What a find! The most fantastic Italian. Very attentive staff, amazing food and exceptionally welcoming to a 9 year old. An evening made, thank you! We enjoyed garlic bread and a Rosemary and salted bread for starters, then a kids pepperoni, arabiata and a carbonara. Desert was a Tirramisu and Americano. We shared a bottle of fresh and light Soave. All of which we would have again. The food was amazing and service exceptional. I can't recommend enough! We will definitely be back!

Wow, we had an amazing meal here!! They happily accommodated my request to change something about my chosen dish and the meal/service/ambiance was just perfect! I ordered a set meal (we shared the starter of Capra Grill) and chose pasta for my main course (Casareece Pasta E Pollo) and OH chose Calzone Con Carne Piccante. 2x drinks each and a very reasonable priced meal. Shame we were too full to have desert!

Last week me and my partner went to this restaurant. Overall is not bad, but we waited for a long time to get our food. I like my pasta and fried squid.

Amazing authentic Italian food, me and my partner had the chicken and mushroom risotto and it was delicious. The waiters and waitresses were lovely and even accommodated us a better table change. Restaurant was packed on the Saturday so as it's a small restaurant I recommend going on a weekday to enjoy a quieter more romantic meal if that's what you're after.

Nice little place large portions, friendly staff and not a bad menu the 2 courses fo 16.95 was decent enough. Couldn't get through on the phone and I think others were having the same issue but turned up and manged to get seated.

We visited on a busy Friday evening with another couple and sat at one of the window tables (the seats are not suitable for everyone as they are just a boxed seat with cushions and both high & shallow). The food was great, I'd recommend the King Prawn salad! We had starters and mains, soft drinks and shared a bottle of wine. The bill was £75 (for us 2) as we split it. The place was rather noisy, the music was nice but loud and we had trouble talking/hearing over the top of it at times. The toilets are ground floor and we're clean & tidy.

Food, service, and everything was incredible: Service was amazing, all of the waiters were extremely nice, and the timing was amazing (starters almost as soon as we ordered them, and the main course arrived pretty fast!) Food was also great! All in all a fanntastic restaurant that I'd absolutely recommend :)

My first time eating at this restaurant was disappointing! The food was okay but definitely not amazing. The experience got off to a bad start with our bottle of white wine being served at room temperature! Who would ever do this other than a restaurant that really doesn't know what they are doing. When I mentioned it to our waitress, she looked at me blank, she honestly didn't know what the problem was! If you are out for a special occasion or just visiting York, avoid this restaurant! There are way better places to eat!

Booked for mid afternoon on a Sunday. The food was very good indeed. Service was friendly, quick and efficient. Definitely recommend Mariano, we will return and that’s the best rating anyone can give really.

Great food and service. The restaurant seemed quite empty compared to some of the others around it. The risotto was thick and creamy with a decent flavour. The bruschetta was a bit overloaded with large juicy tomatoes with only a few sunripened ones but the pesto made up for it. Overall very impressed.

I love pizza. But I can’t eat gluten, and I can’t eat dairy. This is the first gluten-free pizza I have ever had that was as close to the real thing as virtually possible. It is clear that someone has put a lot of thought into it. Experimented a lot. And then created a dough that works for us, poor gluten-free pizza weirdos. Respect. Marzano folks, you’ve made my trip to York worthwhile.

Just what we were looking for! Lovely little modern Italian restaurant with great food and amazing service. The food came quickly and was hot and fresh. Superb friendly service, great food, but come on guys - £2 because I asked for a bit more spice in my meatball penne? Just silly really. “£1.95 for extra veg to be exact”… I understand the increasing costs and the need to balance… but I think my extra Chilli must’ve cost you an extra 5 pence. When I questioned it the waitress was equally embarrassed but said it’s just the way it is. Shame as just felt like a good experience was spoiled a bit as we paid and walked out the door. Never mind - plenty more great Italians in York!

This was our first visit to the Marzano and to be honest ot was a great dining experience. We were warmly greeted on our arrival ( do pre book as this restaurant is very popular ) by the chap at front of house ,shown to our table and our waiter took our drinks order ( really tall chap who was absolutely spot on ! ) then we had some foccscia bread & olives whilst we awaited our starters which were the king prawns in a lovely sauce plus goats cheese with caramelized onions with salad on bruschetta. All delicious ... really good. Now for the mains my wife had the sea bass with veg on crushed potatoes and I had the meatballs on rigatoni pasta , both dishes were cooked well and tasted superb but if you had to pick a winner it was the sea bass. The ambiance was nice , decor modern and prices fair so overall I have no hesitation in recommending the Marzano " Magnifico as they say in Italy "

My partner and I are visiting York for a few days and the Marzano was where we ended up eating on our first night...and we were so glad we did. Such a lovely, relaxed atmosphere with great staff too....but, most importantly, the food!!! Oh my word! THE FOOD!!! It was beautiful, out of this world... So, SO very tasty. Cooked and seasoned perfectly. I was really surprised at how low the bill was too... For food of this standard I was expecting it to be a lot more. Loved it!! Definitely recommend it on every level!!

