Went here for lunch. Lovely food with vegetarian option and reasonably priced. Not only are the food super tasty and fresh but the layout is beautiful too. I absolutely love the cheese cake I got. The interior is fantastic and brought you back in time the moment you stepped into this place. Naturally good for social distancing if your group can get into one of the boxes. The only sad thing about the place is that some previous visitors have let their own “marks” by carving into the beautiful wooden surface throughout the place.

This is one of those places where ambience is everything. This could almost be an interactive museum. You feel like you are stepping back in time from the brilliantly preserved exterior to the even more impressive interior. Book or secure a snug/Booth at some point during your visit, if possible for the full experience. The food is also surprisingly good.
B. L.
Stepping into the Crown feels like going back in time. The first floor bar looks elegant, if you come early your group can have their own snugs. Upstairs you can get food in the parlor and it's very nice and it's filled with old pictures. The service here is fast and they have a great mix of pub food and traditional English entrees.
H. C.
You cannot get more traditional pub than this pub in Belfast. Make sure you try the Steak and Ale Pie which is wholesome. I do love my mushroom soup (which is a holiday special). We went early so we can grab a seat at the booth. If you go with a group in the evening, it’s worth reserving a booth all for yourselves.
B. G.
Very superlative experience! The Guinness is very special, no places have the same taste in Ireland! It is very beautiful and interesting. The bus Translink stops in front of it. You can cross the shopping center Europa and entry. Must do it!
F. S.
It's full of snugs, amazing! Beautiful little atmosphere in every one of them. Feels like being on the Hogwarts express except you're also allowed to order pints from the sweets trolley. What a pub!
Service was super slow at the bar even though we were there early. Best go before work finishes as it gets super busy in the evenings and the booths fill up quick.
L. Z.
Fabulous place to eat and drink. If you are lucky, grab a little private booth - all that pub atmosphere with added privacy. Use the QR code to enjoy table service, and drink in that history and culture this place has to offer.
A. K.
It was a great experience! It was must visit in list of Belfast (as everyone suggests) so we really enjoyed the time. Bushmills is just a normal whiskey not too different in taste. Ambience is really great and servers our really friendly.
G. M.
Iconic drinking establishment in Belfast. We popped in for a drink on a Saturday evening. Very busy, but efficient bar staff served us fairly quickly. It's a matter of luck or getting there early to get a seat in one of the quirky partitioned cubicles.
K. B.
Incredible place to visit a traditional pub with a unique interior including booths to share a drink with friends. The Guinness is really good 👍
R. V.
Amazing decor dating back to the 1880’s. Tasty steak and ale pie and an Irish coffee I’m craving months later back in the US.
M. C.
You must visit this pub if you are in Belfast. Original period features, a good atmosphere and great service make this place well worth seeking out.
T. H.
A fine pub with tasty food. We sat in a snug and enjoyed our pints and ate our pies.
T. O. G.
Review of the building rather than the fare on offer here as I only had an Orange Juice so it’s hard to mess that up! Building is owned by the National Trust and in terms of its period decor, is a standout. Was very busy when I visited on a Sunday night.
j. b.
Saw that there were oysters on menu so went in for a Guiness and snack but they were full of sand so not great. His cheese sarnie was better! Downstairs has great decor with little booths and a good atmosphere but no seat available at lunchtime so we went upstairs. Not half as nice as cold with a snooty waitress.
l.
Great location especially if you can get a booth, good choice of beer and friendly/ helpful bar staff. Worth a visit to the oldest bar in Belfast.
S. A.
Owned by the National Trust, the Crown Liquor Saloon offers a glimpse of old Belfast. It is a unique setting, and you should book in advance to get a "snug" - a booth with a door for your party.
We had drinks in snug #2. Interesting, as it was the booth used by Harry and Meghan in their visit to the city and saloon in 2019.
Our waiter recommended local IPAs, and we stayed about an hour. Recommended.
K. H.
Very old pub in Belfast. Beautiful interior, almost mind blowing. Staff are friendly too.
R. C.
We came here to have a meal before catching the bus to the Belfast International Airport as it is opposite the Bus terminal. The restaurant is above the pub. The food was tasty, and served quickly by friendly staff. The only thing I found difficult was the accessibility. As I have mobility issues and have to use a walking stick or a rollater to get around it took a lot of time and help from my carer to get up the stairs. It was worth the effort though for the food. It wad hot and tasty. The waitress we had was friendly and helpful.
G. L.
Called in as we had some time to kill waiting for a train. Pretty busy for a Friday afternoon but service was slick and professional.. Good range of spirits and beers and pretty reasonable compared to other establishments in Belfast
K. V.
Super cool place. It does make you feel like you are backon time .
Great service and oyster
Service 5/5
Price 5/5 ( 3 oyster for 5 )
Place 5/5
Food 4/5

The premises itself is amazing. Staff friendly. Food ok, nothing great
H.
Very busy but good atmosphere in the bar.
Had meal upstairs very dissatisfied with so many things off the menu not even got Irish stew .Very little option for anyone with an allergy . Ended up with salad and even then not all things that should have been inclu ded were there. Most of the staff friendly but
our waitress needed a lesson in customer service. Very miserable not a great welcome for visitors.
Would recommend the bar but eat elsewhere unless you check what's off menu .
A. P.
Brilliant place. The 'closets' around the outside, the gas lights and the Victorian decor made it really atmospheric.
M. K.
Nice place, friendly staff. Only one vegan option for a starter; two for main, no vegan pudding. But at least they had something when most others in the area do not. Only 2 of the 5 advertised (non-vegan) desserts were available when we visited though.
J. T.
Came across this great bar in Belfast, it was like stepping back in time. It's an amazing place to see. A must see if you're in Belfast
n. H.
It was a very nice and friendly place for a visit. I went upstairs the female waitress. With the red hair was excellent at her job 👏 👌 thank you so much
j. l.
Beyond burger is decent enough but doesn’t come with chips like all the other burgers you have to pay for them as an extra due to them not being vegan, staff were fine not blown away by service but also not bad just had to wait a while to wave someone down to be seated. The place is beautiful inside lovely bits of history on the walls but over all it’s just over priced for the quality
B. W.
Awesome place. Old Irish pub with snugs for visiting or ample room to hang out near the bar. Good food, great atmosphere, great easy to find location.
S.
One of the most famous and iconic pub in Northern Ireland. Classic inner decor with dashing ambiance. And the beautiful Guinness. Just superb.
V.
Probably the most beautiful bar I have ever been in. Everywhere you look are ornate little details. It really is worth going to see. We arrived on a Saturday night and the place was full to the brim so we couldn't stay for long but getting to see this place was brilliant.
