I had an intractable heating system problem in a large old house, which led to years of boiler failure/ problems. When replacement became inevitable, I looked for quotes. Rather than just sell me a new boiler, YPH identified the underlying issue, and proposed a low-cost partial redesign of the system. End result is that the new boiler has dramatically higher efficiency, transforming the house. Good team, highly professional. Not 'cheap', but transparent costing, good value, delivered on budget.

I have had trouble with my gas boiler for the last few weeks, I found York Plumbing & Heating (YPH) boiler company on the web and so glad I did, Chris from YPH came around and checked the boiler identifying the problem and got it all sorted out. Chris, Nick and the team team at York Plumbing & Heating are my go-to plumbers in York. I started using them a few years ago when my boiler broke down just before Christmas and I couldn't believe how speedily they got back to me and Chris essentially saved my Christmas. Since then I get my boiler serviced every year with them and if I ever have a little niggle, they are always quick to advise, or pop around and solve it. Chris and his team installed central heating using Honeywell Home system. They were professional, friendly and reliable. The heating system is great and so easy to use. Having been left in the lurch by a previous engineer with no heating or hot water I contacted YPH desperately in need of instant support. I was greeted warmly by a lady who understood my predicament and did her best to ensure she could get an engineer to me that day. From Emma's friendly efficient help every time I called the office with numerous specific needs to fit to round my work commitments, (which never phased her, nothing seemed too much trouble she took it all in her stride and sorted everything out for me). Joe had a long day of hard work installing the new replacement boiler, ensuring it was fully working in the day. He was friendly and professional, his work was brilliant. We rang YPH after getting extortionate quotes from other suppliers to replace a back boiler with a new combi boiler. Chris responded immediately to our enquiry and less than 24 hours later we had a visit, quote and a start date. The quote was significantly lower than any other supplier, the installation was carried out to a very high standard and the team who carried out the work were ultra professional and, considering the work they had to carry out and the problems our old house had to throw at them, remained cheerful at all times! They made very little mess and cleaned up after themselves at every stage. We were so impressed with their work we asked them to continue on and replace 10 radiators at the same time. Best decision we ever made. New shiny boiler and radiators all installed and working perfectly within a week of first contact. We would have no problem in recommending Chris and his team to anyone who wants a professional job at a reasonable price.

YPH came to fit us a new Worcester Bosch condensing boiler to replace our old one of many years. The quote was very competitive and the boiler was quickly and very efficiently installed. We are really pleased with the Boiler and has saved us over £300 on the gas bill. They also fitted us a new MKM kitchen and the end result is brilliant. We can highly recommend YPH for all plumbing and heating requirements. October 2018 Needed a new thermostat. Chris recommended a Honeywell Lyric wireless type. To replace the original as the display had broken up. He wired this up and downloaded the app onto my phone quickly and efficiently. Plus full demo and we are up and running with complete control. After purchasing a property that had an issue with the boiler, we were told that it would need to be replaced and given a quote to complete the work. My husband wanted to check if this was the best price available and this is when he came across York Plumbing and heating Ltd. The quote they provided was not only cheaper, they were also able to complete the work the next day meaning that we could move into the property as planned. From the start we felt confident we had made the right decision, Chris came round to the house to check that the house was suitable for the boiler that we wanted and that the work could be completed as advised, then when the plumber arrived to install the boiler he was polite and very hard working. All our questions were answered and he got on with the work. Once completed he fully explained how to use the boiler. The next day Chris arrived to collect the payment and confirm that we fully understood how to use the boiler and advise that they would be happy to complete the Yearly services on the boiler and this was important to ensure that the warranty remained. I moved into my house in August 2011 which had storage heaters downstairs only, after a very cold expensive winter I decided enough was enough and was going to invest in a good central heating system before the next winter. I got 3 quotes from various companies and decided to go with Chris at York Plumbing and Heating after a consultation and discussion about my requirements and where to put things. I have no hesitation in awarding 5 stars to YPH. This is the third firm we have tried in 6 months. A good customer experience starts with good communication. It helps that we can call an office landline rather than an a busy engineer’s mobile, and Emma who staffs the office answers the phone and is helpful and efficient. Chris and his colleagues have been extremely thorough in diagnosing faults and issues with our oil central heating system, and finally, after months of frustration, we now have a fully functioning system. It’s been expensive, particularly in view of the money we have spent with other firms, but I think it has been worth it. Chris followed up his last visit with a courtesy call and email to check that everything had gone ok and he asked if YPH had exceeded expectations. In this day and age, when generally poor experience means that your hopes are rarely high, I would have settled for ‘met expectation’. But in this instance, I can honestly say that expectations have been exceeded. A big thank you to Chris and his team. I am waiting to learn what YPH charge for annual servicing and will compare this to quotes from other companies. If it is competitive, I won’t hesitate in asking YPH to look after the three boilers here at the property. My thanks again!

