Fresh, delicious and the best sourdough pizza! Friendly staff and great service. This restaurant was a the perfect last dinner for our trip to York. They were very accommodating with my daughter's dairy intolerance and happily made the porcini and potato pizza vegan for her. I however, ate the same pizza with all the dairy filled goodness and it was delightful! The kitchen staff are friendly and happy to answer questions. While they may credit the 113 yo starter from Italy, I think the trick to their delicious dough/crust is really the 28 hour room temperature ferment and I'll be giving this a try at home.

Possibly the best pizza I have ever had… I have been to Rome and thought the pizzas couldn’t be topped, well, they might well have been by Cresci! The atmosphere is lovely, bubbly and welcoming. Not a huge place which is the charm, and the staff are so friendly. When it comes to the pizza, just glorious. Worth a try for sure.

After disappointing food from Sunday roast from Arms and upper river, we have finally found something amazing in York as this is our first time visiting York. My hubby went to collect pizza and like others reviews, oh my god, their pizza’s are out of this world!!! The pizza based is lightly seasoned and fluffy. Their pizza is easily passed 5 stars and by far the best we had, even our sons requested more. We will definitely try eating in next time fresh out of the oven.

If you are looking for incredible pizza then do not look elsewhere :)!! This place is magnificent. The owner is really lovely and all the staff were so welcoming. Pizza options were great and Maradona is a phenomenal pizza! You can also do takeaway and price was affordable as well. Lovely interior and lovely people with great Italian pizza!! An ABSOLUTELY amazing experience. We came in without a booking from the snow and the waitress was fantastic. We got offered seats at the kitchen which is a FANTASTIC seat to have. Trust me! The chef's were amazing and humourous and they answered all our questions as we were fascinated by the ovens, how they made their pizzas and how quick they were. Brilliant and really charming and fun. Probably our best night and meal in our journey to York. I can't fault anything, even thou they mentioned pineapple shouldn't be on pizza. But it was just amazing. Would definitely go back!!

What a great place for an alternative Easter Sunday dinner. Their sourdough pizza is full of flavour and was a chewiness that is perfect. The sauces are wonderfully creative with very interesting combinations and all very tasty, we consumed 3 between 2 people, so we covered a good selection.The fennel sausage is the best...the San Danielle (uncooked prosciutto) is a close second . We lucked out and got seats at the kitchen counter, getting a close up look at all the prepping and wood fired oven cooking. To top it all off the staff is superb , making customers feel like family even as they crank out 100s of pizzas a night. Definitely this one is top choice for pizza in York

When you think of great pizza you think of Naples and New York. But York? Yes York, England. Real Neapolitan pies served up fresh from a wood-fired oven right here in York. I would indeed say that it has the best pizza north of the Alps. I have eaten a lot of pizza and pasta around the Bay of Naples and if I close my eyes this pizza takes me back there again. Armando prepares it hot and Elena serves it up with a smile! But I think what we like best about Cresci is the interaction of the cheerful staff and the customers. We felt like everyone was part of one big Italian family!

Absolutely a must visit for a delicious and genuinely authentic Neapolitan pizza! Pizza Verace Napoletana. Maybe one of the best pizzeria in England - use of exceptional ingredients and masterful cooking, coupled with great service, result in a great dining experience! Whenever back in York, they will see us going back! As location, the pizzeria is comfortably located in the centre of town, quite small in space, the atmosphere is really good. Really enjoyed the simple yet beautiful use of wood and ceramic tiles, all along the pizzeria.

To begin, you could not ask for friendlier or more attentive staff. We booked for 4:30 p.m on a Sunday and didn’t have to wait for our table as it wasn’t particularly busy. By the time we left, the restaurant was full with a great atmosphere. We ordered the Crocche Di Patate to start which were prefect with a crispy outer and a gooey inner; what’s not to like! To the main event, the pizza. This is what we came for and we were not disappointed. Great structure in the crust, enough charring and super flavours. It’s probably the best pizza I’ve had in the U.K. We finished with the Rum Baba and the Torta ricotta e Pera. Both exquisite. We will be back!

