food, not every time the best quality but still I believe this is one of the best all you can eat buffets in Manchester
Long gap since my last visit.
Prices up a bit, but quality and service top notch, as before. Drinks reasonable.
Not quite full steam ahead, with some sections not fully operational, and some seating available, but apparently not in use.
I still recommend it as probably the best buffet in Manchester, and hopefully once Covid abates full operation will resume.
Given the fixed price, worth a trial.
This place is nice but a bit mutch! We tried to have a look at everything but despite the enormous amount of food there is in here, there were alot of food i was missing. I was looking forward to eating sushi, but i found only one kind of vegetarian sushi. And also i was hoping for dumplings of some kind. The italian part was also a bit short, basically only pizza. Although despite that, the food that they had was fresh and good. A big plus for the duck panncakes!! I have never seen them on a buffet before! LOve it! They had alot of dessert but i would have liket more fresh fruit. But the crepes was a really good idea to have and the chocolate fountain is very cool. I was missing a bit of fruit by the fountain but it was ok anyway. All in all a really nice expexperience. The place is huge! So everyo e can find something they like and you will not leave this place hungry ^^,
Genuinely lovely food... only issue i had was with the big prawns they hadn't removed the dirt track before cooking. However lovely staff and drinks servers and a lovely environment to eat in
Nice buffy. We went a saturday night in December, very busy not a relaxing atmosphere. Found it very rush as they put maximum 1 hour 30 on the table to be out and we came for someones birthday. If your looking for a good curry or Indian starters dont come here its mainly Chineese or pizza. Some people tried the roast dinner it was cold. My sons corn on cob was stone cold. Chinese food was nice.
Great place brilliant food but insane busy at the weekend
Very Nice food, nice place to eat with family and friends.
Staff are friendly.
Nothing like it trust me in the whole of the United Kingdom, well arrange and packaged, fantastic staff. Top notch service and food ...❤️❤️❤️
Tops never fails to impress.
Good hot food and spaced seating.
I would recommend booking as the walk in queue can be huge
Come and experience the place yourself, I wish to have a spare stomach for extra food intake. Oooo my days, everything was superb 👌 👏 🙌. I salute all the waiters and the servers. Keep it up
Foods high quality and the prices are reasonable too no complaints, good all you can eat.
Love this place! Very friendly staff, fresh food and clean place! Also cheap 😊 highly recommended!!!!
Wow........what a place...........the food choices are unbelievable and absolutely delicious, fantastic service........well worth a visit, you will NOT be disappointed.
Good selection of food Chinese very good but Indian not so good. You have to watch out for the plate carrier.
It was a friday evening, place was full and even without reservation we received a nice table. Food was great as well.
Amazing food and the restaurant is lovely. The kids loved the robots.
Good food. We had a nice welcoming.
Polite staff.
Good selection of food. Not many vegan options :(
Awesome, one of the best buffet experience I have had , warm amazing staff
The food buffé was great, you could tell it wasn't day old stuff. The atmosphere was fine and the varity was huge...
I think it’s the best place where I’ve gone 😂👌🏻
For 20 quid a head you get what you expect
Fresh food always on the go
Food was alright, not the best all you can eat buffet in Manchester but alright. The surfaces were kept clean and all the dishes were regularly stocked up with a good choice. Seating is very packed in but an alright lunch all the same.
Fantastic food... 100% will be back .. buffet with alot of dishes ..
Decent, but not worth the price.
Most buffet restaurants charge anywhere between £10 and £15. TOP'S price of £17.50, unfortunately isn't justified.
Most of the dishes are nice, not great but fun to gorge on, but the restaurant offers very little for vegetarian customers, which made the meal quite dull for my partner.
However, if you're a meat eater, have some spare pennies and want to annihilate mountains of crispy chilli beef, stop on by.
Every single time u go there you find out different dishes best days on weekends but its busy as well at the same time just try booking earlier
Nice buffet food but not enough seafood for my liking and more vegetable choices would be welcome. There is a bit too much food cooked in breadcrumbs and batter for my taste but overall its great value for money. The choice is mainly Asian & Indian foods. Its well presented and its all very tasty and the staff are friendly and efficient. You cant complain in all honesty £12:80 per adult. They may have different prices for children or families not too sure. The dining area is comfortable and subdued lighting makes it more inviting I feel.
It was an OK experience food was hot but I think we book our table to late in the evening as the selection quickly dwindled with the food and desserts but other than that the staff were friendly and helpful so all in all no complaints. I would return and maybe at an earlier time 👍.
