Reviews of L'Osteria Southampton

The Pizza... So good! So Huge! When they say one can be shared between two people they mean it but hey means more for you for tomorrow's lunch. Pizza is a delicious thin base. Ingredients are fresh and tasty. Staff are friendly and helpful. Restaurant is clean and atmosphere is lovely. Perfect for if you craving some italian food. Desserts were delicious and refreshing. Perfect for a family meal or a romantic date
S. K.
Pizza was amazing! Great fresh ingredients! Also a nice touch, they brought out a tiramasu for my daughters birthday without us asking or saying anything! Staff were really top notch!
L. M.
We had the best service and the most yummy food here! We were made to feel welcome even though we had no booking and our waitress was so helpful and funny, we love her! The pizza was 18”!!! Epic! Pasta portions good too! Lovely view of the stone walls lit up at night with a gorgeous ambience inside. Great for a date night too 🤗 Thank-you! Xx
A. R.
Strongly recommend this place. We ordered pizzas, lasagne and ravioli. Food was served good and everything were soo tasty!
We had a nice suprice from one of the waitrose! We wnet there for a dinner to celebrate my sister birthday but we didn't mention anything to staff. When we were paying a bill the waitrose asked if we choose this place for some celebration so we explain that yes. She and her colleagues came back to us with a suprise, a piece of tiramisu and Happy Birthday wishes to my sister! It was really nice as we haven't asked for it.

We visited L'Osteria after our family visit to the cinema, it was busy but they were able to accommodate us. We were seated upstairs where there is a good deal more seating, more than appears from outside.
The service was friendly and attentive, without being overbearing. A big plus in my opinion.
The food was very nice. I'm a fussy eater, as is my daughter. My wife is not. There was something on the menu for everyone and pizza as a failsafe.
There was a nice atmosphere, a bit of background music but nothing that makes you have to raise your voice for a conversation.
A very pleasant first visit to this restaurant, I will be returning in the future.
O. F.
The pizzas are HUUUGE, very authentic and very tasty.
The staff were super busy as it was packed, however very attentive and friendly.
It was my friends birthday which I told a waitress, they brought her out a little tiramisu with a candle which was a really nice touch.

I have visited L’osteria a lot, and I can confidently say that this is my favourite Italian restaurant. Every time, staff has always greeted us nicely, the service is quick, the environment, including the toilets, are clean and very rustic. I admired the chef in the background sieving the dough, it was very mesmerising and satisfying. The food was delicious and always top notch, left satisfied; I had the bbq chicken pizza and lasagna. The staff were very accommodating to our needs and served us promptly, made sure we were in check. [Images taken on different visits]

I’ve eaten here loads of times and have never had a bad experience!!
Pizzas are amazing!! And great service even when it’s busy which is most of the time. Love coming here for a treat and the restaurant is always lovely and clean. Will always come back and always recommend to friends and family.

Popped in here for a child free lunch with a friend on a Saturday. We booked a table for 2 and went to bar while the table was readied. We had just started our prosecco when our table was available. We ordered a pizza each and a green salad to share . The pizzas are large and tasty and the salad was more than enough to share. Our server was lovely and all the staff were polite . The place in whole is immaculate. Not the cheapest pizzas but this place is not a greasy spoon cafe , so price is suitable for quality of food and ambience.

Lovely service,nice staff
Didn't have to wait to long for food, and the open kitchen meant you could watch the staff prepare the food
a. d.
Refreshingly different vibe to other restaurants. Really light pizza base means you don't feel like you've eaten the world. Service was simple and fuss free. Also learn Italian phrases while you use the WC.
F. O.
Had diner here with the kids. Didn't make a reservation but we were welcomed anyway. We ordered the antipasti, two times, one would have been enough because the kids didn't eat much of it. It was oke, not brilliant.
The pizzas were HUGE, like absolute units. The dough was really good and the toppings were fine. Obviously could we not finish the pizzas so the staff gave us a box to take the rest home.
The food was fine, but the service was absolutely outstanding. Very friendly waiters, quick to help. The kids went to take a closer look at the kitchen because you could see the man making the pizzas and then the got invited behind the counter. They loved it. I honestly didn't expect briljant service because of the scale and location of the restaurant, so they surprised us in a good way! Thank you!
C. E.
Visited the restaurant on Sunday for lunch with a friend.
Good reinterpretation of Italian cuisine.
The waitresses were lovely and the service great.
The man who seemed to be the manager was too loud and spent most of his time calling people over rather than walking over to them.
Good experience in general.
J. A.
Hi the reason I gave you 4 stars not 5.
Told that we would only be allowed 1 hrs 30 mins at the table, as it was it got less busy we stayed long enough so that wasn't an issue. It is a very noisy atmosphere which is difficult for me to engage in conversation with my guests.
Note the pizzas and pasta dish we had were superb.
The staff lovely attentive without crowding. Smiley without falseness
Would I go again most definitely one of the best pizzas I e eaten outside of Italy.
See you next time I'm.in Southampton
N. C.
Nice big pizza on a very thin base, the cappriciosa was good but the salami one less so. It seems strange not having larger plates when you have such large pizzas and half of it is hanging over the side. I found the music to be a bit banging for 6pm but what I took exception to was being told I" must be patient "- when I asked where my drink was when the other three in my group had received theirs five minutes before. You don't talk to customers like that!
J. F.
Very nice italian influenced restaurant. My pizza was massive. I only managed about half. Great buzzing atmosphere also
G. D.
Impressive sized pizza with very thin crusty bases let down by bland ingredients and tasteless toppings. We arrived late on bank holiday Monday and the two pizzas we wanted were not available; service was friendly but slow, we asked for more tap water with our meal but it didn’t turn up. The pizza arrived almost an hour after sitting down and was cold within five mins of arriving. The bbq had a good caramelised sweet onion flavour; the capricciosa had very little flavour; even the tomato base was bland. I wouldn’t recommend the pizza in this place at all.
K. H.
Italian food in the heart of the city.superb dining experience, excellent food, great atmosphere, attentive and knowledgeable waiting team . even the washrooms were clean bright and clean smelling.
Best of all,the prices are ridiculously low for the quality and quantity.
W. L.
Ordered the BBQ pizza which was tasty, the pasta though was way too hard to eat for kids, i would even suggest it was possibly undercooked. The staff were attentive and they had coloured pencils for the kids. On leaving one waiter chased us to give my son a wooden yo-yo which I thought was a nice touch. The atmosphere is a little loud for young children but otherwise ok.
E. K.
We've been a few times before a couple of years back but felt the food was nowhere near as good. The pizzas were bland little falvour in the sauce, dough or toppings. Service was polite but no offer of additional drinks, oils or pepper etc all of which we wanted but couldn't grab anyone to ask and no one came to check if meal was ok. Wouldn't be rushing back which is a shame as used to really rate it here.
I. T.
Really good restaurant, with friendly and attentive staff. Managed to fit us in, even though they were very busy. Pizzas a huge, but lovely. Would visit again.
N. F.
Fantastic staff, really friendly. There were a lot of people coming and going but this was managed brilliantly and service never dropped.
Food = outstanding. Best pizza in Hampshire, let alone Southampton! Huge portions, great taste, great quality!
v. o.
First time visit, staff very accommodating, pasta was delicious very authentic, although it came with a spoon. Pizza's are gigantic. Will definitely come back and recommend to my friends
G. T.
Food is decent, but sadly let down by the service. Staff seemed dis-interested, took about 30 minutes to get water after being seated, and was billed for a double spirit when only a single delivered, after asking for a double and explaining the drink 3 separate times..
J. K.
Absolutely enormous pizzas - lots of choice, options to customise your pizza, and a good selection of specials
A. E.
Nice selection of big pizzas and pasta. The restaurant is on two floors and can accommodate big groups.
C. R.
Took the family, had a wonderful time, the food was amazing the grandchildrens choice they loved it .
B.
Spicy prawn pasta, it just lacked flavour for me. Want rich suace, it was mild. Usually prawn, lobster, crab chilli dishes have bags of flavour. It was ok, not great. Kids pasta and pizza were good though. So 4 stars is fair.
J. G.
Pizza was nice but service was pretty slow on the drinks, also had a drink missing from order (only 3 of us so wasn't a big order) when we asked she said she would get it, and she did, 20 mins later?
S. B.
We visited for the first time before heading to a concert. It was very busy but staff were friendly and efficient. Found it a bit too noisy though. Food was good.
A. S.
Very nice, and lovely food. Need to turn the music down a bit, and cut back on the shouting in the kitchen area. Otherwise a very pleasant trip, also my first time, and hopefully many more 👍
J. K.
Very cosy place and very good service.
The pizzas are very tasty with a thin base and the size is very big, very good price for the quality. The tortellini and risotto ai funghi its amazing. I really raccommande this place if you are looking to eat Italian food in Southampton
L. K.
First time visit with a family of 4. We all had pizza and wow what a pizza it was. Went for half and half and the pizza base has to be the best I have had. Perfectly cooked thin and wow the taste was amazing. Great prices too!
