Reviews of Prima Restaurant
R. P.
One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been to!
The food was incredible, I’ll let you judge from the pictures but honestly, just wow!
The food came quickly and the staff were lovely.
Coming up from the south it was very, very fairly priced, think it was £115 for 6 drinks (including 2 cocktails) 4 starters and 5 mains which is just fantastic.
Next time I’m in newcastle I will be making a conscious effort to get back to Prima.

Walk-in on a Thursday early evening. Seated straight away under the arch. Drinks and order taken pretty quickly and not too long to wait for them to be served either. Food really good, though at £25 per head including drinks and (pre-added) tip a bit more expensive. Downsides were the background music being too loud and the cigarette smoke drifting through from outside.
T. P.
Outstanding food, honestly one of the best pasta dishes I've had the pleasure of eating.

Absolutely love the atmosphere inside the building, the decor is wonderful and has the perfect dimly lit aura! The toilets are truly wonderful too.
Although it disheartens me that I have to say that the quality in food as greatly decreased in the paat few years. The food tasted much more flavourful and delicious in the past, compared to when I've visited more recently. The prices are good, just wouldn't be my number one place to recommend.

This place was AWESOME. From the moment I walked in I was impressed, it was everything you want from a good Italian restaurant. Paulo greeted us with a cracking charm and flair and introduced us to the pizza chef who was working her magic with a cracking pizza oven. The menu choices were spot on and they had a nice IPA on tap which we both ended up having. The pizzas were simply the best we've had - I'm talking better than what we've had in Italy and New York! It was a nice atmosphere, the staff were all attentive and professional, it was clean and well presented inside.
We'll definitely be back to Prima, probably quite soon!!

Absolutely lovely date meal. Food was outstanding thanks to the chef

Best Italian restaurant I've been to, everything I've tried from the menu has been delicious. Very affordable also, 2 for 1 cocktails and bottomless brunches make for a great day/night out!
R.
I’m irritated.
For food : an absolute superb 5/5. Excellent ravioli with prawns and the pizza was absolutely superb. Outside of Italy, I dare say this was one of the best ravioli dishes I’ve ever eaten. The clickitty clack of the trains passing above adds a nice touch to the ambience. The food was prepared quickly and efficiently.
What left a bitter taste in the mouth was (as pictured) there’s a happy hour price (approx 5 pound off the ravioli). We were clearly within the happy hour(15-20 mins before 7) when we showed up and ordered, but when I inquired, I was told the happy hour price ‘was a mistake’ and full rates applied.
You have an excellent product, don’t try and pull the wool over a customers eyes for 5 pound. It won’t change your life nor mine, but it will make a customer feel ripped off.

Had a Just Eat delivery from here, arrived on time, well packaged and everything was still hot! The spicy king prawn arabbiatta was heavenly, very nice taste and a good amount for a starter! Well i havent had a steak delivery before.. well this was cooked to perfection..10oz rump steak with peppercorn sauce was exelent exactly what i was looking for, very delicious indeed! I also got a tomato red onion and rocket salad too, there was loads and the balsamic dressing was lovely.. mmm. As for my chips, bit of a let down tbh.. soggy and overcooked! I would defo order this again minus the chips 👌👍😁

Father's day meal at 5pm. Party of 6. Staff very polite and attentive. I had the linguini Scoglio which was perfect. 3 others had Calzone pizzas but opinion was the base was far too thick and dry. 2 kids had Potato skins and pizza which were fine . Overall, a very good and popular restaurant. Full when we were there

Had a really lovely meal here. The staff went out of their way to make us and our dog feel welcome and at home (the hound even got a little plate of ham to nibble). Really was a sweet gesture and that plus the incredible pizza and sides really hit the spot for us. Thank you.

A great find, food very tasty had Sunday lunch would recommend. Cocktails 🍸
Staff friendly, service was a bit slow, but food & 🍸made up for it.
Would go again

We booked a table quite last minute and Prima was pretty much the only place that have availability for a Saturday night. The location is really great and the setting and surroundings are beautiful, set under the railway arch with huge ceilings.
The food was very good, although the steaks came with chilled tomato and mushroom which was a bit weird and there was a bit of a mix up with the sauces which was rectified quickly.
The thing that let the place down was the service. It was super busy so I can understand that things might take a bit longer but some of the staff were just clearly disinterested. The 2 lads who served the food were so disinterested they pretty much threw the plates down to us and we saw them do the same to other tables.
It took quite a while to get the food which again is totally fine as it was really busy and we were happy to just sit drinking. But even when we ordered drinks it took 10 - 15 minutes to get each round which was a bit disappointing and we would have drank a lot more had the service been better.
A bit of enhancement on the service would make a huge difference and would improve the profits as we would have spent quite a bit more on extra drinks had the service been better.
R.
Food was great and the atmosphere was very cosy but the serving staff made the experience.
He was a really friendly staff member with dark hair doing a business degree. Deserves credit for his attentiveness and making us feel right at home.
Thank you!
A. G.
The food wqs outstanding couldn't fault it! However the service really let it down. We waited well over an hour between each course and when the meal did eventually come out the staff were abrupt and impatient. Resulting in people getting the wrong food. It was super busy which might explain it but then maybe they should have more staff on hand or taken less covers. Overall not the greatest experience sadly and won't be returning.
A. A.
Excellent friendly staff food was very nice.
Reasonably priced. Owner is there quite a lot he is always busy he is a nice person looks after his customers. 100% recomend this place

