A great place for food and drink! Greene King pub. Amazing staff. Gorgeous garden and far enough from town to avoid the party crews! A decent place for meet ups and to chill out in the beautiful garden. My favourite pub in the whole of Bedford. Even recommended it to my daughter to work in as its such a lovely place . What a lovely pub! With 3 rooms inside, a large (heated) outside area with 'The Coach House' catering for events, what more could you ask for? Very good value for money on drinks and great food menu. I absolutely love this pub, every time I have been there the food has been fantastic, freshly cooked generous portions and great price. The staff are all really friendly and welcoming. The pub is clean and very pretty with lots of hanging baskets of flowers and a beautiful old fireplace. I would definitely recommend The Ship and am looking forward to my next visit.

Alwyn and his team did us proud yesterday for my brother in laws wake! Waggy was a regular at The Ship and it would have been delighted with the turnout of over 200 people, the guys at the pub worked extremely hard and laid on a fantastic spread! It is the perfect place to have excellent food at a reasonable price. Not many people in at the moment. That is the only thing really. I would not like it to become a victim of it's own success and get really busy. I suppose a good booking in system it the answer to that. They have already got one of those. So every success to them.

Good deals available, such as two pub classics for £12 or a toastie, chips and a drink for £6.99. The pitchers are also very good value at £8.99 for a cocktail pitcher that you can get 3 drinks out of. The food is always well presented and the staff friendly. It has proper old pub vibes and feels very cosy. You can order everything and pay on your phone, which is handy.

It was my favourite pub in Bedford until today when served by the rudest barmaid. (Blonde hair and Eastern European I think, mid to late 20s). She needs to be re-trained. She spent 5 to 10 mins argiung with us rather than giving a good service. Disgraceful behaviour! The manager was nice though, I must say.

This is a really nice pub. The bar staff are super friendly and happy to engage in conversation, while still being quick at serving and knowledgeable about what’s on offer. Inside is decorated really nicely, with a vibe and ornaments living up to the pub’s name. There’s plenty of seating and a decent sized outdoor section which is quite the sun trap in the summer. Toilets are clean and also well done out. The food menu has a large range of options and there’s a good variety of drinks available. Best of all prices are reasonable for such a nice pub and I’ve happily returned many times!

Recently renovated, this pub is lovely and welcoming inside. Nice wooden floors, modern decoration, low ceilings and an open fire, make this the perfect family spot or place to get together with friends. The beer garden is also made to look great with loads of places to sit and is maintained well. Looks great with flower baskets in the summer.

The Ship attracts a mixed crowd, but mostly older people go there. It's a nice little pub, in a quieter part of town. To me it's nothing very remarkable, and there are better pubs nearby. The food hygiene rating is 4 out of 5.

The Ship was is a great pub in the town with parking. Do note that parking is free for customers but make sure you register your car at the bar. I was slightly disappointed with the food as I was looking forward to fish & chips. However it was not available and I had to go with gammon & chips. It was a thick piece of meat and very tasty

Recently been revamped and it's lovely! Really nice job, modern yet still cozy. Had food here on a Sunday, food was really nice, they were a little stressed as there was an event going on so they forgot us a few times but everything was ok in the end and they even gave us a free drink and pudding as an apology. Service and food was lovely, really nice environment. Definitely go back again!

This is a very tough review. Originally, I was going to give 5 stars. Lovely pub with excellent service and the food came out reasonably quickly. The value is unbelievable. 2 main courses, nice portions, for £11. I started thinking this is too good to be true. We tried the hunter's chicken and the cod and they were fantastic. We then tried the gammon steak. It was chewy and too salty, even for a gammon. I told the manager what I thought and politely asked for something else. He said that there's nothing wrong with the gammon and that basically I should eat what I had. I again explained that I had both ordered and cooked gammon myself that wasn't so bad. His response was if I wanted a different dish I'd have to pay for it because "there was nothing wrong with the food". I returned the dish that I just had one bite and said "no thank you". It's unfortunate that some managers won't accept negative feedback. If he had at least apologised for that one dish, he would have gotten 5 stars. I also find it unfair to give anything lower than 4 stars.

Fairly recently refurbished with better use of the space for this period building. Friendly staff who serve you with a smile. World Cup was on, but as you don't get the lager louts in here normally it meant a pleasant atmosphere. Could do with somewhere to be shaded in the garden for those rare moments when we get more than two days in a tow of sunshine!

Had a meal whilst here - food was very nice with friendly service too. A cosy place with lovely features. Got an area out front and back to sit as well. There is a pay and display car park out back. Would definitely visit again.

very nice meal would have given it 5 stars but the peppercorn sauce cost £1.49 and if you get more than a teaspoonful you must be a lucky one. that was our only fault have been here several times and the amount of peppercorn sauce you get is tiny compared to other green king pub servings.

Have known Pasq & Janet for just a few years now & they have a gem of a place here. They have continued with the tradition of live music which has been supported by this venue for a long time. The coach house is a great little restaurant with a simple but delicious menu. I don't normally like chunk chips but the chips here are lovely and I would call them mega chunkies. (pasq I have just patented that name so u can't nick it lol) The steak was lovely as were the accompaniments. Will definitely be eating here again when my legs feel uptown venturing out on their next expedition. Well done pasq, Janet. See u soon.