Will definitely be back
J. e.
Came today for my daughter's birthday must say pizzas are lovely and loads of it lol...then they sang happy birthday and she had a bit of tiramasi omg that tastes so lovely best I've ever had Thankyou for being so lovely to her today will be defiantly coming back
j. g.
Pizza is a big 18", but only a few mm thick, crispy like a cracker, and not much cheese, pretty bland, 50% of it left on plate as un-topped crisp crust. Kids pizza's were much better, thicker, softer, more cheese, and had a nice taste. Pasta was really nice, If I went again I would choose a kids pizza and a pasta, ignoring the big novelty pizza, or go to franco manca!
V. M.
L’osteria is located on a prime location close to the West Q shopping Centre and cinemas. With an open kitchen and contemporary style it offers a pleasant experience.
I had lunch with family on a Saturday and it was a bit busy and noisy but not a deal breaker. The food was very good and the staff was always there to make sure everything was to our liking. I am looking forward to trying it out on a quieter evening.
I would definitely recommend.
On a second visit, Saturday afternoon with no reservation the place was very busy. We were offered to wait by the bar. That made the 20 minute wait for a table pleasant.
We sat outside, most of the tables are for two, so expect a more quiet and romantic mood. Warm too thanks to outdoor heaters cleverly fitted above the table. In fact sitting outside I lost the sense of time and totally forgot how busy it was inside.
On a final note, the Tiramisú that we had was very good. It was a pity that the expresso that I ordered took too long. I had to cancel that order as we had to leave.
Laura, the waitress assigned to our table was super friendly and very professional, was making sure everything was to our liking.
Why I haven’t given a 5 star?
1 - At the bar I ordered a Martini Rossi on the rocks. A very simple drink to make but because it was not on the bar menu it was a no.
2 - Shame that expresso took so long!
Still a most recommend place.
M. S.
Very nice, modern Italian restaurant with plenty of seating areas. We sat upstairs which was good for us but the views spoilt by endless scaffolding. The pizzas are huge and really meant for sharing, they also do half and half if you prefer.A good choice of food and drink. Its set in a huge complex with other restaurants and also a cinema.Shame about the scaffold.

L'Osteria
The Best Italian Restaurant in Southampton
5 Star services and like allways ... i'll be back
Maria and Kasha were brilliant in providing best services for their customers.. ...what a lovely day with lovely wine and food. Thank You
M. W.
BEST PIZZA EVER. These pizzas were amazing, pricing was a little high but it’s worth it when eating these bad boys. The cheese and the aubergine was delicious and there was a wide variety selection of choices of pizza. Also had pasta on the menu.
M. C.
Amazing service, friendly staff, and outstanding food. Not to mention their great Covid procedures they have in place which makes it so easy to get seated safely and quickly. Can't review without saying their pizzas are to die for too!
Z. A.
I will definitely go here again, the staff in this bar/restaurant was very helpful, the place was clean vibrant and cosy. The food was out of this world. I have never had so tasty pizzas anywhere else in the UK. The toilets were very modern and clean too.
D. T.
Delicious food, starters, main meal & dessert 😊👍excellent from start to finish
Brilliant friendly service, with very good covid restrictions in place & social distancing, thank you
K. R.
Brilliant restaurant with massive pizzas, topping was slightly thin but still very good
X. W.
The most delicious pizza I enjoyed in the UK! Great size, topping and crust. Craft beer also fantastic! Will be unique and fancy scent in my Southampton memory.
M. M.
Very nice place.
Staff is nice. Some girls a bit moody, but good overall.
Average price for a pizza or pasta and a drink, between 10 and 15£
Great to have pistachios to go along with a drink while waiting to be seated or just have a drink.
Great mushroom risotto.
Pizzas, are really big but could be a bit tastier and there could also be a bigger base to eat them from, instead of the small plate. I know it might get most of the table's space, but...
J. H.
Ate out here for my birthday meal. Food was lovely, service is what let this place down. Sadly service was quite slow from our server and I ended up waiting 20 minutes for a chocolate souffle... Which was a small lava cake. It was lovely- but not what I was expecting when I ordered. A souffle is a souffle! Prices are also reasonable, for 2 pizzas, 2 drinks, a pudding and a coffee it came to just over £40. Would consider returning to see if our service experience was a one off.
Nice ambience to the restaurant, although lighting was an issue when reading the menu where we sat!
E. B.
Huge portions but good food - order less than you expect. Blue light card discount is only 2%.
A. D. R.
The restaurant is in a good location. We have chosen it to eat pizza. Pizzas are large and thin. Mostly, you can share one pizza in two people. The service was a bit slow to get the dessert. Unfortunately, there's no lift to the second floor.
P. W.
What can you say. HUGE pizzas that are really nice. And happy for you to take home spare. Acceptably busy given the location, but may want to avoid the whole of town if that's a understandable worry for you.
L. 2.
Absolutely fantastic and lovely food! Staff were friendly even though it was busy
M. F.
We visited with two small children about 5pm and it was excellent. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. They were great with the kids. Everything was made on site and the Pizza was outstanding. The tortellini was spot on. Nero d’Avola wine was perfect. The kitchen is open and chef was super happy to show the kids how the Pizza was made :)) For first time visitors to Southampton we couldn’t have chosen a better restaurant!
S.
Food and service was brilliant great price and pizzas are the best iv ever had will be returning when back in Southampton
M. M.
Fantastic service. Food is outstanding.
First time we've order 1 pizza each - but it was way to big for one person, luckily half of it was nicely packed for us. Second time we just ordered 1 pizza where both of us could select what they wanted on their half. Also, great beer and desert.
M. B.
Pizza was amazing, absolutely huge and super tasty! Drinks were good but slightly on the pricey side but I didn't mind. Just really good food and a great atmosphere!
k.
I have been here countless times. The pizza has always been tasty and filling and the tortellonni have always been amazing here. The staff are really friendly and everything is modern and clean. Sometimes there is a long wait but it's all worth it for the incredible food. I love the view of the kitchen where you can see the cooks working extremely hard on catering at this restaurant. It is where I go for Italian food and never had a bad experience.
M. D.
You'll love it here if you like huge pizzas with nice thin bases. Great value and there's usually more than enough food to take some home too! Good atmosphere on a Saturday night. It's worth booking online at busier times in order to get a table.
J. B.
Very tasty. It's possible to sit outside in January
C. L.
Lovely tasty meal at L’Osteria restaurant 😊 make sure you are hungry as large plates! Staff very friendly and welcoming….. will definitely eat here again 😊
S. B.
Very pleasant and enjoyable dining experience 👌 Pizzas are LARGE so think about sharing if you want a dessert 😋 A decent varied menu of authentic and modern interpretations. Our waitress was friendly and personable well done 👏 four very full and satisfied diners.
C. K.
The Biggest Pizza I've found in Southampton. Massive variety and nicely made. Service is good, can slow down when busier. Did get billed twice for drinks however - make sure you double check your receipt.
J.
HUGE, yummy pizza, prompt service from start to finish by friendly staff
G. P.
Lively, bubbly atmosphere. Pizzas so big they overlap the large dinner plate they are served on. Pasta cooked to perfection. Whole restaurant runs like a well oiled machine with friendly staff.
C. H.
The spaghetti carbonara is amazing and the place has a very nice atmosphere also the staff are very pleasant
j. r.
LOVE THIS PLACE!! Pizzas are huge! I had the spaghetti bolognese and it was DELICIOUS!! Great portion sizes! Not expensive either! I recommend to everyone now! Cant wait to go back!
r. l.
Fantastic food ... large servings mean you will not go hungry and to cap it all a very good price .. you can't go wrong
A. G. G.
It was a nice place to dine with family. Different variety of foods. If you like asian foods i recommend this place.
C. S.
Best pizza ever!! Went for lunch with a friend and shared a pizza. It was so good I decided to book for my birthday meal and it didn't disappoint. The pizzas are HUGE and seriously yummy!! Can't wait to go again 😊
Y. W.
Nice food, very large pizzas. Get a doggy bag if you want to take the rest home.
J. D.
Lovely atmosphere. Pleasant and friendly staff. Good service. Massive Pizza!!!
E. B.
Very Friendly and helpful staff, amazing food and generous portions.
T. M.
We had an amazing meal here, the service was very good and family friendly.will absolutely be going again
B. L.
The pizza is massive. One pizza for two people. The service is ok, you need to be proactive in getting there attention, but they are quick and effective after that.
The music as I read was slightly off for an Italian restaurant, but did not harm the atmosphere.
T. A. h.
2022 review. We stopped here for a quick pizza. The pizza was so big we could share it between two. Very tasty indeed. Still a noisy place, but not really a problem.
2019 ..food is tasty but it is a crowded venue aimed at families and young groups of people so not really my thing but I did enjoy my spaghetti.
F. A. B.
The best Italian I tried in Southampton. Good quality of the food and good price. Definitely a place to try.