A. B.
What a charming place. Small booths in old wood Victorian style I wish I had more time. Update.... Still great
L. C.
Fantastic to be in The Crown after so long. Great pint of Guinness and a lovely member of staff that let us sit in a booth for an hour before the party who reserved it arrived <3
H. a. B. R.
A fantastic experience, a step back to victorian times. Cosy, private booths still with brass match strikers and bell pushes. Working gas lights, dark wood, tiles and stained glass, very atmospheric. All topped off with good food and excellent Guinness.
D. O.
Wonderful old pub. Service very good. A MUST visit place when visiting Belfast
A. C.
Fabulous but very busy, loved the little cubicles and stained glass windows
m. s.
Still a cracking pub, now with upstairs dining room serving above average pub grub, but the attraction remains its general convivial atmosphere ( in a listed building) with a great range of drinks including local lagers. Also got a snug for our group, but unsure whether the £10 non-refundable booking charge was there pre or post pandemic. Regardless, if your visiting Belfast it's a must. Opposite the Europa Hotel & beside Robinsons, with Brennans to the left, you may be in the area for a while...
B. G.
A must-see attraction for anyone visiting Belfast City Centre; a truly unique experience! Famously this is the only pub owned by the National Trust and has been preserved in incredible fashion.
D. S.
Atmospheric bar used in films for its' unique style. Had a lovely pint of Guiness.
M. L.
Fantastic pub. Has cubicles to sit in for cosy drinks either mates or partners. Very tasty food. A must pub when in Belfast. Unique decor inside.
R. S.
On a busy night the staff did a Stirling job, the decor on the restaurant and bar area are exceptional. Warm and inviting Irish hospitality at it's best. Happy days.
M. H.
Very friendly service, a great atmosphere, Guinness on tap of course and the food is absolutely lovely - wouldn't even think it was a 'chain' pubic house.
Will definitely be back again.
T. M.
A lovely old pub, full of character. Good service.
O. K.
As part of our Belfast Pub hopping, we stopped in to the Crown, after Brennan's and Fibber Magees. I had another. Guinness, poured to perfection with a little shamrock. This time, we had one of our own private booths, of which they have many. Great pub, track and trace in place. They normally have a live webcam, but I asked and it's disabled right now. Good thing. I don't want my girlfriend to see me with my wife. :D
L. R.
Great pub, location and atmosphere. Chips over cooked but the fish and scampi were delicious. The Guinness was 1st class!!!
D. J.
Unique pub, well worth a visit. Friendly and helpful staff. Bar food was a little disappointing in particular the veg which were overcooked otherwise I would have given 5 stars
R. R.
So cool, lovely food and drink too. Very accommodating. We booked a snug on a Friday early evening and it was perfect. Great atmosphere.
D. W.
THEE Belfast pub! Yeah, it's touristy but the locals get in there as well. Plenty of ales and an entirely unique pub environment. I can't recommend it too highly.
S. M.
Delicious food, good portions, reasonable price and really good customer service.
K. M.
Lovely bar but bought friends here from England and ladies toilets were awful. No toilet paper and hand drier broke. Staff must have been aware but no paper towels supplied.
J. B.
Great pub for a few drinks with family. Excellent service and not too loud for us to have a conversation. Would visit again.
J. W.
Gets very busy so book in advance if you want a booth to sit in, specify in message box that you want a booth! I prebooked but didn't specify booth and got disappointed as they were all taken. Nice food and service
O. B.
A beautiful Pub directly opposite Great Victoria Street Station.
j. c.
I visited this bar not so long ago with my two sons, one falls into special needs category. We ordered a pint of guinnes a glass of guiness and a coke.
The barman stopped pulling pint half way through looked intensively at my son who has fragile x syndrome and stated that he would not be serving us as he looks like he has had enough.shocking really and very embarrassing for my son who is aware of his syndrome .I attempted to explain without drawing attention but to no avail.
Thanks for the very proffesional reception . As a result My son was left wondering what was wrong and why we had to leave.
Thanks for this amazing reception in what looked like a very
J. R.
Just Fantastic.
A must Visit.
Unique friendly staff and friendly local costumers.
One of the best pubs I have ever visited.
A. F.
We've been before but not for a few years. COVID precautions were top drawer and the staff were amazing. Paid 10 quid to reserve a booth and it was awesome. Staff couldn't be more helpful friendly
M. G.
If you find yourself in Belfast, you must pop in just for a look around, really unusual place with booths. We had a meal and a pint, both good and a fair price.
J. T.
Wonderful traditional bar. This is a place that you must experience if you are taking a trip to belfast.
The booths the whole interior, everything. Just incredible.
J. C.
Great atmosphere in this classic Irish "gin palace". We had dinner in the restaurant upstairs and it was delicious, and the service was friendly and welcoming.
R. J.
Always a treat to visit The Crown. Great to see they had Plum Porter by Titanic brewery available. It was absolutely delicious.
Z. X.
The best Irish food I’ve ever had. Especially the Irish stew and steak pie.
However, the staffs are friendly, yet, the service was too slow.
Definitely worth a try overall.
W. W.
Some regulars but mostly a tourist spot - place run by national trust. Service hit and miss but can have a few real ales, proper (flat) cider, craft gins. Prices a bit on the high side.
R. N.
The busses from the airport stop right outside the pub, and for first time travellers, it's a great place to get a perfect Irish experience. The first thing I did on arriving in Belfast was get my first taste of a Guinness at The Crown. The atmosphere is great, lots of people and very rustic and classical architecture.
E. C.
We went there for our first lunch in Belfast, which was amazing! The dinning area is on the upstairs but when you walk through the ground floor, you can see how beautiful this bar is. Irish lamb stew tasted so good and so did their fish finger sandwich! Service was great and staff were friendly!
M. A.
The place has lots of history friendly staff and gr8 food it's just a amazing experience to be there
P. A.
Absolutely loved the setting and the mood in this place. It was the first place I was advised to visit, being that it's across the road from the bus station where shuttles from the airport terminate; but I spent more time there only on my last day in Belfast. Impressed by the fact that the pub has been going for more than a century, preserving a proud family/national enterprise. So many historical photographs, posters and other mementoes on the wall; the furniture are themselves markers of a time long past -- possibly been there for a half-century or longer. I ordered a whiskey brewed from a region in the country, my way of saluting the country's heritage and wound up what's been a most fulfilling stay.
M. H.
Very nice, and old bar. Lots of different beers, and nice atmosphere. But the old looks really are the main attractions here. The carved wood on the ceiling, the windows, the bad itself, the separation of seating. Everything looks like you're in a pub ages ago, stuff you see in Peaky Blinders.
A must see here in Belfast.
F. J.
Excellent pub, great atmosphere, very busy and lots of Buss.
Drinks are expensive.
H. T.
Has dinner on the last night in Belfast. The food was great. I had a tarte tartine and profiteroles and of course yer another Irish coffee. Service was lackluster but it could be it was a bank holiday so they were short staffed. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt since the food was good. #maneklady #manekeats #manektravels

12 years ago. I visited here
D. O.
Great pub, fabulous historic value, all pubs should have booths and decor like this.
