Staff attentive from start to finish. Lovely vibe. We would definitely return if we were in the area again. My partner said it was the best pasta he’s ever had (and he’s had a lot of pasta). Highly recommend. Call to book in advance as it’s quite small and very popular.

Went for my stepsons birthday. Small venue, but the service and food was impeccable. We had literally just got back from Rome a couple weeks prior, so going to an Italian restaurant it was always going to be up against it. But as said the food was lovely, service was brilliant. And has a wonderful evening.

Staff was really friendly and welcoming but the food was just okay, no many choices of pasta, just spaghetti or penne (I was expecting at least rigatoni from an Italian restaurant) . In my opinion there are better Italian restaurants in Southampton . But the atmosphere is really nice, is a quick trip to Italy without leaving UK!!

Absolutely blown away with this restaurant. First visit and definitely not the last.The menu offered so many choices and the drink list also. The house red was a quality wine. Lovely warm welcome, love this little hidden gem in the middle of Southampton. Been coming here for over 40 years and you still get the authentic Italian experience, the cheesy garlic bread was amazing and the best around, the red wine also went down well, congrats to all the staff for a lovely place to chill and relax.

Piccolo Mondo has one of the nicest atmospheres in Southampton. I used to live right next door and went frequently and now I go back whenever I can, the staff are lovely, the food is very reasonably priced and incredibly tasty. The restaurant is not large, which adds to the atmosphere but it does mean its worth booking especially if you're a larger group!

We just had an amazing food experience. We had garlic bread picolo mondo pizza, lasagne, penne, calzoni. They tasted amazing. It is the best Italian place in Southampton. The staff was so friendly and with a warm welcome. The wine list is big and the one we tried Grecanico and it was perfect.. We left the place full of food cause the servings are huge and with a strong feeling that we definitely will be back. Highly recommend

A very cozy Italian restaurant tucked in a corner. The establishment is rather small so it may be a squeeze if you have a large party. There’s lots of variety on the menu. They also do a lunch deal for £6.50 on all pastas and pizzas. Tried their marinara pizza which was good, except that I found it a tad bit too salty for my liking. Also had a tomato-based pasta. Personally found the sour tomato flavour a bit too overwhelming. However, service is very prompt and friendly. Will consider going back and trying other dishes

After reading others reviews ,we decided to go there for our wedding anniversary, well what can I say, it was amazing!!, the food was delicious, the service was top class, nothing more to add really apart from we had a great experience and we would highly recommend, if I could give ten stars I would!! I had a throughly nice time at this restaurant, that might have been more to do with the company I had over the restaurant itself. The food was really very good, absolutely nothing to complain about there, and extremely good value for money. However, it's a very small premises, and customers were packed in, they did have screens in place for what they were worth. Also the table we were on was obviously a picnic table with a table cloth on, I really didn't feel like I could put much pressure on it for fear of it collapsing. That all said, I believe I would visit again, at the very least to give them another chance.

The setting, the staff and the food, all completely 5 star. After a string of bad experiences dining out I was very happy to have a completely perfect meal. The music, the decoration, it all worked together to provide the full package. Since places have opened up after lowering the covid restrictions, service has been lacking in Southampton and I haven't felt truly cared for by the server at a restaurant. Me and my partner came here very last minute. Attempted to book a table for 9:45pm at around 8pm that night. Called ahead and asked if it was ok. They said they were very busy but should be fine. When we arrived we were seated to a table straight away! Best garlic bread I've ever had, it was so spongy and you could definitely tell they had made the bread from scratch! Would definitely recommend. I got the tagliatelle Alfredo which was delicious! Very rich and creamy and my partner got the tagliatelle Gioconda which had salmon in and he said it was outstanding. Our waitress didn't introduce herself, unfortunately but the service she provided was fantastic! The authentic Italian music in the background made you feel as if you were definitely sitting in the heart of Italy. Would absolutely recommend this restaurant if you're a pasta lover like myself!

My husband, our young son and I have just visited this restaurant this evening and I felt compelled to write a review. From the moment we arrived the waitress (wish I’d got her name) was so lovely and welcoming, I wish every restaurant came with such lovely friendly service. The food exceeded our expectations. My husband and I travelled around Italy a couple of years ago and this meal was up there with some of the best Italian food we’ve had. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed every bite and will 100% return if we are ever in the area again in future.

Traditional Italian which I first visited about 35 years ago. It's developed, but never really changed which I see as a bonus and makes it much preferable to the plethora of chain restaurants. Good value main course in Italian home style. One criticism. The starter was very overpriced Three prawns in the gambas dish for £9.80. Really? The years of success have been built on the solid foundations as a decent neighbourhood Italian. Don't get ideas, and charge prices, above your station.

A very rustic and traditional italian trattoria style place. The food was tasty. However questionable whether they make the pizzas from scratch as they are perfectly round and don't see them being made live in front of you. Nevertheless still tasty!

A cute, tucked away spot with a romantic atmosphere. Has been a favourite of mine since a friend took me here. I was a bit confused by location, but soon found it to be a true hidden gem. I’ve since passed on the recommendation to many friends who have fallen in love with Piccolo Mondo. One time I suggested this would be a good pace for a friend of mine to have dinner with her parents who aren’t local, her parents were so impressed with the restaurant they praised me personally and ordered me a 3 course meal which they dropped off to me for suggesting this place. If you’re in Southampton this is the #1 place you MUST visit!

I think this is the best Italian restaurant in Southampton!!!! Always has been and always will be. It is hidden away and most people just walk past but it has managed to survive for many years due to the quality of the food, good portion size and the superb way the waiting staff make you feel at ease and help with menu choices. Ok, so the restaurant is small and cosy, the family that run it are friendly and attentive. They offer a good selection of traditional Italian food on the 'specials board' or the printed menu. The homemade sausages are sublime, the lasagne is to die for, the seafood pasta is beyond words, the pasta marinara is a delight - I could go on and i will! The starters are all good and a big shout out for the calamari and the whitebait and not forgetting the garlic bread which is excellent especially if you ask for extra garlic oil on top. I believe it is reasonably priced and worth every penny.

This humble looking eatery would possibly go missed as its off a side street and inconspicuously located at the entrance to Marland's Shopping Centre delivery entrance DONT LET THAT PUT YOU OFF! We booked in advance to ensure a pre-theatre show time table of 5:30pm and thank goodness we did. The long galley style restaurant filled up about twenty minutes after we arrived. The decor is quaint and no fuss with a comfortable feel and the staff were friendly and attentive from the outset. Having eaten in chain and mock Italian restaurants it was a real pleasure to eat breads, pasta and tiramisu that was reminiscent of my time in Tuscany last autumn. The food is authentic home made Italian with a great selection you won't be disappointed. Would highly recommend for families, couples and business alike, you won't be disappointed. MAKE SURE YOU BOOK so as to guarantee a table.
