Great place, lovely open fire for cold days. Staff were really friendly.live music was good too. Yardbird food was amazing, chicken burrito was delicious and the chicken wings. Staff were really nice. Went here a few times.
J. C.
Staff were brilliant and even gave me recommendations on what sights to see whilst I'm in Belfast. Food was incredibly quick but also super yummy, the small wings were more than enough for one person, will be going again on my next visit!!
Z. C.
Visited the Yard Bird and absolutely loved it. Very cool how it is tucked back behind the onion and has a nice rustic vibe. The food was all very tasty and our Waitress was very helpful and friendly to us visitor's :)
A. D.
Hands down one of the best rotisserie chicken I’ve had in my life. And believe me I had plenty all around the world. The chicken is so fresh and well seasoned too! The sides (sweet potato and coleslaw) are also delicious. DONT hesitate to try this place, you will not regret it!
A. C.
We visited Yardbird for the lunch menu, which was great value for money with decent portion sizes served quickly and piping hot. You can watch the food being cooked in the restaurant. The chicken gravy was a real highlight.
The building itself is lovely and the drinks selection in the Dirty Onion was brilliant.

Came in here for a quick drink, very very busy at 6ish on a Saturday evening.
Good atmosphere with live band.
Very lucky to get to a table, wobbly table.
M. J.
Great event on Sunday where dogs had the opportunity to take over the bar stalls selling dog treats collars leads and lots of other things beach area to take photos get a portrait of your dog had a fantastic time would like to thank the organisers hope there is more. Thank you
N. W.
Service was good, food was good, staff very attentive and friendly. Place was very busy and still they coped! Loved the place, organised and very interesting. Not sure how to improve the place other than being thirty years younger!
R. G.
Decent outdoor space with live music and heaters. It's worth a visit. There were 6 of us and a round of drink was £37 and that was only beer so it's not overly cheap, but then again nowhere is in Belfast. The door staff were food crack and it wasn't overly bunged although we were in around 3pm on a Friday.
簡.
Ordered half chicken and two sides
The sides are pretty nice, especially the sweet potato fries, crisp and sweet.
G.
Dirty Onion good meeting point in town for a drink. Wish more seating was available in the outside area! Live music a bonus to add to the atmosphere. On a sunny day the outdoor area is a bit of a sun trap. Drinks at Belfast prices, nothing new there. Friendly staff.

Yardbird Chicken and Sweet Potato Fries!! Excellent! Fun mix of people in an outdoor garden, with live music. A lot of Locals here, always a good indicator. Next door in the Second Fiddle is much quieter and had live Traditional music.

I would sure recommend this place to visit once if you are in Baefast. Their birdyard menu for eating bbq. Chicken and ribs is delight. Ofcourse being one of the oldest building in Belfast, they carry their legacy and have a wonderful alcohol menu to serv and tell more about the alcohol and it's history. The ambience is mixture of old and modern look where the old wooden pillars are adding to the beauty. A party place for sure with loud music and what not. At last I will surely recommend thier yardbird menu to be explored.

The inside was closed, despite it being 1pm on a Saturday, and the only option was to drink from the outside bar in the yard - good job the weather was OK. They obviously don't sell a great deal of craft beer - the can they charged me £5.50 for was only a few days before its BBE date!

