Reviews of Royal Oak
J. P.
We stayed in the air bnb above the pub, as well as having meals and drinks down below too.
The accommodation was immaculate, huge living space across multiple levels. Bedrooms were all spacious. The only downsides were that one roof window had a dodgy handle, so difficult to open, and the TV seemed to have a black streak on the right side.
The restaurant was amazing, and the food matched it. Always a buzz around. Would stay here again for sure.
N. R.
Amazing, historical, classic pub. We were fortunate to visit on an evening whenever there was live music. Such fun. Food was delicious, drinks were good, great "heart of the town" location. We will definitely return.
B. R.
Beautiful old pub with stunning views out over the sea. Our food was lovely with a wide range to choose from and served within a good amount of time. The pub is dog friendly throughout and there are water bowls provided. Would definitely recommend.
T. P.
We were lucky enough to be in this town during Aber jazz weekend, and wondered into this beautiful little pub on our travels. Super dog friendly and we ended up staying the majority of the day in the beer garden listening to the jazz band no mean biscuit. The staff were super above and beyond!!! The food options were great and equally as delicious! And the views from the beer garden were just lush. I would happily hurry back again 🥰

Great service with great food, can't fault it. Greek lamb burger and risotto for the mains. We will definitely be back as we found it really friendly and welcoming.
A. B.
Lovely pub in centre of Fishguard. Food was the best we’ve had locally. Fish pie was rammed with tasty fish topped with creamy cheesy mash. Risotto was cooked perfectly and peppery. Kids food was tasty too and a bigger selection than most local places. Portions were generous. Service was super friendly and quick. Pub was nearby full but not noisy. I’d definitely go again.

Stayed in Fishguard for a week and this was the pub of choice. Ate there on two evenings plus also visited for drinks. Great beer garden at the back of the pub with its own bar which was great. Good views over Lower Town. Food was really good, between my wife and I we sampled 4 different dishes all of which were really tasty and good portions, my wife particularly liked the chicken supreme!! Staff really friendly would highly recommend.

Dog Friendly!! After a very wet and windy walk up at Strumble Head, tiny dog and I thought we'd pop in for a warm up. Wasn't sure if it was dog friendly, but the sign on the door said well behaved (not muddy) dogs welcome, woohoo!
First up, it's lovely and warm here! Our party headed down the bottom, plenty of seating.
Nice atmosphere, good selection of food and drink. Didn't eat on this occasion but we'll be back now we know tiny dog is welcome. Highly recommend, especially if exploring Pembrokeshire in the winter!

This place has an amazing atmosphere and the locals are so friendly. They have entertainment too for those nights you have no clue what to do. Their beer garden is awesome with stunning views, plenty of room and it's own separate bar for the evenings. Their food is good but pricey in my opinion. They allow dogs which is never a let down. It can be so busy that it's hard for staff to notice you sometimes. The lighting is lovely and ambient in the evening but if you need glasses it can be hard to read menus in that light. Other than that, great, family friendly, welcoming pub with a great variety of drinks and food.

Wonderful staff! Great seated area outside with beautiful views. The food choices are great, really good quality grub using top ingredients, reasonably priced. They were very accommodating of our dog too, highly recommend!
J. W.
Lovely, friendly staff. Friendly locals. Delicious food good portion sizes. Offered a lot of Gluten free options for our Coeliac family member. Dog friendly indoor (for clean & well behaved dogs) and outdoor garden. A staff member even brought a bowl of water for our dog, as part of the service. Fully recommend

Had a very good experience here. Booked in on a Tuesday evening. Service was friendly, attentive and efficient without being overbearing. Food came out quickly (although not suspiciously quickly), and all the family really enjoyed their meals. Portions were spot on and prices reasonable. I thoroughly recommend.
A. D.
Lovely staff, very welcoming to us and our two dogs. We sat in the beer garden and were served promptly despite it being a busy lunchtime. Jacket spud was perfect, and my wife enjoyed the veggie sausages. Will visit again if in the area.

