Had a fantastic meal here last week! As always staff were super attentive and the food was hot and tasted delicious! The manager came and had a little chat with us during service which was a nice touch considering how busy they were, on a weekend night! (I believe her name was Lucy?) But we never felt rushed and staff were checking on us regularly throughout our meal! Great example of thoughtful customer service.

We came here with our entire class of kids as part of a theatre royal experience. The food was great and it came out at the same time! The staff were really friendly and accommodating, especially around the dietary needs of the class (32 kids!). It was a really warm inviting atmosphere and we couldn't be happier with our time there. My daughter, Emily, recently came home from school/ festival at the Theatre / Pizza Express absolutely buzzing. She said one of the best parts of the day was getting to go to Pizza Express - where we've never been before. She described getting treated to a three course lunch! I couldn't believe this was true, so looked at the menu on your website. The children's meal is three courses and such good value for money. We will be coming again next month for a surprise birthday treat Emily, she loved it so much!

All great especially the service. My dessert was a huge disappointment though. I chose the new sticky toffee bundt cake which should be slightly denser & a bit more moist texture than a sponge cake. My dessert cake was flat, looked uncooked & like a paste. Not a bundt or any type of cake. Very disappointed. The item was removed from the bill, which was a nice gesture. Otherwise a good meal, great service.

Wow wow wow! What a brilliant morning our Year 2 class had at Pizza Express. The staff were absolutely brilliant with all the children and they loved learning about different Italian food. They all got to make their own pizzas and there was even one for the adults. The children loved their hats and aprons. Communication from the manager, Lucy, when booking was excellent. All in all a fantastic trip that the children (and adults) not only loved but got a lot out of to. Thank you! 🍕

We booked a table at this restaurant for lunch before visiting the theatre and were left feeling very happy. We were greeted by a very polite waiter called Sam who made us feel very welcome and comfortable with his courteous and attentive manner. Nothing was too much trouble. I recently worked as a volunteer for the Playhouse Festival at TRP. One of my jobs was to support schools groups travelling from TRP to pizza Express for food and back. There were so many children! I thought, how on earth is pizza express going to be able to deal with this... It was so smooth. I even got to relax and have a pizza myself. They let me take a pizza back to the theatre for Dani too. Honestly, really impressed, don't know how they did it.

For a while now, we are new owners of a smartphone and have been trying to come to grips with the PizzaExpress App. It isn't always that easy for us but after a little while we managed to log in to the WIFI etc. at PizzaExpress Plymouth Derry's Cross. Soon after settling ourselves in after arriving, we were enjoying our nice starter drinks of Birra Peroni Nastro Azzurro and a Classic Gin and Tonic, also, it was really nice that my wife was only given a few pieces of ice in her Gin (she's not too keen on ice). Following the relaxation of our pre-dinner drinks, Olives Marinate, Dough Balls, and Rustica Tomatoes we were examining the dishes on display on the menu, although we couldn't get it all to go straight onto the app, (we're not so young and not so tech-able). Fortunately, Erika helped us to come to terms with the PizzaExpress-app. Soon after that, we thoroughly enjoyed our selections of Pizza Leggera King Prawn and the not-so-thick but tastier Pizza Romana Zucchini Ricotta, lovely. Mary's wine with these choices was the tasty Soave. The helpful waitress - Erika - also tried to assist us with our difficulties with the smartphone app. whilst paying.

Great night at Pizza Express Plymouth. Very attentive and friendly staff. Food came out swiftly but with plenty of time to enjoy a chat and drink. Clearly a very busy night and although a table behind us had obviously been pre drinking and smashed 4 glasses, staff kept the table under control and the mood light. Me and my partner dined during half term… It was ever so busy and the staff were run off their feet. Could not of done enough for us, although clearly worked hard they still ensured we had a great service. Will be back!

Have been coming here for over 10 years for birthday meals with our children but think we'll give it a miss in future. No garlic prawns available for starter (apparently sold out) so opted for brushetta but this was poor. Small slab of dry dough with chopped dry mini cubes of what looked like tomato but had zero taste, few tiny pieces of red onion and 2 basil leaves and about half a teaspoon of green pesto. Very underwhelmed and disappointing as this used to be lovely previously. All 4 of us had pizzas which were OK but nothing wow really. My Fiorentina didn't have any garlic taste at all as it was meant to, and always has in the past as it has been one of my favourites so know what it used to taste like. Had to add lots of pepper, garlic and chilli oil to make it tasty - such a shame as had been looking forward to my birthday meal with the family. One of us wanted a Calzone but without the chilli but were told that these are not made fresh so cannot omit certain ingredients! Overall an OK meal but if we hadn't had the Tesco coupon to give us money off, would have felt it was not value for money any more as food quality not what it used to be unfortunately.

Was very quiet, suppose with being mid week so service fast and efficient. Clean and orderly and the pizza are good (particularly classic base). Bathrooms are down stairs so for disabled could be a problem, but once reached are clean and comfortable. All in all a good experience and would certainly return.

Decided on a take out pizza. Tried to use the app/website to order but got an 'unexpected error' so went in to order and collect. Restaurant was understaffed and they had stopped doing delivery orders hence why they had stopped the app from working. Order was taken efficiently and the pizzas were ready within 15 mins. They were really good pizzas, certainly the best we have had from a pizza express. Well done to the Plymouth Derry's Cross team.

It was good. Standard Pizza Express experience with friendly staff and a quaint store layout. Food was lovely and drinks were nice and cold. However, the store was empty with only 2 tables including ours. This in itself is fine. However, considering this, it did take quite a while for the drinks and food to arrive at our table. However, this shouldn't put someone off.

Although have had good experiences here on a regular basis in the past, this time not so spot on! The child s food has shrunken significantly! I understand there are financial issues but would have preferred to pay more or be notified by the staff that the child portions are now quite small. We would gladly have bought from the adult menu. Also the service was not so good...had to ask for cutlery and waited along time to be served, and it wasn't busy. Shame this time. Hopefully a temporary blip.

Food ok but nothing special. Prices quite high for what you get. Pizza had minimal toppings. Not good for a premium one at £14. A bit canteeny for my liking - typical large chain. Staff a little indifferent. One to avoid if possible.

Went along for a bite to eat on a Thursday evening late November. It was clear when we entered staff were few and far between. Our order was taken within 10 minutes of being there however it took 1 hour and 10 mins for our meal to be served 3 childrens and 2 adult pizza's. The pizza's were nice to eat but overall service was very slow which is a shame as it has put me off returning. The restaurant was about a 1/3 full at the time.

Booked to go here on 28th July before seeing Shrek at Royal Theatre for a treat. We were not disappointed. The service was great, the staff paid attention to detail and let us order a starter as a main meal for my mother with no problems. The best bit was when my son was fascinated watching the man behind the counter making the pizza's. The manager spotted his interest and invited him up to make some dough balls which were then served to us. My son loved it and it made the meal quite special. The food was lovely and my daughter was so impressed with her pizza she wanted to take photos! The other good bit was we never felt rushed by the staff even though by the time we left there were queues of people waiting to get in. It really was a superb evening. Thank you!