If you have never been before I would recommend that you book your table and also at an earlier time 👍
Great service
Abit on the expensive side, but what you would expect in a large city centre, with plenty of variety and good quality!
Food was really nice and a good selection to choose from
Great food. An amazing selection. Good service.
Excellent great verity of foods. Pretty sure there's something for everybody
Pretty great, a wide selection of food and of everything I tried, I enjoyed it all
Absolutely delicious. So much variety. Only recommendation would be to bring a pillow because being this full is very sleepy work!
Saturday afternoon 1 hr waiting in no booking queue. Chilli Garlic squid rings and deep fried battered prawns was my favourites. Lamb balti beef in black beans sauce nice.
The variety of food is quite big and the price for single person is not that big. There were a big selection of deserts but they were a disapointment.
Food pretty average, Should be open during lunch hours as well as evenings concidered its capacity. Disappointing
Went in about 21.15, late yes, but didn't expect to pay £37.00 for the two of us and then £3.00 each for a drink. Very expensive for that time of night even though they said that they were not making anymore food for the buffet. They did have a good selection of food and the layout was good. Would I go back again, yes, but hopefully when it's a bit cheaper.
Spacious place with lots of seats
Various cuisines available not just chinese
Wonderful food quality
Excellent prices
Lovely desserts and ice cream
Halal place (except for the pork obviously)
Well presented, food nice, service good, food not fantastic but good for what you pay
Woww what can I say. Great selection of food, all cooked very well. Good value for money. Good drinks selection too. Will be returning!
I've witnessed a Tops Buffet Restaurant in Manchester is true 👍, they deserve to be tops all
Not a lot of options for Vegans.
When I asked for Tofu they looked at me like I was stupid.
All you can eat for £18.99 for adults or £19.99... ice-cream and all you can really eat
Food was amazing here definitely recommend this place came all the way from London I would definitely come back here again prices good Price is good good choices for food and Deco is on point most important me food is halal
Plenty of choice....long queue though where they cook dishes of your choice. Deserts pretty average. Staff quite friendly and didn't wait long for our table. We went in the evening so we can have freshly cooked dishes as well as buffet.
I almost died trying to eat 9 plates, managed 8 though, nice food and excellent beer
Beautiful atmosphere, lovely food, parking a nightmare
Dined here for the first time today. Our regular place was closed and our 2nd choice had closed down when we saw a queue forming outside Tops, saw a sign for buffet and decided to join it. We asked someone what kind of food and they said a bit of everything.
Oh my world it does more than a bit of everything. Theres is chinese indian deserts pizza chips. You pay as you go in then are shown to your table. Theres pots and pots of different dishes. The lamb Balti meat was perfectly tender. Deserts were fresh. Definitely going again, almost glad our regular place was closed.
Great restaurant catering for many food tastes.
Food is nice, service was ok could do with being a bit quicker on removing finished plates, good selection of food, overall I'd go again 👍
Great food, great atmosphere, staff friendly. Good value for money. Definitely go again.
Great for family meals, good value for money but long wait times if you don't book so booking is recommended.
Excellent food well organised buffet restaurant
Good variety of food, value for money, go early to avoid disappointment of waiting. Don't over fill the plates as there is a lot to try.
I didnt know what to expect after I saw such a controversial reviews. ...
Staff was alright, friendly and carefull, active.
Food was really good but too salty, so I only could do 2 plates of salty and 3 of fruits and desserts. So far the BEST spring rolls I have ever had, hush browns delicious as well, amazing samosa, well cooked rice, good sauces. I don't eat meat so can't say about that.
Amazing food as always . Always lots of food to choose from and good quality.
It's mainly Indian and Chinese buffet, dishes with chicken and fish were nice and delicious, with few spicy dishes. juices not included, desserts were less than expected, pizza was too oily with low quality cheese. £17 per head.
Been a few times and I've never been disappointed, the food was excellent and the staff were very friendly, worth every penny, would highly recommend it
Actually really enjoyed it the Chinese was amazing!! Staff was very friendly a lovely Chinese man talking to my little girl and came and said bye to us as we was leaving.. Good choice in food.. Not much desserts but I am not bothered because I don't eat desert... The curries looked amazing.. My partner said they was really good never got round to tasting it tthough because I filled myself up. I was a bit sceptical to try with mixed reviews but so glad I did it was well good defo be going there again
The food is good for a buffet. Hardly any veggie options and quite hard to get drinks service as its so busy. Also, people were leaving dirty plates next to clean ones and no one was around cleaning up.