Visited for my nan's birthday while my mum, brother and I were on a daytrip to celebrate.
Food was absolutely gorgeous, but the gammon was a tad undercooked and the portions were a tad smaller than expecting, especially as the food is on the expensive side.
Other than that, food tasted amazing and staff were really friendly. Would definitely return in future if Mike and my nan brought me here again. Thank you
P. M.
Good friendly pub, friendly staf,f best to book table. good food large selection of beers and other drinks can get a bit crowded. The only reason for four star's is they have multiple bookings on tables, but to be fair they give you a couple of hours. I'm just a bit old fashioned when I find somewhere to eat I like to stay for the night. If table is reserved they put a sign on giving time and name so you know how long you have..
D. G.
I called in on the way to the ferry.
The welcome was warm and the service excellent. Food was great too.
For a Monday evening the place was quite busy, but clearly there's good reason for that.
A good experience overall 👍
V. P.
Love this place. Tastefully decorated but still a traditional, old fashioned charm. Dog friendly. Loads of room to sit an eat, inside and outside. Friendly staff but the food is a tad expensive.
S. T.
Main food OK. Service OK. Clean and tidy. Toilets clean and tidy. Wasn't impressed with the bread and butter pudding but the sticky toffee pudding hit the mark. Misiscule amount and a little tasteless. Wasn't busy, so it made the visit better. Views from beer garden are fabulous. Would be exceptional views if weather was on our side, which it wasn't. Other down side is, where we were placed on the table, it was near the bck door, so every time someone went out or to the toilet, it blew in cold air. As weather as turned, it was a bit chilly indoors.
L. J.
Had Christmas meal here with friends. Food was lovely and staff were friendly and really helpful. Live music afterwards meant the pub was really busy but made fir a great atmosphere!
S. G.
Best place eat and drink in Fishguard
Best for family
No parking
No food 3-5 pm
C. L.
The Royal Oak has everything you would expect from a local pub and a lot more. The service and staff are excellent and cannot do enough for you and the food is amazing at really good prices. The decor of the pub is in keeping with tradition however it has a modern twist that works really well. Atmosphere is really friendly and great on summers nights out the back of the pub. You must visit this place if you’re passing through.

