Recently had them in to quote for a couple of jobs. I was happy to proceed and a couple of weeks later 2 young lads were installing a radiator in my loft. The recent energy price hikes meant relying on an electric heater was silly. Took them a morning and they left the place nice and tidy. They made it look so easy I was silly not getting it done years ago. Two weeks later 3 of them were here removing a poorly installed, creaky and leaky shower for a much more professional job. They went above and beyond with this job including more carpentry work than was initially expected. Again. the place was left clean and tidy. They also sorted out faulty a kitchen tap. Very, very happy with both jobs and thankful for their quickness in replying to initial enquiries, supplying a quote and getting the jobs done. Highly recommended.

AJ Barnes recently did a complete bathroom refit for us and did an incredible job at a very reasonable price. Andrew was great at offering advice at every step of the way to make sure we got the bathroom we wanted, and also organised some fantastic tradespeople to help with the non plumbing aspects of the refit. Whenever we had any questions, he was always extremely quick to respond. He picked some great quality plumbing fixtures too that we were able to adjust with the supplier to ensure we got the finish and quality we were looking for. When it came to carrying out the work, the refit was finished after just 4 days as a result of a lot of hard work, including plastering, fitting new flooring and some electrical work. There were unexpected quirks to the original plumbing and walls, but they were brilliant at finding solutions that meant they were able to finish the work to a standard both they and we were happy with. It was really reassuring to see them taking so much pride in what was being delivered instead of just taking the easy option. I would definitely recommend AJ Barnes and we will certainly be using them again.

Contacted this Sunday in mild panic when our boiler started to leak out the bottom. Joe was quick to respond despite being away in London and gave us a rundown of the likely offenders. After reviewing the likely costs and accepting I wanted the job done, Joe booked us straight in for Monday morning soon after 09:30. At 09:55 the Plumber (Pat) arrived and quickly identified the faulty part (the cheapest of the options detailed) and quickly set about replacing it. In no time at all our boiler was fixed and we were given advice for the following 24hrs. Incredible customer service. We had a plumber (Stuart) - come out and fix our kitchen tap. Not only was he polite, professional, funny and all round delight to have in our home - he spotted a few poor plumbing jobs from our previous plumber and fixed them without hesitation, without asking for an extra fee and did it all with a smile on his face. He came to fix 1 kitchen tap, and he left fixing that, the poor routing pipes under our sink, loose outdoor tap and also explained to me how our radiators and boiler work with a few tricks of the trade thrown in. Andrew and Patrick did a great job installing an overhead shower, panelling and repositioning the bath. The wall and floor alignment needed to be addressed before installation and they found a solution and promptly went and got materials to sort it. I need MORE stars - 5 are simply not enough!! A J Barnes carried out a complete install of a gas central heating system at my home in 2006. His work back then was timely and professional. This year, as issues started to appear with the boiler and, needing a new radiator valve, I contacted them again. The install was agreed, and completed in a timely manner. The owner was extremely thorough in answering my questions and reassuring me that he would take care of my issues in my absence. In December last we contacted this company to redesign our bathroom, after having several quotes from national companies... at very high prices.... We got a very reasonable quote from A.J.Barnes company... in fact between 75% and 50% less then the previous quotations.. We accepted their quote and work was to start on the 1st February .. At 0830 on the 1st February three men arrived and started to remove all the attachments and put in the new set... It took one day and three hour the following day... to completely refurbish the whole bathroom... They did not appear to stop for lunch... The finished project was outstanding and the degree of professionalism and knowledge was second to none. I used AJ Barnes last year on three of my rental properties and I found them to be first class, quick and efficient, they also turned up when they said they would. They put in a new boiler, took out and fitted a couple of bathrooms, connected up a new kitchen, radiator etc. No issues, no problems. They provide my Gas Safety Certificates and I’ll continue using them. If you’re not using them you really should be. Joe and Matt are great blokes, know their stuff and make it happen.

After noticing a large damp patch on my kitchen ceiling late in the day , I quickly realised there was a leak coming from my solar boiler. After calling various companies it became apparent that finding an emergency plumber that specialises in renewable energy was going to be difficult. Thankfully I got hold of Joe who was able to talk me through shutting off the water to the tank. He also reassured me that my ceiling wasn't going to fall down! Matt attended the next morning and located the leak. He advised that due to the age of the system (3 years) that the parts may be under warranty. I give them 3 stars because they fitted our central heating within a day, but now we need the boiler serviced to keep the warranty going they have let us down under the excuse they didn't get a confirmation when I sent an email straight away to confirm the date. They said they'll try to come around that day (since they forgot our appointment) and never turned up. They didn't even have the courtesy of letting us know or trying to fit us in another day. Apart from that, no manners on the phone asking "where's the boiler" instead of "what's the address" and assuming the customer would answer the question appropriately. When they get around to do the job they are good workers though.

The company's response time, expecially to urgent requests, is second to none. The latest issue was a problem with my hot water boiler. Following my phone call, a technician called the next day at the promised time. The problem was quickly diagnosed and, sensibly, checked with the product supplier (Worcester) by telephone, who confirmed the diagnosis. The replacement part was ordered there and then by telephone and I was given a date two days ahead when the part would be delivered and installed. The part was installed at the time stipulated and the boiler returned to full functionality - hot water again! AJ Barnes' staff are polite, have a sense of humour and their workmanship has always been tidy with no fuss. I repeat, I have no reservations whatsoever in recommending this company for central heating and plumbing work.

The job was to fit a new boiler in a property, which formed part of the conversion of an old and rather grand house. The new boiler is a combi condensing boiler, the previous one was older with cold water storage tanks in the loft and a hot water cylinder. A new gas supply was required from the basement to the first floor and also a number of new radiators. Because of the change of boiler type and the structure of the old building it was not a straight forward job. However it was completed in less than three days and finished in a good and tidy manner. In brief I am very happy with the result.