Went for my birthday and they had a huge selection even for the lunchtime serving. Good quality food and when one of the dishes had gotten a bit cold and hardly has any left I asked if they could bring a fresh one and they did with no issues. Attentive staff and reasonable prices.
Love love it. We travel 1 hour to visit Tops and it never disappoints
Food was really nice and a good variety. At first I thought £15 for buffet was a little much, but afterwards I would say its well worth it.
The location is also perfect as its walking distance from some bars to go onto next. I will definitely revisit this place when I'm next in Manchester!
Plenty of food to choose from, decent quality and good price. Great for a no fuss group meal
Very busy restaurant. The food is good but service was slow.
Great experience with above average food quality. You get a 25% off Q parking. Worth a shot.
Well frist time comimg with partner as staying in manchester and very avarage i have to say
We had some postives and negatives
We tried to book online and for some reason it wouldnt allow us and wasnt sure if we did book but thats fine we walked instead
Girl on desk checked us in but we had to prepay before coming in which wasnt an issue however she never explained anything to us as we havent been before
The man at the entrace was nice and used manners and asked for one of the lady waitress sat us down never said enjoy
We got our drinks my frist coke was very flat which we had to send back
No apology
Anyways i got the food and the food was impreciable however the food lableing wasnt clear as picked up an indian dish what set my mouth on fire but again not an issue
But the only thing i never liked was my donouts as they was dry as sticks
The othe thing why was two large pepsi a fiver then a small and a large was five fifty
That dont make sense
Probs be back for food but the customer serivce needs looking into
Lots of choice. I am vegetarian and the only lack of choice was in the Indian curry section, it was all chicken based. There was a party of 4 adults and 4 children.
Very pleased, variety of tasty food to choose from!
Great quality food, been twice this year
Not worth the price , considering that drinks are charged separate, best bit was the desserts
Absolutely love this place food is epic staff are awesome thank you
I had a very nice meal, and since it was a buffet and I can put away quite a large quantity of food when I feel like it, it was very good value for money!
You're encouraged to sanitise your hands and/or use disposable plastic gloves, which I preferred as the protection from germs goes both ways then.
I would advise having a first trip round where you take a tiny bit of anything that takes your fancy at all, to taste, then come back and specialise on the ones that you enjoyed the most.
The quality was pretty good for a buffet, and whist the chicken tikka masala was a little too sweet for my taste and the corn on the cob didn't taste quite as fresh as I'd hoped, the chicken karahi was great, the beef in black bean sauce was delicious (and went very well I found with the stir fried mushrooms), the lemon chicken was tender and tasty, and the satay chicken was superb.
I was free to experiment with a lot of other dishes and enjoyed myself thoroughly. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful - we had two waiting staff in our section of eight or nine not very large tables, so it was particularly easy to get what you need.
You pay slightly more in peak times - weekend evenings et , and get an hour and a half sitting rather than the usual two hours, but I had filled myself to the maximum in about an hour without any particular rush, so it didn't seem an issue. Drinks are extra.
I went at 5:30 on a Friday night, having pre booked, which I think was a good time and a good decision. When I came out just over an hour later there was a queue to get in.
Pro: Great variety and quantity for the price.
Con: Not all of it is up to the quality of the best.
Pro: The best is really very good.
Very reasonable price. Lots of space and lots of variety to choose from .food was great does get busy especially around the holidays would recommend.
Quite busy but good selection of food
Fantastic Chinese! I tryed almost everything
They also have curry and Italian which were poor in my experience they also have a grilled part I didn't try it very busy but I'd definitely go back for the Chinese
Very nice open buffet restaurant with alot of halal options and alot of food varieties but the drinks are chargeable
Had a lovely evening food was wonderful xxxx
"Manchester" and first think is TOPS Buffet.. I love this amazing place with amazing food. Good quality food and very tasty.. Oh Nom Nom.. :D
Apart from having to pay for your drinks whilst you have a mouthful, scrambling for your wallet with greasy hands, it was okay..
A fantastic buffet resturant, but there's always a que to get in.
Excellent choice and quality (Chinese, Indian Japanese, Italian) even roast dinner. We visited on a Sunday lunch time. Highly recommended.
The food was the best and u can get as much as u want they have space to walk the place is not that busy as u think exactly in the night time I went there and the staff are super nice i asked for my food to be warmed cuz it was not hot enough and I like mine very hot and they warmed it for me.