I had lunch here last week and was so impressed with it that I went back again for dinner.
The food is great and the staff were first rate - couldn't be nicer.
Also the airbnb upstairs is just fantastic and the hostess is an angel - highly recommended.
K. G.
Yeah we enjoyed it. Quality food and atmosphere.. Portions were on the small size mind, and I ate again soon after. Shame really as its not cheap.
N. E.
Went recently during a small getaway to Pembrokeshire - highly recommended!
Really easy to make a reservation over the phone - arrived and was greeted by really friendly staff.
Fab service (quick and friendly) and lovely menu - had the vegetarian sausage and mash potato with greens, mouth watering!
Fair pricing also and garden decorated nicely - will be coming back again!
B. C.
Absolute cracker of a boozer. Table of 9 including children all eating. Great food, great service and a cracking venue. Dogs welcome and a lovely garden. Highly recommend
J. A.
Superb meal at this lovely pub in the centre of Fishguard.
Welcoming staff, service prompt but not intrusive.
Great choice of food which was served piping hot with fresh vegetables.
Photo shows chicken supreme.
Absolutely delicious, 10/10!
Do not miss if in the area.
L. M.
Called in last minute and glad I did. The food is fabulous and great quality pub food, good value for money and friendly service. Definitely be back in next visit to Fishguard
C. C.
We arrived far too early for our meal but fortunately discovered a lovely little sheltered sunspot out back perfect for a coffee. Inside, it has a nice cosy atmosphere exactly as you would expect to find in an old stone pub. Food wise,it was a tale of two meals. My fish pie was possibly one of the best I've had; full of fish rather than potato as is often the case. My wife had locally sourced pork sausages. Maybe this is common to this part of the world but the texture was a little soft and mushy for her taste. Not bad just different and something to be aware of. The service was excellent being both friendly and attentive. Definitely worth a visit.
C. R.
Lovely food. Excellent service. Nice size garden. We called in unplanned but there was plenty of room and the fact the last invasion peace treaty was signed there sparked an Interest. Highly recommend
C. E.
Excellent food, great service. Would highly recommend. The staff were constantly on the go looking after the customers.
A. B.
Fantastic food and lovely staff all round. Beautiful decor inside with tasteful stone and wood inside and a good selection of tunes playing.
E. K.
I have experienced various pubs in Fishguard. The Royal Oak stands out..Spacious, super friendly, safe-feeing e.g. when on your own. It has a really nice atmosphere, best in Fishguard. Don't go anywhere else!! And - amazing views, perfect.
R. P.
Great place, I ate there 3 nights and food was very good. Fantastic rear patio for a summer's eve. Staff were polite and efficient and the service was speedy.
D. D.
Great pub, though the risotto we had was just watery long grain rice with nigh on raw veg. So not a risotto just rice and veg. Might want to find some arborio or carnaroli rice, stock, butter, parmesan and a good recipe or remove it from the menu.
d. s.
Arrived early no problems given table plenty of space for us and dog, food ordered arrived promptly good portions warm, given desert menu again, service was great.
S. A.
Food average, atmosphere very good. We went on a Tuesday when there was a charity folk band - really cute, would recommend.
D. T.
Lovely food, very friendly & helpful staff.
We really enjoyed and hope to return again soon (also good music playing 👌).
Thank you
D. L.
Great friendly pub with Delicious food.
Can recommend the burger and the noodle salad.
Dog friendly as well👍🏻
S. B.
Excellent meal on a very busy Saturday night.swift, polite service from well trained staff.clearly a well oiled machine which is pretty rare these days!thank you once again,we will be back.👍
K. H.
Tasty food and squeezed us in even though they were busy. Friendly staff and lovely view from the beer garden.
N. L.
Amazing pub, great staff and unreal views, beer was good, didn't eat here but I'm sure it would have been amazing food! Definitely worth a visit
T. G.
Visit for the history, stay for the lovely back garden! The story of this place is really fascinating, close your eyes and become part of the last land invasion of the UK in the shoes of a variety of glorious and less glorious participants, men and women, women dressed as men, non-soldiers dressed as an army, an army not dressed as one, a spiderweb of allegiances all within a campaign that took up less than three days in total!
...or just have a pint, they have that too:)
a. w.
Food and service absolutely outstanding 👏👌 great atmosphere, lovely beer garden 😀👌👍
P. S.
Dogs Welcome, staff friendly and chatty too..
Food lovely, we had a Family Sunday Lunch..
Please go..
Thanks you staff…
A. C.
Fabulous lunch and very friendly and helpful staff. Thank you for a lovely meal.
m. r.
Staff are always friendly and the meals are a good pub standard. The place is pretty big with a sort of locals bench next to the bar where someone is always sitting, chatting, scoffing - a bit of banter..., then you have pub tables, a back area for larger groups and then a balcony with a lovely view over a small valley... The real gem though - it's history dating back to the signing of the 1797 last invasion treaty with the French and it's involvement with various bands and festivals throughout the year!
B. C.
Excellent pub with delicious food. Chicken grilled burger was amazing. Also dog friendly.
Big patio with amazing view.
A. J.
Lunch was excellent, dog friendly and a perfect place to stop when walking the Pembrokeshire coastal walk.
S. W.
Fantastic food, reasonable prices, great looking pub. The halloumi salad was extremely impressive. Both the cheeseburger and veggie burger was delicious. Staff were very attentive and professional. Nice bit of history to the the pub too; you can see the table on which the last peace treaty for an invasion of Britain was signed.
E. S.
Thanks to The manager for topping me Pints 🍺 up, Legend!! Top place, nice one.
A. G.
Stopped for lunch here recently and really enjoyed the food. Staff are very friendly and the beer garden has some lovely views.
D. E.
Great little pub with friendly staff and great food reasonably priced.
Outdoor area has great views.
G. G.
It was really charming this very old pub. The food was very good. Even our Westie loved it.
P. P.
Good beer, great fish and chips and lovely interior (and terrace if it's sunny!)
C. M.
Decent pub, friendly bar staff.
Reasonably priced drinks. Reasonably priced food.
G. R.
Great food, plenty for vegans too.
Fab beer and music, lovely staff!!
G. K.
Thoroughly enjoyed our food and the atmosphere was great
M. B.
Very tasty lunch. Nice atmosphere. Dogs allowed in the garden. Nice view.
M. L.
Large, busy pub with large paved beer garden in the centre of the town. Decent menu.
R. T. U. S. S.
Very cool place, more upbeat and trendy type of pub, and very popular which makes for a nice atmosphere. Give it a try, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
V. F.
Busy pub with a good atmosphere and good food. Friendly service.
S. R.