T. S.
Popped in for a pint. It has a charm of its own and you could imagine it would have looked the same 50 years ago which is great. Did not get a chance to sit in the booths as a busy Friday night. Nice beer too.
A. M.
Lovely old Pub, Guiness was very good
B. C.
Beautiful interior and great service! A true old gin palace! And the food is very good too! I loved the trio of grilled fish!
V. H.
An ambience which is truly one of a kind! It felt like a trip to the past. Beautiful and ancient glas windows and decor which is simply outstanding and does not compare to any other pub I have seen so far. Staff at the bar is lagging behind though in friendly- and speediness. Nevertheless, it is worthwhile visiting and a must on any visitor’s list of things to do in Belfast.
R. W.
We went for drinks and a sit down.
Can feel a bit touristy with the furniture and locked in booths. However, I've been told that locals are fond of the place too and they do have decent food
K. T.
Beautiful pub to relax and chat with friends. Celebrated out 8th wedding anniversary on one of their snugs. They allowed us to bring our own cake even supplying candles, napkins and a knife free of charge.
A.
Very cool decor, great old school books for seating and reasonable prices. Bar staff great.
Restaurant surrounds less interesting, menu is just ok - they have a similar offering to the surrounding pubs but those are cheaper with friendlier staff and less wait times.
C. M.
The Crown is a gorgeous pub that transports you back in time to another era. Beautiful carved mahogany and gas lanterns cast a warm glow. We grabbed a pint at the bar and were very lucky to find a snug! These booths are like your own private confessional. We headed upstairs for dinner and the food was delicious! The real draw at the Crown is the gorgeous pub downstairs! Can’t wait to get back...
F. M.
Unbelievable decor with a wonderful atmosphere.
N. H.
Unusual bar, friendly staff.
a. s.
Our first visit to Belfast and delighted to find The Crown a really quaint, homely pub, oldest in Belfast we were told dating back to 1720. Characterised with warm carved mahogany and gas lanterns and traditional snugs. We were invited to share a snug with friendly locals and enjoyed very tasty lunch with our drinks. We will definitely visit again when we can return to Belfast
J. C.
Even if you don’t order a drink there, visit this pub which is across from the rail and bus station and the Europa Hotel for the stain glass and griffins. First class. Find an open snug to drink with close friends
J.
Worth a visit, can’t beat the atmosphere and aesthetic... get yourself a Belfast black and the steak in a booth man loved the experience thoroughly!! Oh don’t forget a side of mac n cheese
D. M. (. h. r.
The best thing about thia bar is the service. Very attentive. Also it is well set up for these quarantined times we find ourselves in as there are cubicles for all. The food wasn't bad, quite tasty.
G. k.
Great experience staff where lovely and food was great 👍
D. W.
A great piece of history. Friendly staff, I had a plum porter and sat in a booth ,snug. Just like in the 1947 film ,Odd man out. (Although that was a studio recreation.
T. D. R.
Great service! A must see if your in Belfast. Such a beautiful place.
T. R.
A fantastic little pub in the heart of Belfast, right across from the historic Europa hotel. Walking distance from Hilton and right along the bus path with plenty of taxis nearby. Great food and drink, and next door to the historic Robinson Bar and Grill as well.
T. A.
Well what a lovely oldy worldy pub!
Cracking atmosphere & great staff!
Belfasts finest!!! 🍻
C. S. -. C.
Warm and cozy authentic Irish pub. Friendly service and great food. A must see!
K. M.
Really great place. Good service, food and ale and the decoration is spectacular
P. B.
Good food, drinks and atmosphere. We had a meal upstairs rather than down because it was pretty packed but still a lovely time.
Wait staff were just lovely, free round of drinks when we were forgotten and just about at our beck and call for the night. Would recommend for a good bite and drinks when in the city.
T. L.
Loved it, staff very friendly. Bar itself is stunning and definitely worth a visit. We had food on both occasions and the first time it wasn't as hot as I'd have liked it. It didn't stop me going back again as the food is lovely.
N.
Best Irish stew I ever had! 🍲 Lovely traditional booths and staff are nice. Had a good craic ☘️
G. S.
Fantastic pub- great atmosphere
D. E.
As a visitor to Belfast I was made made to feel extremely welcome. Great Guiness, superb atmosphere, and great rib eye steak.
Thanks all at Crown Liquor Saloon and see you tomorrow hopefully.
W. G.
One of the most beautiful bars I've ever set foot in. The semi-private rooms are amazing and the entire bar feels like a musuem. You know what, the beer was pretty damned good as well!
P. O.
Fantastic bar, great atmosphere with the smoothest Guiness around
L. R.
Great bar, been here many times and enjoy it everything we are there. Got a great pint of guinness, good service and it wasn't too crowded for a Saturday night which was nice. Definitely recommend for a pint.
r.
Beautiful place! This nearly 200 years old pub looks just incredible. Beer is good, prices are Belfast standard, a lot of locals and tourists meeting here which makes this place as vivid as it gets. It is just across the Europa Hotel and in good walking distance from Belfast city center.
l. b.
Quaint and busy pub with an excellent selection of ales . Friendly atmosphere.
J. F.
Have not been in there for years but my visit today reminded me how brilliant a place it was and was very luck to get a 'snug' at a busy time. Great place to visit.
K. K.
Staff was wonderful. Food was delicious. Drinks were amazing. Great night for first time in Ireland.
J. M.
Authentic step back in time. Real national heritage pub with good food and such a friendly staff who can't help enough.
F. F.
Real amazing pub. Never seen one like this. I enjoyed a meal at the first floor and after a nice wisky. Salmon as a starter and the famous stew (really tasty)
J. H.
Cozy private booths and solid fish and chips. The service a bit terse but appropriate for the Belfast city.
L. M.
It's super nice to have dinner there, the food is very tasty and lefts you pretty satisfied.
h. s.
This place is fabulous! If visiting belfast, this is a must. It is very historic, beautiful architecture and has very good food too. It's a great experience and I will highly recommend going there.
S. H.
Beautiful pub never seen anything like it,filming was about to start so had to leave. I had my movie face on so don't know why😁
J. J.
Lovely traditional pub. Get in early for a private booth if you're in a group.
W. H.
Really busy bar. It's clear to see that it has long history. If you want to come, please Avila busy time, otherwise you need to stand to drink. Food are good, recommend Steak and Gunnies pie. Beer is a little bit expensive but still acceptable. It's definitely worth to come
B. E.
Excellent pub the decor inside is amazing. Loads of little booths inside to sit in. Great atmosphere.
B. H.
Well worth a visit . Staff lovely. . Book if you want to eat .. downstairs booths are so cute
P. C. a. T. M.
The cheerful atmosphere hits you as you walk through the doors. The glass work and decor is unique. If you want privacy there’s still booths where you can order food from a traditional menu. We had Irish Stew which warmed us up on a cold day. Superb!