I'm not an Italian so I can't say it's an authentic Italian taste. All I can say is it is an excellent Italian restaurant. Reasonable price, cozy environment, good ambience and excellent food. The carbonara that I took tonight was the best carbonara I've ever taken before. Thumbs up, I'm sure I will take dinner in this restaurant again next time I'm in York.

Absolutely amazing place! The staff are so lovely, friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is spacious, clean and the decor is great, even the ladies toilet! Our server Luke was so lovely, attentive, and always polite and smiling. The food was exquisite, so tasty, vibrant colours, excellent presentation. I was there with my daughter and her partner. I'm a retired chef, my daughter is a head chef, and we were both extremely impressed with every dish. We will definitely be going back to york and 100% frequenting Marzano again! Nice little spot in York for an Italian restaurant. We both had the carbonara. It was okay; a bit too creamy, it could have done with a bit more flavour. Service was very good and food arrived quickly. Pricing seemed fair, although the set menu seemed to offer the same pricing as just ordering individually off the main menu. Not a bad place, but I would order something different if I came back for another visit.

Really great restaurant! Food was absolutely delicious, fresh and served quickly. We didn't book but they managed to fit us in between bookings. We still got fantastic service though. Food was really good value for money too. They have a set menu and a kids menu, both of which have enough choice considering the prices. They also have a great selection of specials in addition to the a la carte menu. Would 100% recommend and will definitely try to go back.

Dropped in for a quick lunch with a friend. Not many there at 12.30 but it soon filled up. Nice atmosphere. I had a King Prawn salad (which was just a tad peppery for me -- purely personal thing -- but it was fresh, tasty and with plenty of juicy prawns.. My companion had Spag Bol and really enjoyed it. I had a Gin Fizz (very nice). Service was efficient, friendly and pleasant. Price was good value for money. There's plenty on the menu to try so we will go again.

Starters were really impressive and good. Mains weren't as notable. Pork belly with red wine and rosemary jus came with Bisto gravy with dry rosemary floating around in it, and the "slowed cooked" pork was barely cooked with 95% fat. The portion was small and not enjoyable. Salmon linguine came on a plate filled with water around it. Staff were nice and attentive though.

Spur of the moment, not far from where I live, decided to go to Marzano, we ordered the seafood ravioli, and the terrine frutti di mare, which consists of clams, mussels, king prawns, potatoes, in an absolutely gorgeous.......Best tomato sauce I've ever tasted, with a garlic flat bread, with a side of olive oil/balsamic vinegar dip. A good though not great Italian. All ingredients very fresh. Someone else's review said pasta portion size was small. I like to eat and even I thought the portion size were very big. Fresh, well cooked, good quality ingredients, good service. Only issue was there didn't seem to be a huge amount of seasoning/flavour. I put a lot of pepper and some salt on my pasta as did everyone in our group as it was just lacking something. I'd definitely go again though. Edit: went again this week with a big group and everyone starter and main course were very good. Service was also v good. Our group had five different desserts all of which were v disappointing. They tasted like a supermarket packaged desert. I'm not saying that's what they actually were but genuinely the taste and quality were about that level. We'll definitely go again but certainly won't order desserts.

Stumbled upon this place on a rainy Saturday afternoon in October after an afternoon shopping, then perusing various other establishments' menus in the area. Inviting, comfortable and tastefully decorated, with great music and very professional, but relaxed and friendly staff, we have not enjoyed an Italian, or any dining out, this much for a long time. Every dish was outstanding in both taste and presentation. (my wife's a 28 year chef, so we are quite particular and critical when spending to eat). The atmosphere of the place is ok, but I could smell air fresheners, which is always a big no no for a dining room. Props to the 2 waitresses who did a fantastic job managing the whole room, though the service would have been much better with the help of a third person.

However, when asked for the bill, the waitress clicked sevice charge for us but we didn't even consent to a service charge. The waitress folded the receipt with the service charge covered!. Also, my boyfriend got charged for the sauce when he wasn't notified there would be a charge for it. So we went to another waitress and she went to the manager. We got the service fee and sauce charge back. If the waitress asked if we wanted to pay for some service charge, we may have have tipped them. A bit of unhonesty here.

My wife and I really wanted an Italian meal so we looked on TripAdvisor found marzano , a handful of reviews weren't too good the rest spot on so we ignored the bad ones and gave it a try I SUGGEST you do the same staff where all brilliant they kept apologising that we had to wait for a table (10 - 15 minutes) we hadn't booked . Am I glad we waited the food is to die for it really is . Very reasonable price if you want real authentic Italian restaurant TRY IT