Superb last night in Prima.
Visited with my girlfriend after she recommended I come and try the Salmone (used to get it in Ponteland and I think the same family own/used to own both restaurants...) - basically my favourite pasta and only a few restaurants can make it properly...
Upon arrival the lady with the blonde hair (didn't catch her name), despite it being really busy, kindly asked us to have a drink at the bar whilst a table became free - it might seem basic, but a lot of restaurants get this wrong and say "we're full" or just leave you standing around.
We were then seen to our table, and another young lady (didn't catch her name but blonde hair and really friendly) was chatty, and friendly. Service was quick, we felt welcome, and then another lady (sorry, no name but dark hair and quite tall) took everything away at the end and was also friendly and chatty....
The food was brilliant. Hot, fresh, good portions, and the Salmone was 10/10.
It might seem over the top, but it's very rare restaurants get everything right like this...but Prima on this occasion absolutely did, despite the restaurant being at full capacity everyone was serving customers quickly, chatting to them, and the empty plates around us suggest others enjoyed their food too.
100% will be back soon, and credit to the team for delivering quality service during such a busy period (it's service like this that makes you really not think twice about the added service charge).

Wonderful restaurant, excellent food, fantastic staff. Would have been 5 stars but a chap started singing with a guitar right next to us, and made it impossible for my wife and I to continue our conversation.
A. C.
Ok don't quite know where to start with this one. The place is different with it being under the railway bridge. Yes you can hear trains every so often. Staff were lovely and not pushy. The place was busy and that may have added to the multiple confusions with our order, which got mixed up more than once. Having said that the food was tasty and the crackling on the belly pork was spot on. So sorry no five stars but a damn good try.
M. C.
A very friendly and trendy looking Italian in Newcastle, offering a variety of meals. The atmosphere inside Prima is amazing, the staff are attentive and helpful, and the food is lovely. We ordered a starter and it was so huge we really should have left it at that! However we also ordered a main which was lovely. Prima restaurant do happy hour from 12-5 on Saturday which prices the majority of meals as £7 - definitely worth it!
D. B.
Food gorgeous, staff very friendly & helpful. Restaurant was very busy & we waited an hour for starters, however, there were 16 of us in our party. Overall, a lovely evening
D. H.
Great food and friendly staff I've been coming here for years and it's quality has never changed
C. B.
Amazing food!! Best vegetarian lasagne I've ever tasted! Quite quiet but we went on a Monday night but still a lovely atmosphere, good cocktails too.
R. N.
Fantastic service. Highly recommended. In my opinion, puts other food places customer experience like my last outing, 'Blossoms' to shame. Pablo the waiter at Prima a lovely character - thanks for making our family birthday special.
G. N.
The food here is amazing, rigatoni genovese is one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had in my life but what ruins it is the level of noise in there. Music is turned up all the way so you can’t even hear the person next to you and it’s not like I’m elderly with hearing problems. Proper shame.
M. O.
Booked meal for my retirement do for 24 people. From booking which was straight forward to the meal on the day.. Every one was so impressed with the food and service. . Highly recommend this place to anyone. Perfect.Thank you.
R. J.
We were lucky to get a walk in table on a Saturday as restaurant was very busy. Excellent and friendly service. Food superb. Top class ingredients well coooked. Highly recommended.
J.
Good food, lovely stuff, they saved my birthday! ❤ The only problem was that the stuff was very busy and we waited for ages at our table after getting food for the waitress to come so we could ask for more drinks.
K. C.
Food was excellent and staff were wonderful. The only criticism I have is that our server didn't have his protective visor down a few times whilst serving us but other than that it was lovely!
B. D.
5 of us visited for bottomless brunch. We were given a choice of prosecco, gin, or pink gin. You get a sharing starter and a main. Food was lush, huge portions which I was surprised about for the deal - we were all stuffed! Drinks were also fab and the staff were very attentive at topping them up as soon as we were finished. Lovely all round!
P. D.
Food was excellent and staff friendly. Only criticism would be they need to sort out their booking system as it feels they don't space out the slots or over booked. Waiting half an hour when you have booked was a bit annoying.
V. K.
Lovely food, great service. I would definitely go back. Lively and a vibrant restaurant.
J. B.
Starter was lovely mixed brecheta however disappointed with the ham on the pizza -just a personal quirk around texture. Not resteraunts fault however some parties were very loud. Spoiled the experience.
C. K.