I recommend you to go there
Food taste amazing so much flavour and lots of different types of foods to try from so perfect for the family who want to have different meals. Staff are very nice and friendly.
An amazing choice of dishes all served piping hot. The deserts were good too! Great service and immaculately clean
Not super disability friendly but, even during the lunch menu, a good amouny of food variety, decent pricing and comfy atmosphere, would recommend a go if you're not after anything too fancy
Loved the experience altogether. Be it any occasion, celebration or just regular dinner needs I had a great time every time.
I highly recommend it as it has a bit of every part of the world 🌎 in it.
Try it out atlease once and you'll find yourself going there every time.
Food was really nice and a good selection to choose from
Always go to TOPS and introduced a couole of work colleagues tonight. The food and service were second to none.. top marks!!!
Very good quality food
Been here a few times ,food really good not bad priced
Lovely food, great customer service. We've visited during very busy evening and despite full house service was flawless .
Good food, Great customer service easy access loved it, will definately be recommending to my friends!!!
We went a couple a week ago and the food was absolutely amazing.
Fantastic place, loads of food to choose from
Went for a family birthday meal (10)people what a great place to eat food first class staff very pleasant and friendly will be going again
Excellent all you can eat buffet with a wide variety of different food choices.
Busy restaurant but we'll organised. Good cooked beautifully. One of my dishes was a sirloin steak, medium fried - delicious.
Surprisingly good all cusine buffet, will be back again
Always go to TOPS and introduced a couole of work colleagues tonight. The food and service were second to none.. top marks!!!
Not like how it used to be, food was like it was from the day before and warmed up, also didn't refill when empty had to wait ages. We used to go every birthday x5 and ones a month,
Kool place to eat. Very clean and spacious. Amazing selection of food.
This place is such a great buffet to go with a family. Many different dishes from all around the world ranging from pizzas to noodles to sushi. Very clean, staff was helpful and friendly. Price wise, pretty reasonable, especially for the quality of food. I been here about 5 times now and I have never been disappointed. Favourite place to eat ever!
Been a few years since ate here, definitely scaled things back...Still OK but only OK
Super, the staff is really friendly and the food was nice. Nice experience.
Food was ok nothing special, staff were brilliant though. Very clean, provided you with sanitiser and gloves to get your food. Don't fall for the parking though, even with the discount it's ridiculously overpriced. Find your own car park.
The buffet as a diversity chicken breast meat rice pasta dessert
Nice Asian style buffet
We as a family love this place when you think of how much a meal out costs per person . Taking a family of 7 and getting all of us fed starters main and desert . For around £100 is amazing. Obviously we had children who are a little cheaper .. food is always hot always fresh and a good choice . The only fault I can give is the staff (not all staff) but the odd few are quite rude . One actually moved my child’s high hair with her inside why she was eating just so they could sweep under the table .. obviously I didn’t leave it there she was told.
This place is amazing depending on what time you go! If you go even 2 hours before closing time, they will stop replenishing the food nd even start packing some away.
Very good dining venue with lots of choice and and reasonably priced. Would have got 5 stars but my Guiness was served warm!
It doesn't look like much from the outside but food is really good
All good typical buffet food nothing exceptional but no issue finding something to eat.
Very large selection of food from all over the world!
Lovely food & friendly staff.
Great selection. All hot and fresh. Definitely be back
Good enough, popular buffet.
I love bringing my family here the food is just amazing
Lovely food, great customer service. We've visited during very busy evening and despite full house service was flawless .
Quality was ok drinks are expensive as predicted we didnt stay long or eat much of what was there. Would go again if we couldn't find anywhere else
Brilliant bang-for-your-buck all you can eat buffet. The food is pretty decent for the price, and the range is brilliant. There's definitely something for everyone there- your kids only eat fish fingers but you really want to go out for a Chinese meal? Not a problem at Tops!
Additionally, should you go, please be nice to the staff! Their £8.50 all you can eat lunch price attracts a wide range of customers, and some aren't appreciative of the staff's hard work!
Brilliant buffet, couldn't ask for anything better..
Visited with my boys and we absolutely loved it
Usual buffet affair with a touch of school dinners atmosphere.
Been several times and always enjoy.
Average buffet food, but a good place to go if you want to eat a lot, have cheap drink (2-4-1 on cocktails) and watch football (if its on). Its got everything you'd expect from a world food buffet, I just found some of the food cold, some not tasting the best. Don't get me wrong some food was nice as well, just overall an average experience. You pay what you get.
