We had no preconceived ideas about the pub other than that a good friend suggested having lunch there and he has good taste. It is a big pub with lots of areas to sit. We didn't pre book for lunch but were looked after. The food menu is quite expansive and also really affordable. We made the most of the offers. The chicken katsu curry with chips and rice was divine. There was plenty on the menu for everyone. The range of drinks were good too and they served real ale in handled jugs which I think added to the whole drinking experience. The staff were really friendly and very efficient. The pub was clean and the atmosphere was laid back. There was music being played through the sound system and there was live sport being showed on TV screens. But because the pub was so big, this was all very incidental. Very family friendly. Recommend to all.

Just got back home from having a meal here with my partner, we both had a chick n mix each and a side of garlic bread with 2x cokes. It was absolutely lovely. Staff were lovely and the food was fantastic. A nice chilled out atmosphere aswell perfect for if you're fancying a meal or just a drink. Will definitely be back!

The food is typical pub fare, but at reasonable prices and in good quantities. Had to wait a long time before a staff member noticed us standing around before leading us to our pre-booked table. Bar service is friendly and efficient. Parking could be a challenge.

Unbelievable service from legendary people. You gave me a brilliant time with my late grandfather and I can only hope you carry on quiz night to keep my whole family together. You all have been fantastic. Thank you all! Also the food is awesome FYI!

Called in for some dinner. I had the Steak pie which was very good and the Mrs had the Gammon and eggs. Both meals delivered in a timely manner, good quality at a great price. Will definitely be going back.

Well priced food, the usual chain owned pub stuff but still of a good standard! Poker nights on the Thursday from 8pm. Acts on during weekend. Worth a visit even for a pint, usually very busy in the afternoons

We had a great meal at The Strawberry last Monday. There had been a mistake when we originally booked. The meals were great, the staff pulled out all the stops and couldn’t have been any better. Thank you to everyone concerned.

What is the point of having a restaurant. With a full menu of choices. But the only thing is Chicken and chips that can be served! Green king restaurant down the road is shut. Walked a mile with my dog to a dog friendly restaurant! Just want to add. After the manager getting in touch, investigating, apologising. If ever I’m back in the area. I’ll be popping in for a meal. So changing from 1 star to 3.

real person, real review. "great meals, and great prices! been here plenty of times, and i've always been served well. a staple of barrow!" ... is what i said a few years ago. now though, i can't be so confident. a recent meal that went unfinished had me changing my mind, which is really unfortunate. very poor quality. depressing that what was once a great and easy choice for food is now somewhere i'll avoid.

Lovely food and staff friendly and helpful. they do like you to use the app if you have it . Dishes were good and portions are large. Just a point to note, if you try and book a table after 10.30 am it says nothing is available. Mentioned it to staff and she said it closes after that time and to call them for a booking. Thus is because the app was not sending these bookings to them and they were ending up with double bookings which obviously they don't want as it rightly upsets people. A quiet in the bar but atmosphere was relaxed and friendly.

Absolutely luvly. Only have 1 criticism, I had chicken curry on Saturday. Very very tasty, just not enough. The dish the curry came in was barely half full. So that's the only reason I have dropped 1 star. We had excellent fish on Friday with full plates and my wife's hunters chicken on Saturday was apparently excellent and plentiful as was my curry just not enough of it.

Had good night watching band last Saturday evening but the gents floor was awash from when I first arrived around 8.00pm. There had been a good crowd in watching the rugby earlier and quite boisterous but no excuse for staff to leave the toilets in a mess all night. If there had been a mop available I would have cleaned it up myself!!. I hope it improves as I am as regular.

Quite incredible value in ordering five steaks - not all for me, I hasten to add - and each one was tasty and done to perfection! I've paid £18+ for steak and it didn't match these! Served really quickly, unlike the desserts which took 30mins, and the whole experience was a delight, despite my wife tripping on the Eiger-like steps from the patio area. The staff were very good, too, but my injured wife will never play the violin again (thank god!).

Been here more than a few times and it never really changes. Atmosphere is good, food is cheap and passable and they have an OK range of alcohol that's slightly over priced. All in All, if you're looking for a standard pub, for a standard evening, this will do the trick.

Lovely atmosphere..clean n tidy bar..but bar n food service leaves alot to be desired...having only one bar staff on at teatime...who was actually kitchen staff..was a bit of a disaster.. waited twenty mins for first course...then after that another twenty five mins for main course...then a huge 45 minutes for dessert (having asked twice where it was!!) Was horrendous...unless you have three hours spare to get through your meal...go to mcdonalds drive through instead...food was lovely though...when it finally got to us...