Very high quality of lazania and pasta. And great view from the outside of the restaurant

Superb last night in Prima.
Visited with my girlfriend after she recommended I come and try the Salmone …
M. C.
Lovely little restaurant that was very busy but still delivered delicious food to our table in reasonable amount of time.
R. A. G.
Extremely good value lunchtime menu!
B. Y.
Had a lovely lunch here with my daughter the pasta was amazing and Claire had the vegetable lasagne which was lovely staff were friendly and didn't have to wait too long 😋 we'll be back x
J. E. O.
Nice food. cant complain. It was my birthday. I dont remember much more of the night haha but the lamb in red wine sauce was lovely 😋
F. M.
We went our for my birthday dinner and were surprised to find a really nice outdoor setup. The food was good, the waiters were polite. Both managers were extremely professional and accommodating, they moved us closer to the heaters as we were cold.
The only downside was that there were some drunk/rowdy customers, but even they were treated respectfully by the staff. I would definitely eat here again!
J. R. (. G.
Great food. Really really good food. Wine was a bit ordinary and there was a long wait for starters to turn up. But the food! The food was great!
S. W.
Food was beautiful really tasty, however our experience was spoilt by the position of the table which was near the door, on a very cold night making it extremely cold and drafty, a simple solution of a sheet of perspex could resolve this.
R. L.
Food was fine. Can make a better Stroganoff myself though
T. D.
One fault I dont like service charge added to bill, like to leave my own tip on table to reflect service
G. W.
This place was booked ahead for a crowd of 70ish to eat one Saturday. Food was pre-ordered. The staff were great, especially considering this group was in high spirits. There were several group bookings for stag/hen/birthdays. Food was served quickly and although my main was not hot enough for my liking this was quickly and cheerfully rectified. Not gourmet food but very tasty. It suited our needs, no fuss food in a great atmosphere and then move on to party the night away.
M. C.
Lovely meal in Prima. Staff were fab

We went as a group. We were seated in the back room stunning as its one of the arches of the bridge on dean Street.
Really good lunch time menu. Reasonably priced as well. We went for the 1/2 pizza and salad, pizza wasn't half a pizza it was a full plate size, we asked if they had brought the wrong one, no its the half size. You should see the full size we were told. Flipping eck it was a lot, with a nice side salad, really good as well.
Staff were really welcoming and friendly.
We will definitely be going back.
S. C.
The food was amazing , I highly suggest the sea bass and then after the cheese cake !!!! The staff were lovely and the background music was so so enjoyable , we walked out very satisfied
L. f.
Excellent dinning experience, a stunning room with ancient stone and a very old painting still visible after hundreds of year. Wondeful service and a very good Gin and tonic with Maliki Gin that I'd highly recomend and the dinner was perfect.
S. H.
This place is a hidden gem. Came to newcastle for training and discovered this restaurant. Thr staff are so welcoming and lovely and the food is great. Definetely would recommend giving the sea bass a try!
A. J.
Just an all round lovely place with amazing food
E. I.
Well, where do I start?
Firstly I have to say the staff are great and couldn't do more to help you, and the food itself is very nice.
Unfortunately though the atmosphere does not lend itself to relaxation. Firstly the music was very loud RnB/Club type which is completely unsuitable for an Italian restaurant. Couldn't hear ourselves think much less have a conversation. Sadly some of the clientele seemed to think it was necessary to chant loudly to parts of songs they liked, like they were in a club or something? No class at all. Someone else thought it appropriate to bring a DOG into a restaurant. It was better behaved than the people chanting but I was surprised this was allowed. The place has a new sort of side room down the street so they can fit more people in. It's got heaters but the outside bit is still freezing. You can't just put people outside in the UK and expect them not to be cold. It's not Greece! I also found this restaurant very pricey, even though the food is nice it's overpriced for what it is. Cocktails are £10. TEN POUNDS, for ice and some slugs of alcohol.
Used to really enjoy coming here but I'm going to have to look for something with more of a chilled atmosphere now.
Probably suitable for large groups rather than couples.
D. C.
Food , quality and quantity good ,service excellent, lovely old building inside
P. W.
Dropped in for lunch and both of us had the Express lunch of Pasta & a side. It was the day of our 30th wedding anniversary and couldn't have asked for a better light lunch. Superb tasting food, great service by the ladies present and what a WOW factor the part of the restaurant within the Tyne Bridge structure. We didn't sit in that part, only realised it was there when paying the bill. Next time we are in 'The Toon' we will visit again. Thanks for a lovely lunch.
A. B.
Very disappointed today we had ordered 2 Sunday lunches for delivery @ 13.30
I contacted the restaurant at 13.45 only to be informed the meals were ready & they were waiting on a taxi to deliver them, our food eventually arrived @ 14.15 and needed re heating as it was lukewarm, food was tasty enough but delivery rubbish. Strangely enough I ordered from here last week through Uber eats and the order was cancelled with no reason given, maybe that was a warning.
A. H.
We booked a table for 4, unfortunately it started to rain, but, the team swiftly moved us to a location that was fully covered. Food was delivered within a decent time, it was hot, tasty and the service was great! We had a slight issue with our bill, but once we brought that to the team members attention they rectified it and apologised... All in all a great experience 😁
J. B.
Excellent food, service and drinks. The 2 for 1 cocktails were very good value for money. We moved to another bar but should have stayed there.
M. M.
Can't beat prima. Had the best lasagne. Great prices and good atmosphere.
L. C.
Really good food as always ..no complaints at all.xx
c.
We have been here a few times but thoroughly enjoyed yesterday , our bottomless Prosecco Brunch was lovely!
Delicious food and outdoor setup was fab , outdoor heater and gorgeous lit up arch around side of building, great idea in current covid rules.
We will return
Many thanks to lovely staff x🙂