M. Z.
The food was excellent and the beer was good. The Staff was friendy and very nice! We were waiting for the food for some time, however, the atmosphere was really good.
A. F.
Lovely food. Staff were helpful. Decor was stunning. Atmosphere was good. Only down side was bar orders and the wait. More staff needed at bar without question.
S. W.
Delicious pizza 🍕 and great service
J. G.
Great food, great atmosphere, lovely friendly staff and good value for money. Im hooked and regularly visit.
D. B.
The food was absolutely fantastic. J had a pizza this thing was huge but easily the best pizza I have ever had. Definitely the place to go in Southampton
G. G.
Pizza was huge and atmosphere was lovely. Clean and lively staff
M. N.
Food should be better. My pizza was massive but I found only couple prawns on it with big gaps between. It didn't look right and it didn't taste like it should. Service was very good.
s. w.
We always go here on Xmas eve, it's a nice cozy atmosphere, the staff are amazing and were having fun whilst working, it's a very happy place, not sure I would be so happy working Xmas eve .., oh, and the food is lovely too 😋 Xx, my son loves the great big pizza and they doggy bag it for you to take home if you don't eat it all, win win
S. G.
Great time, great pizza.... Just be prepared for how big they are. They are too big for the plate. If you don't manage to finish it they will arrange for a doggie bag.
G. S.
Brilliant Pizza, massive and very well priced. Drinks are pricey but it even out against the food.
M. L.
Went here with my wife (and kids) for her birthday - food was great as usual and service was quick and efficient.
K. N.
Delicious Food, amazing staff. Loved the hospitality. My go-to place from now.
G. O.
Great location at the entrance of Westquay Dine. Good Italian menu and a varied drinks menu too. Smart interior and always popular.
Y. R.
Great pizzas , proper thun crust how Italian pizza should be. Been back multiple times and they're always good.
L. T.
Amazing Pizza, amazing prices, amazing vibe inside & out! And even though it's a pretty big restaurant, our food took no time at all! The bathroom has you learning Italian and the staff were incredibly thoughtful and nice.
C. L.
Probably the best pizza you'll ever have. Although we booked a table for 11, only had 9 spaces and they had to ask another couple to finish their drinks at the bar, this made us all feel very uncomfortable
A. W.
Repeat customers, love the food at affordable prices. Great service.
C. F.
Absolutely enormous pizza which tastes good at a good price. Music was slightly too loud and the service at the start was a little confusing, but generally very pleased.
t. s.
Vibrant and noisy environment ideal for the youngsters but not if you want a quiet meal. Food was ok the pizzas were huge. If you enjoy the nightlife then you'll like this place.
J. N.
Been here several times in the past and I'm never disappointed. Good atmosphere with really reasonable prices for great quality food and a friendly staff experience. Would recommend. Their pizzas are monstrous in size but super morish 😅.
M. M.
Great place for quick lunch but also for special occasion meal. Tasty food, friendly staff.
D. V. H.
Great atmosphere and amazing staff, very friendly and happy. They were always happy to have a conversation or a joke. Only reason for one less star is they gave me the wrong pizza, but that was so delicious I ate it anyway! A must go back!
L. G.
Had a lovely meal here we did book beforehand as it was very busy, staff were great
G. C.
The pizza was fantastic, me And my partner we love that evening, amd the staff was so lovely.. thank you
A. L.
Food is delicious! My favourite is Panzerotti Spinachi!
J. H.
The food here is absolutely beautiful and great service as well will definitely be going again
K. R.
So I've been trying a lot of pizza places in Southampton the very dear to the cheapest but this one is a funny one because the place the service and oh my god the pizza was sooooooo good I thought the Bill would of been as big as I thought it would be but it wasn't . Well put it this way I felt that guilty I had to give a good tip to help my guilt but still worth every penny thanks the the staff and the chief
L. F.
Wonderful cocktails, mocktails and food. Staff are lovely too. Bit pricey but great night out and meeting place
J. O.
This has become the favourite restaurant of my partner and i. Lovely friendly italian atmosphere. Good service and with the most delicious very large pizzas ever. Also caters very well for those with small appetite.
C. B.
Very good quality for price. Staff is very kind and quick! Be 'careful', they make huuuge pizzas!! I had Risotto Pasta (v) this time, I would definately recommend! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
C. P.
Our table was hidden away beside the stairs, very dark and not very inviting. The lasagna is different, very different. But it was the best lasagna, I've ever had! Would go again just for the lasagna, but would insist on a decent table.
P. P.
Had another fantastic meal there today, under busier conditions since it’s a bank holiday. The food was top quality as the service was outstanding. A special mention to Freya as she was completely uplifting, positive, friendly and chatty. I couldn’t of asked for better from any restaurant.
m. m.
Brilliant night out, good food, good service & under current circumstances very good value for money !!
A. W.
It was our first time to L’Osteria and first post lockdown meal (what can be better?). The staff were warm and welcoming and i was very impressed with the organisation. Host girl was extremely lovely, we asked for sunny table and she managed to fulfill our request. She came back to us latest find out if we were happy with table! Table are cleaned and service so good and fast. Onto the food - absolutely divine. I and my friend big fans of Italian cuisine, and L’Osteria defo will be our favourite pizza&pasta place in Hampshire after this perfect Saturday. Overall, a memorable evening and I’m already looking forward to our next visit. Xxx
M. E.
Really delicious food with lots of options available. Friendly and helpful waitress who I can't fault.
Only negative is despite booking in advance we were seated by a staff only door that was used multiple times during our visit meaning we had to sit diagonally so we weren't blocking the door.
c. b.
Great food, even better service. Pizzas are gigantic, so don't order a starter
J. S.
Booked in advance and they gave us a pretty disappointing table, in between some other people, real close too. Asked if we could change table, and they did just that. great service and it's good to know the food is great in both Bristol and Southampton, shame the upstairs balcony area wasn't open, would've loved the view from up there.
K. L.
Very nice atmosphere, nice food, large portions and great service. I would have given it 5 stars if the bill had been correct!!
s. s.
We went to the restaurant for the first time. We ordered Bolognese pasta & quinoa salad with garlic pizza. Pasta and salad was so good fresh and tasty but garlic pizza was not in the same level. Service was warm and friendly.
D.
Food was fantastic as always and couldn't ever fault. Unfortunately the service let it down yesterday and it would have been lower had it not been for the top notch food.
Largest issue was having to ask for a new glass because it wasn't clean, given covid I find this pretty concerning.
Also though:
- The floor manager seemed really angry as she talked down to the staff and stormed around which isn't pleasant to be around when having a meal
- It took a long time to get our order taken
- Had to ask for a plate to be able to eat and also request pepper and chilli oil as the server dropped the food at the table and ran off
The only thing I can say was it was very busy, however I'm of the opinion that if you can't serve the volume of customers safely and well then shouldn't let as many customers in.
S. R.
Me and my partner love going here for a dinner out, the atmosphere is always brilliant and the food is just amazing. I'm fussy and they cater for my taste perfectly and the pizzas are just crazy
L. G.
Food was amazing couldn't fault it, service fairly poor. Feel really disappointed
F. A.
The pizza size is a sight to behold. You could've plugged every hole in the Titanic using just one. Bloody delicious food, great price when you see how much you get!
T. J.
Busy and lively Italian restaurant in Southampton city centre, quick polite attentive service and generous sized authentic portions that taste great, recommended.
S.
Food was delicious, pizzas are giant, service once we were sat was brilliant however the hostess was not very helpful.
m. I. w.
Great food and great service nothing was too much trouble.
The pasta very tasty and my girlfriend enjoyed her special pizza.
The dessert (panna cotta) was just perfect nice and light.
A. S.
One of the best pizza I ever had. I loved the fact that I could have it with two different toppings. Would totally recommend.
T. C.
Stopped by for meal with partner.
All clean and tidy, pretty well presented with prices par for the course.
On the downside we were incorrectly delivered - twice - with the wrong meals being prepared. Under pressure different staff were arriving at the wrong tables with food.
This has to be a management issue.
Pity since food itself was fine for such a venue. Reminded me a little of Pizza Express when just opened.
In fairness, I was given a free dessert!
S. W.
Very large pizzas, excellent staff!
S. R.
Customer service was excellent. I had the carbonara, which was creamy and tasty, and a mango spritzer, which tasted somewhat of sweeteners, which was the only disappointment. I would have liked to have seen more vegetarian pasta options, like a carbonara but with mushrooms instead of bacon.
L. H.
Lovely Italian, reasonably priced good food and helpful staff
A. p.
Absolutely brilliant. Great food, great service and 1 huge pizza. Will be back
S. W.
Food was good ,service a bit slow ,reasonably priced ,clean and nice atmosphere

Great pizza and customer service for birthday lunch 🥳
Went to Southampton and took the boys here on a whim for lunch; what a good choice it turned out to be! We all ordered pizza and the bases were so thin, fresh and tasty too. The sizes were gargantuan.... I managed 2/3 of mine and was full! Great staff service whilst ensuring covid19 precautions sensibly. Lovely surprise gesture for our elder son celebrating his birthday today too. We will definitely be returning and from the packed tables it seems word has already got put that this place is worth visiting. Good value for money and best pizza we have had since visiting Italy 2 years ago.