J. C.
Lovely vibe in this pub food very good
I. R.
If there is a better pub in Belfast, then I would love to know where it is....! Fantastic pub, unchanged by progress...
J. E.
Very expensive spot but did enjoy the atmosphere in the Crowne saloon with the individual snugs etc.But 15 pounds for a draught cider & glass wine is a total rip off. Same drinks in couple other nice bars 8 pounds.Wetherspoons a little over a 5r.
Tourist trap to be honest.
John
Dublin.
G. R.
Great but only 2 staff on, on a sat afternoon. Booths are great but minging, need a good clean down.
D. P.
Very polite and friendly staff. Good food, although the choice of steak was limited to just one. A 10oz Ribeye.
D. H.
Best pub in Ireland. The guinness is outstanding. Very friendly and efficient staff.
G. B.
Great bar when it's quiet. Tourist hotspot. recommend a pint of nicholsons. Only place in Belfast you can get this fine pint. Enjoy this wonderful iconic bar off peak and soak in the wonderful architecture and criac.
T. R.

Nice pint of Guinness, stunning decor. Worth having a quiet pint here.
L. H.
If you are going to Belfast you just have to go here! Fab place. So cute private individual stalls with their own little door. Fascinating ancient decor!! Book a booth and soak up the ambiance 😊😊 dont miss out on this little jewel..
V. L.
There are lots of choices, especially you got to try Guinness pie and go down stairs to grab a cup of Guinness bear. You won’t regret.
T. S. F.
Gopd old fashioned pub and grub !
V. C.
Stop in for a drink! Very beautiful and great atmosphere. Food was ok.
A. B.
Nice traditional style pub. Good service.
A. G.
Gorgeous pub, worth booking a booth.
B. R.
One of the best pubs of the whole Ireland. The interior worth the visit.
n. e.
Ok. Now we are talking. Oldest pub in Belfast? Best too! The nooks and crannies are delightful. The bartenders are knowledgeable and fun. The patrons are friendly and welcoming. Do not miss it.
B. K.
Classic old world bar with stained glass windows, ornate ceilings and individual wooden booths with doors for those seeking some privacy for their group! Great selection of beers and liquor, it is easy to see why this place is so popular with locals and tourists and a must visit!
S. P.
A very nice place to enjoy a drink at the oldest pub in Belfast. Get there early and grab your own personal booth with a door.
K.
Definitely worth a visit. Booths are so cosy. Great selection of gins, beers and of course...the Guinness is good.
K. K.
Great decor, nice place for drinks, and probably for food, but make sure you don't order the cauliflower burger. Unfortunately, I made that mistake, just because I wasn't in the 'meat' mood. My advice - if you don't know how to make decent vegan burgers, just stop doing it. Or learn and try until it's good enough.
W. V.
Doesn't get any better in Belfast; great building, great atmosphere, and real ale aplenty.
K. M.
Historic bar with a huge sense of character. Very busy, if you are looking to sit in one of the snugs you might have to wait but work it to have somewhere nice and private to chat. There is also a restaurant upstairs.
S. M.
Love that they have refused to renovate and change over the years. The booths are roomy and private while the bar is buzzing. Interesting selection of beer, like this Innis & gunn came across for the first time
C. C.
Very good food, very fine service. One of the most elegant bars in Ireland. From the famed decor to the carved mahogany booths, it is iconic and worth a visit.
r. s.
Staff where very helpful, was great amazing bar & food was delicious. Much needed. Highly recommend.
W. H.
We shared a booth with a lovely couple and had to try the Guinness obviously
K. S.
What a fantastic piece of history. Lovely pub, gorgeous beer, fantastic staff. Sadly did not have time to sample the food. If you come to Belfast you must see this place.
P. S.
What an amazing pub. The decor is a site to behold. Make sure if you visit Belfast you must take at a pint in the pub. We had food and it was delicious. I had fish & Chips and she had ale pie and both of us would happily eat there again.
M. L.
It's a must see historic pub that was recommended to us by a local resident.
T. O. C.
Just called in for a drink. Lovely traditional pub with original features. Staff were friendly and helpful.
G. P.
Went here for a pint and to soak in the ambience. Don't know about the food but I loved the room. Classic design complete with private snugs and plenty of great architectural detail. It's definitely worthy of a stop.
T. 7.
Everyone seems to go here so don't be surprised if it's busy. There a small drinking booths to sit in which are quite unique.
M. L.
Legendary... that's the proper word. What else can I say? Come over... and enjoy the moment.
Full five star!
All the best for the Staff!
B. D.
Michael our bar man such a gentleman and his knowledge of whiskey fab just called in for quick pint and whiskey every pub should have a Michael
H. E. J. R.
Very unique place for a drink, definitely worth a visit..lots of interesting interiors. The booths are nice, but apart from that there isn't much seating in the bar area and it does get busy quite early on.
T.
We enjoyed the food. Service was a little slow. More then the average slowness most Americans find restaurants in other countries. Had a few items missing that were on the menu but that maybe due to Sunday evening. Food was excellent and good atmosphere.
S. J.
The gentleman who showed us to our table was a bit rude. We loved our booth and table. It was very cosy. Table service was a bit slow! I had steak which was pretty fatty but cooked exactly how I wanted it which was great. The steak was tasteless though 😕 garlic bread was very nice and my friends mac and cheese was amazing!
Tbf I wouldn't go again.
F. S.
Proper authentic pub. Also great for lunch.
n. m.
Great pub with your own doored cubicles. Great stained glass windows
C. M.
Wonderful, historic pub in Belfast. It came highly recommended, so I had expectations to match. I was not disappointed. The snugs were great for hanging with friends, and the staff were friendly. Only one suggestion: start serving Smitchwicks!
E. F.
Lovely food with great, friendly service! Good value for money, would definitely return!
C. H.
Great place for a beer, but crowded during peak times. Tourists coming in and out are a pain, but what a roof!
K. F.
Both our Guinness were bitter. Had to leave. Tasted fine in Kelly's Cellars.

I guess this is one of the most popular spots in Belfast. Lots of history. Very nice dining area. Has some veggie options. Across from the bus station as well.
P. R.
Went there to dinner had not Booked
Ahead must say the sausages and
Mash were very good and had Dessert as well would go again
R. H.
Very atmospheric, prices are fine. Great location for tourists and locals a like. Recommended to us by a taxi driver, who said it was the oldest pub in Belfast.
D. M.
We had Irish stew and beef and stout pie
A. D.
Had a dinner upstairs, nice guinness pie and good beers. The older belfast pub, it worth a visit
e. k.
Nice pint of Guinness, stunning decor. Worth having a quiet pint here.
A. W.
Great atmosphere. Got a private booth which was just lovely. Well worth a visit if you dont mind standing.
