I had my water boiler replaced with a brand new one. The company is close to where I live. I requested a quotation from them online. They gave me a call straight away. Half an hour later an engineer came to assess my old heater and discuss our requirements. An hour later I was sent a quotation which was better compared to others. Installation was done a couple of days after in a timely and professional manner. I would highly recommend WPJ.

WPJ did an extremely satisfactory job for me a few days ago. The problem was correctly diagnosed, the necessary parts were ordered, and the repair was executed promptly and efficiently. I have used WPJ for several years now and have previously rated them as 5*. Unfortunately, a recent experience has left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Historically, I have only used them for anything related to the boiler (installation, maintenance, queries etc.) and for that, they are excellent. Their quotations are detailed, and transparent. Their engineers are extremely knowledgeable. Their workmanship is also excellent. I recently chose to use WPJ for a valve leak repair. Unfortunately, I ended up being charged more than expected. It was not made clear to me that an initial visit to inspect and assess the situation was chargeable for a full hour even though the visit was only a few minutes long. Perhaps it was my fault for being naive in assuming that the quotation / estimation would be free. Long story short: Great workmen, and great experience with boilers. But bad with costings for general plumbing. I have just seen that a recent reviewer had a similar experience to me!

Having just moved into my home, I booked a boiler service with WPJ and discovered my boiler had suffered water damage and was not repairable. They assessed the size of the home and were able to install a new boiler within 2 working days. They also responded to my many questions quickly and with patience. It was quite a job as the previous pipe work was not suitable and the house is also on 4 levels. Kevin and his apprentice did a wonderful job and were a pleasure to have in the house. Writing a review about a large company based on only one member of staff can be misleading. But in a valiant attempt to resuscitate my (very) old boiler and eventually replace it with a new one, I have now met 5 WPJ engineers, and I can honestly say that in every case, their efficiency and expertise could not be faulted. The advice I got from HQ was even-handed without being pushy, and the pricing was fair. WPJ gave us a high quality service. When our boiler broke we needed a new one and decided to relocate the boiler and convert to a combi system. WPJ planned and executed the installation of the new system without causing us any problems. I was really impressed with the way they helped us work out how to reroute the piping in our flat and then did the job without causing mess or problems for us, despite carpets and floorboards needing to be taken up. We've saved a load of space (where the immersion heater and cold water tank were before), our bills are cheaper and the whole system is much quieter having required a noisy pump to operate before.

I was recommended to WPJ Heating several years ago by the letting agency serving the MOD and I have never looked back. Nothing is too much trouble, however small or large the job. They normally arrive on time, but never fail to telephone if they are going to be late. They are always courteous, remove their shoes without me asking if the carpet is pale and they and fill me with complete confidence. They explain in simple language what is wrong or what needs to be fixed. WPJ fitted a great new bathroom in our rented flat. They completed to time and budget. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that painting of the doors and window wasn't included in the quote which I don't think was that clear and meant the new bathroom mostly looked great but was let down by shabby paint work on the woodwork. Brilliant Service. After having a complete nightmare with overflowing loos, we called on WPJ heating to help us. They were with us in record time, and fixed and cleaned up the mess efficiently and with a smile. While they were there they took a thorough look at our boiler and gave us advice without charging - I'd recommend them time and time again.

