Reviews of The Tippling House
L. V.
A delightful small bar with a great range of excellent whisky, primarily Scots, but some international as well. Some very rare malts available and not excessively priced. Great cocktails, too. A quiet location probably not suitable for large noisy groups. It's downstairs.

Blown away by The Tippling House experience this evening. 5 course tasting meal with paired cocktails each course. The food was fantastic and the cocktails really set the evening alight. Creative approach to dining and drinking, didn’t know this type of experience could be found in Aberdeen.
Highlight was the beef paired with an old fashioned made with a blend of Scottish and Japanese whiskeys.
When you would normally be £10+ for a cocktail alone, £65 for 5 courses and 5 cocktails seems exceptionally good value but the quality was not compromised in the slightest.
Being extremely picky, the venue had a bit of an odd smell as we walked in, but we quickly became accustomed to it once the drinks were flowing.

The Tippling House is a brilliant place for cocktails or indeed any form of drinking. The variety and imagination shown in the drinks menu really is special. I spend a lot of time in London and the Tippling House compares well with most places I've been to in the capital. Exciting presentation is nothing if the drinks don't taste right; thankfully they do. All I can say is that if you're in the city and you don't visit, you really are missing out on one of the UK's best bars.

This is arguably the nicest cocktail bar in town. Lovely people, making lovely things, doing what they clearly enjoy doing, very well. Go. Enjoy.

Visiting Aberdeen for the weekend and the options for a nice drink and meal are limited.
tippling house needs to be on your list. Intriguing set cocktail list but they will also make your favourites and pretty much anything else you want to try.
Exceptional table service and atmosphere with some matching chillout music.
Food again was superb.

Really love this place! Always bring my friends and family here who are visiting Aberdeen to show off this gem. Love the chill vibes. Drinks are on the higher-price-side but I’ve never had a better cocktail than here, and the good crowd, friendly staff, and comfortable atmosphere make it well worth it.
T. M.
Always a great night, staff are so attentive and knowledgeable. This is the number 1 cocktail bar in Aberdeen for sure.
T. C. S.
Best cocktails I've had in a long time.
Would highly recommend anyone who wants a secluded spot on a busy area great for a date or Just casual dining and drinks. Friendly staff Also. 5star.

Was in here with the other half for the 5 course tasting menu and of course a few drinks. Couldn't fault anything. Had a great night and the food was delicious. The tasting menu is amazing value for money. Will def be going back again
S. E.
Tasting menu was very nice and cooked to perfection and all cocktails very original, unusual and very tasty. The service was also very good. I wasn't too keen on the ambience - a bit too dark and cold. Some background music would be also nice as it was awfully quiet at times.
EDIT: I didn't realise the rule for music applied to restaurants. My apologies - if it was possible, I'd add half a star :) 0

This place a is a real gem that I did not know existed! The cocktails are very unique and different and the Three Sisters is a delight! If you are looking for a place to go for drinks in the midst of the madness of the world today, I would highly recommend this place as the procedures and social distancing measures they have in place are good and for the first time since before lockdown, I felt safe in a public place!
G.
We really enjoyed the cocktails. We tried the colloquial, three sisters, Japanese cocktail and wax-on wax-off. They tasted very delicious.
C. D.
Outstanding service. Friendly staff. Delicious food. Fabulous cocktails and the brunch is sublime 👌
Helped us surprise our daughter for her 21st and couldn’t have been kinder.
Definitely be back. Highly recommend.
K. H.
Wow! This place is amazing. The drinks menu is extensive and features a fabulous cocktail list. Staff are wonderful - so friendly and knowledgeable! Nicki and Jamie made our night ☺️ The interior is gorgeous, too. Can’t wait to return!
I. M.
Great deal fron Itison. Cheese platter with selection of wines.
We finished it off with 3 other tasty dishes.
Staff, Patricia, was an informative hotels.