D. D. D.
Great photo location, and one of the few remaining pubs with booths. Not many local beers, and not very clean.
W. C.
Very interesting old style bar, good quality beers and very pleasant staff.
V. C.
We were disappointed with the food, on Sunday eve we expected the roast dinner to be available. But it wasn't on. We were let down by the ribeye steak. The crown burger was chard and inedible. The steak pies were nice but the veg was overcooked, and from frozen packs. There were no oysters or camenbert available on the starters but we weren't told til we tried to order. Overall this place is working its famous Ness not on the quality of the food. Uts a nice interior decor. Go for drinks but eat elsewhere!!
F. C.
It's a classic pub. Booths made for Covid times. Ace nachos, lager Guinness and a Bushmills
D. Y.
Great architecture , staff are very friendly, but customers can be a wee bit pushy trying to sit in one of there snugs , but a great experience and the beer is good .
F. &. Y. O. R.
Beautiful old bar. Well worth a visit and a pint or two.
B. R.
This is a place you must see and have drink in there. Very lovely and olde world 🍻😊
T. S.
One of the most historic and visited bars in Northern Ireland. Full of character and a great selection of drinks and traditional Irish meals. Make sure to reserve a booth and relish a pint of Guinness and bowel of Irish Stew!
M. R.
After visiting Henry's, this definitely a tourist trap. Food was so so.
H. S.
Tremendously beautiful pub. Fantastic interior, sumptuous. Service excellent.
C. S.
Sorry to have to give a poor review for the Jewel of our city.
But having had two meals recently in the Crown I found the food lacking , I had fish & chips& peas on the first occasion and found the fishes batter very mushy and not at all crispy and the peas were cold, so thought I would like to give it another try, got the Irish Stew extremely small portion for the hefty price with wheaten bread that was rock hard I mentioned to the server who politely apologized but think the Crown should stick to what they do best just serving drinks
The greeter at the door I think is called Emer she is a great asset to the bar very friendly and accommodating to get you a seat when she can but will be happy to have a drink in the future but will pass on the food
Saturday 4th Sept
Thank you for your reply to my review .
I appreciate your response and will be glad to take up your offer to give your food another try
Many Thanks
Catherine

A must visit pub if you're in Belfast. It is an outstanding example of a Victorian gin palace and one of Northern Ireland's best-known pubs. It is owned by the National Trust.
Some great local beers and gin which can be consumed in private booths or at a ornate and beautifully restored bar. There is a good restaurant upstairs
Walking through the doors of this magnificent
Pub is like taking a journey back in time when the heated foot rails and gas lights were state of the art fittings.
A. S.
I traveled a lot but have never been to such an amazing pub before!!! Absolutely stunning place. Pub and behind doors another pub with dancing, singing and more drinking... People were absolutely amazing and I had fabulous time. I keep telling my friends about this place and this is must see when in Belfast ^:^
N. F.
This is an iconic pub. Always has been. Shame that the ceiling isn't painted like the Cistine Chapel anymore like it was in 1989 when I first visited but all the enclosed snugs with bells for service are still there.
Just go there! It's amazing.
F. M.
Beautiful food and friendly staff , gorgeous pint of Guinness
a. s.
Amazing traditional Irish pub, just had to have a Guinness.
S. B.
Cute and quaint! Booths were cool also.
L. F.
Lovely pub, amazing food, great music, relaxing atmosphere
R. G.
Food was delicious, beer was crisp, and service was friendly.
D. R.
Really beautiful decore and the drink choices were great
R. K.
The Crown Liquer Saloon - Stylish with character, charm and unique. One of the most beautiful pub I've ever seen in my life. Incredible atmosphere while sitting in the one those locking osiers with pint of beer or amazing G&T. This place is very popular so usually also crowdy but on Sunday morning is quiet, get then unforgettable breakfast
J. J.
Lovely old fashioned Belfast pub. Even has oil burner lights 10/10
A. S.
I'm only giving it 3 stars, as I thought it was too overcrowded today, or maybe it's just me lol. I do normally like this bar tho
S. I.
Amazing place.... Food looked great. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Like stepping back in time.
J. H.
A really pretty bar, some lovely wood carving in places. It's basically one room but there are booths along one side and at the end where you can sit in with a dribk. Great range of beers. You will not be disappointed...
B. M.
Must see attraction. Unmissable experience of genuine Belfast history.
G. Y.
A magnificent place for a Guinness after exploring the city. Interior outstanding.
M. P.
Top pub for decor, beer selection & variety and atmosphere. The little booths are a great way to meet people by sharing with strangers. Squeeze on in there!
R. G.
Enjoyed a pint in one of the booths, fab surroundings. Lots of stained glass windows, gas lighting. Great atmosphere about it, could have stayed longer! 😃
J. C.
Lovely place for a drink but avoid the food. Soggy, greasy calamari sitting in a puddle of oil and the most bland chicken burger I've ever had - not worth the money.
D. B. (.
Good beer and an interesting historic pub with private booths.
P. B.
Great place, very vibrant with a lot of energy... a must visit when in Belfast
R. S.
Nice bar, and apparently you must visit if you're ever in Belfast, I'm told!
R. H.
Super pub, great atmosphere, private boiths
S. A.
A Nicholsons chain bar. Largest selection of beers I saw whilst in Belfast. Really popular bar. That's also an upstairs restaurant.
The decor is incredible. Marble floors, ornate sculpture, wooden snubs, mirrors, stained glass. It's a work of art, and a must see.
D. A.
Perfect for a nightcap. Grab an aged whiskey, find a booth and soak up the atmosphere
A. K.
I enjoyed the atmosphere in this Saloon. The Fish and Chips were nice. Great location and the decor was lovely.
T. e.
Wonderful pub in the heart of Belfast northern Ireland. Great food and great beer.
p. s.
Wow what a find. The pub is fantastic having been restored to its original condition (bar the gas lights). Great beer & ciders & lovely food. I can recommend the mussels.
D. J. v. R.
If you are in Belfast for a quick visit, this place is ideal to feel you have been in town
S. W.
Great traditional bar. Had a few pints of the black stuff in bar followed by dinner in upstairs restaurant. Staff very friendly and good humoured.
A. B.
Belfast's most famous bar, despite a tourist attraction still fills up with crowds of locals....
M. C.
Loads of character but so busy and noisy it's difficult to fully enjoy.
L. M.
Beautiful old bar. Delicious fish and chips washed down with a pint of Guinness... excellent.
R. S.
We all enjoyed our meals at the crown. Fun authentic atmosphere, good service and good food.
J. W.
Love this pub. It's like stepping back in time
L. B.
The oldest pub in Belfast, and very popular with tourists (like us). However, I love that they had kept all the original features, the wooden ceiling, the carvings, the bell system. It was all authentic and very ornate. Drinking Guiness in a private booth was a great experience too.
J. G.
We were here for a lunch and interier was really great. Also Guinness and food.