This Restaurant has some good and bad reviews but after going it was not as good at we thought food rating for me 5 out of 10 . There is a lot of food options like Indian, Chinese, Thai, and a sushi area, and British options as well But some of the food had been over cooked sometimes right in front of you , and alot of it But not all had been standing around in hot plates for a long time.
So it was dry or tasteless or hard like rubber. The sweet area was good, a chocolate Fountain a vast amount of cake ,fruit , icecreams although in small tubs, and jelly in shot glasses, Overall the restaurant was a big place it felt like a 1970s style Holiday park dining room . The service from the staff is rated as 2 out of 10 . So I and my friends will not be going again 🤨🤨🤨🤨
Really good. Good selections and the chef on the hot plate was lovely. However service was slow and plates left on the table for a while.
Huge selection of food, both already cooked and waiting to be cooked by their chefs. All you can eat (and all you can eat dessert) normally goes down well. Lunchtime eating is very good value at £11 and they offer promotions for birthdays too. Knocked a star off for the greasy feeling i left with, but that often comes with fried food produced en masse like this. Overall enjoyed the experience, but they could stand to turn up the AC in the summer.
Excellent choice of food. Good atmosphere for big group of family or friends. Highly recommend to book in advance.
I've been here a few times with colleagues. They have a wide variety of dishes from Chinese to Indian to pizza, none of which taste authentic but they are adequate enough and you can have as much or as little as you like. The staff are very attentive.
Went here as a second choice and didnt disappoint. Food was good although could have had a better choice of indian dishes.
Eat as much as you like, food is good for the price. Not bad but but not top class.
Great place for an all you can eat buffet
Food was good few item wasn't available that have been in the past...had to ware plastic gloves and mask due to covid understandable...would definitely recommend just wouldn't recommend eating as much as I did haha seven plates basically all meat lol very enjoyable though
Good food, Great customer service easy access loved it, will definately be recommending to my friends!!!
It was good with a range of mains and starters however most of the food was cold and plates were dirty so had to look for a clean one. Tables/chairs are very close to each other so therefore had to ask other people to squeeze in, in order to get up. Good range of drinks however would be better if they were more easily accessible as they are further away from your seat. Finally the table service isn’t great as we had loads of plates needing to get rid of but waiters kept on walking past ignoring us. Probably won’t go again however if I get invited by a friend I would go.
We went a couple a week ago and the food was absolutely amazing.
Stuff to ya chuck its quantity over quality so the food is nothing special
I did not mind it at all but perhaps the timing was the reason for the lack of variety as I have been told that it is amazing at dinner time. Nice world-food style buffet from (not the best) sushi to whole salmon or spring rolls. Nice desserts.
The variety of food at lunch time is however poor and a little unappealing so I felt that it was generally pricey for what was on offer at that time.
I would not say it is obviously vegetarian friendly.
Very nice decor and not (generally) overpriced, laid back; fun atmosphere.
Food was food not spectacular. Deserts are horrible. They look better than they taste
Brilliant food buffet has 85% halal specialises in Chinese ....desserts are amazing....great for parties and get togethers
Was great for a buffett. Food was delicious I would return. Tables are far too close together. So nothing changed after lockdown.
Lovely place food was great quality and a good atmosphere will certainly be going back again
Personally I liked it. The best buffet I have been to so far. It had lots of different cuisines and for me they were tasty. We came at mid-week evening buffet opening time so maybe everything was fresh and that's why it was good. The only thing is that they don't serve the original coca cola, sprite etc. Only some cheap coke. Would like to have real coke.
Great selection of world foods, regularly topped up and more importantly, kept hot! Great value
Great food, drinks are table service only which is good but a tad slow, place was full so understandable
The food at Tops is always brilliant! Lots of options and the empty trays were refilled very often.
Only issue is the drinks. Getting served at the bar can take forever and if you're seated during peak times you have 1 hour 30 minutes to eat before they need you to leave to make room for new customers. I believe you can get drinks ordered but no one explicitly comes and asks you if you want anything.
Generally a really good place to go if your eating out with lots of different people as there's something for everyone!
We got there a bit later (8pm) to avoid the crowds but the compromise was that the food was running down and had been out for some time. They do replenish but I noted a few empties. Food was ok, loads of it as you would/should expect in a place like that. Drinks were a bit expensive, we were on soft drink and got little change back from £10 for two large ones. Big selection and choice, I had my fill and got what I expected from it.