L.
Visited for eat out to help out, make sure you book a table online and still arrive 30mins beforehand as it's popular. Staff were helpful, checking our booking, taking our temperature etc, asking for preference to sit.
Full menu available and a great selection of pizzas and pasta dishes. The pizzas are massive! Easily shareable between 2 with a couple of sides, or try to finish it on your own and take home the leftovers in a doggy bag.
Friendly staff are zipping between their tables providing a speedy and cheerful service.
Will definitely be going there again.
C. H.
Amazing pizza, service 👌👌❤️
R. M.
Ok - pizza was decent. Service was slow.
P. L.
Best Pizza I ever had in England, very good value for money..and friendly atmosphere.
Romano from Italy
A. B.
I booked a table with my daughter on 15th August, the service was fantastic and all staff members were very polite.
Food was really nice and well worth the money.
Will visit again.
R. C.
Really impressed with this place. Very Covid safe, but the staff and enormous pizzas were the stars of the show. Great food and stylish restaurant. We will be back !! PS - don't be afraid to ask for a doggy bag....
H. “. B.
Always love L'osteria. The huge pizzas are amazing. They're are lighter than they look and packed with flavour. Definitely recommend it !
A. H.
Pizzas huge! Portion is enough for 2 people. Very tasty. Chocolate soufflé was more a lava cake. Was very delicious. Waiters and waitresses have a tendency to slam glasses onto table. Don't think it was personal but a clear observation. We went twice and same thing happened.
A. P.
If having a pizza and haven't been before, share one with a friend, they are massive and very tasty.
g. m.
Very nice meal and very good cocktails. Good value for money.
J. O.
Fabulous meal and excellent service. Reasonable prices too. Just beware... The pizzas are HUGE and delicious.
S. G.
Huge. Pizza. Need I say more? Lovely people, even though it was rammed for eat out to help out at lunchtime, we still felt cared for by our waitress. The pizza was immense, but thin, crispy and delicious! Inhaled the whole thing! Would definitely return frequently if I lived closer!
J. N.
Well this is my first visit to this place, it was recommended by my wife who loves Italian food. We had meals from the specials menu and I thought the food was delicious! The pasta was cooked well and I had the fennel sausage which was so flavourful. Despite being quite busy the service was excellent and the restaurant looked clean and well presented. I would definitely come back again. I would say this is good for a quick bite or lunch but I would also add it would make a nice place for an evening meal.
C. D.
Good restaurant, shame about the booking system.
Staying in Southampton for one night. Our girls always crave a good spag bol. So went online, anticipating it to be busy and booked L’Osteria. Received email reply that states “If we do not respond to this email, please consider your request as confirmed.” Seemed an odd way to operate, but if that’s their system 🤷🏻♂️
Arrived to find people queuing for tables and a waiting list. When it was our turn, there was no record of our booking! Eventually, the very polite and efficient lady on the entrance found my “request for a table” that should have been replied to. I pointed out that the email specifically says we would only get a reply if there was a problem. But apparently that’s not the system. Each booking request should be acknowledged by a confirmation email. Not what you expect from the info given.
We were found a table very quickly, the pizzas are immense and delicious, the service was quick and friendly and efficient and the girls gave high marks to the spag bol. So once inside, everything was good (except the noise levels were very high, but that’s ok because it was Saturday night). Shame that the booking system isn’t fit for purpose!
S. J.
Absolutely love this place. The staff are so attentive and friendly. We come with our children and they are treated like princesses. The food is amazing and so cheap, that you feel that you are robbing them. The pizza sizes are huge and delicious.
p. b.
Good food and excellent service. Not expensive. Temp tested on entry and precleaned table. Monster pizza which I had to take part home. Shame it was a little cold and windy. Plenty people braving the weather to eat. On my list to visit again soon
E. L.
The food is delicious and the pizza pies are enormous! Their pizzas are thin crust and perfectly crispy. As a New Yorker, I highly approve! Definitely plan on sharing unless you want to bring some home. Ambiance is cozy and service was friendly and quick. Went for lunch and we were in and out in less than an hour which was perfect. Would definitely highly recommend!
G. C.
Very nice food, big portion and good quality. Good vibes and helpful staff!
J. W.
Tasty food and good value for money. Friendly staff and overall a great experience.
D. M.
It would have been 5 stars if the waitress had worn a mask.
The food was good, the place was good, the waitress was efficient and friendly. In normal time this would have been great
Taking our temperatures and contact details at the door, led me to believe this was going to be a safe experience, but then the waitress stood very close without a mask and it became the most risky thing I've done since corvid began.
D. L.
The pizzas are always fantastic on a lovely Italian thin crust and the pastas are exceptionally well prepared. The only thing that could improve is the staff could seem like they care a little bit more.
C. C.
Wonderful place, very good value. Staff are lovely and the pizzas are enormous!
D. F.
Really well designed, lovely friendly staff as well, they have a modest selection of wines but reasonably priced and the pasta dishes are delicious, their pizzas are ridiculously big and come on a plate that is far to small for them but I believe that is part of the novelty, overall experience was good and lunch for 2 with a shared starter and 2 glasses of wine came to around £50
P. P.
Ok food. Good service. £26 was the cheapest bottle of red wine on the list.
O. K.
Huge portions, tasty food and heaters for outside dining so it doesn’t feel so cold! The dough sticks with garlic butter were amazing despite not being on menu.
C. J.
The pizzas were great, however I probably wouldn't go if it wasn't the eat out scheme.
The deserts were basically just cream, and a bit floppy looking. The red wine was lovely but a little overpriced - which made up for the 50% discount we initially had. We requested to sit outside, having booked, but at first were shown to a sad looking table for two next to the dumb waiter - which I refused and we finally got our seat outside. All in all, it was a mediocre experience. I've had much worse and I've tasted much better.
X. L.
Nice ambience and staff. Good menu selection.
M. S.
First time visit this week for my husbands birthday meal. There was 13 of us, although it was quite busy the service was good and friendly at all times. The food came out, everything was correct which doesn't usually happen with large groups. The pizzas were huge and very tasty and the pasta dishes were very good. Very good value for money, large portions and you can takeaway what you can't eat. Would definitely recommend. Nice atmosphere and a lovely view of the city walls all lite up.
N. M.
Went as a double date with another couple. We were booked in however we still had a wait. The restaurant was completely packed and clearly very busy on a Saturday.
We went maybe 15 minutes, enough time to grab a drink and have a chat before being taken to our table. Service henceforth was very quick and attentive, although there was several times food came to our table that wasn't ordered so perhaps a better system for that.
Food came out quickly, was hot and extremely tasty. Three of us had pasta dishes and one had a pizza - which was the biggest pizza I've ever seen in my life. All the food was well cooked and eaten very promptly. Dessert menu was also brilliant and delicious.
Great restaurant with really helpful friendly staff and great food would highly recommend
L. H.
The food was excellent The staff amazing.
Unfortunatly my friend was taken ill here The staff were amazing helping in anyway they could and called medics. Thank you for making us feel at ease in such a difficult situation.
N. B.
Nice food but felt Menu is a bit limited. That said, we had nice food and enjoyed our meal.
They are struggling with table seating at busy times, even when you have booked at the moment, so expect a wait.
Also...smacked my head on the stairwell on way out...they need to do something about this! I'm tall but under 2m which I believe is minimum clearance.
T. E. 2.
Hands down some of the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. Easily the best pizza place in Southampton! Very nice and friendly staff, popular and busy place but understandable due to high quality food!
M.
Staff were really friendly and the whole Covid situation was handled very well. The vibe is so nice, with a great view of Southampton if you sit outside or by the windows. Food was so amazing and there was a good range of alternatives for dietary requirements such as gluten free pastas and vegetarian options. 10/10 would recommend and visit again.
S. B.
Sensational pizzas and a superb selection of traditional and modern pasta dishes 😋 Service was excellent a very personable and helpful waitress looked after us perfectly 👌 well done.
B. B.
Amazing pizzas. They're huge so it's great to share, which makes them affordable too!
G. B.
Lovely pizza, very adaptable to changing of ingredients, and good service!
M. F. D. d.
Drinks expensive not given a bill just receipt for amount paid, can't find price list for drinks anywhere, and none given, so not happy about that shock.
But altogether food was very good and tasty. The one way system for Covid was helpful, though got redirected a couple of times for going wrong way. Lol
So all in all a good evening £46 for one drink each
Two adults and a 2 year old, suggest asking prices for drinks before ordering drinks.
Over all a good evening.
