Really enjoyed my first visit. Nice atmosphere and lovely friendly helpful staff. The food was excellent and the portions large. Probably the best mixed grill I've ever had! The chicken was moist, the gammon wasn't a bit salty, the steak was tender and very tasty as were the sausages. The food was nice and hot and the service was excellent. My wife had the Sunday roast beef dinner which was equally as good as my mixed grill. Highly recommended. Will be going back again next time we're in Barrow.

Came here today play area was OK tho no ball pit got some food took over an hour! Service was so slow even getting a drink took ages! They will use staff shortage as an excuse but seemed plenty around! probably better management is needed. Food was OK because speed of service definitely won't return.

Lovely pub. Food was really nice, good choice and nicely presented. Something for all tastes. What made it better was the warm welcome from the staff, they were friendly, nothing too much trouble and manner very pleasant. The food and drink deals were great also and reasonably priced considering the current financial climate. Would highly recommend whilst visiting this area.

Very pleasantly surprised with the food, very tasty and lots of it. Ended up here by default as the other local eatery had shortages of food and staff and after this visit I'm glad they did, as this is now on my list of places to go! Staff helpful and friendly good choice for the grandkids on the children's menu. Even though it was busy we didn't wait long for our meals. In the words of The Terminator "I'll be back"

Nice pub and play area. Service was great and wanted to do a special mention to Gemma who was so lovely and friendly and couldn't do enough. She is a credit to your team and always has a smile on her face. Thank you. Food in the pub was good and at a decent price too. We will return.

First time here, excellent service & nice food, I enjoyed the steak & ale pie, it was a shame that the coffee machine wasn't working & so the only hot drink on offer was tea. However the lovely waitress explained this before we took our table, which gave us ample opportunity to leave if we wished.

Delicious, affordable food. 3 out of 4 of us are gluten free. Great GF menu. We all had steak. Took 45 minutes from ordering which was poor but it was explained to us (when the food was brought to us) that they had to do hash browns, which were oven cooked, therefore took longer to cook, instead of chips as there was gluten in the oil. We'd definitely go again but if there's any problems they should tell the customer as it happens, not when the food is served, We'd started to think our order had been lost. Also, we're all OK with chips from the fryer as our gluten sensitivity isn't too severe, not everyone is a coeliac. Always good to ask the customer. Great friendly service. Great food and nicely decorated. We'll be back.

Much better than previous visits. Seems better since its takeover. Food came at the same time and was warm. Staff are friendly and attentive. Only gripe is the chicken skewers were supposed to come with sauce in a pot. But it was all over the chicken, the lemon sauce was a little over powering but still nice.

You get what you pay for selection on bar meals has gone down its selection on bbq sauce meals is so over powering to be honest some people don't like bbq sauce but a good selection of food is bbq sauce so its not an option for all of my family we hate it we tend to have the ssme meals so it gets boring hence why we don't go every week

Just wanted to leave a review to say just how brilliant my sons 4th birthday party was. Page is an absolute credit to you and I'm not sure of her position but she definatly deserves to be hugely rewarded for everything that she does. She single handedly sorted everything for the party and was brilliant with anything we needed. There was plenty of time for all the kids to play and booking the place out solely for the party was the best decision especially for the age of the children as they were safely able to explore the whole play area, which is usually for children over the age of 5. The food provided in the boxes was plenty and really good. Everything about the day was brilliant and I just want to say a huge thank you to Paige, I do hope you pass along our thanks and show her this review as she deserves to know what such a good job she does. Thank you for everything and I'm sure we will be seeing you next year!

Visited last night for the first time since before covid. Called in after a walk with a friend. We didn't have a table reserved but was greeted by a friendly member of staff & accommodated immediately. Great menu as always. I had the mix it up - chicken skewers, bbq sauce, sweetcorn & sweet potato fries. My friend had chicken kebab on flatbread with salad coleslaw & chips. We both just had a cuppa (no decaf. Tiny complaint but meal made up for it) The meal arrived quickly & piping hot. Mine was on a sizzling platter. Unfortunately too much for me but the waiter kindly wrapped one of my skewers in foil & I brought it home with me. My friend enjoyed hers - said it was lovely. The bill came to £23.36. Very happy 😊 left a tip will certainly be back. Very friendly & helpful staff. By the time we left it was very busy.

Took my niece to play & got a English breakfast for me bacon wasn't nice& don't know how the cook thought it would be okay to serve when the bacon was just covered in black bits! Food is always great. Service is fast and friendly. The app is easy to use and you can sit outside with your our dog. Lots of sun and umbrellas for shade. Parking is on site in front. Beautiful play area for the kids.