We have been visiting this great pub. Weon our travels for over 20 years sadly on two occadions it suffered a demise. It had been greatly supported by the Fishguard Folk music enenthusiasts, who play quality music. At a regular weekly Tuesday session. The Kate owners opened the pub in Spring 2017, who despite the absence of Gemiminas Picture (a local gear there in the front bar, the walls had been taken down to the stone, and floors laid with flagstin s and solid black slate for the Wi smdo silks too. A goid array of drink all served well. We had a meal last year which was good quality. Keep music live, we are glad the new owners, have been sensitive to its mnemonicThanks for the continued
A. C.
Fantastic pub great food good beer and a top land lord
k. e.
Great evening prior to my nephews wedding great music and food and a lovely outside beer garden
B. H.
Great for food with doggies, appreciate the fact we could take them in with us. We were very kindly allowed to order food with 1 minute to go before they stopped the afternoon service. Asked for one of the meals to be gluten free but not convinced it truly was. We were in and out probably within 30 minutes which is perfect for us!
R. L.
Brilliant pub, staff really attentive. Great beer garden with lovely views. Good food, squid was one of the best I've had!
N. M.
Great food, quick service and we enjoyed the live folk band.
K. L.
Nice pub and historically interesting because of its link to the battle of Fishguard and the story of Jemima Nicholas. Amazingly the table on which the declaration of surrender was signed is just placed unceremoniously in a corner next to the door to the toilets with a trophy on top. If we hadn't had to longer whilst waiting for our reserved table to become free I wouldn't have noticed the plaque. It seems a shame. That aside, the food was very nice and the half rack of ribs in particular was very generous for the price, super tender and very tasty. Only other minus point is that there's no table service - you have to order food at the bar.
M. O.
Is very good and the food is well cooked
P. H.
Food really good, dog friendly
Lovely beer garden 👌
Would highly recommend coming here.
H. G.
Dog friendly pub. Excellent one way system in place. Table service only though. Decent sized beer garden with plenty of tables and quick access to toilets. Food served up to 1430 for the lunch. Served later as well for dinner.
Steak is £21 it was perhaps less flavoursome than you'd expect for that price.. Curry of the week was excellent. Cannot fault it. Onion rings are some of the best
No drinks menu which is strange considering the table service only. Still found a good pint of pale ale.
Less than a 5 minute walk from a car park, only £2 for 24 hours! Be aware it's cash only and next to a school and busy at 3-4pm with children running behind cars.
Overall a really nice pub lunch where we could sit with the dog. Some lovely views outside as well.
e. l.
Great local pub, very busy but food was still served promptly and tasted fantastic also plenty of it 👍
P. J.
Lovely pub spoilt by locals foul language at bar. Staff should intervene.
J. C.
Probably my favourite pub ever. And I’ve been to a lot of pubs. Great staff, great food, great selection of drinks. That’s a lot of greats. The sort of place you can go for a nice meal for two and a few drinks or take the entire family and all be well fed. Not many better beer gardens about either. One of those rare places where you know you’re going to get what you want and what you pay for without having to think about it.
J. O.
Excellent food. Portions a bit large for me. Good ale (a CAMRA Pembrokeshire pub of the year). Plenty of outdoor seating with great view.
E. M.
Stopped off whilst ‘moochin’, we were served by Danny. Pleasant chap who steered us to the local baguettes, they were awesome, fresh crispy and filled. Well worth a visit if in Fishguard.
m. p.
Friendly staff! And lovely facilities but don’t order the ribs! They’re tiny! Quarter of a quarter! And overpriced!
J. N.
Beautiful sea & sunset views. Really friendly & accommodating staff (so much so that they let us stay until close!)
Delicious food, and huge portions. Great selection for vegetarians & vegans too.
Delicious cask beer!
N. T.
Lovely pub with good food, good atmosphere and the beer garden out the back has a great sea view well worth a visit!
B. A.
Beautiful views from the garden a lovely pub staff were so friendly definitely be back again xx
R. W.
Great food and folk group playing was added bonus...they were brilliant
S. B.
Wonderful pub, friendly staff and amazing food! It's that wonderful booking is essential. I had a great lamb & mint burger and hubby-ish had the scampi, generous portions, puddings were 'you would have at home sized' rather than tiny restraunt sized. Should he holiday here again we will definitely visit again.
Other things that we needed to take into account was we have our dog with us, she was made welcome, she was expected to behave.
I have limited mobility, there is split level inside but all levels can be accessed and the staff are more than happy to assist.
We didn't explore tha garden but we could see beautiful sea views though the open doors.
M.
Best pub in Fishguard. Good food and good real ale.
B. O.
A lovely little pub and restaurant. Food was excellent and very tasty. Staff were very friendly and the service was quick. On Tuesday night the local folk people about 20 of them get together here and play all different kinds of instruments. Brilliant evening, will definitely be going back when in Fishguard.
H. R.
I sat out on the lovely terrace at the back of the pub on a warm day witht he sun setting and it was compatible to being in the Mediterranean. Lovely beer garden, great views and nice staff. I also ate the fish pie which was also good. Definitely worth a visit.
G. P.
Great little pub, good ale and entertainment
D. “. E.
Can't reccommend the Royal Oak enough! Had a fabulous 3 course meal last night and each was really tasty and well presented. There's a good selection of beers too, the Pitchfork being my favourite golden ale. The staff are friendly and made us feel very welcome. There is a great beer garden to the rear but we booked our table inside for an evening meal. 100% reccommend and hope to be back soon. 🙂
S. S.
Very nice. And the food was really good. It's a historical mark. Don't miss it.
T. W.
Lovely pub, looks small from the outside but inside its like the tardis lol, 10 of us had food there not one complaint would definitely go there again..
C. O. S.
Great view from the outdoor seating. Sun on your back, sea in the distance. What more can you want. Food was good 👍.
l. j.
This was recommended to us, and I can see why.
There was ample space, and the terrace had a fantastic view. The menu to varied and catered to different diets and preferences. There was also a good selection of beers and wines.
The children's menu was reasonable, and good portion size (desserts very big!) The service was friendly and prompt.
Would 10/10 recommend for couples, families or groups.
G. H. H.
Enjoyed an evening meal here whilst on a long weekend in the area.
The food was delicious, and the service was amazing! Cannot fault this place at all. Our only complaint - that we didn't book it for our first night in addition to our second night!! Hope to eat here again when we're in the area next!!