St Patrick's Day in Belfast... And we managed to get a booking 👍. We had been there before but some in our party had not. They really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. So, much so we had to go back for a few 🍻👍
R. M.
Really good vibes. Pubs are a bit cramped but the atmosphere is so great that you barely notice.
D. M.
The Dirty Onion and Yardbird is situated on the site of Belfast's oldest building, established in 1680. It offers a combination of outdoor and indoor dining in a rustic themed setting with jazz and blues playing in the background. A limited menu offers chicken and rib dishes at affordable prices.
J. M.
Very good pub. Good to go for nights out. Que for bar can be slightly long when busy, but other than that its fine
P.
Chicken cooked beautifully. They were offering a really good deal for 2 to share of a whole chicken, 2 sides and 2 beers for £17.50. The only downside is the chicken needed some sauce and there weren't many options and the bbq tasted more like brown sauce, otherwise I would have given 5 stars.
f. m.
Really delicious chicken, skin on fries which are so tasty, and fresh coleslaw, the prefect chicken dinner. The beer bird deal also includes beer or wine and is great value for money for 2 people 👌
B. B.
Cool bar! It is the oldest standing building in Belfast from 1680!
B. K.
An amazing mix of a great old Irish pub downstairs and a funky American style dry rub chicken place upstairs. Food upstairs is amazing, the chicken is delicious without being dry and packs lots of flavour. Highly recommend the coleslaw! The pub downstairs has a great and relaxed feel to it with friendly staff serving up great drinks!
D. M.
Great food upstairs in Yardbird, lively atmosphere and great music. Would be another star if hadn't been shoved out of the way by a bouncer for no apparent reason.
R. B.
Amazing experience. Upstairs in the YardBird, the food was amazing, the staff incredibly friendly and happy to help. I would definitely recommend this place (we're thinking about going back tomorrow). Downstairs in The Dirty Onion was just as good. Amazing selection of ales and gins. Awesome staff, and a great atmosphere.
J. G.
Unbelievable barbecue in Ireland. We came from the states, the food was stellar. Be sure to visit and the grilled CORN is legit!
A. G.
Nice and quiet for a few daytime pints. Unfortunately had to be moved outside at 5 although it is nicely covered in with heaters
D.
A great bar with a very friendly barman, Ray.
He chatted to us and made us feel very welcome on our first visit to Belfast. We only went in for one last drink before heading home but ended up staying for over a hour. The range of whiskeys was incredible including one very rare one priced at £195 a measure which is only available in a select few bars in Ireland. Ray made our night so hopefully his manager will give him our thanks as he is a credit to the bar!
M. A. C.
The whole vibe of the place is rustic and nice! The chicken and ribs in Yardbird are the bomb! Make sure to ask for their special sauce and also try their ales!
T. H.
Excellent food and the house pale ale is great. Their food deal (Whole chicken, two sides, two beers for £30) was excellent value. This place can be found upstairs in the Dirty Onion and Yardbird.
M. B.
Atmosphere and surroundings ok. Couldn't believe the price for small glass of sauvignon blanc, and tin of alcohol free lager. Nearly £11. First time out in Belfast in 2 years, not sure if all the bars are charging this price I'll ne back again
J. P.
Very Good food great location and friendly staff will be busy attending weekend so pre book.
J. H.
Not music so zero atmosphere, not soap in bathrooms, heaters were turned off. Drinks ok but some glasses were dirty. I only give the 3 stars for the staff. The place needs more attention to details.
C.
Limited menu: chicken or ribs. I ordered the chicken wings. They had a nice sweet BBQ gaze. The small order comes with 10 wings but they were smaller than I thought they'd be. The sweet potato fries were very good.
K. L.
Good vibes! Love the ambiance, the beer and food! The place is big enough and has outdoor seating. We went for afternoon lunch. Ordered Yardstick Pale Ale which was delicious and went well with the chicken, corn cob and fries.
Highly recommended for groups as well as couples. Great way to see goodbye to Belfast!
S. H.
Unbelievably good ribs, honestly the best ribs and awesome wings combo I have had in years! And as a south African I know my meat dishes, this was 5 star through and through with spotless cutlery, mouth watering food and good vibes. Seriously worth going to, and being dog friendly was just perfect.
C. K.
My favourite place in Belfast. Live music almost every day and prices are really good. So beautiful inside. Love it
And the Yardbird upstairs is quintessentially amazing. Small menu, filled with amazing chicken. Staff is friendly and attentive
R. K.