Food was tasty. A little bit to much fried oil, but choosing not fried dish everything was good and tasty. You have 1 hour to use buffet, so you cannot eat slowly. Location is good. Restaurant looks good. Is always crowded but I think is good for that place.
Went to Topps knowing it was fully booked but was told if turn up it could be a 2 hrs wait the Door staff was so helpful we was patient of waiting even with 3 children we got in and the staff was excellent they explained the situation with the covid-19 the place was so good not waiting 45 to 1 hour for food also give out gloves to get own food well done to the team I will be.doing again fantastic team I also told one.of the staff how amazing it was thank you Topps was lovely thanks again
Michelle Sersa
Big selection, however some dishes were chewy, and not that fresh.. The sushi for example was very dry. Average value for money
Amazing place. Perfect food. Great staff. Plenty of time. Good price. Will definitely be coming back!
Only down side was 2 parties of kids running around in a tightly pact place with chocolate on their hands, and the parents not giving a sh*t.
Large Spacious, fantastic choice of foods great for large groups or dining by yourself.
I suggest you try a little bit everything and don't load up on rice ,noodles or pasta. All the food was delicious, lamb cooked perfectly tandoori wings weren't the best but otherwise had a great meal
Food was good here, delicious curry and pretty much every cuisine you could want, but I am leaving three stars due to the running of the place. We paid full price to get in and enjoy but we were sat right next to a TV screen with promos on it. One said there was a discount for group bookings in advance and the other said if it was your birthday you got in free - and we had both and the restaurant knew about both and said nothing l. When we spoke to the manager he said there was nothing they could do about it. We're not difficult people and would've settled for a free drink each or a voucher upon returning but no such grace given. Disappointing customer service indeed - if you're not going to action your promos, don't sit people next to them!
Went with my son's for lunch as a birthday treat. It wasn't busy and the staff friendly. There was plenty of choice and the food very nice. It was good to see that staff were checking the food 'trays' and replenishing when needed. Overall, a really good visit.
I spend alot of my birthdays here and there food is great but the deserts are not very good. There is not enough ice cream and the writing telling you what the food is, is to small for anyone with reading glasses to read so I spent my whole night scooping tiny ice creams into a bowl and telling my dad what it said. But the actual food is great and the waiters are realy freindly. I would advise to go here but not for the desert.
Great selection of world foods, including sushi and freshly prepared meats. Good dessert selection too. Only downfall is the tables have lots of party size options from 2-20 but are very close together , making it hard to move from seat to buffet.
Lovely food, friendly helpful staff
Great variety of main course and starter food and pretty interior. Food is mediocre but tasty, especially the starter food, and for the price of the buffet (£8.50 a head) it's an amazing place to eat with friends and especially family! Not a great place to go for dessert and I would not recommend getting sushi, however, halal food is included!
Affordable, nice meal, large space. Played me a birthday song.
There was quite a variety to choose from. I do find a lot of the foods to be too sweet for my liking (cos I'm sweet enough😉😉). It is good value for money in my opinion.
The establishment is great. Big cosy. Nice atmos and lighting. Depending on what time of day you go will determine what quality of service you get. Try and avoid going late at night during the week as it closes at 10:30 the staff are already cleaning around you at 9:40pm. Mopping floors with the smell of disinfectant which put me off my food. Also the food is normally great but maybe going at that time some foods have been sat there too long also beware of the gents loo's as women cleaners just burst in while you are peeing. They don't acknowledge you or wait until you finish... 3 stars is quite generous really but I've been here a few times and it's pretty good. I just don't advise eating any later than 5 or 6pm here!..
Very overcrowded, to be expected from a all-you-can eat I guess. Staff are quite blunt, and seem to work in a 'robot-like' behaviour. The spacing between seats is very small, I don't feel like I can have a private conversation. On the plus, the food has nice variety and tastes more premium than Red Hot Buffet, and nice choice of desserts too. Decently priced when not going on a weekend. One thing I'd ask to be improved is to improve the cleanliness of the desert area, as it was quite messy.
Great food, I especially enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken and the grilled steak. Would definitely come again.