Diolch!
A. J.
Great service, beautiful veiw of the sea in the distance from the beer garden
C. E.
Lovely staff, great atmosphere, good food :)
k. m.
We enjoyed a relaxing meal for two while staying locally in Fishguard. Good pub food, with plenty of choices. We opted for steak and this was a wise choice because the meat was excellent and perfectly cooked, as requested. Portions generous without being too much, with sauces, salad, tomato, mushroom and chips. With a nice glass of wine this was all we needed. Friendly and efficient service and all adhering to CoVid guidelines. Recommended.
J. E.
Very good food. Almost missed out. We called in hoping for lunch .. 6 of us but they were full 😔 But they moved the locals over and made space for us in the bar area .. very impressed.
R. R.
Nice pub, excellent beer garden and a nice selection of beers. Food wasn't great thought to be honest. It wasn't bad by any means but was just ok!
S. T.
Food very good and plenty of it. Staff friendly and attentive. On the second visit there was live music. Jazz of course. Plenty of seating area plus beer garden. Dogs allowed in and made welcome. Most pubs send us to the beer gardens when we have the dog with us so nice change to sit in the warm. Will go back again.
A. C.
Lovely pub with great outdoor seating area with far reaching views over the sea. Great, friendly staff - would recommend a visit to anyone in the area. Can't wait to return.
J. R.
Lovely beer garden with views down the valley and over the sea. Nice varied menu, Free house so does offer individuality and good value with very friendly service.
N. B.
Lovely pub in the heart of Fishguard. Visited with family and our dog and were very welcome in all areas of the pub. The food was amazing with the rump steak cooked to perfection and gluten free puds which also hit the spot. The staff were helpful and very friendly. We would not hesitate to visit again if we are in the area.
R. 0.
It's a great place with lovely people. The atmosphere is very welcoming, even to foreigners. Dogs are allowed. The service was fast, you had to order your drinks and food by the bar. Your drinks were made immediately and you can't take them back yourself. The food didn't take long as well, and was delicious!
M. D.
Amazing food and service. Thought it was a little pricey until the chicken BLT arrived! Very generous portions. So much so, the young barmaid gave us Tupperware boxes to take the rest with us for the midnight crossing. Thank you it was lovely
A. W.
Doing a good job of dealing with the current restrictions (5th July 2021).
Great view from the garden at the rear. Standard pub grub nosh difference being the salad was worth eating!
M. R.
Extremely expensive, would tend to go somewhere else if on a budget. 3 of us ate here and had a drink and there was not much change from £60...
K. J.
Visited twice this week. Great food and service on both occasions (the muscles were particularly nice!) Good choice of guest ales, house wine was v.nice too. Food portions were good, decent kids menu. Lovely beer garden out back. Place had a great vibe, very welcoming. We’ll definitely visit again :)
S. E.
Came to Fishguard to see my son and his new life in Wales. What a great pub food great staff great views great could not ask for more spot on place
L. G.
13 years in UK and by far the best Pub/restaurant we have ever experienced. Inside very clean and tidy. Nice warm feeling, very nice and helpful staff and food... food is simply THE BEST we ever had! 3 little fussy eater boys clean plates 1st time ever! ( very nice and big portions for kids menu and all hand made not frozen food bulk bought). COD was amazing and burger like from TV add , and all for very good price. Highly recommend and will definately visit again!
C. O.
Love the food and cosy welcoming athmosphere, always visit here when we go to Fishguard
S. F.
Really friendly pub. Went for a Sunday drink and then went back the next night for some food. Delicious steak and pork loin was had and the staff couldn't do enough for you. Will definitely come back if we're in the area. Well done Dan, a young landlord but with old shoulders!
T. P.
Excellent pub, good selection of food, reasonably priced. They have put a lot of effort for people to eat and drink outside. Well worth a visit!
S. F.
Fabulous place, genuinely friendly atmosphere and really good food (the belly pork was absolutely amazing!!)
C. W.
What a transformation this place has had I tee last few years. Loved it here! Great staff, food and beer sold throughout the day. Lot of seating, dog friendly in most parts too! Also a large outdoor seating area out back, with shaded and sunny spots for those seeking either. Would definitely be going back again! Probably the nicest place to sit down and catch up with family and friends in Fishguard! 5 star!
Y. R.
We came very early and where requested to wait outside in the garden which is fair enough but were promised to be called once s table is free...we came back in as no sign of any host looking for us to see that we were not marked nor anyone knows that we are waiting.
The table was ready so we went and ordered food to wait for it for over 45 minutes and that only thanks to questions about it to staff....
Excuse of we are busy changed to it is every evening...
Once received food was good but no compensation , no nibbles offered ...
Disappointed!
F. M.
Only ate in here once and had the wild boar burger. Big mistake for me as waaay too meaty flavoured but serves me right for choosing to try that fir the first time. My brother and his wife both enjoyed their meals though. Great little pub for a drink and to sit outside and if you are lucky enough, depending on where you sit, you can see the sea.
L. A. T. C.
After a recent refurbishment, this is a much improved traditional pub with a great bar selection and a few lovely ales 😀 The menu is good too. We popped in for lunch, which was nice; but, there was a 10 piece traddy jazz band playing in the bar. They were fabulous. Corking stuff and what a treat. I gotta go back. Food music and ale. Now then 😀
R. L.
Wandering around the town on a damp night and reflecting that on-line has finally killed the High Street.
Light and laughter from the Royal, warm and convivial. Good food and beer. Thank you all.
K. E.
Great food, dog friendly, great staff
R. W.
Quick service given that the place was heaving on a Bank Holiday weekend. We ordered two main meals, a 'special' (which was very under seasoned), and a vegetarian burger dish that was nice enough. However, eating out is a game of two halves and when one person is rightly enjoying theirs rather less it does impact the 'experience'.
A. H.
Well organised, good menu, large gammon steak was v filling. Great staff. Forgot to leave the tip! I'll go back in the morning.
C. C.
Good service, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. A good range of beers and whenever I've eaten here the food has always been good. Well worth a visit!
H. W.
Excellent food! Really enjoyed our meal out on the terrace, thank you! We had Cumberland sausage and vegetarian Glamorgan sausage, with mash and seasonal vegetables and it was fantastic.