Temporary stationed at Fort Hood and this is BY FAR the best take out Italian I’ve ever had. Food was always scorching hot and delicious. My guys and I have order dozens of entrees and not one complaint about the food. I wish they had one of these back home!! The delivery staff was great. Food was delivered quickly and accurately. To top it off the driver told me this passed to that he understood we were not allowed to leave base but if we were to have any issues don’t hesitate to call him and they’d bring out more food!!!
I do have one tiny gripe but not enough to take stars away and that’s the take out flat ware is mighty flimsy and would recommend upgrading the quality. Out side of that. This place is perfect!!
t. w.
Very nice food and excellent service. Highly recommend. Mind you I asked for a quiet table and got the exact opposite. That was the only off putting thing. As I said food and service was 1st class...😊
V. A.
Very high quality of lazania and pasta. And great view from the outside of the restaurant

Great pizza, great location near the Tyne Bridge. Recommended!

One of the best Italian meals I have had in years, I had the seafood linguine. It was delicious and the staff were very friendly
P. W.
Great experience, staff wonderful, food fantastic, coffee good
J. F.
Excellent food. Service was friendly but a bit slow.
A. P.
Reasonable prices, great staff, nice place food was good too
R. A. G.
Extremely good value lunchtime menu!
S. C.
Arrived without a booking but the place wasn't too busy as it was late so got seated. Had linguine very tasty. Staff friendly.
C. L.
Pretty good food but not quite 5*. Great interior (especially in the arch) and location. Cocktails were average and 2-4-1 deal is not 2-4-1 unless every cocktail is £12+.
S. C.
Excellent service, very good food, the seafood pasta was delicious full of big juicy prawns and mussels, one of our party is Gluten Free, the choice for her was brilliant. We will return.
J. H.
The staff were really welcoming and kind, and the service was extremely quick. No more than 5 minutes and the food was lovely. Had a steak and it was cooked to my liking and the pizza also really nice as well as filling. Would highly recommend.
D. H.
Good food, lovely atmosphere, great staff and excellent value for money.
P. M.
Sat outside with a gorgeous view of the road and stone arch plastered with bird poo. Looked like a plasterers radio.
I ordered the creamy chicken and spicy salami pasta which didny include spicy salami. I was later told this was blitzed in the sauce which is not true. The pepper and parmesan came in cheap packets which gave me a warning that there is no love and care. Save yourself and walk up the hill to the next Italian with friendlier homely service
M. B.
Amazing quality of food.. waitress was friendly. Place was very clean will be returning again soon 😁
S. B.
fabulous soundings service food and wine . One of my regular haunts in town
E. O.
Most amazing and beautiful restaurant I ever been! Food taste delicious and working staff really nice! Every time you come in this place you feel very welcome and comfortable! Definitely recommend this place!
T. C.
Stopped here for lunch with my husband and young daughter. The restaurant is very beautiful and the food was great. The portions were huge, especially the kids meals. We were served by a gent named Abel who was very friendly and helpful with my daughter and prompt without being overbearing with his service
B. B.
Nice and friendly to Solo diners. Carbonara and Sticky Toffee pudding were to die for. Great food, great service, great value for money!
S. P.
Lovely Italian food and our dog was given food and drink 😁
C. A.
Good quality and fresh pizza and pasta
R. R.
First visit and cant understand why! It won't be the last. Excellent service from entering to leaving. We both tried a pizza plus a starter and they were excellent. What pizza we couldn't eat was boxed for us to take away. Good value for money and the house white wine was very pleasant. Definitely going back 😁
R.
Excellent Sunday lunch, reasonably priced for the quayside. Good atmosphere and service.
Y. R.
Excellent table setting looking onto the stone arch upstairs. Food was delicious, and waitress service very attentive. Would highly recommend.
w.
Excellent service. Food was delicious. 1 of the best Italian restaurants I've been to! Highly recommended.
K. P.
Really tasty food.
The service by Rachel was very good, really friendly and attentive.
Drinks not so good but perhaps that was down to choice.
M. A.
We decided to go here in the evening due to the very large crowds queuing to get in during the afternoon
Not disappointed but 2 or 3 items on the menu were unavailable including the starter Garlic Mushrooms
Nice food and location
A. E.
Fantastic food and amazing staff!
R. B.
Fantastic night! We came for a birthday! Our waitress Jess, looked after our every need, she was able to recommend food, and she was spot on with them recommendations! Service and food was incredible. We all ordered a mix of food, pizzas, pasta and steaks and everything was ideal.