After undergoing a refurb, the bar is now more open with banquette seating. However I think it lacks the charm that previously was there. The marble tables feel out of place with the tartan seating. The staff remain lovely and are super attentive and great at cocktails. Worth a try as drinks are about average for the area
G. D.
I have visited this place so many times and never been disappointed. Selection of cocktails is spectacular, service is really good and food is fantastic. I love the fact they serve nibbles till very late, very rare to get that quality of food that late at night. Would definitely recommend to anyone!;)
C. M.
Nice little hidden speakeasy style bar in the city centre. Small menu, but large amount of spirits so you can ask for an off menu cocktail from the award winning staff. Wine, champagne and craft beers also offered.
The bar offers locally sourced food and serve till late.
Cocktails range from about £7 onwards, but is highly recommended.
A. C.
Sophisticated cocktail bar hidden away under Aberdeen, only seemed to seat perhaps 30 people, so room was tight but sat at the bar with my partner. Incredibly knowledgeable staff with friendly service. A bit pricy, but worth it! Drinks were delicious, and bartenders offered to make anything even if not on the menu.
Interior was dark and moody, which music playing at a comfortable level. Tables for two and booths were available but occupied in visit. Long table near enterance for larger groups. Toilets were clean, whole place look well maintained. A hidden gem!
P. H.
Food was amazing...just the right amount, and to be honest what was even better than the food were the staff...top notch!
A. C.
Amazing place, atmosphere, cocktails out of this world and service just 🤩🥂🍹
N. C.
Nice and quiet place to sit and drink. Slightly overpriced as expected. On weekend night you are really paying for the absence of loud music which is worth paying extra for.
L. K.
Went to Tippling House for restaurant week. I really liked the variety of the menu. We had diverse food preferences in our group, and everyone had something delicious. It was a busy night, but the staff were super nice.
N. A.
booked the Whiskey Tasting for a few of us and it was wicked!!! the bar/venue is real cosy, nice calm atmosphere and staff were on point. Our host for the Tasting was a great laugh, very clued up on Whiskey and It’s history, great sense of humour and relaxed session. Would recommend the Whiskey Tasting and/or a night out their anytime.
M. R.
Great little bar, lovely atmosphere, very chilled.
Was nice
M. B.
Great drinks and service. Highly recommend
B. C.
Wonderful cocktail bar! The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and the drinks were delicious!
J. C.
Great service, nice place and good options of drinks.
J. C.
Giving 5 stars as I could not fault a thing. Atmosphere, quality of food and drinks, facilities all on point. But the real strength of this establishment is the staff. Every single one of them happy, knowledgeable and faultless service.
B.
My favourite bar in Aberdeen, hands down.
The laid-back atmosphere, the talented and lovely staff, the attention to detail with decor, it's all fabulous.
I'm forever asking for non-menu items and they rise to the occasion with gusto, every single time.
I can't recommend Tippling House enough.
C. B.
Lovely atmosphere, delicious cocktails
I. P.
Wow, such nice place. Great artisan cocktails and atmosphere, really nice to sit on the bar and speak to the bartenders and see them at work. Yes the price of the cocktails is more then usual but if you're coming once in a while for a nice evening it is well worth your cash.
n. p.
Very good cocktails here and a wonderful pineapple gin. One member of the team though was very rude to me and my wife. Suggesting we had to leave as there were no seats. Fortunately we ignored her and within 10 mins had a seat and some lovely drinks.
L. O.
Tippling House is a bit difficult to find if you've never been there before. You might even walk past it. After you've walked down the stairs you've reached a Mecca of great cocktails with an amazing whisky and gin selection. The staff there is very knowledgeable about everything on the menu and gladly help you with your order if you're overwhelmed by the great selection. You can also order cocktails which are not on the menu like my favourite cocktail the Mai Tai. It's not the cheapest place around but it's money well spent and I'm always looking forward to return.
J. S.
Time and time again we have amazing nights in here, be it as a couple or with groups of friends. Being accommodated for on rather busy Saturday nights because we are regulars is a lovely touch.
Staff are most likely the best for wait staff and cocktail service in Aberdeenshire in my experience.
K. J.
Fantastic place for cocktails but not for everyone. If you like a woowoo or jug of sex on the beach then this place is not for you. High quality cocktails at a premium but worth the money. 2 or 3 of them and you will feel boozy. Food was also good but not what I come to the bar for.
M. P.
Went to tippling house for cocktails on a quiet Monday evening. Both bartenders were very knowledgeable and if you don't know what to get they'll make you a taylormade cocktail according to your taste! Amazing place, atmosphere, staff.
K. W.
Since renovation, the layout seems a bit more forced than cosy bar like it used to be. A place for whisky drinkers and cocktail drinks with great lists for both. Some members of staff very good with these lists and able to provide a helping hand if you want recommendations etc. Food used to be very good but is now very posh hipster. Cost is higher end but that's to be expected for whisky and cocktails (i cant comment on the usual beverages). I'll remain a regular!
C. M.
It is how it sounds, a house where you can tipple.
The fluid of merriment is a little on the expensive side and it ain't what it used to be but still one of my go to cocktail bars in Aberdeen.
I. C.
Amazing wine, cocktails and food.
l. p.
It is a lovely cocktail bar. It's has recently undergone a refurbishment andifis looking lovely. They have a selection of their own making cocktails but are happy to any cocktail that is not on the menu. Table service is also a plus. Did not try the food, as kitchen was closed.
M. L.
One of my friends described Aberdeen as a cultural desert - this place proves them wrong. Amazing cocktails, topped up with a level of service that I haven't seen in a cocktail bar outside of the US. The prices may seem steep - but absolutely worth it. Perfect date spot.
K. L.
It's a nice bar which often has a nice vibe. Very attentive bar staff and they know their drinks. Honestly try and test them. Not the best on quiet days though. Seems to need people for the atmosphere
M. m.
Nice whiskies, excellent service
J. C.
I want to start with Jeff. He was our bartender and he was amazing. We we're lucky enough to get there early enough to have an hour to chat with him about cocktails, work, life, travel etc. He was an absolute pleasure. I told him, but I will say it here, he is a tremendous bartender. The job is 50/50 drink making to personality and he nailed it on both counts. The guy knows his stuff yet is grounded enough to be constantly trying to get better. Much respect for that attitude. Ok, enough about Jeff. The food... We perused the grazing menu. The deviled eggs were great. The black pudding scotch eggs were next level. And lastly, the poutine was amazing. I am from Wisconsin and we are quite particular about poutine and we were very impressed with the interpretation. I wish I had more time in Aberdeen to come back and work through more of this menu and make Jeff select cocktails for me. Kudos guys. Kudos indeed.
B.
Quite expensive, but worth it. The drinks are some of the best aberdeen has to offer. And the staff were fun and friendly, the waitress gave excellent recommendations and when they ran out of a drink we wanted, gave an excellent alternative.
O.
Great staff and drinks. One of the best bars in Aberdeen, also amazing cocktails. Just be nice, order something you love and bring enough money.