B. P.
Great food, very friendly and helpful staff
Brilliant dining experiance
M. G.
We was there without booking table and they was so busy but that don't make problem for them to serve as. Pizza was massive and my carbonara was too. Everything was delicious. Service was excellent, people was really nice for as, with smile all the time. Special hello for blond polish girl and thanks.
S. S.
Amazing service with an extensive range of pizzas. They are absolutely huge! The pizza edge drops off the edge of the plate. We ordered one each but I would recommend sharing because we had loads left over. Fortunately the staff wrapped up our leftovers to take home. The pizza was just as nice cold as it was warm! The building itself is brand new with clean toilets and lots of seating including sheltered outdoor seating. The price for such a large pizza is very reasonable and I have already recommended the place to many of my friends.
A. L.
Really high quality food for a reasonable price. Their cocktail drinks taste really nice and I recommend you try them out.
Their staff were nice to talk to, and understanding about the obvious language difficulty of the menu. You can watch their chefs at work, and even have a really nice birthday message if you tell them. Lots of sparkles.
Book in advance as they can get busy sometimes.
C. W.
Loved the massive 18 inch pizzas that come as standard. The staff are great and recommend you have the pizza to share they will even make the pizzas half and half for you. Very stylish looking restaurant considering how good the prices are. Also has a couple of bars you can sit at and enjoy chilling out. Great outdoor terrace upstairs and outdoor seating out front.
J. H.
Excellent restaurant with amazing service. Food tasted fresh and was delicious. The pizzas are very very big, but the light base makes them more manageable, and you could easily share one between two.
A. D.
Amazing place. Amazing huge pizza 🥰
S. E. A.
Probably the best pizza I've ever had
Update December 2021: still as good as ever. Gave us a complimentary mini panettone on the way out. 10/10
D. S.
Restaurant very aware of precautions for covid. Temperatures and details taken and sanitiser for hands. We sat outside and felt comfortable. But people were inside and looked quite happy. The pizza was huge and we chose half and half toppings. The children had pizza and one had pasta from the kids menu and they both enjoyed them. All in all an enjoyable experience. Worth a visit.
S. G.
Went there Saturday night, so glad I booked as was busy.. Had garlic pizza bread to share between 3 adults, 1 child, was lovely, then all the adults had various pasta meals and they were all delicious.. My 4 Yr old granddaughter also had pasta and loved it, was a big portion so my husband finished it off. After saying she didn't want a pudding I ordered the pannacotta anyway and she demolished the lot.. Staff were great. Friendly and helpful.. Can't wait too return.
E. N.
Enjoyed a late lunch today at Losteria. They food is delicious and the staff are so friendly and very atentive. The restaurant is stunning and very modern and I love the fact that the kitchen is open to see. Totally worth the money and I would recommend to anyone visiting Southampton
N. F.
Visited on the bank holiday weekend after a stressful trip to IKEA. Ordered a pint and a pizza and sat outside. Staff were very friendly and service was quick. Make sure your hungry if you order a pizza as they are huge! Very impressed, will be back.
V. H.
Huge pizza, lovely food, friendly staff
n. c.
The pizzas here are huge !! And extremely well made, we didn't have any pasta but what we saw being served looked good also.
The service is friendly and attentive and the wait for food was very short.
The decor is light and the restaurant has a new and spacious feel.
L'Osteria is popular and has a good atmosphere even though surrounded by and competing with all of the other new restaurants in this regenerated area of Southampton.
They have a good selection of drinks and we have been here several times just for a few drinks.
There are heaters around the outside seating area at the front of the restaurant.
S. W.
Omg! The pizzas r crazy! Walked in late & didn't have a lot of time so ordered 3 pizzas. When they arrived I seriously thought they had made 1 between the 3 of us but no, all 3 were ginormous & tasty
J. D.
Some places are guilty of sacrificing quality for quantity, but L'Osteria is not one of them.
Absolutely fantastic food, and huge servings (pizzas wont fit on a plate!), vibrant atmosphere and very friendly and helpful staff. Even during peak time on a Saturday night, we saw one server escorting a blind lady down the stairs, and when a birthday party arrived and one of the ladies was carrying some flowers, the staff were straight over to the table with a vase of water for her to put them in.
Fantastic place, we will definitely recommend!
J. L.
Walked in on a Friday evening, (yesterday) with a pal. No reservation made and given the choice of outdoor seating, which we happily accepted. Over head heating was a nice touch. Prompt and courteous service.
We both went for pizzas, which were massive! They could have been used as cart wheels. Nice thin crispy base. Well balanced toppings.
Very reasonable prices for both the pizza and the beer.
Would recommend. Will try the pasta next time.
s. p.
Lovely place. Very friendly staff. Pizza was amazing. A great place to have food. Highly recommended
O. H.
The best pizza in town and staffs are very friendly.
G. N.
Their pizzas are outstanding and they do halfs, so you can experience more flavours! Make sure you don't order too much aswell - we were 5 grown up, who split 3 pizzas and left absolutely stuffed! The atmosphere is very good, but the music can feel a bit out of place sometimes. I would definitely visit again.
P. F.
Went in a group for a Christmas outing. Pizzas were fine. Crispy edge, not much topping, but soggy in the middle. They were very big, so enough for 2. Forgot one pizza for our group which came after everyone finished. But it was a nice place and ended up pretty cheap, so 4 stars. Wouldn't have been as great for a nice meal out for 2. But worked well in a group.
A. K.
Ohh my gosh! We love restaurants and are very judgemental people especially being in the industry our selves. This is the first time we came out during the lock down and we will definitely come back! The standards are set high which was shown by a new member of staff Elle and her lovely and on point service was followed by Laura, pretty blonde lady :) The pizza had a outstanding taste and any chain restaurants could learn from you! portions soo big we had to take our order home with us -which was not a problem when we asked. Most importantly our son was extremely happy with cheerful ladies serving him yummy food and they appreciated every thank you ! I could not recommend this place any more to anyone wishing to spend good time in Southampton ! we shall be back <3 and you should check it out if you want delightful time and delicious food ! Thank you team Southampton. :)
R. U.
Loved it. We ordered two half pizzas and as they arrived our 4 month old needed a diaper change. My partner had to up and go get it done.they came and collected her half cold pizza that's she had a quick slice from, made her a fresh one and gave her a nice hot half when she sat down. Absolutely amazing, we didn't even have to ask. Very friendly. Nice beer. Nice atmosphere. Feels good
N. B.
This restaurant is fantastic. The food is always served hot and is delicious. I can't wait to go back!
E.
We ordered pizza and spaghetti bolognaise and they are delicious. The restaurant is very cozy and the staffs are kind
A. R.
Very nice meal! Pizza was massive but very tasty. Service was spot on, food came out together, no problems at all. Ordered drinks at the table and they came within 5 minutes. Our waiter Riccardo was very attentive, well mannered and always had a smile! Only down side was the music was slightly too loud for the restaurant to hear people across the table. I expected slightly more mellow music to suit the relaxed atmosphere.
D. J. v. S.
An excellent place where you will definitely feel Italy where not only food but also some members of staff are Italian. One of the beautiful Polish waitresses spoke English and French fluently as well as her native tongue!
I ordered pizzas which where huge in size but also delicious! I felt welcomed and will definitely come back!
J. S.
Our son's choice of restaurant for his birthday. We didn't book because you can't on a Saturday but was seated quickly anyway. Young guy in white shirt assumably managerial was clearly stressed and grumpy and couldn't even manage a smile when we smiled at him!?! Glad he wasn't serving us!! Our waitress was lovely friendly chatty and happy!! Due to both son and husband ordering pizza our table was crammed. Maybe slightly bigger tables to allow for size of pizza's?? Our son enjoyed his pizza. Our waitress kindly managed to get an ice cream with candle to celebrate (thank you) and we sang to him.
G. J.
Great pizzas, good choice of drinks (including great German beer!) and friendly accommodating staff who are very conscientious during this Covid-19 period. Last ate at a L'Osteria in Salzburg, Austria and it's so great the menu is the same here!
A. H.
The pizzas were oversized seemingly at the cost of quality and topping quantity. The pizzas were also bit undercooked and bland. The atmosphere felt forced and unnecessary. On a positive note- the waiting staff were brilliant and drink were great
M. K.
The best carbonara Ever!!! I've been here 2 years ago and could not believe how good it was. I visited Southampton recently with the hopes that the place haven't changed! It did not! We ordered 4 main dishes and 3 deserts. Everything was super tasty. The staff was extremely friendly and the bathrooms were clean. Overall extremely pleased with everything. Thank you for doing such a great job!!!
S. K.
I don't usually like lOsteria pizza but it was good
D. S.
Cracking meal,
All though we had to wait for a table, yes there was 9 of us, no we didn't book. We had a lovely meal. Staff really good and very attentive. First time here, but won't be the last time. Good food, good sized portions all with great taste. Can recommend to eat there. Only complaint, the loud music.
S. H.
Very nice. Very clean. Good selection of cocktails. Pizzas are the best value for money ever although i havent been brave enough to tackle the size yet. My partner ate the whole thing though. Booking essential.