J. M.
Nice food, pasta is filling, garlic bread was a bit stodgy, homemade chips excellent.
If you buy pasta this will fill you so maybe think whether you can eat the garlic bread.
o. b.
In the vaulted arches under Newcastle's iconic Tyne bridge. This Italian restaurant has a very authentic atmosphere. Kind of an outside inside vibe. Service was amazing. We were in a very large group and we didn't need to pre order our menu choices and still managed to get our food quickly. And it was spectacular
K. C.
First visit here and we were a large party. Seated on time and offered drinks and then ordered our food. The starter of garlic mushrooms was excellent and the chef’s chicken dish with hand cut chips was also exceptionally good. Will be returning soon.
L. L.
Lovely location.... under the arch of the railway bridge, the brick wall and arch is left exposed in the restaurant which is charming and the rumble of the train every now and again overhead never gets boring!! The staff in Prima were friendly and efficient. Our group was 17people including children, 4 of which were quite young and they could not have been more accommodating. Sometimes in restaurants with young children you can feel uncomfortable and in the way but not here. The food came quickly and tasted amazing. 10 out of 10 in all areas.
L. M.
Lovely food staff brillant very friendly .would recommend to family and friends
R.
Amazing food and brilliant staff. A smooth operation! Best pizza I ever had.
D. S. (.
Fabulous food and good, quick service even though it was busy.
D. K.
Excellent food plenty of space between customers very good staff one small thing service on a Sunday a little slower than normal ..And watch out for Bird poo as you enter entrance under the Bridge it really can spoil your night.....
S. C.
Over and beyond never tasted so good.
Still trying to figure which was better the food or the customer service. If you are a Italian food lover or just a food lover in general, make sure you visit this restaurant. Excellent!!!
J. W.
Outstanding food, fantastic staff and great atmosphere!
A. K.
Great Italian food at great prices. The mixed antipasto is an excellent starter for 2. Kids menu is varied and the 'make your own pizzas' are popular with my girls
M. T.
Really wanted to like this restaurant. Nice atmosphere, an exceptional drinks. Unfortunately that's where the good points end. There was no table checks to see if we were enjoying our food, which is a must in all restaurants, going on 15 years of restaurant experience. Ordered the crispy belly pork, to which the black pudding tasted old an towards the end of its shelf life, as for mains, well, had the surf an turf, steak was cooked slightly under, but enjoyable. However the prawns were like rubber, massively over cooked. Peppercorn sauce taste wise was spot on, just wish it wasnt had the consistency of water. So over all, very mixed opinion, some good some bad. Doubtful i would return.
L. S.
Made to feel very welcome. Lovely staff and tasty Sunday lunch.
r.
Food was very high quality, however service was disappointingly lacking. Whilst staff were polite, helpful and apologetic when things went wrong, we waited nearly an hour for our mains, after a mix up with our starters. A shame, as good food was let down by poor service.
R. S.
My wife and I had a mid week bottomless preseco brunch, food and service was amazing, your glass is always topped up regular. A must visit
M. P.
Good food, nice wine
T. H.
Lovely food at a reasonable price , outside really gets the sun if it's out so ideal for this current situation. Staff also very friendly and helpful .
P. A.
Nice location and atmosphere, friendly staff. Food however was overwhelmingly flavoured. In a too much sense. Too overpowering. We had a dish with pesto which was too oily and way too much pesto and I had a dish with chicken and sauce that was too salty. Pizza was ok.
Shame because I believe they are sure trying but it is just a little too much. 3 stars, it wasn't horrible but would probably not eat again
D. F.
I visited here with some of my girl friends over the Christmas period. The food and staff were amazing. I have to say my Carbonara was the best I've ever tasted. Great atmosphere and close to the buzz of the Quayside pubs. I would definitely recommend and will be back
J. B.
Beautiful restaurant, fabulous food and great, friendly service. Wasn't expecting the drama of the brilliantly lit railway arches, which just added to the ambience. Would highly recommend the tuna... Medium rare 🥰
G. E.
Our pizzas where absolutely deliciou, we also had cocktails which where two for one so can't argue with that. The ice cream brownie mix was also 5 stars. Staff very professional and friendly with a few jokes to make you feel comfortable
H. C.
Great value and amazing food
H. v. B.
The food is lovely, as are the staff, they go out of their way to make sure you have a lovely evening.
P. H.
Great service, fantastic menu and reasonably priced. It's why my friends and I return time and again.