J. H.
Tried our first Guiness...glad we did. Our foood and service was excellent!!
B. O.
Its a fine pub
Are there more in the city
A. O.
Lovely big ole boozer! Great staff
K. P.
Very interesting and unique pub near the city centre
M. Z.
Nice pub, good food and nice Belfast lager.
K. C. R.
Unique pub in Belfast City. Well worth to nip in for a few!
A. G.
Great atmosphere, worth at least one drink while in Belfast. Everything is original, and the staff is friendly.
j. b.
Beautiful bar, great beer selection.
A. W.
Great historic pub. Good serve and I recommend sitting In a booth. There is a reason why it's under the care of the National Trust - architecture at it's the best!
C. W. D.
Worth a visit for the elaborately ornate Victorian interior alone—beautifully restored by the National Trust—including the renowned “snugs.” Blessedly quiet pub, with no loud music to impinge on enjoyment.
M. M.
This place is gorgeous. Seriously worth just wandering around the first floor. The pub had good food, and great service. Touristy of course, but wouldn't want to miss it.
L. C.
Beautiful place with amazing historic decorations, they still have gas lamps! Great point of Guinness and cozy private stalls to sit in.
M. P.
I've been there on a short visit, it's conveniently located across the road from the Belfast Europa Bus & Coach station and this bar is worth the hype. This is where the craic is!
P.S. step free access and lots of laughter
M.
A real must visit. A real step back in time and full of history, very lively place.
S. C.
A really excellent, traditional pub with unspoilt decor, good food and a decent choice of Northern Irish real ales.
A. B.
What a lovely old pub great food and a lovely pint of guiness a must place to go in Belfast
G. C.
After a visit to the Titanic experience and the bus tour of Belfast we stopped at the Crown Bar for a well earned pint of Guinness and I wasn't disappointed by the quality of the pint and the wonderful ambience of the bar ,you are transported to a bygone age ,I recommend that anyone visiting Belfast should leave their cars at the a "park and ride facility "which are well located throughout Northern Ireland ,we travelled from the west of Ireland and left our car at Tananamore just off the M1 near Coalisland and caught the bus to the Europa bus centre in Belfast(every half hour) and walked the short distance to the adjacent train station (Great Victoria Street) to catch the Bangor train which stops at at Titanic quarter .
A. B.
Very ornate bar. Great atmosphere.
R. S.
Two visits in and consistent both trips. Service and atmosphere is great. Food is good, but not quite 5 stars.
M. B.
This Pub shows the History and the "Art of drinking" in all his glory. Great place for a pint......
T. L.
Best thing to see in Belfast, a bit pricey, but worth stopping in and absorbing it's eccentric beauty.
P. V.
Amazingly looking pub, likely the best I've ever seen - definitely recommend to check it out when in Belfast. Stuff was nice but not the fastest, food overall good but multiple items from menu were not available. Overall 4/5
K. M.
It’s a must, very good cooked breakfast and obviously great Guinness!
G. m. c.
Cool little spot. It has lots of little snugs that you can close the door on and may aswell be sitting in your own little pub. No music or tv but it's not that kind of place so they wouldn't make sense.
A. M.
Awesome spot for a Guinness!! Perhaps the second best in the world next to St. James Gate.
J. B.
Lovely bar, go for the history , stay for the craic.
M. M.
Beautiful pub! Very attentive staff, especially Andy who was more than happy to answer all of our questions! Nice way to spend an afternoon in Belfast
O. O.
Great place! Brilliant that nothing changes. Can be a bit cold though.
M. K.
Oldy world real irish bar. Great experience here. Little pricey but is expected in Belfast
S. M.
Great bit of belfast history, well worth a visit
J. C.
Amazing pint of Guinness. Great place to stop just before hopping back on the bus.
P. F. B.
Amazing old world pub. Don't miss it on a trip to Belfast!
D. H.
Historic and very beautiful building. With great beer! It's a well known spot, and can be very crowded on weekends.
J. V.
Nice just to visit, and look at the decor while you eat/drink, but we had a cracking night with a local couple who had us in stitches
P. Ó. C.
A great piece of Belfast history.
B. W.
Good stop off just across the road from the opera house and next door to Robinsons bar and restaurant
J. B.
Beautiful old pub, maintained in traditional Victorian tradition - the snugs that have almost disappeared from pubs in the rest of the UK and Ireland are still preserved in their original state, although you'll need to be early or lucky 🍀 to get one. Friendly service and a great pour of Guinness. Food looks good too, although only observed from other people's plates...
S. N.
The interior has to be experienced, good range of beer including handpumps. Food was OK but not great otherwise 5 stars.
B. E.
It's just a pub... BUT... A gorgeous one at that. The detail inside (albeit a little dark) is beautiful. Definitely worth stopping by for a drink.
I. D.
Lovely atmosphere, good beer.
M. T.
Great atmosphere, great staff. Went in for one drink, stayed for 3. Almost felt like "normal"
M. B.
9 snugs and nearly 200 years old! What's not to enjoy!
T. M.
Excellent, cosy Victorian era boozer. Great Guinness and Northern Irish beers. Food is good too
D. E.
A must when in Belfast, I've been told it can get a bit rowdy, but if you sneak into a cabin, it's a great piece of history.
M. P.
Great pub and really nice staff
M. M.
We really enjoyed visiting the Crown Liquor. It a place with more than 100 years history that is still preserved and serves nice food and drinks. The space is great and good to travel back in the years whilst enjoying some time with friends or family. The surrounding location is not quite good but it is possible to walk there from city centre (takes around 30 min). The staff is very much welcoming. This place is just unique, should not be missed.
I. “. G.
Been to the bar four times, 3 whilst working and usually with a few colleagues. The first three visits were back in 2004/5 and it was fantastic with two live bands playing at opposite ends, very lively and entertaining. This recent visit was with my wife during a touring holiday of the whole of Ireland, Belfast was our starting point. The bar was busy, we got served quickly though, and luckily were able to jump into a timely vacated booth. These features are amazing and fun environs... We were then asked by a group of 5 ladies if they might join us the evening got better with loss of chat and interaction, bar staff popping their head in every once in a while to keep the beer wine and soft drinks flowing. The toilets were clean as was the booth. When needed the service at the bar was quick and friendly.... Perfect end to our evening visit to the wonderful city of Belfast, its Christmas market, restaurants and bars. Thank you.
D. B.
Definitely worth a visit for a pint or a dram while in Belfast. Oldest pub in town, something different. Can be very crowded in theate afternoon / early evening.
M. P.
Pub education.
Original gas fired lighting
Best pint Guinness!
T. Z.
Heritage, lovely old bar, most bombed in Europe 🤭
M. M.
Little gem of a place and well worth a visit if your in Belfast. Get a booth if you can, but you might have to prop the bar up for a bit while you wait, as they are very popular. Plenty of seating upstairs otherwise for food.