R. J.
Quite possibly the best pizza restaurant I have visited. Massive pizzas, great music & atmosphere. Good value for money.
C. K.
Pizza was very good & very large, the pasta dishes my friends had were also very good. Will visit again soon.
C. T.
Great food, amazing cocktails and great staff
L. B.
Great place to eat. The Pizza was nearly as big as the table, although it was thin enough to eat all of it!!! The BBQ Chicken pizza was very tasty and everyone's food came out together. The only downside was that the music was really loud and with a group of people at the table it was hard to hear all the conversations. Having said that I would definitely go again.
H. E. L.
Love the pasta here, best around Southampton. Great and fast service, nice atmosphere!
A. V.
Nice quiet place 🙂🙂 back open finally 😃with all necessary measures taken ( hand sanitizers, details record and temperature check)
Waiter was polite and friendly, fast service.
Big pizza for a reasonable price, I would even say cheap if to compare to takeaway price and location.
Will come back deffo.
Recommend 👍
J. P.
Lovely place, great staff and the food is amazing. If you are going for a pizza I recommend the Marinara (seafood pizza) it's minimalistic but to die for.
C. K.
The pasta was amazing. Kids menu was short, but they accommodated splitting and adult dish between two. Service at the bar whilst waiting for a table was non existent, this is what prevented the fifth star. Overall the experience was really good and would go back.
T. P.
We were quite a big group, but we're squeezed onto a collection of tables. Food was great but had we known how big the pizzas were going to be we would have asked for a lot more space. It was not busy at all and I felt the staff should have tried to get us more table space. It was a bit of a struggle to get drinks sorted.
L. J.
Food was good, service a bit slow but it was quite busy so that can be forgiven as all the waiter were friendly. Advertised as an Italian restaurant however all the music played was Spanish which is funny.
The knives they give you are humongous which is great.
T.
A great experience from start to finish. We arrived Saturday evening without booking ahead and they said there'd be a 20 minute wait, so we went ahead and sat at the bar. We ordered our drinks and enjoyed the complimentary pistachioes, and in 10 minutes out table was ready.
The staff took care of everything including our yet inlaid drinks up to the table. The service was quick, polite and efficient. The food was very good and was what it said on the menu just as you would've imagined it. We weren't rushed for more table space and the restaurant itself has a very nice atmosphere.
G. W.
Hadn't booked and were told it would be10 minutes. Well we hadn't sat down long enough to get our drinks before we were taken to our table. To take our food order was a little long but the waiting staff were busy. Our food (one of the pizzas and a Caesar salad) came very quickly. The pizza was huge and one of the best we'd both tasted. The kitchen staff were demons getting the food out. A very lovely evening.
N. B.
Saturday night absolutely heaving with customers. Service brilliant!!! Asked if we could wait for a table as we had not booked as so busy 20 minutes wait. Got seated outside in 10 minutes. Pizza was huge for my daughter she ate the lot. I was asked if I could wait 25 minutes for mine as the pasta section was really busy. I said yes. Arrived in less time than that & can honestly say was worth the wait. It was fantastic. Best pasta dish I have ever had. Staff polite & attentive. Puddings were amazing too. Patio overhead heaters were put on as the sun went down. It was lovely & warm. A fab place will definitely be back. Would highly recommend. They were soooo busy but was excellent service & food. Such good value for money as well.
J. O.
Lovely food, pizza are fantastic and huge can never eat a whole one and staff are happy to put the left overs in a box for you to takeaway. Staff are lovely. you can see the cooks making food behind the kitchen which is always interesting and nice to see how your food is made.
Wheel chair accessibility is great however i would reccommend booking a table in advance as can get very busy!
G. W.
Excellent restaurant - food, quality and value! Very enjoyable!
B. R.
Pizza so massive and delicious, this one is called the pizza Bianca I think with chicken.
C. T.
Decent sized portions. Tend to have the standard pizza which is thin crust, leaves you feeling alright and not too overful. Only little gripe is that I've found you have to chase up the waiter/waitress for service or sit tight and wait a long time. Decent place to eat, won't break the bank and in the centre of town
I. K.
If you like pizza, you have just got to try this place.
K. C.
Excellent value for money, as the pizzas are large enough for two people to share. Cocktail menu was also very good. Staff were attentive and friendly, and food was delivered in good time despite the restaurant being quite busy. Looking forward to going back here to try some more of the extensive menu.
W. F.
Best pizza I had in a long time. Thin base and the four cheese topping were easy to distinguish.
It was a bit busy, so staff was not as nice as supposed, but not rude or disrespectful.
Definitely recommend it from big groups to a date.
H. D.
Nice atmosphere. Big tasty meals, nice friendly staff.
J. P.
Great restaurant for a pre/post theatre dinner, I had the spaghetti carbonara, delicious & creamy, a good size meal and a reasonable price, good service & friendly helpful staff.
J. T.
Been twice. Once for dinner, once for lunch. Both times the staff have been lovely, warm and welcoming. The gnocchi wasn't the best but my complaint was handled promptly by the waitress.
The lunch we just had was exquisite. Will definitely be going back for more.
N. J.
If you come on a busy day like we did and booked, make sure you queue on the right hand side. Was extremely busy and we thought they may have over booked but a staff member checked our booking within 2 minutes of queuing and a further 3 minutes later we were shown to our seats. The staff were like busy bees flying around knowing exactly what to do and when without instruction. Delicious food delivered by friendly efficient staff.
U. A.
Good friendly staff, clean restaurant with a good selection of food. The pizza we ordered was huge so be warned it is very easy to over order, we couldn't finish our food there was so much of it. One of the better chain restaurants I have eaten in
A.
First time to this place, my food was very tasty, I went for the lasagna and it was plenty filling at a good price.
We had others at the table who went for a pizza, they are far to big and should be shared, only 1 of 7 finished with the rest taking the remainder home. There was a lot of other tables being cleared with a lot of uneaten food.
C. D.
High quality food in a relaxed atmosphere, comfortable yet cosy with a range of different seating styles, this pretty much ticks all the boxes for Italian food. Excellent pasta, enormous pizzas and a great selection of beers and spirits plus great value for money on all counts. Highly recommended.
N. H.
Really nice place. Food was great, pizzas were massive (didn't even fit on the plate they served it in) and friendly staff and good atmosphere
C. U.
Absolutely fantastic customer service. The food was AMAZING and the ambience was brilliant. If you ever want to go to a decent Italian in Southampton - L'Osteria Southampton is the place!!!
P. H.
Amazing food
Huge portions
Our waitress Eleonara was so friendly and super efficient.
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
Will definitely be back 🤗
D. S.
Best pizza in area with fantasticvalueformoney. Very friendly and efficient staff. Well worth a visit.
R. A.
Love their menu. Staff lovely. Sometimes can be too noisy. Better to prebook as very popular. Tend to have to wait for walk-in.
L. T.
Hands down my favorite restaurant, food is devine, its well underpriced for what you get, pizzas are huge! If you ate 1 on your own it would be a challenge, amd the pasta is delicious! service is usually good. Always reserve at the weekend or you wont get in unless ur lucky.
I. J.
Delicious every time! We have been here 5 times now and absolutely love it. The pizza and pasta is excellent quality and is perfectly cooked. Many thanks to the L'Osteria team- we will be back!
M. B.
The food was good, the waiter attentive.
But on arriving we ordered drinks while we looked at the menu and l took a handful of pistachio nuts from the bar counter to nibble on whilst ordering our food. The miserable bar man told me that these were for people waiting at the bar and not for customers seated, waiting for food. He told me he would charge my table £3.50 for the nuts.
So customers only having a drink can have free nuts. But customers paying for £60 worth of food have to pay for them.
Really, how pathetic!
A. M.
We came here several times and as a large group were always satisfied with the meals. For the price the pizza is absurdly large and put me in a food comma.. Half the group struggled to finish a whole one of the larger pizzas. Beer a spot pricey but overall recommend if you want a decent pizza and don't mind waddling home.
S. P.
Giant sized pizzas are served as standard. Tasty & very good value as enough for 2 especially with a side order or starter.
R. Y.
Good value for money. Massive pizzas. My only criticism is they didn't have the pizza I ordered off the specials menu and was only advised this after I ordered. Wish restaurants would tell you this when they hand out the menus rather than me deciding and looking forward to trying something different only to be disappointed then having to try and find an alternative.
M. L.
The pizza is huge, and nice. Usually you get one whilst compromising the other at any other place.
However, one bad experience due to a rude manager left a bitter taste in my mouth. I'm not looking to get my a*** kissed, but don't speak to my group like children.
A. S.
Service takes a while but apart from that, the food and atmosphere is pretty amazing
E. M.
Amazing pizza, the biggest one I've ever had! Not only big in size but also in taste! However my partner and I had to wait for ages for our food because someone forgot about our order! Our starter (simple bruschetta) arrived almost after an hour and my partner's main dish, carbonara, arrived rather cold.
