We had a wonderful seafood lunch today, made all the more wonderful by the friendly, knowledgeable and very kind gentleman who served our table. The food was tasty and very well presented, the specials menu was classic but inventive; one of those places that manages to take canon flavour combinations and successfully twist them just enough to make them feel fresh and intriguing but still unpretentious. Just what my Italian family were craving. While the food was interesting and well executed, the real star was the service; friendly and absolutely impeccable. It was honestly a joy to watch someone do their job so well, seemingly so effortlessly. We also had extra accessibility needs - our family member is a wheelchair user - and all the staff were immediately warm, welcoming and made us feel at ease right away. After days of awkward restaurant experiences (where often staff didn't know how to treat or behave around someone with a disability) being treated with dignity and kindness at Sapori was so refreshing and made all the difference. It's not easy to find somewhere that makes you feel at home and special at the same time! Thank you for making our last day in York so memorable. I hope to come back again when I'm next in town and I'll be recommending you to local friends too. Special thanks to the gentleman who was looking after us so well.

Yes, some people will say that it’s too expensive. But I say that you get the value for your money. Experience Italy / Sardinia in York at this place. I will be returning again. We booked a table for breakfast at short notice, they had no issues accomodating us. From the outset, we were made to feel very welcome and the setting was very comfortable too. I ordered a caprese focaccia and asked for bacon to be added. The service was quick and the food was excellent. I was really pleased with the coffee too, the breakfast like a little taste of Italy with a British twist. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast and look forward to trying the evening menu when we next visit

Had the best ever mocha at this little gem. It had five layers of pure delight! The waiter on hand (Monday 24th July) was very good. Service was excellent. The mocha was so good that I had to try the food. And that was delicious too. Head to this place when you're in York!

Great TRUE Italian restaurant run with passion and professionalism by a team of Sardinians. We spent a wonderful and pleasant evening, had gorgeous food perfectly cooked and served and, finally, chatted with the owners. Pet friendly and humans friendly too :), found by chance. Not for those who look for a fake pizza or ketchup pasta: they serve real Italian food, sourced and cooked as it would be in Italy. Even if you're not nerdily into Italian food, give them a chance... They're seriously good. Actually, the best Italian restaurant in England.

What a lovely little place! 1st time and York and popped in Sapori trying to find a quiet place for a relaxing atmosphere as we were with our 6 year old. Sat at the first table (just as you walk in). So cozy, chilling, lovely music. The whole atmosphere is just right. Staff is amazing too. Friendly guys trying to please you. There's also second floor (more spacious). We didn't have a meal. Just coffee, wine and cakes! Let me just say: you've got to try their orange cake!!! The best dessert l had for a looooong time! Thank you! We will come again! (from Elena and the family)🍊

Expect a warm welcome here! The staff are genuinely lovely and make for a really great atmosphere. The setting of this Sardinian restaurant is so picturesque, based on the famous shambles Street in York. The venue is small but perfectly formed. I was lucky to have a seat by the window enjoying lovely views over the street outside. There is a small but adequate list of drinks, with Sardinian drinks featured alongside other well know Italian drinks. The menu is Italian. Heavily influenced by traditional Sardinian cuisine. The staff are perfectly attentive and will give you their recommendation and talk you through the specials. Portion sizes are perfect and the food is delicious - full of flavour and perfectly seasoned. I had three excellent dishes and thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Recommend for couples and small groups. I look forward to returning soon.

Eating at Sapori was a comfortable and enjoyable experience. I would definitely recommend this place when looking for authentic Italian dishes. The caprese was good, although the large serving we ordered felt quite small for 9 pounds. The vegetarian carbonara and panna cotta were absolutely delicious. I was quite impressed with the quality of these classic Italian dishes. The waiting staff could do with a bit more experience in order to make guests feel a bit more at ease, but there weren't any inconveniences. Overall, the place has a genuine and authentic atmosphere. It feels a bit newish still, but I'm sure that will disappear over time.

Nice restaurant in the shambles. Very small seating area downstairs although there is a upstairs seating area. Staff were very polite and attentive. Food was very good and arrived at our table in good time. The desserts were some of the best we have had, the portion size was larger than many other restaurants. 5 mains desserts and a bottle of wine plus a few extra drinks £130, really great value for the money.

Outstanding! Sapori is a gem tucked away on the Shambles. Wonderfully welcoming staff, a cosy and quirky setting (we ate upstairs) and oh my, the food...we had light and puffy garlic bread with cheese and tomato, amatriciana pasta for which the chef dialled down the chili for my daughter (she loved it!), mushroom risotto and the standout dish- freshly made squid ink pasta with seafood and cherry tomatoes. This was simply the best pasta we had ever eaten. 😋 Add to that wonderful desserts ( oh the tiramisu.. ), an excellent bottle of Sardinian red and a very reasonable bill and...just perfection. Thank you everyone, we will be back!!!

Superb is the only way to describe it. We are always made to feel very welcome at Sapori, Francesco and Denise are the best hosts. Stumbled upon Sapori after exploring York for the first time and it was a really pleasant surprise! We had So Ciccioneddos and the Fish Carbonara special and both were incredible. This was the first time trying So Ciccioneddos and we would definitely eat it again. For dessert we had Chocolate and Orange Cake and Tiramisu. The Tiramisu was amazing; so fresh and the flavour was so strong. We also bought some Cannoli to try and we were impressed with these too. The lemon and pistachio ones are definitely the ones to try. The staff were super friendly and happy to recommend dishes and make edits as needed. Cannot recommend trying here enough - if you love Italian food and great service treat yourself to a visit to Sapori!

Having been locked inside for 4 months, my Italian fiancée and I decided to visit Sapori for a taste of the familiar, and it didn’t disappoint. Exceptionally friendly service, a wonderful atmosphere and delicious fresh food. Dining takes place in a gazebo of sorts with open walls that are gradually closed up as the night goes on to keep in the warmth. Nothing seemed too much trouble, they even made me a spicier pizza especially. Felt very COVID safe too. Price point slightly higher than expected, but for what we received and the evening we had, we felt it was good value for money. Will definitely return soon!

My girlfriend and I decided to eat here on a horrible rain night in York. Thenlovely waitresses seated us under a heater and gave us blankets so that we could warm up. Although the menu is quite limited the options that are there are very very tasty. We ate a beef pizza with blue cheese and a Sardinian "small" pasta dish which was the highlight. We will definitely be going back when we can sit inside. The staff were so attentive and made us feel at home even with the terrible weather outside.

Delicious food. 2 course lunch special was just what we needed. Service was a bit slow, but that's just my American pronto talking. A must do for us now if we go to York it was a plasure from start to finish after we got the bill it was alot cheaper than we was expecting and felt under charger so told them to round it up to the nearest £100. Sapori is a newly opened Italian restaurant situated in the most iconic street in York. If you want to experience mouthwatering authentic Italian food with Sardinain influences, you will not be disappointed. I had the sword-fish which was delectable as were all the dishes.