Looking for a replacement for our ancient combi boiler, we selected York Plumbing and Heating as by far the best value quote. Our boiler broke down and needed replacing in February. We called 5 companies who all visited us and gave us quotes. We chose York Plumbing and Heating because we were impressed with the speed of their response, the friendly yet professional nature of Chris, the competitive quote and the fact that they could fit us a new boiler in 3 days time (unlike others who said it would be in four weeks time, not what you want to hear in February!). Graham duly arrived at exactly 8am 3 days later. He worked solidly for 3 days replacing the boiler, installing a new gas pipe, power flushing the whole system and fitting a new radiator. Our house has been transformed, we never realised how bad the old system was but the house is so much warmer then before. We called YPH after our boiler broke, unexpectedly. Chris came to quote and was friendly and professional, taking us through exactly what he would do to ensure our system was ready to support the new boiler. The flushing of our system was a real eye opener. It was so clogged up, we couldn’t believe how dirty the water was that was being pumped round. He got to the root cause of a few issues other plumbers were unable to solve, by really taking the time to problem solve and understand our system. After a lot of hard work, Chris has our heating working more effectively and efficiently than ever. We also asked for Nest smart heating to be installed, which Chris did, giving us advice about where best to place it and how to use it effectively. We got back from our holiday to find the boiler had finally give up the ghost, so we gave Chris a call. He said he would call to see our system and would be here in 3 to 4 hours. True to his word he called within the time he quoted and said he would put a quote together that evening. He texted me that evening to say they could start the work the very next day! A few months ago me & my partner got a new boiler fitted by York Plumbing & Heating and was very happy with the work they did, I believe there names were Chris and Joe and they were very professional and friendly, we spent £2700 with York Plumbing and Heating and had planned on using them in the future many times and spending lot's more money with them, since then things have unfortunately gone down hill quickly. I had arranged to have my shower door down taken and a new one put up on Monday 9th December but got a phone call on the morning of the 9th by I presume the receptionist to say that somebody had been in a accident and would be off all week (not a problem as accidents happen) so we arranged for it to be done on Tuesday 17th December at 2pm. As 3pm approached on Tuesday 17th and nobody had turned up I rang and got told that the job wasn't down in his diary (that's your fault not mine) but she would ring up and get back to me, nobody did. On Wednesday morning I rang up again to find out what was happening and was told that it would be chased up straight away and I would be rung back, nobody called back, I repeated this on the afternoon of the Wednesday and the morning and afternoon of the Thursday, every time getting told that I would get a call back and didn't. It is incredibly frustrating that I have to write this review and am only writing it as the owner seems to respond to these reviews and I would like an explanation from him why all this has happened as I seem to get nothing from the person on the phone that he is employing to get his company business. After the shower door had been fitted I had planned to use you again next year to get new radiators in the house and sign up to your 10 year plan but unfortunately this is looking less likely to happen which not only loses you money but me 2 guys that I know work very hard. I believe this has been a very fair review as many people would be so annoyed and just dish a 1 star review out without taking into account the 5 star excellent work that went on prior to all this. Our boiler in the house we had just bought gave up the ghost on boxing day 2012. With a toddler in the house a replacement boiler became an urgent priority. We rang YPH after contacting several other firms to get quotes. Chris had no problem coming round in the evening between christmas and new year to look at the work needed and was extremely thorough checking details for the new location of the boiler. Checks included removing sockets to check which way the cables ran and looking for other potential problems or hazards. He explained the type of boiler he would recommend and explained how it would work to us. We also requested a larger radiator to be fitted in the kitchen at the same time. He made some excellent suggestions from listening to our needs such as a wireless thermostat. The quote was received quickly (by email the next night) and we decided to proceed as Chris instilled us with a lot of confidence in him and his company. The job was done to an excellent standard and each night the fitter (Richard) made sure he tidied up after himself. When we asked for a second radiator to be altered to be bigger it was no problem and was done within the day. On completion of the job he gave a full demonstration of the new boiler and its features. He also completed all necessary paperwork for the boiler to be registered. Chris then came round for a follow up visit to make sure we were happy with everything - which we were All in all we are very happy with YPH and have already sang their praises to many friends. Excellent customer service, knowledgable and trrustworthy and I would have no hesitation in using again / recommending to anyone. I would like to give a massive thank you to both Chris & Richard for a fantastic customer experience. My wife, children and I were freezing when our combi boiler packed up. OK, our Baxi Bahama boiler was pretty old, but we'd had plenty of years good service and several repairs under a Domestic & General breakdown protection contract. Then we saw the AA offer of a service for £59 and took up their offer. Satisfied, we decided to take out an AA home emergency contract which (unlike D&G) included an annual service. An initial inspection ( a formality, so they said) was all that was needed. Two days after the inspection, the boiler started leaking. A call to AA late Monday afternoon brought promises a-plenty. An engineer that night - didn't appear. One first thing Tuesday - no, only a phone call mid-morning to say the boiler hadn't passed inspection because of a slightly cracked insulation pad (nothing to do with the subsequent fault) which I'd have to pay for and have replaced before an engineer could look at the boiler. I cancelled the contract and asked for my money back. Then rang D&G whose contract still had a fortnight to run. They promised an engineer the following Monday! i.e. a whole week without heating or hot water!!! Having seen an advert for YPH in the Selby Journal, I rang late Tuesday morning and Chris was at our house by 1.10pm. Discussed repair, but faster and more economical to put money towards a new boiler. Decided to bite the bullet and gritted my teeth for an expected bill of about 2.5 - 3K. Chris phoned with a quote that evening - well under 2K. Boiler fitted on Thursday. Excellent service - swift, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. YPH has gained a very satisfied and potentially loyal customer. No more breakdown contracts with big organisations for me - from now on, it's local every time!