The food is as good as any other Green King pub, my only gripe would be the state of the furnishings, I think it is in dire need of a refurb, tables are scratched and marked, seats are ripped and held together with black tape. If aesthetics are not an issue for you this place is great.

The food is really nice. It's great for family's because it has a soft play area next door and an outdoor playground. It also has a good kids menu, there is a choice for older kids and younger kids. It's also cheap. Customer service is great, although it does get annoying when they constantly check if everything is okay. Chips portions are quite small too.

The food was great no fault whatsoever. The hand washing facility is not good when you have to keep pressing the tap to stay on. It stays on for about 3 seconds and then goes off. A member of your staff were using the toilet and only washed her hands very quickly so your hand washing service is concerning

Rate this place very much!! I live 70 miles away and would definitely return with my family again! Staff were friendly polite and helpful and even check back to ask if all is OK. I went with the mindset that I was going for a weatherspoons! I was pleasantly suprised to find children's TV at the tables to entertain my 6 month old and 8 year old. The food was really good and as a chef I struggle to find a place where I can say I truly enjoyed but this is one.

The staff are very welcoming and so is the atmosphere of the restaurant and bar. There is a good selection of food and drinks including mocktails and burgers. However, the burgers do have a lot of onions in which I wasn't really a fan of. Overall I wound recommend this place for bringing friends and family. (there's a playground if you want to get rid of your kids for awhile)

Boxing day Dinner ! Went here tonight for a late Boxing day Dinner. All the staff were in good spirits and the place had a lovely atmosphere about it. Food was serve quick and was all lovely, there was a slight mix up with the preoredered desserts but this was easy rectified. 5* Thanks for doing the washing up and cooking :)

Had meals for 8 of us, 4 of us had 8ozs steaks, (meagre portions of chips, half a tomato and two onion rings, as requested, no peas ) the steaks were so tough we were practically ripping them apart, even the chunky forks couldn't cut them. Stayed at the Travelodge near this pub and was recommended it by the receptionist. It was exactly what we wanted the food was cheap but huge portions and the staff were nice. They do nightly offers and drinks weren't too expensive either.

Paige is worth her wait in gold !Lovely , clean and tidy seating and play area. Great food and service at kids party. Birthday boy made a fuss of by Paige. And felt really special. Just a shame that as promised on phone the week previous. The refund was not given to my sister for the 5 or 6 she cancelled . As she'd followed the instructions. Having given a week notice before by phone. Then been told to just clarify on the day when we arrive. Were advised she would be refunded at the end of party when we clarified. To then be told she wouldn't be getting it after all. This is very frustrating as all instructions were followed. Leaving my sister £50 or £60 out of pocket. But she also was NOT given the extra party bags or food. Which she was CHARGED for. I also work in hospitality so am fully aware of deposits and refunds. As all guide lines were followed and over a week notice . The full refund should of been refunded. Hopefully this will be rectified as we love the waccy and come often. Also that's why she booked the party here. But apart from that Paige made this a amazing day for my nephew hopefully the manager will check her records and realized that my sister full complied with the following of instruction for a refund. Was also told that if she'd of only paid a deposit it would of been given. But because she was organised and paid upfront . For peace of mind ! That was why it wasn't been refunded. This unfortunately left my sister feeling upset. And to be fair is of putting for future bookings as we have 8 children between 1 -7 so lots of kids party's to plan for.

Hardly anything available from the menu, the only good thing was the service from the meber of staff of which I didn't get the name of.

Haven't been to the Owl & The Pussycat for a good few years. So long, in fact that it's now changed and is under the 'Greene King' franchise. The place itself has been given a refresh with nice decor helping it look much brighter than it used to be. The staff were friendly and helpful albeit all very young and running around like headless chickens, but this can be forgiven with it being the school holidays and very busy. We were told 25 minutes wait for food but it actually turned out to be more like 15 minutes, which was a welcomed surprise. The food is average but that's okay as I knew this was a budget pub/restaurant chain. Although average it's still very tasty and enjoyable. In terms of pricing I was very surprised at how cheap it was. Again, I knew it was a cheaper chain to eat at but we fed a family of 2 adults and 2 kids with drinks for less than £26. Very reasonable. There's a huge play area adjoining the main building called the 'Wacky Warehouse' where for a few quid you can let your kids go crazy whilst you enjoy your brew and have a natter. We didn't use the play area this time but have in the past and on poking my head through the door as I walked past it, the play area seemed as good as it always was with lots of kids having fun on the equipment there. Overall if you're looking for a cheap place to grab a quick bite to eat without it costing the earth then then is a great place to consider. Okay food, pleasant staff, things for the kids to do and very reasonable prices make for a cheap and enjoyable outing.