So over all good food but we did not have much luck with the service at l'Osteria.
R.
Really lovely, tasty pizza. Be warned, they are massive. I would eat here again although would share. The cocktails tasted a bit watered down but this was probably because they were served with a bucket load of ice.
R. J.
Gorgeous food - pizzas enormous and excellent quality; pasta was absolutely lovely. Staff all really attentive, friendly and helpful. Dealt with son's but allergy brilliantly. Great atmosphere - really lively. Definitely recommend x
N. C.
The pizzas are amazing and absolutely massive. I mean big like big big. Delicious and reasonably priced haven't had the pasta but that looked decently sized too judging by the bowls coming out to other diners 😁
L. A.
Very good Italian style food and location, friendly staff but not too much paying attention to customer needs. You need to chase them up a bit. Avoid the dessert.
G. K.
Really good restaurant, love the pasta...
K. H.
As always lovely food and plenty for your money. One of my favourites.
N. W.
Always great. What a bargain the pizzas are. We share one. Brilliant service and food.

Lovely experience! Two things prevent me from giving a 5-star review: the music was WAY TOO LOUD for conversation, especially when the music had vocals; also there were no vegan options whatsoever which I find a little disturbing and unconscious considering that it is now 2019 and awareness of the animal trade and unnecessary over-consumption is very widespread. I had a mushroom risotto and had the cheese removed, there could have been a lot more vegetable in it but still, it was delicious! Removing the cheese made this animal-free. I originally requested the Vegetariano pizza, with the mozzarella removed, but this did not alter the price at all which seems unreasonable to me considering that the cheese is the most expensive part of a vegetable pizza.
We went to L'Osteria as a family for my sister's birthday and, all things considered, we had a great time in your restaurant. I would highly recommend the risotto to anyone, especially those wishing to not consume animal life. Thank you!
S. H.
Our half half pizza was OK, the special half wasn't as described on the menu in fact it was really bland. The place got super noisy and there was a a frenetic feel. Not really relaxing experience. Great coffee and very nice staff.
M. b.
Excellent service, lovely venue and very good Italian food. The menu is just perfect, and well priced. Quality of the food served has to be seen. Well placed in town, very close to West Quay shops and other amenities.
Will definitely be returning.
O. B.
Pizzas were unreal. Really nice
D. P.
Good food, good service. The pizzas are huge, so much pizza for the price, probably the biggest in terms of circumference tho only 3mm of bread, so a great ratio overall. The carbonara is very tasty too.
C. P.
To be fair, I'm highly impressed by the pizza, probably one of the best I've eaten outside of Italy (home): It's incredibly large, authentic and the price is reasonable. Few Critiques: Given the name I'd expect to find a larger selection of wines rather than italian beers, and an osteria doesn't really serve pizza, (which is fine) but I'd also like to see a wider range of Italian foods which an Oste serves, rather than only pizza and pasta; things such as risotto, steak, frittata, polenta and others... Also I don't understand the loud South-American/Spanish music blasted at full volume: an Italian restaurant rarely has music or at least something subtle that does not disturb communication at dinner.
V. T.
Rediculously huge pizza, attentive waiting staff and nice vibe. There are a lot of pizza places in Southampton, but this has a good range on menu and it's really reasonably priced when you consider that the pizzas are 18 inches. They'll happily bag it up for you though, so you can eat it for the next few days. There are other menu options if you're not a pizza fan, but in my eyes why works you have anything but an enormous pizza
L. P.
the pizza is amazing here and so decently priced. 1 visit my bfs pizza was made twice by mistake but because it's too spicy for me to have. they remade my pizza. was given bread and oil at no charge. Couldn't apologise enough. service has always been great here. Can't fault them
M. R.
The reason I only gave a 3 is because I felt the meal I had was overpriced. I do not eat pizza or pasta due to allergy so had the insalata campagnolo. It was very small and only had 2 pieces of goats cheese and 3 small pieces of beetroot. Compared to the massive pizza it was rather meagre for the price. Service was not that good either.

WOULD I RETURN.........
My wife and I came here on a busy Friday evening after shopping. We waited for a table 10 minutes no problem as we had not booked. My wife ordered a GF spaghetti dish and my order was a Gamberatti pizza no problem the restaurant was very busy so the food being freshly cooked took a while.
I started to eat my pizza and found a problem and asked for a manager...... He had no problem with the complaint and replaced my meal and did not charge us for our meal.
VERY WELL HANDLED BY ALL INVOLVED from the very nice server Kitty and the greeter at the door and of course the MANAGER. Thank you all and YES I WILL RETURN.
M. S.
Food was good as usual and our waitress was very friendly but all waiting staff seemed absolutely run off their feet so noone came back to check on us or see if we wanted more drinks. I had to stop someone who was rushing past just to ask for another drink. It was a Saturday but was late afternoon, not dinner time yet so wasn't hugely busy. Won't stop us visiting again but was a bit disappointing especially when there were a couple of manager looking men stood at the doorway telling the waitresses what to do when they could've maybe helped provide a better service themselves.
a. m.
Lovely place, great atmosphere. There was a wide variety of food and drinks. Food portion was massive and so are the pizzas there! Absolutely delicious.
D. R.
Smashing lunch with my sisters after a shopping trip. Lovely place and helpful staff.
T. Y.
Really good food, been there on multiple occasions. Staff are mostly quick, always friendly and helpful. Order a pizza as they are very big, I am hard pushed to finish it (even with a high metabolism and the hunger of a horse); I often end up taking slices home.
A. D.
What a lovely pizza and great surroundings was buzzing and everybody enjoying themselves. Love it where you can see the chefs making the pizzas.
Was very big so my sister and i ordered 1 big pizza but we chose what toppings we wanted on our own half. I had the ham pinneapple and mushroom and she had the pepperoni and mushrooms. We shared a mixed salad with a lovely orange vinegarette dressing so refreshing!!!
Very posh toilets with upmarket hand soap and flowers makes you feel special.
Would reccomend next time will try the pasta.
O. M.
Been here a few times. The food is lovely for the most part. Cocktails are overpriced for what you get. Don't bother with a mojito if you just want ice. Service takes a slip when it's busy, which is understandable, however if expect them to get more staff on to retain the quality.
c. b.
Quality pizza at a good price. The pizzas are massive and in the past 6 months food quality has been maintained and staff are clearly getting some training because they are better, however, they are still lacking, hopefully this can be rectified by management!
z. s.
Delivered our mains while we were still half way through our starter there was no checking on us during the meal and we had to wait 20 minutes after asking for the bill food was alright though so that's a positive
N. K.
Pizzas are huge! One is enough to share normally. Staff have always been polite and do their best despite how busy it usually is, great atmosphere although not exactly Italian...More just noisy.
Only suggestion is don't charge extra for garlic butter all the time, you have to pay per pot which is a bit frustrating.
P. C.
Enjoyed the pizza bo which was a delicious calzone. Shared it with the girlfriend as the portions are huge but can be taken away if you don't manage it all. A lovely dinner and the restaurant wasn't overcrowded as it was midweek. Better than most italian restaurants in the area.
D. C.
What a breathe of fresh air! After having many rubbish meals at other restaurants, we discovered this place from recommendations of my sister's Italian student. The staff were lovely, the food exceptional, atmosphere brilliant..will be returning
B. S.
Had a table booked for 5 at 8pm Saturday 16.2.19 we were waiting 15 mins to be seated at a table that had been empty the whole time. We waited 30 mins for our drink order to be taken, the only drink we had the whole evening. Again a long wait to take our food order, although this was brought out fairly quickly, food was OK not as good as expected after reading reviews?! Dessert was great though. It was extremely busy and hence no table service whatsoever. The music was so loud the whole restaurant was shouting to be heard, really not conducive to a meal with friends. Won't visit again purely for that reason.
G. T.
I love the service and the friendly and positive staff! The food is really amazing for the price! Also relly love the chill music on the background! Will visit this place again and again! Thanks for great atmosphere!❤❤❤
J. M.
Beautiful food very lovely staff highly recommended!
T. B.
Very very good food however service left a lot to be desired. Waited for half an hour for the bill before catching a waiters attention only for him to disappear after we asked for the bill. In total it took us 55 minutes to pay after we had finished eating.
c. p.
Amazing for authentic italian pizza, the size is huge as well
J.
i went a while back so maybe it's changed, but service took years, felt like I was watching the world go by trhough the centuries while I withered away in the background.
cant remeber what the food tasted like
K. W.
Great, huge pizza and the crayfish pasta with lobster sauce is the best!
G. B.
1 word. Pi-zza. Covid secure pizza and pasta for all. Temperature of my wrists taken. Masks galore. Had the time of my life. 1 way system to die for. Pizzas on the small side but that didn't matter. What night. What a place. Thank you L'Osteria for changing my life. Goodnight. God bless. Stay safe.
R. C.
Puts other "Italian" restaurants to shame. Fantastic pizzas (hope you're very hungry!) and pasta dishes at great prices. Look out for their lunchtime meal deals. Recommended.