Food was fast and very hearty. We had the lamb stew, highly recommended
P. K.
Must visit restaurant in Belfast. Lamb stew was so delicious. The interior and service also perfect. Had a great time
p. M.
fantastic historic pub...good food too
S. L.
One of the oldest and best bars to hangouts in Belfast
A. S.
We had a very nice meal upstairs in this establishment.
Great service by friendly waitress.
Downstairs this place is amazing with "booths" behind doors, stained glass windows and a historical bar.
Always busy but you only have to ask to share a booth with strangers and the conversation is great. Many locals and tourists enjoy a drink here.
A must if you are in Belfast
G. O.
Historic place to visit well worth stopping for a drink and relax
C. F.
A wonderful walk down memory lane. Not been in the Crown for over 20 years and still has the same atmosphere and a fine Guinness.
D. H.
Lovely place.. great atmosphere but too many people sitting at the bar.. difficult to get served at times
G. F. E.
Best pub we've been in for ages
Y. S.
Beautiful bar with a good atmosphere and friendly staff.
A bit cold though.
The dinner was lovely, but my portion was unexpectedly small. Especially being the most expensive of 3 ordered dishes, I could never have guessed my dish would be that wee.
Grilled seabass and Fish platter are excellent portions.
Scallops with pork belly though you need to order an extra side dish :(
Very disappointed when waitress bought my plate
(3 scallops, 2 wee slices of pork belly and not enough spuds or vegetables to make up for it)
E. W.
Wow, just wow!
The most incredibly ornate Victorian Pub I’ve ever seen, both interior and exterior. Wide array of outstanding beers including six real ales on hand pumps, all at perfect temperatures and perfectly served. The details of the interior of this place would take pages to describe, so I’ll just say “don’t miss visiting!”
S. C.
Lovely quaint saloon, excellent Guinness 👍
C. B.
One of the best Bars I've been in..
Z. R.
Great pub, be warned they charge £10 to reserve a sung, I turned up around 5pm ish on a Sunday and it was fine and got a sung, enjoyed the food and drinks.
L. S.
Wonderful interior and private booths for good craic all night long.
p.
We had very lovely ulster breakfast here. Very welcoming and kind staff :) Recommend
S. E.
Great out, nice welcoming staff, always worth a visit
S. W.
Obviously very well known in Belfast, but there's no hype about it, it's fully justified. Lovely decor and surroundings, loved the snugs (sadly didn't get in one) and a good range of beers - the Maggie's Leap was excellent. Staff very friendly too. Great pub!
R. R.
Good atmosphere, busy, like the traditional booths
N. R.
Come on - you can't visit Belfast and not see it! Best pulled Guinness in Ireland, North or South.
J. C.
Olde world style pub with stained glass and gas lighting etc. Good range of beer styles available.
J. S.
Serves a delicious pint of Guiness! Good pit stop while waiting on the bus to Newcastle if you are off to treck Slieve Donard.
J. L.
It was a great experience! It was must visit in list of Belfast
G. C.
The snugs/booths and decor/ambience are great. Popular spot, always crowded. Service has improved since COVID
E. B.
Great historic place. Never had a good experience here though and tend to avoid going in as I've never had a pleasant staff experience. My advice, enjoy from the outside, walk through if you want to see the inside and go and get a drink elsewhere...it will be cheaper and more enjoyable.
z.
Great pub with Irish atmosphere. Limiting seating places available.
M. R.
This is a really nice place to have a delicious meal or some drinks!:) Staff is kind, the food is really good and the place is beautiful.
Totally recommended!
A. S.
Wow, what a jewel this pub really is! I came in and was taken back in time. Gas lamps, ornate woodwork, it's truly a historic pub. Great pints offered here, but being from the States a decent pint of Guinness was my number one priority. The bar staff was extremely friendly and very helpful in sharing places in the city to visit. I came back every day I was in Belfast. Thanks for the truly wonderful experience, I loved the pub and the city. Cheers!
C. C.
Great atmosphere... beautiful architecture... love the SNUG 😊
C. D.
Amazing piece of history. I've certainly never seen another bar like it. We arrived too late for food, but service at the bar was quick.
I would recommend stopping in for a drink if you're traveling to Belfast. Definitely worth seeing.
J. D.
Italian mosaic theme. Apparently craftsmen from Italy worked on this place back in the day
J. R.
Gorgeous ornate pub. So glad we visited..
d. s.
Great bar. Brilliant staff. Lovely experience . Everyone should go here at least once in their lives.
K. P.
A great place to enjoy a pint or two of Guinness
J. S.
Fantastically preserved in all it's period splendour, so worth visiting. The staff are great, oh and the drinks are pretty good as well.
H. W.
Reserved a snug online, it did not disappoint!
A. R.
By far the best interior to an olde wolde pub in Belfast. Decent pint of Belfast Black stout too. Put it on yea Belfast to do list.
D. H.
Super friendly, attentive professional staff. Eccelbin customer service. Food was fantastic and quickly served. Stunning interior. Loved it.
D.
Stunning building, delicious food and professional and efficient service.
An experience not to be missed if you visit Belfast.
J. B.
Beautiful Place So much history
W. S.
Fun and completely authentic interior with a lively atmosphere. Be prepared for crowds as this is a very popular stop in the center of Belfast. Prices tend to be higher than normal but you are paying to enjoy the history as well!
C. C.
This is one cracking pub totally unique a real piece of history.
S. D.
Bustling historic pub that is worth a visit very uniquely decorated and the booths are worth nabbing if it's not too busy!
J. “.
Very impressive interior, nice Guinness. Well worth a visit. But could do without the non-customer tourists wandering around taking pics & videos. Spoils the ambiance of an otherwise fine bar.
A. E.
Great atmosphere and quaint interior not to mention great Guinness. Unfortunately no WKD or Pernod available.
p. g.
Lives on its reputation and thats fair enough. Staff v pleasant, food upstairs standard fare.
M. M.
Service was slow.. lunchtime rush, all booths n bar full only 2 staff serving.. all up nice place though
J. M.
Very busy and noisy, good selection of drinks
A. M.
Great atmosphere. Staff really friendly. Good place for lunch. Sit and relax have a glass of local beer
T. W.
Good atmosphere and wide range of beers. We'll worth a visit.
M. A.
The place is amazing, The booths are great fun. The food was poor as was the service.
Pity could have been a great evening out!
B. W.
Really pretty and chilled out placed. The food was amazing and the waitresses could not do enough for us.
S. L.
One of the most beautiful places. The inside ws gorgeous. You have to wait for a snug but it is quite an experience.
E. B.
Definitely nip in for a drink downstairs and to see the spectacular interior, but the service in the dining room upstairs leaves an awful lot to be desired. Even on a quiet Thursday lunchtime with a maximum of 5 tables to serve, the one waitress seemed overwhelmed. After over twenty minutes sat at a table with no one even having come to take a drinks order, when we saw another table who had been seated after us being served first, we left.