Lovely restaurant, excellent very friendly, helpful staff and the food and service was first rate 👌
M. M.
Nice food and generous portion sizes. I was able to use my NHS discount on happy hour menu :)
A. L.
What a lovely experience. Rachel the waitress has one of the best i ever encountered in Newcastle. Big thanks Rachel from my family 😘😘👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
R. T.
Very nice restaurant, friendly and polite staff, lovely food. We had 2 fabulous meals here and a nice glass of pinot gresio (speltwrong I know) here. It was our first time there but we were pleasantly surprised by it. We will be going back again soon!
l. d.
Was in Newcastle for the weekend and was looking for lunch on the Sunday, can say this was an excellent choice, the staff were friendly, but the food for what we paid for it (two for £13.95) was lovely. My partner had calamari for starter and risotto for main, I had the baby ribs (scrummy) and the sea bass in lemon ( what, I don’t like lemon!) and it was one of the best meals we had had all weekend, and one of the cheapest, would definitely 110% recommend this place.
D. T.
Very enjoyable meal with friends. Restaurant was very busy on a typical Newcastle Saturday evening but service was spot on and food well cooked and very tasty. House red wine was spot on and overall an excellent experience. Would definitely return
F. N.
Amazing place. Food is so delicious
M. G.
Not my first visit here, came back as have always really enjoyed the meal.
Wide menu catering for most tastes.Very good food and decent selection of drinks. Prices are reasonable too and I think offers great value for money.
A. R.
Started to pop in here for lunch whilst at work and the express menu is a bargain, great food and service, can't beat it
M. D. V. B. P.
I went at lunchtime which is happy hour. Most pasta mains are just £7, and the starters are very big portions. You can eat a hearty 2course meal for under £13. However, be aware of spirit prices. Just a single vodka and cranberry was £4.75
A. B.
Waiter served us quickly didn't wait long for our pizzas lovely pizzas and a pasta dish which was tasty
A. B.
Go here nearly every week fantastic food and the very best staff always making it a nice night out and rory is a must great guy and makes it a pleasure to go to prima thanks again PRIMA 🙂👍
P. R.
Excellent service, very professional and quick - a special mention for our waitress Sophie. although all of the staff were very well trained. The food was also excellent and very reasonably priced. All in all a great place to go amongst an abundance of restaurants in this area of Newcastle and we'll definitely go there again on our next visit to the city
L. B.
Lovely, tasty Italian food, quick service and a very good menu and price. The staff were attentive and were very helpful. I look forward to returning again. Enjoyed the whole experience of dining here.
M. W.
Food is ok. My partner had s pizza which was quite nice however my salad was very salty and I couldn't eat it. There were smokers blocking the doorway too which was not nice to have to walk through. The staff are friendly.
K. W.
Food was edible. Service was average. Ordered a pizza that standardly comes without chilli and they brought what I ordered with extra chillies and asked if I was okay with it, but did change it when I said no I can't eat chilli. Still got charged for the extra chillies on the bill. Probably wouldn't return. But also not the worst I've been too. Painfully average restaurant
J. M.
Haven't been here for a good few years. Was as good as i remember. Food was fantastic will be coming back again but won't leave it as long next time.
J. S.
Excellent restaurant, nice meal, friendly staff and excellent atmosphere I really recommend. 5 Star ☺️
V. R.
Delicious pizza and very cold beer. The atmosphere was A+. The service was good. It could've been better. I enjoyed the music that was on while we ate.
s. m.
Food average, price expensive, service poor
L. P.
Prime is a great restaurant, food and ambiance is perfect for a night out . Geared towards couples and groups.
Services was fantastic all the staff were so nice.
I'll be back..
N. P.
Great place and great atmosphere. Food was high quality and kind of met the price. Unfortunately you often feel like you get more for that kind of money but I guess that's the grown up world now.
L. R.
The decor is a little old fashioned and I'm not keen on pictures of food in the window so I was a little sceptical at first. However, the food was lovely (we tried the nduja pizza, caesar salad, antipasto and potato skins) and the service was prompt enough, although a little abrupt from some of the staff members. A solid choice if you're down by the Quayside and don't fancy Pizza Express.
s. f.
Great food choices and fantastic meals.
b. r.
Fantastic choices great quality and value even better do gluten free and very accommodating with other allergens definitely be back
L. F.
Pleasant restaurant and good food. Service was a little slow but overall it was value for money.
E. P.
A great dining experience - we love this place. The food, staff and restaurant are always lovely. Food is piping hot and there is always something different on the specials board.
Don't be fooled by the exterior. Inside (at the back) is a great location.
E. H.
Great service, nice food, fantastic happy hour prices. Pizza is great, pasta nice and authentic Italian, risotto portions very generous. The chicken breast with peppercorn sauce is yummy. Simple food, nothing to complain about 👌
E. S. T.
Very nice dish ❤️☺️👍
c. c.
I ordered a Roman pizza, very good dough and really fresh ingredients, I finally found a place where they make a proper pizza. I will definitely be back
D. S.
Lunch deal at £6 still had good portion size. Excellent value and enjoyable. Drinks are expensive. Overall highly recommended and will use again.
S. A.
Lovely food, nice ambiance out back and lovely pint of Corona on tap!
M. D.
We were lucky to get a window seat to watch passers by.
A plus for me was gluten free pizza. Dairy free not so easy. Lots of cream.
