Loved it ! Food lovely ! Great staff. Only thing it didn't get a five four is they squashed us up into the window, we were three and someone was on the other table. The restaurant was empty? Other than that it was amazing.

Had a great experience with my wife, brother in law and his wife. The starters were to die for and the mains were perfect. We sat in the window, but to be honest when the table next to us was filled it did suddenly feel a little tight. That was only a small issue though. We will definitely go again if we head that way. I really enjoyed my lunch at Portofino's. The fillet steak was really tender and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. My friend had the canneloni and garlic bread which she said was delicious. The service was excellent and I can definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.

A bit disappointing really, quite a thick pizza base. Nothing to complain about but I've had better pizza from a local pub that doesn't advertise itself as "fine dining". Adequate but nothing exciting. Also, give it a wide berth if you don't like balsamic vinegar...

Fantastic restaurant. Service is first class, the surroundings are excellent and the food is amazing! The menu offers a nice range and the early bird menu is a great idea. Order a starter, main and dessert and only pay for the main. Even with a drink it's averaging £25-30 per person which I b think is excellent value considering the size of the main course. I've reviewed on TripAdvisor and can't rate it highly enough. 5 stars without question.

Visited as we were in the area shopping and had seen the good reviews. Have to say it really didn't disappoint. The restaurant is smart and modern and the manager nice and friendly. We had 2 courses off the festive fixed price menu and the food was brilliant, really tasty and hot. The tiramisu was excellent. We will definitely revisit when back in Hanley.

Spectacularly good meal with excellent service. We went a few weeks before, and because of renovation work only the upstairs was open, which was very noisy and we were reluctant to try again. Now the restaurant is transformed with intimate booths catering for different numbers of guests, the food is excellent, the ambience great, and we will definitely return. Hopefully more people will as well, as the food is great value and quality.

All I can say is WOW! Me and my boyfriend paid a visit to the restaurant yesterday afternoon and we were certainly blown away. Staff were very welcoming and undeniably the food was outstanding. Definitely the best Italian I have been too, will be visiting again!!

The best place to dine out in Hanley for sure. Friendly owner who remembers his guests from years previous and even what you had to eat. Decor is classy and the food here is second to none. We now try to treat ourselves to a visit once a month to try more from the extensive menu.

Had a fantastic meal here on a Friday lunch time. The lunch menu, 2 courses for £8.95 makes fine dining affordable and the portion sizes were great! We had the white bait and mushrooms to start with then the chicken and lasagne as our mains. We had a side of garlic bread and cheese too and this was beautiful and basically a 10" pizza size! The food was delicious and the restaurant itself really well decorated. Strongly recommend!

Came in today with my boyfriend for our first meal together, both of us were truly impressed with the service, how fast we got our menu's and how fast the waiter came back to take our orders. loved how polite,happy and friendly the staff were. bit pricey but the food is worth the price. both of us agreed that the pizzas were the best ones we had in our lives. i also appreciated that they removed a topping that i did not like from my pizza as i requested. beautiful restaurant, Very Clean and totally impressed with the service. Portofino has quickly become my favourite restaurant ever since it was booked for me as a birthday suprise, I find the atmosphere sophisticated but laid back, the staff are very attentive and want to make sure everything is perfect, and the food !! Well maintained restaurant with very friendly staff and good food. The wine card is something different. They have very nice wines on the menu, however several of the wines are not available. And the recommended alternatives unfortunately are slightly disappointing. But please remember good food and friendly service !

Our main courses were all tasty, however we weren't keen on our starter of breaded mozzarella, which we assumed would be multiple chunks but was actually one huge slab of mozzarella, there was way too much cheese compared to bread crumbs! We were also disappointed they didnt offer the tastecard in conjunction with eat out help out, which I know a lot of other places are doing, but I understand they probably don't want to make their prices too cheap.

Brought back my love of Italian restaurants! I came here with 4 of my friends, and we were greeted by a very friendly, welcoming member of staff. The atmosphere was great, nice music, clean, fancy table decor, etc. The food was delicious, from the bruschetta to the Spaghetti Alla Puttanesca, everything was flavourful and presented beautifully. Depending on what you're expecting, the menu can be viewed as either pricey, or a great deal. It cost about £20 per person, with every having either 2 or 3 courses, so it's a bit more expensive than your standard pub, but very reasonably priced for a nice restaurant. I strongly recommend this restaurant to ANYBODY, and after going here, I don't think I can go back to the same, boring chain-restaurants that you always seem to find in town centers (stuff like nandos, frankie and bennies, pizza express, etc.).

We had dinner here last week before we visited Alton Towers. The food was good and our children lived their pizzas! We both ordered a G&T and were both rather disappointed - not very tasty and the tonic was flat with a strange array of fruit served in the glass. My husband is gluten intolerant and finding a GF option was quite difficult (but we didn't really think it would be easy in a pizza place to be honest!)