We chose WPJ because they were recommended by our plumber, and we felt safer with a large company with an established reputation (as we weren't personally going to be on-site for the duration of works). Their quote was second-most expensive, but I'm pleased we chose them. The job required was to entirely re-fit a (leaking) en-suite wetroom in a flat we rent out (whilst the tenants were present). Despite some initial concerns from WPJ (related to working around the tenants/their pet dog), the remainder of our experience was extremely positive. My only piece of feedback would be for the director who quoted for the work; initially we were met with (in my view) a disproportionate amount of resistance for requesting the work be carried out while the tenants remained in the flat. We felt that in a 2 bed/2 bath it was reasonable to expect the tenants to remain whilst one bathroom was re-fitted. The director's 'no-can-do' approach came across as unconstructive, and did sour the initial discussions a little, as we were made to feel we were asking too much. Thankfully, as we hoped, his team were completely capable of working around them and there were no issues. He was also attentive and provided feedback on progress regularly. When the works overran slightly (due to an unforeseen additional leak they had to manage), the fitters were extremely accommodating for our tenants (one of whom works nights). We encountered a few additional costs (which they could not have predicted), and the director was completely transparent and prompt in gaining my approval for the additional charges before proceeding. To summarise - WPJ are what you'd hope for when choosing a larger outfit, they are a reliable team who care about their brand enough not to hire rubbish tradespeople or do a shoddy job. I guess with any large company, directors have had enough experience to air on the side of caution when providing air cover for their fitters so I wouldn't hold that against them. The lead fitter and his team did a fantastic job, and were genuinely lovely guys - all the basics of being clean and tidy were a given. Our tenants were very pleased, as were we, with the quality of work. I would not hesitate to recommend them to others, or use them again myself.

Boiler install itself went without a hitch, with the engineers polite and processional throughout. Not great getting to appointment. Good during appointment. Post service has no workmanship guarantee. Post service, the boiler stopped working twice within 2 weeks of the visit. WPJ have said that there is no workmanship guarantee on a service because boilers can stop working at any time. The initial booking was for 12pm, at about 10am the engineer called to say he might be an hour late. So I expected him at 1pm. An hour later, at 11am, he called to say he might be another 2-3 hours, so I expected him at 2pm. An hour after that (around 12pm), the office called and said he would be 2 hours late, again moving my estimate to 2pm which I was fine with. Then, zero calls, at 2pm he never showed up. Considering the calls in the morning, I thought I'd just wait and eventually he'd show up but at 5.30pm after waiting in all day, I rang the office to ask what was going on and if the guy was still turning up and when I should expect him and was told that the engineer could no longer make it at all and it was too late to send anybody else 'cause they'd all gone home for the day. Needless to say, it was disappointing to hear this considering I was led to believe the entire time that I was to wait for him and he would turn up and nobody bothered to tell me any different, until I called to ask. I kept my end of the bargain and beyond, I was patient and what did I get in return? Nothing but another cold day and night. I would have expected that if an engineer was going to be that delayed and stuck on a job and your customers have no heating in winter, that a) you would tell all his following appointments that they need to be rescheduled OR b) arrange for another engineer to do the jobs instead. OR c) cancel the appointment to leave the customer time to arrange an alternative if required. None of these were done which to be frank was inconsiderate and made me feel that I wasn't valued as a customer and my time wasn't valued either. A reschedule was to be booked the following day without any consideration to my timetable until I complained because I actually had to be somewhere. They then made sure to book an engineer to be there so I could leave in time for my appointment. Again, that next day, there was no communication of whether or not he would be turning up on time. The appointment was for 11am-12pm and by 11.15 when he hadn't turned up yet, I felt compelled to call in case I had a repeat incident of the day before. Considering what happened the day before, I would have expected at least a courtesy call to reassure me and let me know he was on his way. Instead, I had to call. He arrived within the expected timeslot, had the radiators working within 5 mins and completed the boiler service quickly and efficiently so I had plenty of time to get to my appointment. He was friendly and professional. So all good on that front. I have to mention that our boiler hovers above a staircase and many engineers turn up and walk away from the job saying that it's not safe, which often leaves us for days in the cold while I search for an engineer that will do the job but the WPJ engineers have been very good. Neither have thought the job was a problem at all and they just got on with it. Overall, the service from WPJ engineers is great when they turn up. There does however need to be some improvement in customer care from the office, beyond taking an appointment and billing the customer.

The people from John Lewis said it couldn’t be done without first removing the oven to get at the dishwasher plug. Not their job.