A gem of a pub with friendly, fast service and delicious, big-portion food. It's obviously very popular with locals and for very good reason! Loved it.
D. M.
the happiest well trained staff I've seen in a long time they are a credit to you you must look after them 🙂
L. B.
The staff were really helpful, the service was good. I enjoyed my food, the portion size of my dessert for the price was a little underwhelming and the size of my drink was a little underwhelming, but overall it is a nice quiet little place to eat, drink and socialise and offers nice views
C. B.
Enjoyed lunch with a drink in the beer garden decking. Dog friendly pub.
M. E.
Great pub. Friendly and very professional service. The best beer garden ive been in for a while. Highly recommended
m. g.
Had Sunday lunch, it was very tasty, meat and vegetables were lovely and tender the place is deceptive, looks small, but is big on the inside, looks like a nice beer garden to.

A lovely sunday lunch in a lovely setting. Good beer and a varied menu. Dog friendly and a nice warming fire. A nice warm ambience my brothers local and in the winter it was warm and welcoming
B. W.
Very fair priced but this is definitely quality over quantity ! Outstanding food on all 3 dishes we had while there. Drinks were good priced! Couldn't fault. Was busy when we went but didn't effect staff as had it well managed. Would recommend. Well done guys and girls superb place!
C. H.
Delicious food and very friendly staff. Pork, apple and sage sausage were divine. The mushroom on the gammon steak was the best I have ever tasted. Portions were very generous.
A. L.
Lovely food. Great atmos. Don't be fooled by small, dingey exterior.... This place is MASSIVE inside and has an incredible deck overlooking the wooded Gorge! Not brilliant for disabled but the place is built on the side of a steep hill/cliff so little could be done to assist wheelchair users! 😏
m. m.
Top food, wide range of drinks, friendly stuff, great pub and restaurant
J. E.
Cannot fault it! Staff were so friendly and helpful this afternoon. Nothing was to much trouble. Food was great, Salad fresh and plenty of, And food presented very well. Lovely food and pleasant staff. Food and drinks were served quickly. Really enjoyed our lunch
P. S.
Lovely atmosphere and good service. My meal was great but partners disappointing. Chef came to apologise and offered free drink or dessert so all good in the end. Would recommend for a good night out...
R. F.
A pricey but scrummy place for food, and a reasonably priced drink. A good range of local drink and bog standard booze. A beautifully building, a meeting of history and modern style. If you like folk then come on Tuesdays and during the folk festival. If you don't then avoid these times!
V. H.
Lovely beer garden, food was nice, staff friendly. Didn't get to see the inside as they were so busy so would be worth booking ahead
R. A.
Nice village pub with very good food at a good price. Plenty of tables are available but still they were quite full on a thursday night, be advised to book a table if you want to eat here. Easily found at the roundabout parking at short walking distance available.
C.
Had a lovely meal with extended family.
Bit busy and loud pub quiz going on.