A. S.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff even as a late meal, felt no rush to leave. Fantastic food.
D. Y.
We've been visiting here every Mothers day since our Grandaughter was 3 weeks old. She's now 8 and we wouldn't go anywhere else. The Manager is so friendly and takes time to speak to the children and is genuinely interested in her customers. My daughter has bought us tickets to see Swan Lake on May 18th and we've booked our lunch there before the show because they make sure the children are well looked after x thank you
M. W.
Lovely food, very nice people, amazing taste! 🍕🍷❤️
T. H.
Ate there with my daughter and thought we may be too late to eat it was getting near to 10 o'clock but they accommodated us. Food was excellent and the staff very helpful and pleasant. Would recommend.
J. M.
Lovely food, don't agree with service charge being put on the bill. Always tip for food and service but should be left up to the customer
C. N.
Went on a works Christmas party for bottomless prosecco. Wow. Great atmosphere and truly bottomless prosecco for 2 whole hours. Delicious food also. Great idea for a works do.
K. A.
Great atmosphere, tasty food, fast service
v. n.
The only issue we had was waiting for half an hour for a table because it was raining and most tables were not usable. Food was great though
R. H.
The food here was delicious and the staff were very friendly. There was another diner who was being very rude and disrespectful and the staff handled it amazingly. Definitely be back.
c. 1.
Delicious food. Good priced with lots of choice. Went there for my hen do and all the staff made us all feel welcome
s. s.
First I loved the location of the restaurant, its just under the bridge and share the bridge pillar as one of its wall which was pretty cool for me. Their interior setting and lighting was very good. Natural view of their wooden fire oven was good. When it comes to food based on my food I would say it was average, I had squid started and sea bass, starter was good but the main course was not the best. However I did enjoyed. Their mojita was just ice (common everywhere) but here it's literally ice nothing else. I would recommend this place, you will enjoy as its a good place for all ages and you can take ur Friends or gf/bf or you can also go with your executives.
J. C.
Decent service, and pizza was fine, but starter pretty hideous (chunks of oily, deep fried potatoes with bottle sauces passed off as potato skins), first draft beer was flat. Had way better for the money.
J. T.
Had a nice meal here sat under the railway arch. Really unusual place
J. J.
Second time here both times amazing. Our waitress Beth was so nice, attentive, sociable, made us feel welcome. the food was superb we had pork saltinboca . Tiramisu was to die for would definitely cum bak again.
M. B.
Lovely staff very good selection of gluten free choices even had gluten free garlic bread which I really enjoyed 😋😋
D. D.
The food was lovely I couldn't fault it However I won't be back again as a service charge if £4.25 was added to my bill. I thought this rude and extortionate. If I want to tip I will and it certainly wouldn't have been this much
M. R.
The food and service were excellent. The staff even brought out a cheesecake with candles in as it was my daughter's birthday. I've already reserved a table for another night.
A. W.
We eat here every time we come to Newcastle, amazing food and drink you can either eat in the front part looking out of the window or there is a back room that's made from part of the old arches it creates it's own atmosphere. The staff are always on hand and service is brilliant.
c. g.
This Italian is excellent well prepared and presented and good ingredients service good 5star 12 till 7 even better happy hour
m. h.
really loved this place it's right on the quay side so you can have some great food then go out for some drinks or night clubs, the decor is very nice and the staff very attentive. only downside is, it's very hard to find parking on a Saturday night it gets very busy book a table before hand to make sure you get a table
M. B.
Food was lovely and the wee guy serving was very cheery and friendly
L. S.
Good to have a goto Italian restaurant where you can grab a pint and a pizza, which is reliably good value for money.
Great staff, airey and comfortable surroundings and delicious food.
I've given 4 stars instead of 5 due to location. I know its something that's unavoidable but tackling that bloody bank back upto the city centre is annoying.
S. R. B.
Very good! We stopped here for some dinner before hitting the town on a stag do. Funky place on multiple levels, trendy style, food was tasty, service was great, price was alright. Overall very good!
J. S.
Great food. Great staff, friendly and very efficient.
A. G.
Fantastic food fantastic service as always if you want great food great service at fantastic prices don't pass this place by.. I have brought many clients here and it has never failed to impress five star all the way..
T. P.
Lovely food , great service and well worththe money, I had the brunch for £30 which was a 2 course meal and unlimited pink gin for 2 hours
A. R.
Very well located and decorated with a good atmosphere. I ordered the seafood linguine and the portion was quite small though. One of my friends got the lasagne and it was also quite small.
M. B.
Really great food at great prices!
S. L.
Overrated. Food was OK. Was pre ordered and we had the feeling of being rushed until they forgot to bring our deserts...for 1hr. When we passed the 2hr booking, staff started to be inconvenient. As I said, food was OK. Restaurant is overrated
J. B.
Delicious food and an excellent choice on the menu. Really friendly staff too. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Newcastle.
c. e.
Lovely place.celebrated birthday of friends.prices are reasonable.food delicious and staff very friendly.
H. W.
Christmas night out and considering the season can't really complain but I have a few pointers.
The chair I was given needed the pad fixing, the weave had split. I switched it for a spare table but feel I need to mention it.