L. D.
Food looks delightful, will be visiting for dinner very soon. Popped in for cocktails only and was surprised at how lovely the place was and was eyeing up the food! We sat at the bar and the bartenders were kind and polite. We even got a free glass of Prosecco, even better!
J. M.
Pizzas very big but so thin I could not pick it up. Nice flavours and perfectly cooked. Staff running around like crazy as it was so busy made me feel sorry for them. Not a relaxing place at all very noisy building
y. l.
It's nice and there food is lovely.
L. H.
Great food. Massive portions. Pizzas are around £10 each but definitely worth it. Pasta ranges in price from £8 to £10. Drinks are a little expensive and most come in 300ml bottles
A. L.
Great pizzas very large and good tasting. Experience was let down by slow service and far too loud music so you were unable to have a conversation with the person next to you. Would return but nit in a hurry!
R. N.
The pizzas are big, but that's pretty much the only selling point they have. However, they are so thin and with so little in terms of toppings that it works out to about the same as a regular 8" pizza.
Overall pretty average.
P. R.
There wasnt a table so we waited at the bar for 30mins first.
The bar service took forever - I thought we were wearing invisibility cloaks. Telling a customer they can wait for a table at the bar and then blank them for 20mins isn't really acceptable.
After we were seated service and food was great. We had a good view of the kitchen where they were putting on a good show of dough throwing as they made the pizzas.
S. E.
Huge and amazing pizza. I think the best in West Quay. As italian I can easily say that it was one of the best pizza I have ever eaten in UK. Compliments to the chef, he also had a chat with me.
W. C.
The pizza is excellent. Made the same way as in Italy. Staff is very friendly.
G. C. C.
Very nice place, very good service. I like the shape of the pizza which I love because it is very big. Nice and fresh and ingredients and dough as well; highly recommend by an Italian
A. B.
Absolutely amazing pizzas very large. Good menu and good service.
A. M.
Went this lunchtime. Staff disorganised but will get there given a few more weeks. Starters were very good and the mozzarella was very fresh. However a fail on the pasta mains, kept under heat lamp for too long, not very warm and pasta starting to stick together. As it was quiet i would hate to see how it operates under pressure. Would i go again, probably not.
Z. W.
We have a lovely Sunday lunch here, tasty food and friendly services, will visit again soon.
J. C.
A family trip down to Southampton from London and we looked around West Quay for somewhere to eat and came across L'Osteria - The place was in a great location and was buzzing with life. A great menu selection, combined with the most enormous pizzas I've ever seen in my life and great customer service makes this somewhere that I'd definitely recommend.
A. S.
Awesome, relaxed atmosphere, we ordered a pizza to share absolutely delicious, big enough for two people 15+ inches..
Great salads and good selection of drinks..
Very clean..
Prices are well good, £8 for a pizza..
Awesome..😀
M. C.
I couldn't be happier with the warmth and sincerity of the people working at L'Osteria. We had two utterly charming and attentive people looking after us. The pizza base was authentic; thin and crisp, but the toppings were lacking. According to the menu 'La Capricciosa', states ham and artichoke as being integral to the topping. I do not consider one small piece of (processed) ham and a quarter, yes a quarter,of an artichoke adequate, with a bear smearing of tomato base. The music was so loud that everyone ended up shouting to be heard and as we were next to a table of 5 middle aged womend to enjoy themselves by quaffing vast amounts of prosecco, the noise level dramatically increased. This spoilt the evening for me totally and I'm giving the place 3 stars purely because of the warmth of the staff. The food deceived by appearance in my opinion.
A. M.
Put simply - The BEST value for money Pizza i have EVER had at a restaurant. The pizzas are genuinely huge and cost less than £14. Better than the price is the taste - Delicious. Combine all this with it's centralised location within West Quay and the great aesthetic environment, L'osteria is a real winner!
n.
First time eatting in Southampton and so glad I came here, the food, drinks and service were amazing. Better than anything I've had back home in Belfast and I've eatten in some nice Italian places there. I wish I could remember the name of the waitresses who served me and my best friend near the till, she was lovely and definitely amazing at her job. Anyway, if anyone is looking Italian in Southampton, look no further.
S. V.
Midweek evening meal- 9pm quite.
The chap front of house was rude and not welcoming.. the waitress (after relising I was there) was very polite and attentive.
Starter and main I'm afraid were both very bland, theres alot better Italians in town but for fast convenience, it's ok... Not what I was looking for tho and not worth the price paid.
3 stars from me.
T. J.
Great pizza for large appetites. Service was a little slow on the evening I visited when IMO it wasn't all that busy. But hey ho. Not all that unusual in chain restaurants like this
D. F.
Pizza - pasta. Big pizzas! On a quite day the service is efficient if not quick - they do cook everything from scratch. When it's busy it has more atmosphere and is slower. Lots of covers it can get busy.
F. K.
Always a favourite. Great pizza, friendly staff and fast service.
L. “.
Apart from our waitress leaving our food on the pass for 5 minutes, all was good
J. M.
Pizzas are so good, probably the best in southampton.
The prices are really good bc the pizzas are really big.
Authentic italian cousine.
Desserts are amazing aswell and also they have a huge variety of drinks are wines.
Sometimes stuff doesnt pay attention if u are outside.
But if u are looking for italian food you should go to l'osteria.
Will come back for sure.
L. M.
Liked their italian food..pizza was even too big for me to consume
M. M.
Good COVID precautions, with mandatory hand sanitisation and temperature checking at the door. Service was incredibly quick and the pizzas were excellent (and huge!). Great experience.
M. S.
Love this place. True Italian experience. Very good value for the money (show me where in Southampton you can get this size of pizza for around £10 :)) Even visit in toilet is amazing ;) (Very clean and fresh + you can learn Italian language when sitting on a throne ;).. Haha Belissimo!
D. L.
Pizza was amazing easily one of the best ive ever had would recommend sharing one unless you have a big appetite as the pizzas are huge. Service was quick and the price is very reasonable as well will definitely be coming again.
S. B.
Great food and good customer service.
E. K.
It was really delicious food and very friendly service. Thank you so much to Laura Shaumyan, who helped us and was very friendly
l. t.
L’osteria is always a good choice for logically priced Italian food. Huge pizzas and very tasty pasta. 4 stars because the menu is limited only to these 2 choices.
V. W.
The service upstairs took a while to get going, but once it picked up, everything was ok. The pizzas were terrific. You need a BIG appetite to do them justice!
V. A.
Amazing pizza, finally a pie that you can call pizza in England!!!! Prices are perfect for the sizes
D. S.
One of the best food in Southampton 😍😍😍
L. H.
It's ok. They don't offer oil with your salad or parmesan with your pasta or any of those things. Food was ok. The staff were lovely though and the setting was very nice. I would go back there however.
J. M.
Huge pizza, good drinks and good service
E. M.
Had a lovely, great value for money, pizza. Good atmosphere & lovely attentive staff. Will definitely be back.
H. R.
Food was good, but they didn't bring out all our meals out at the same time, by the time my pizza arrived the others in my party had finished eating. They were very apologetic and removed the pizza from the bill.
M. P.
Food & atmosphere was great! All staff were friendly especially Zoe who looked after us as we were there for a celebratory meal. Very well done to her!
S. M.
Very cute restaurant. Lots of Italian drinks on the menu from wine to aperitivi to digestivi in the firm of averna or limoncello. Massive thin crust Italian pizza for very reasonable price. They also had a special board.
l. h.
This is my absolute fave restaurant in town. So clean. Best food. Polite staff. I just love it here! Hoping to visit again very soon :)
E. L.
Absolutely loved L'Osteria in Southampton. After being sent away from another restaurant, Casa Brasil that was, being told it was 'too busy to serve more people', we were welcomed at L'Osteria although the palce was already heaving. The service was quick, ordered chef's specials 'gnocchi broccoli with gorgonzola'. The waitress was knowledgeable enoughto warn me about its strong taste but it was delish. The pizzas are as generous as many reviewers point out, they could probably do with bigger plates, but you get the left overs wrapped so they don't go wated. Our little one had a choice from kids menu and some extra attention from our attentive and lovely waitress Oliwia. Although the restaurant was super busy, she made our table well attened. Kudos!
M. A.
Great food but slow service!
n. e.
Massive pizzas. Good service. Had to wait for our booked table.
T. F.
Very nice looking place well decorated. But the service is not great waited nearly an hour for two pasta dishes, We arrived about 5 so not a busy time . The food was ok nothing special. Seams to me they spept more time and money on making it look fancy then giving you good service and food.
H. H.
I've been here a few times and twice now the service has been terrible. I've had my table taken from me, my bill lost, rosé brought over instead of red and when I spoke to the manager to tell him about my repeated bad service, he didn't really seem like he was listening to be honest. Although I understand why because despite all this it won't stop me coming back for the undeniably outstanding and delicious food.
I. L.
First time foe me, absolutely amazing food, will definitely be back.