Hands down, the best pizza we’ve ever had! Even our daughter, who doesn’t usually sit down and eat all her dinner, literally had all of her pizza. The pizzas are seriously delicious and despite the fact that it’s mainly carbs, you don’t feel heavy / bloated after at all! They were very accommodating- they don’t have a kids sized pizza on the menu, but they were super happy to make one just for her, with her choice of toppings. Staff is super friendly, especially the lovely Elena. We’ll be back for sure!

I walked by this pizzeria in York by chance, I could not resist and tried it! I admit I was surprised by the quality of the 🍕. I tried a frittatina cacio e Pepe as starter, it was delicious. The dough is Neapolitan style, it was not too salty and easy to digest! I loved it and highly Recommend it

Lovely little place that we took a chance on. We were quite lucky and managed to grab a table as we hadn't booked. If coming to York again I would definitely book this in advance. Best pizza in York hands down, owners and staff are all wonderful too 🥰 this has been our go to all throughout lockdown. We tend to order in but decided to go in and pay them a visit. The owners immediately treated us like friends and made us feel at ease! We had a pizza and starter each and despite the restaurant being very busy we hardly waited at all. Incredible restaurant at the heart of York: the traditional Napolitanian pizzas are prepared with delicious dough and great quality ingredients. You could not wish for a better place to eat proper Italian pizza in York! I even asked if I could have a special pizza that they did a few months ago but that wasn't on the menu anymore and the chef happily made me one. This is the best place in York for authentic Italian pizza, like you would have in Naples. Elena's smile and great mood alongside the chef's talents make this the perfect evening dinner. Service is quick, the produce are fresh and tasty, and everything is well priced. We love to take out to eat in front of a movie with some wine, but if you eat in, you'll have a chance to be immersed in a cozy Italian atmosphere. It feels like you are there in Italy.

Absolutely delicious pizza, the pizza bases are wonderfully stretchy and fluffy, the sauce is subtle so it doesn’t over power but still there and the toppings just right amount to balance out the flavours so you can taste everything. Warm and friendly staff, clean and light premises with the kitchen open so you can see what’s going on and feel the warmth of the oven. 100% would recommend!

Not sure if this just goes for take away but was very disappointed with the pizzas. Ordered 3 last night, everything was falling apart. The dough was soggy and the toppings practically sat in a soup, maybe that’s just Neapolitan style, but just too soupy for me. If I’m in York again I’ll probably give it another go eating in rather than take away because the ratings are good, and it did smell delicious, just couldn’t eat it with my hands.

Great thin crust pizza - very Napolitan style. Prices are decent toom. I got a special of the day (Maradon) which had a big ball of buffala mozzarella in the centre. My partner got the normal Buffala pizza and he enjoyed it a lot. Would recommend

Cannot fault Cresci! Yes they only serve pizza's but hey, they are great! Firstly I was overly impressed with the imported San Pellegrino Lemon drinks. Tasting this set me up for a delicious meal to follow. The pizza was perfect in size & a brilliant price! If I had to pick anything bad about was the experience it would only be that I had to sit outside on a smallish table because the place was so busy... But I would return to that table anytime for this food! Great work guys!

I've been to fast food restaurants that served food slower than this place. We were seated without a reservation and had our order taken not long after. We thought we would be in for a wait but it must have been less than 5 minutes until our food came out. My husband really enjoyed the pizza but I wasn't a keen, I thought it a bit soggy. It could be down to pregnancy appetite though. Very traditional pizza don't expect a pepperoni or ham and pineapple here.

Dining at Cresci is a real Neapolitan experience. The pizzas are simply the dough and the ingredients you'd expect in Naples, with a great variety of toppings, reasonably priced and a day of the week when wholemeal dough is also available. Bernardo (try his starters and the amazing desserts), Elena and the pizzaiolo have created a simple but carefully planned formula that cannot go unnoticed if you're in York. The atmosphere is professional and friendly at the same time and while you're left salivating over your pizza or a simply luscious cannolo or rhum baba', you can't help but feeling how these guys work very hard to keep their well above average standards up. Well done the team.

