Love Francesscas the food is delicious the ambience is warm and friendly and at a reasonable price. What more could you ask for. You do have to queue but get yourself a drink whilst your standing and take it all in.

Lovely staff, great food, nice decor. I went with my daughters and we had a cannelloni, spagbol and a penne bolognese. Portions are very generous. I ended up taking the other half of my cannelloni home. For desserts we had a raspberry sorbet and a portion of profiterrole. Really enjoyed our girls night out.

Had lunch here with my wife and daughter, staff very friendly and sociable, served quickly with drinks (pint of peroni, 1/2 peroni, diet coke and glass of prosecco) food was gorgeous, tomato garlic bread, smoked haddock risotto, penne arabiata, tagliatelle carbonara, and all for less than £50.

Great food and atmosphere. A very novel idea as you can order your favourite pasta and pizza dish as a half and half! Ridiculously reasonably priced food and drink too, with an authentic, rustic and Italian feel. The only complaint I'd have is that the queuing time was longer than usual, and there was no option to book. But a big queue is always a good sign!

While staying in the area and after seeing the high rating, thought I would give this place a go. Went early after reading about potential queue, but I wasn't early enough and waited 45 mins to be seated. The smells were good and kept me in said queue. The place is really really busy and the crowd seems to be mainly students, was so hungry and really looking forward to this authentic Italian experience unfolding before me. The staff were all great and friendly, the food here was it's let down, don't get me wrong it's ok hence the 3 stars but was expecting so much more. For the price though couldn't complain. The half pizza half pasta I got was average, don't understand how they do half a pizza, I imagine kitchen full of half pizzas being brought out as ordered as mine didn't feel fresh and the cheese potentially processed as it had a very greasy feel to it the Carbonara I would put on par with a supermarket microwave meal. The place is always busy so appeals to a certain crowd.

Highly recommended. They take no bookings so you just turn up and queue as we did for almost an hour (at 7pm) but it was well worth the wait. Loads of different Italian meals and wines at a reasonable cost. You can chose half and half - pizza and pasta. We all chose seafood variations and agreed it was the best Italian meal we had had for years. We will be queuing again very soon.

Fantastic authentic Italian based in jesmond. We arrived at 4:45 and the queue was starting already. By the time it opened 30 people waiting. Servered by very friendly and very efficient staff. Food cake which was delicious, very quick turn around. Definitely recommend

Excellent food. Reasonably friendly staff. But the guy taking payment on the credit card device could do with a bit of staff training, rather offhand and slightly spoiled what until then had been a nice experience. Music too loud too.

There were quite a lot of crowds when I arrive. Waiting around 15 mins for the seat and I was impress how the waitress were nice and welcoming. The food were alright but I would to point out there were relatively cheap. Portion were big as well so it will be perfect if you’re hungry or low in budget. But the quality were not outstanding in any mean. I ordered a tiramisu for dessert and it was probably putted in the fridge too long which have a hint of taste in it.

Very long 2 hr wait only then to nearly have same size group get a table before us until we pointed this out. Whilst you can't book, a wait that long and being put into known size groups in numbers means they shouldn't make mistakes. Very nice atmosphere, quite an extensive menu where you can opt for half and half on some dishes like pizza and pasta for a small extra charge but in my opinion average food. You can get drinks at the bar and take outside whilst queuing.

Regular visitor since the early 80s, when the pizzeria was just the middle section, and the queue was out of the door, with a bottle of wine to share in anticipation. Food is still great: amazing value, and consistently top notch. Friendly, welcoming staff too.

Went with a friend and her little boy. I was in the queue early ready for 5pm opening as it gets really busy. No bookings! Lovely service, tasty food. The waiters were great with the little chap who covered them with stickers. Lovely evening.

Read the reviews and thought must visit. We stood for two hours and were none to pleased with the quality of food. It was ok but have had better at Uno's on the quayside. Our party of four allsaid the same, just couldnt see the hype.

Had quite a huffy waiter who expected us to know what we wanted to drink as soon as we sat down and before we had even had a chance to look at the menu. Love it here! You'll have to queue but it's totally worth the wait. Very reasonably priced and efficient service. As a vegetarian I sometimes struggle at Italian restaurants to find something I can eat that isn't a margherita pizza but I don't have an issue here. Definitely would recommend the Pasta Con Le Melanzane. You can also get half and half if you can't choose between pizza and pasta. It's the best!

If there is one place you have to go it is this one. THE best Italian restaurant I have ever been to. We go here quite regularly, and whilst the food is almost always amazing, the service can often be hitty missy depending on which staff are in. We had to wait a long time for drinks initially, and were offered no additional ones. We were hoping to order desserts, but after waiting 20 minutes after finishing our meals, still nobody came, so we went to the bar to pay the bill and left. It's a lovely family restaurant and would go back, you just have to be prepared that the service isn't always with a smile, or forthcoming.

I had heard such alot of good reports about this place..so today i gave it a try with friends...my starter was Prawn/Chilli Sauce-The sauce was actually made with Tomato Soup Being the main ingredient....followed by Chicken/Chilli Sauce...the sauce was made with what tasted like Oxtail Soup- again being the main ingredient...the dessert was tasty ...but we wont be returning .........disappointing...

Great Italian food in a lively atmosphere with friendly service and reasonable prices. This is a very popular place so it will often take a while to find a parking spot nearby, and there is often a queue to be seated if you haven't booked, but it's probably worth it.

Had a lovely meal last night at Francesca's pizzeria. Has been so long since I was last there and it has been extended and refurbished. Still the same welcoming atmosphere and great food that it's famous for.Thanks to Toni for making us so welcome and helping with the menu choice. The sea-bass with mussels was amazing. I think I might have had a bit too much wine but what the hell..it was a cebration of being back in Newcastle and Francesca's after so long. The staff are so lovely and friendly.