Preordered from the grill and was given a side sauce which I didn't order and the waiter put it down, then I told him and he picked it up and then put it down as though he was unsure of whether to leave it there. But left it with me in the end.
P. F.
Starters came quick but when our pizzas came they were just say warm so we were a little disappointed
T. M.
A good Italian restaurant very helpful and polite staff. In a great location just under the high level bridge. They also have an excellent function room available for private party's. Well worth a visit
M. K.
The food is exquisite and the staffs are friendly. Food is always fresh
K. T.
We've been going to prima for years. It's a great little Italian restaurant. The servers are really helpful and friendly, the food is great and is pretty cheap too. We go there with our toddler and they're really accommodating
P. S.
If you can serve 26 people (albeit with a little notice) a starter and main, and that food (I had pork belly & a seafood pasta (really delish) receive zero complaints, that is no mean feet. Highly recommend for any size of social event from a date for you and your partner up. The restaurant is built under the rail bridge which you can actually see from inside the restaurant and is part of the experience, you hear the trains but only slightly.
K. H.
Great value lunch menu. Nice atmosphere and staff are lovely. Oh and the food we've had so far has been fab!
C. S.
Excellent Italian restaurant with many pizza and dishes costing only £6 during happy hour, which runs to 7pm most days. The restaurant has an interesting dining space within the railway viaduct that should not be missed!
S. D.
Food was nice. Service a little chaotic but that could be due to staff shortages
j. d.
14 of us visited yesterday for my daughters 30th birthday - topclass food, exceptional customer service and we all loved it! Thankyou so much - we will definitely be back soon xxx
J. E.
The lunch time deal at Prima is incredible. Pizza or pasta of your choosing with chips for £5. It tastes great as well! Well worth a visit for a quick tasty lunch!
S. B.
Really good food and the cocktails are second to none.
D. B.
This has to be one of the best Italian restaurants in Newcastle if not the northeast 👌 food has always been the best and the service is always the best. Set in a real good location for a meal out and a few drinks after
J. W.
Fabulous. Not very inviting from the outside but the food is awesome. Friendly staff.
M. G.
Slow service, VERY noisy from whatever was happening upstairs. Food was good, nothing amazing.
T. S.
Sitting outside is such a buzz on a busy night in the toon. Good food, decent prices, not too fancy
I. F.
Lovely restaurant which is built underneath the arch of the main railway bridge so if you get a table round the back you sit next to the exposed brick arch. I had the Quattro Formaggi pizza (Tomato, Mozzerella, Chicken, dolcelatte, parmesan and goats cheese and was absolutely delicious. The staff were very friendly and were all for me taking some 360 degree shots.
J. W.
Great Italian food in a casual setting. Usually do early bird offers in the week. Staff friendly. Situated on the buzzing quayside area. Good prices
S.
Top quality food lots of differnet offer as well always head to this place when in newcastle
D. S.
Excellent food quality, good size portions, great location for nearby bars & pubs. House white was nice and reasonably priced. Good service 👌
M. S.
Excellent food and great service. Very happy to accommodate group bookings. Christmas menu was good, they also served the normal menu.
K. E.
The lunch menu is very good! We were served so fast which was perfect as we were on our lunch break. Looking forward to going back.
A. A.
Serve one of my favourite dishes ’Rigatoni Genovese’ , it’s a lovely restaurant with a fantastic room to sit under the arch of the Tyne bridge. Staff are nice.
C. P.
Quick service, patient with our 2 year old who was very well behaved. Very good quality food. Very friendly service. Would recommend definitely.
A. L.
Fantastic experience. The best food ever served by amazing staff
m. c.
Lovely meal 🍴 nice atmosphere. Staff lovely especially Carolyn. Love eating here every time we come to the Toon.
R. B.
Visited close to Christmas with some friends, it was really nice but they wedged our group right in into a place where there shouldn't have been a table as lots of people were walking past, the food was your standard Italian food, but the waiter gave me free range on the parmesan, (lets just say they got none back lmao)
C. M.
£6 Express lunch menu is fab! "Small" pizza (which is actually quite large) with salad or fries always fresh, tasty and great value.
E. O.
Very friendly staff and the good was amazing, on top of that they have 50% pdf on all food:)
G. U.
Just ordered three Sunday lunches one chicken one belly pork and one beef. All absolutely delicious
Really recommend. Delivered by deliveroo
D. R.
I revisited Prima after an 18 month absence. I’d forgotten how good the place was. Food was so tasty, service was excellent. Can’t wait to go back once more.
M. T.
Quite pricey for a pizza restaurant.
A. P.
Great food and good value for money. My steak and pizza were both really nice and others in my group commented on their pasta dishes being very good.
L. R.
I've come here for years and it continues to be a top quality Italian. Fantastic building and staff team.
T. R.
This is one place in the world!!!!! I enjoyed my pizza.... Just trust me on this words please... And try out. Thank you so much for last night dinner to all the staff.
C. P.
Lovely meal and 241 cocktails. They need to offer fresh pamesan shavings rather than the dry pre grated stuff though its much nicer.
J. G.
Can't fault this place. Food was fab and we love the window seat. Service was great. 5* no problem
J. C.
I've eating numerous restaurants all over the UK and to be honest the seabass and king prawns here was probably one of the best I've ever had all credit to the chef and staff are amazing