It was fine for one time, but we won’t be returning
I visited with my two adult children on a weekday at the beginning of June. There are a few steps to take down to the restaurant, but if you’re disabled there is a ramp available to use. However, it’s one of those where you have to wait for assistance from the staff, you cannot operate it yourself, and also, you’re not allowed to have a carer come with you on the ramp. The restaurant is very dark and makes me feel like they’ve done it so you cannot really judge how much time you’ve spent there eating and how fresh the food is. In terms of choice, there is a variety of foods on offer, not just Chinese. There is a good choice for vegetarians too. Not so great choice if you’re vegan though. In terms of greasiness, which is always a risk with buffets - it was very greasy. In fact, one of our party had to have some Gaviscon a few hours after the lunch. The desserts section was very small compared with the overall size of the restaurant, which was a bit disappointing. So, in terms of value for money - depends on what you’re after. Also, when we went to the toilets (there are general ladies and gents and designated, separate disabled toilets), which are located right at the end of the venue, there was some food on the floor that had not been cleaned and it looked like a real hazard in terms of slipping on it. Thankfully, no one did, but no one looked like they were about to clean it either, so not sure where that situation was heading. Therefore, it was not dreadful, and we don’t regret having a visit to the place for a one time lunch, but we won’t be returning to it and hence cannot recommend it to others.
Great place brilliant food carnt wait to go again soon hopefully best buffet I've ever went to ..👍👍🔥🔥🔥
Kids enjoy going so I go with the flow
Been here a few times food has been decent. The Thai curries tend to rotate so it may be worth having a look at what's on offer before you pay (you have to pay before you eat). Whilst they do serve other cuisines here, the only reason to go is for the Thai food. Dessert selection not great..
We like the occasional buffet but they're usually pretty bland, samey and being vegetarian usually limits me to less than 3 or 4 dishes. When I asked about veggie options, we were invited to go and have a look at the options before committing.
Oh my gosh, what a selection! Tons of dishes and loads of vegetarian options! A crepe station, tepanyaki station, large dessert selection and reasonably priced drinks. We decided to give it a try! After 5pm on a Friday it was £16.50 per person and the food was actually very flavoursome and tasty, we both really enjoyed it all!
The only buffet we've ever given 5 stars to.
I like this place. It's quite busy and you will have to look at specific times. Don't recommend you to go till the end of the lunch. They will close for some time before the dinner starts, so you will have less choice. However for the buffet is quite good and reasonable choice. Many cuisines to experience. Quite big variety of different foods. I would like to see more better quality sweets though.
Great place to dine in... Staff are very friendly and helpful. Lots of choices to pick and definitely no shortage of food.
Great place a lots of food choices & desserts
A must go in Manchester
This place used to be very good. But the standard has dropped significantly. The guy on the meat grill: has to be the slowest guy in the world. Stood waiting for 30 minutes for a minute steak. The quality of the meat is very poor.
Can’t fault the restaurant for their stringent coronavirus measures it was very well organised and felt very safe however I am pescatarian meaning I can eat fish and dairy but I do not eat meat and unfortunately the options were none existent. They had only one vegetarian main which was tofu and everything else was meat, great for meat eaters but if you don’t eat meat don’t bother.
Very nice food with so many options.. Highly recommended
Went here yesterday it was half price, the tables were spaced our . We had to wear plastic gloves to get our food which was okay. Also there was a one way system, so we felt alright, the menu was limited but we enjoyed what there was . We would go again the staff were very on the ball .
Food was delicious. Lots of veggie/vegan friendly options and all food is clearly labelled for allergies etc. Staff were very efficient. Nice and clean place. All the food was nice and fresh and topped up regularly. Jugs of water and glasses were available free of charge at the bar. Only thing was, 4 out of the 5 toilets were 'unusable', which resulted in quite a que for the toilet and there was also no soap so i just waited until i got home. Could just be a one off for that day though. Everything else was spot on. Would deffo go again. I would advice that you brace yourself if you wish to try all of the different food otherwise you will fill up too soon!
Great place. Wide variety of food that tastes delicious! Friendly staff. Very efficient. It's a shame drinks can't be refillable for the price you pay. But other than that it was a brilliant place!
Love the food here! We go here all the time and the food is always amazing. The people are great and polite and I can without a doubt say that this is mine and all of my families favourite restaurant.
Excellent place to eat. Such a wide range of meals and desserts to choose from all cooked and prepared to a great standard. Everything looked appetising and the staff made sure that dirty glasses and played were cleared up quickly. A must visit place whenever I'm in Manchester.
Nice and busy but always plenty of food out none of the dishes empty. Paid before getting to the table which is fine but had to go to the bar for own drinks which could be a bit of a pain if sitting far away. Tables cleared quickly so wasn't plates mounting up all over. One of the best if not the best buffet in city centre.
Unfortunately not much veggie option for me always seems to be the case with buffet but the food was nice
Good location in centre of Manchester. Good selection of food for all tastes. And a good good selection of deserts. Drinks can be a bit more pricy than elsewhere. But free water is also on offer if you prefer. Would recommend it. They also offer a student discount.