They advertise themselves as verace pizza napoletana, and it is - absolutely true. If you want to know what that means, go and give it a try. The pizze are superb, the staff friendly, and the wine selection perfectly adequate for pizza. The only setback might be that they're very popular, and in the evening, things can get a bit frantic. But they handle even that with grace. Oh, yes, and the price is real: 3 pax & a bottle of crisp white wine from Benevento for 60 £. Way to go! Bravi!

Ate here for lunch during a trip to York over the June bank holiday and had a lovely time - the menu & specials covered loads of options & if you've any allergies or intolerance to certain foods then they're only too happy to make sure you're catered for too. The place screams 'fresh!' & all the staff were incredibly friendly & helpful... both pizzas myself & my wife had were authentically delicious too - a far cry from the tried & tested chain pizza places that dot about most town centres. Best pizza in York hands down, guaranteed by the VPN (Original Neapolitan Pizza) Association, based in Naples: only a bunch of Pizzerie in the UK can claim a similar accolade, and it makes sure that every bite you take is up to standard! If you don't know what real pizza should taste like, try theirs. Be warned though: no pineapple pizza here! Trust the hype: their pizza will blow your mind! Wish I lived in York!

Usually if a restaurant is catching my attention I follow them for few weeks to see how the food looks like, how are the reviews etc. Did the same with Cresci. These guys really convinced me to come and visit them. We were welcomed with a warm " Buongiorno " and a friendly smile which I think in these days it's so needed. As starters we had some bruschetta. The sweetness of the tomatoes brought me back in childhood, when early in the morning my grandmother was bringing some fresh tomatoes from her garden. The softness of the mozzarella went perfectly with the crunchy bread and the basil just added more deliciousness to the dish. As pizzas we had Bufala & Margherita. All times favourite, simple and traditional. I instantly knew that the sauce is made with San Marzano tomatoes. Full of flavour. The dough thin & delicious. And there was a woody scent and subtle taste, really nice experience. I will definitely come back here! Price wise i would say affordable: 1 coffee, 1 orange juice, bruschetta 1 portion and 2 pizzas 24£. For me that is excellent, especially that the quality of the food is very high. So I would definitely recommend you to give it a try, you won't regret:)

The best authentic Neapolitan pizza in York. The dough is so digestible that you can easily eat more than one pizza. The ingredients used are very fresh and tasty. I tried a lot of different pizzas and they are all perfect, but my favourite one is Artilove, with artichoke cream, It's superbbbb! You go to this place as it's stated on its name primarily for pizza. All bottom crusts have charred parts that you may have to peel off or accidentally eat!! That should have been avoided.

Yummy pizza. I personally prefer Rudy's in Manchester or liverpool as it is a little less salty. Great service. A place to grab a quick bite rather than spend too much time in there as quite cramped. Lively and would be great place to get food before/ during a night out. Not very romantic but might a good place for a first date as can have eaten quickly so good excuse to leave if you aren't getting on. No baby change, we used the floor upstairs.

Taste of the Napoli style pizza in York! I went in September with my family..my 2 y.o. son had finally his first pizza in a real pizzeria and was happy that he had the chance to taste such a well done one, ( I am from Napoli) staff was very friendly and professional, we all had a lovely experience. Deliveroo then made a huge issue about changing the address afterwards (the two addresses were only 20m apart from each other). Cresci is part of a network of independent Pizzerias that are dedicated to Authentic Naples-style pizza. The menu is quite focused on this specialty, with some regional starters and desserts. The dough is perfectly fluffy, the tomato sauce super fruity and with perfect acidicity. For pizza purists, I recommend the Magherita or Bufala Mozzarella, so you can really appreciate the handcraft. The staff is super friedly and easy going. You always feel that the place is run by owners who care about the quality of their product, customers, and staff. It's like a little Naples within York.

This is the real pizza from Napoli!! I would recommend it, even in Italy...the dough is perfect! It is soft, light with a puffy crust, as the neapolitan pizza should be. The incredible taste of the pizza comes from its products, which are the authentic ones from Campania and of premium quality (Vesuvio's cherry tomatoes, buffalo's mozzarella, etc). If you want a real dive into the neapolitan food culture, just request Armando (the pizza chef) who knows his stuff. Prices are absolutely fair and the staff is polite and super welcoming.