A hit and miss visit this time. Booked online a table for January bottomless brunch back in November however when we arrived no table had been set up as they said it wasn’t clear if the booking was for drinks or brunch. The reminder email I received the morning of the booking stated lunch and as they had my email this could’ve easily been checked if in doubt. We were told to go to a dimly lit table next to the kitchen which was than set up. We both ordered the tempura langoustine mac and cheese, one was served in a small pie dish and the other on what looked like a side plate as we were advised they’d run out of the regular bowls or plates as a lot of people had ordered it. It consisted of one tempura langoustine and some rocket on top of cheesy pasta and that was it. No crunchy topping to it or anything through the pasta, bearing in mind there was a £2 or £3 supplement for the mac and cheese on top of the £35. The only good point of the visit was the regular top up of champagne without having to ask and our glasses were rarely empty. We had a gin each after the brunch had finished and the bill came to £92, we left feeling a little bit disappointed and also hungry. Would go back as love it for drinks / small plates but definitely not for the brunch.
D. C.
Wonderful little bar - very friendly and knowledgeable wait staff.
M. T.
She says: I was looking forward to a meal here, something different from the pop and ping of the other local pubs. I was a bit disappointed to be honest. Dark and atmospheric, trendy music playing. Lovely staff. My sea bream was cooked beautifully as was the rice it was layed on, but it was overpowered by salt. Unfortunately as it spoiled the dish. Toilets were lovely and clean and freshly painted but seemed to be a lot of little spiders hanging around......
He says: dark, trendy but music was a bit hip hop for my taste. Hard to read the menu without my reading glasses. Food is a cut above the other bars in the area, my food was really tasty. If you want cheap food and drink, go elsewhere. Otherwise, check this place out.
J. L.
Absolutely amazing experience. Extraordinary cocktails and CLASS staff. You can feel like within friends and family. Guys are doing something special, definitely the place to go.

Undoubtedly, my favourite bar in Aberdeen. The bar staff know their stuff, and are always happy to make recommendations based on your spirit of choice if you don't spot anything on the menu. The food here is usually good, but the crab Mac and cheese is amazing! Also, try the haggis bon bons.
B. B.
By far the best cocktail bar in Aberdeen and the North East. Fantastic staff, excellent drinks knowledge, great food and a brilliant atmosphere. Can not recommend highly enough. Just go!
G. T.
Brilliant little bar , had a few lovely cocktails from the great staff
I. “. A. Z.
While I first went to the Tippling House two years ago we occasionally pop in to have a rant at all the condescending things that happen to us in academia. However, tonight that condescending attitude was given by a barstaff and I don't take a break from my work to be condescended by more men. Hope this bleached haired barstaff finds sensitivity and customer service someday in his career (I work part-time in a bar as well so I know the struggles of barstaff). Otherwise the experience has been great, his coworker was lovely, and I even have notes on the money pillar. Shame I'll never step foot in there again.
J. V. N.
Quiet place and quite hidden but oh my, the cocktails are great!! An oven baked Camembert is possibly one of the best ideas as a bar snack. Visit this place!
G. S.
Small and cosy place with great cocktails and good selection of various spirits, central location Prices range from average to expensive. Can pay as you order or ask for table service by friendly staff who are knowledgeable about the drinks on offer.

Classy place if you fancy splashing out a little in a cool atmosphere. I like that they always bring water when you first sit down. Cocktails are great.
K. D.
Great intimate venue for some speciality cocktails. Pricey but that comes with the territory. Due to the intimate setting it can get busy quickly. Try the place out when quiet.
A. H.
The cocktails we had were really lovely and the decor was nice but we didn't find the staff very welcoming or friendly.
P. M.