This isn't a bad place. The staff are good, the price is higher than other places but that is worth it. The range of food is quite overwhelming and certainly will keep you occupied if you want to try a bit of everything. The food itself is ok. It isn't mind blowing but then, you shouldn't to go to a place like this and expect high end food.
This may read as obvious, but, you can't go in if you just want to drink while others eat. They will make you pay for food as well. Understandable really, but a friend of mine didn't quite understand that one!
Its clean, its reasonably priced, the staff are quick to clean tables and plates. The choice is good, drinks are again reasonable. Look, you get what you pay for, it's not £60 a head, it's a 'all you can eat' for just over a tenner on a weekend. You'll be full up and happy, give it a go....
A wide selection of food for sure. However, I don't think it needs three people at the entrance to make sure you paid the £8 before going in. One person receives the payment and the other takes the receipt from you 5 seconds later! Please make people feel welcome even if you are cheap.
I would have given it 4 stars if any drink was included.
Great selection of dishes, regularly topped up and decent heat. They will heat up further on request. Drinks a bit pricey but thoroughly enjoyable evening and there really is something for everyone, including Chinese, Thai, Indian, Japanese, Italian, English, Teppanyaki and I'm sure I've missed some more! Good selection of puddings too including chocolate fountains (white and milk chocolate), ice cream station and various fruits and cakes. Highly recommended!
This restaurant is obviously one of the tastiest place in the neighborhood. Every time I visit this place I am profoundly happy. They keep their high level service and the topmost level of meals they serve. You are always happy with this place. Very recommended.
Great value 👏👌fab food, and of course all you can eat.
This is my favourite buffet. The choice is staggering. Some of the quality varies - don't touch the sushi. There is also a canteen feel like most buffet venues however this one feels more upmarket. I've been here on my birthday and enjoyed myself.
The service is excellent, and the Chinese and Japanese food they serve is REALLY good, truly first, especially the duck pancakes and sweet and sour pork - always a good sign when the Chinese locals eat there. However, I am giving a 4 star rather than 5 star because the Indian food they do is not very good. They have lots of Chinese chefs, perhaps they should hire an Indian chef for the Indian food? Still, highly recommended overall, just avoid the Indian food! ;)
My husband is a big fan of their seafood section so we booked his 30th birthday there. As usual front desk staff and waiters/ress are helpful and friendly. The food is lovely and the atmosphere clean. The bonus was that the staff are very child friendly and even offered to help carry the little one up stairs in her car seat. Overall great experience
The variety of cuisine is impressive, but the reality is 'Jack of all trades, master of none'. Nothing is special here part from the amount you can shovel down your neck. Even that was questionable given that you have a limited time to eat!
We arrived with a party of 18 for a 40th birthday party. We were not allowed to sit until most of the guests arrived. When we were finally seated 15 minutes late, we told that we had only 1.25 hours to be out (Normally 1.5hours for parties if the restaurant staff had been on time!).
The staff were polite but not attentive. Plates were stacking up before being removed. I don't like the fact you have to pay before entry. I think payment should be upon satisfaction. The £16 price tag only reflects the amount you can shovel not the quality of the food.
We provided a cake to the staff for them to bring out later. They managed to somehow warp the cake and melt the icing. On the plus side we got 3 free bottles of the cheapest Rose wine available as we had a party of 18 (included as standard for parties).
Since these world type buffet places first came about, all I have been into recently have let their standards drop. Unfortunaty TOPS is no exception!
I use to like this place I tend to go on family birthdays and on my visit this time I noticed a few things on selected foods have been made smaller the plates have gone smaller.the dessert section has halved.it used to have a good selection and displays made out of food now it's just got I think its 3 fridges one for small pots ice cream one for pots deserts and one for fruit.NO more soft whippy ice cream that use to be next to the chocolate fountain now stands alone on it's own.the disabled toilet wasn't really clean and the last thing l wasn't happy with was while we was away from our table getting food some one had been round and put Christmas crackers on all the tables but none on ours not a happy beanie!! So this I why I have only given 3stars.i don't think I will be going again!! .happy new year every one.!
Me and my wife took our 12 year old son and his mate. 1.30pm booking. In and seated on time. Food choice brilliant, food quality very good. We got the children eat free (under 150cm) deal so actually paid £19.00 for two adults and two kids. Can't do McDonald's for that. Highly recommended. Tops !! Get it ?