A very nice, historic Pub which has associations to the last attempted invasion of Britain in 1797, when a French flotilla of four ships unloaded it,s forces three miles west of Fishguard..subsequently the peace treaty following the failed attempt was signed on the Pub,s bar
..The Pub has friendly staff..and a good selection of fine real ales..from local and further afeild breweries..
K. J.
Whilst staying in Fishguard this place was recomended to us by a local and another visitor. We have visted twice👍..... on both occasions we have found this to be a very friendly pub, serving a fab menu.

T. H.
If you want to have some delicious scampi and chips in the exact same place where Colonel Tate surrendered the French forces to Lord Cawdors armies over a cappuccino then this is the place for you. You can also bring your hound to revel in the glorious victory.

This place is steeped in history.. the last land invasion of the British mainland! A great pub as well! The surrender of the invading French was signed in this very pub!

Very friendly staff serving excellent real ales etc. Tuesday night has live folk music with loads of old-timers playing some great stuff. Shame I'm only in Fishguard for one night. Looking forward to coming back one day soon.

Friendly pub but food a bit disappointing. Welsh rarebit was weird and bland though side salad was nice. Fish and chips was a bit soggy and chips just oven chips.

Found it difficult to get served because of the amount of punters around the bar. I decided leave thereafter.
The age appears to be mainly 30+. The atmosphere was jovial.
I might try again on my next visit to Fishguard.