J. R.
After a rough day of having our flights cancelled and catching the last bus from Dublin, we stopped in here for dinner.
We ordered some cider, Irish stew, and sausage and champ.
Cider was as expected. Stew, while tasty, was a pretty small bowl, particularly considering we ordered the double portion. The bread that came with the stew (which they went out of their way to tell us we could not take with us), was actually stale and flavorless (we decided we did not want to take it no matter what). The sausage and champ was decent, essentially bratwurst with gravy on mashed potatoes.
The restaurant was very nice inside, and while the staff were not attentive (even though it was empty at the time), were still relatively nice. The food, however, left a lot to be desired. For the price paid and the portions provided, as well as the average quality of the food, I do not believe it was worth it. It was also one of the few places in Ireland we visited that actually asked for a tip on the receipt, which is odd considering the waiter abandoned our table after delivering the food and taking our plates and never bringing the bill. The staff in general seemed somewhat aloof and would disappear behind the kitchen doors for long periods at a time.
"The Crown Liquor Saloon" aka "Crown Bar" uses its historical reputation and tourism attraction to pass off mediocre food and service as something special, which it certainly is not.
V. J.
We chose to dine here, one afternoon; on a whim. The bar was packed so we chose to traipse upstairs. While we waited for our table, we chose to bring a pint of their Belfast Black Stout and Belfast Lager from the bar downstairs.
Their Irish Stew was the best that we have had. Ever. The ‘full-of-flavour, silky and melt-in-your-mouth’ kind. With Soda Bread to accompany it.
Their Yellow Fin Sole was fresh and perfectly cooked, with green beans and such as an accompaniment.
Service was Irish hospitality at its finest, a nod and commendation to Erica and Ellyn. While dessert was available - and so were five different varieties of Bushmills - we resisted temptation this time around.
A must-visit if in Belfast.
J.
Ive never found The Crown terribly warm or particularly friendly . The Guinness is decent & if your lucky you'll get a seat in historic surroundings. The toilet is extremely small & extremely overpowering with the smell of urine! Often no soap to wash your hands either, which is a big No No ! This is a famous pub, lots of tourists come to visit , so the least one should expect, is friendly service & a restroom that does not stink of a sewer & has basic handwashing facilities!
J. J.
Lucky to get seated in a booth, full of character. Good pub grub. Great staff
R. J. W.
Aesthetically stunning: perfect Guinness enjoyed.
P. S.
Superb place for a drink but very busy, great if you can get a booth.
L. D.
Loved this place, food brilliant, staff very welcoming would recommend
E.
We stopped in here during a northern Ireland day trip, and it was fantastic. My sister and I shared the guiness pot pie and stew over a pint and enjoyed all the cool decorations. The service was lovely, and the Irish coffee was even better.
M. G.
Amazing pint of the black stuff 👌
S. S.
A National Trust property and an experience we will return to, if only to enjoy it in normal times. The atmosphere in bars and restaurants is inevitably subdued during Covid and we couldn't really move about to see the rest of the building, but the exclusive cubicles, gas light and good service mean that we will be back to enjoy more.
A. A.
Very old historic pub with lovely little cubicles. Very friendly staff full of atmosphere. Great experience.
N.
Great pint of Guinness or 3 in a beautifully preserved old pub owned by the National Trust. Thanks to the very friendly manager who took the time to chat about the history with us...a great experience, cheers!
A. T.
BrillNt spot to meet up at for pre lunch drinks.
D. S.
The main bar too crowded, three staff not enough. Bar littered with dirty glasses, should perhaps have engaged more staff for what was known to be a very busy night (Christmas Market opening, Christmas Lights switch on, plus Northern Ireland playing football) Restaurant fairly quiet, food very good except for the not so tender tender-stem broccoli hence three stars
B. C.
Just had a meal in the crown .lovely food .great staff very friendly. If in belfast dont miss this pub what a gem Brian from cork.
G. R.
Amazing food as always and a lovely place to spend a relaxing evening with friends
C. S.
Excellent Irish pub food. I was disappointed they were sold out of their famous 'shepard pie' options, but we got there late on a Friday night, around 9pm. We we're seated right away and I had the Mac n cheese with bacon (which is more like ham) and my husband had sausage and champ. Both were very good! I highly recommend either option. The waitress informed us that there is no tipping at restaurants in Ireland. Overall great first dinning experience in Ireland.
W. M.
Fantastic old pub love the private booths
A. L.
Great food and great customer service we loved the old style of the bar and the snugs were so private will definitely visit again
S. H.
A Belfast institution - great choice of beers and spirits - good pub grub - and the structure inside is beautiful. As featured in old movie, this bar is a must visit on a Belfast visit.
J. H.
Very iconic and always packed with people! 🥰
G. T.
Beautiful place to see. Couldn't find a seat -- so went across the street for a pint...
K. Q.
Nice selection of traditional food. Very nice. I have been here many times with myself and my family.
M. S.
A real old-fashioned pub. A great place with a huge selection of beers and gins. Very good also the food. In my opinion, awesome fish&chips. Very nice service. A place that you have to visit if you're in Belfast!
a. h.
great pub cracker atmosphere 👌
t. w. j. f.
Very nice place great food great steak
T. F. (. R. M.
We got right in on a busy day. Great historic pub with great staff and lots of food and drink choices. Order at the bar.
L. B.
The pub had great atmosphere the food was mediocre
J. C.
Went upstairs for food. The beer was good, but the Irish stew was very ordinary, and the portion was really small, considering it wasn't on the cheap side. The ambiance was nice, but kind of ruined by the less-than-stellar food.
I recommend sticking to the bar downstairs for drinks, skip the upstairs and the food.
L. H.
Bar is old and beautiful, but noisy and cold. Most of the old booths are booked in advance, so if you want seating book one beforehand. Otherwise you'll be standing with your pint of Guinness!
P. S.
Fantastic Victorian pub in Belfast with original decor and snugs
S. C.
There are much better pubs than this one.
j. m.
Nice bar in the center of Belfast. It has a lot of character and history. Dating back to the 1880s, it is a listed building belonging to the national trust. It features wooden booths, stained glass windows and gas lights. This bar does a Great bowl of Irish stew. It has lots of different beers and ales to chose from. The bar is just across the road from the main Belfast bus and train station. The bar stays open until midnight all week except Sundays.
s. s.
Been going into Crown for 40 years. Food standards have dropped recently both in quantity and quality. The Guinness wasn't like it used to be either. Shame cause it's a fantastic piece of Belfast's history and a great tourist puller. Food needs to be much better quality and a good Northern Ireland helping of it....let's face it there's plenty of profit in bangers and champ!!!!!
Y. W.
Lovely interior to this old famous pub. Very busy at all times and was never able to sit down. Restaurant area was fully booked too. Nice pint of Guinness here though.