Really liked this place. From the outside it looks like a smaller place, but once you enter it just keeps going. You can sit outside or inside, lower part is for drinks, upper for food. Very nicely decorated, even the toilettes. Staff is very friendly and you get served fast. Plus the food is tasty. Would definitely recommend.
A. P.
Great pleasure, yummy food and gorgeous gin
D. H.
Came here for Saturday lunch. Easy to get a table, service was absolutely 5*. They have fantastic lunch-time deals, a lovely selection of Suki teas (or they serve great beers if you’d prefer...)
We had the chicken burritos, prepared right in front of you with the fresh roasted chicken. Sadly not homemade guacamole : if there’s anything I’d add to the lunch menu, it’s that.
P. D.
Nice place for a pint and dog friendly
A. T.
Really delicious chicken and ribs there! Portion is good for sharing as well! Recommended to go with a group!
D. P.
Most amazing ribz and dry rubbed chicken. Was recommended highly so gave it a go. Huge portions with a Louisiana twist....
A. V.
Great spot for a pint on a sunny day. Sat outside with our takeaway from Yardbird. Dog friendly!
J. P.
Yardbird good for young people.
Brian the barman great for mixing cocktails and general good crack.
As women of a certain age, nope, won't be back.
Toilets still the same 🥴
Queue for drinks.
But good door security of covid regulations and gently told to leave at closing time .......
Not for older people 🥴
C. H.
Yardbird for lunch in an increadibly cheap place and the DO downstairs is a great place to spend an afternoon. Welcoming staff & nothing too hard. Impossible to fault.
C.
Wonderfully kind service and delicious food!!! Ribs are super tender and juicy, definitely my new favourite 😁
B. W.
Great food and service. Home styled feel to restaurant. A do-again for sure.
K. B.
Great atmosphere, food options were limited and of pretty average quality
L. v. d. B.
Excellent pub! And super dog friendly, always a big plus for us. Wonderful old world ambience with a crackling fire in the comfortable lounge area. A must visit.
M. K. S.
A must go place to spend your night on Friday and Saturday. Live music is awesome. Singer are best.
B. H.
I SOO wanted to give Yardbird 5*a, but it's a very solid 4*.
The chicken is SOOO good! Literally falls off the bones. All chicken should be this good! The sweet potato fries were DELICIOUS. I struggled with a dip for them. (Can I recommend spicy mayo? - mayo, paprika, garlic powder, salt and hot sauce.) The beer was cold and the prices were fine. Oh and the corn was really nice too!!
The sauces -- the Smoky is LOVELY. The "Hot Sauce" -- is literally not hot. But IF you're lucky, IF your waitress is sweet and IF they have some, they've got a secret supply of really, really tasty TRUE hot sauce in the fridge! I mixed with the Smoky for a delicious blend. So amazing!!
Dessert was Apple Pie. To be honest, didn't really care for it. First off, the apples were all baked skin-on. Never seen that before but definitely not so enjoyable. Secondly, the crust -- just no. For me, it's a big no. In fact, the crust ruined what would have been an ok apple pie (skin issue). Fix both and I'm sure it will be lovely.
Folks -- go to Yardbird!! It is delicious! That chicken is really special!!!
K. M.
Interesting place to dine. The atmosphere is at first rather dark and moody, however it grows on you. The food was very, very tasty, and the service was friendly. One issue is the limited nature of the menu. An experience worth having.
J. K.
It was nice place to sit and drink with live music . Staff wore friendly except for one . Small girl . Absolutely no customer service and didn't seem like she wanted to be there and was ignorant . Other than that we enjoyed it
R. B.
The tenderest roasted chicken ever. The best cheesecake that I've tried. A staff that is friendly and attentive. It is a bit pricey but you won't regret trying it.
R. V.
Good location, very different characteristic place. Perfect for a sunny warm day. There’s no roof but heating is available. Usually very busy in the evening and limited seating.
M. A.
I love this pub/restaurant. All food is pork or chicken and very tasty. I recommend this place for a good beer and enjoy good food with your friends. Downstairs there is always Irish music so creates a good atmosphere. If you like Ireland traditional music, this is a good pub for enjoying it
G. M.
Great food. The chicken especially. Comfortable atmosphere.
D. M.
Excellent chicken and chips with beer. The gravy was really yummy. Good ambiance, friendly staff. Dx
L. M.
Better seating outside, bum sore on metal seats but I'm an older generation haha
C. F.
Food was gorgeous , i had chicken with avocado salad , pureed sauce on salad was amazing. Staff were knowledgeable in the ingredients and attentive . Chris was our waiter and he was excellent.
L. S.
Lovely beer garden in a historical building with spacious seating area. The drinks menu is comprehensive. The food menu is limited -- chicken, ribs, burritos plus sides, but not disappointing at all. My burrito was delicious and my beer was great, too. Kind, friendly service.
C. K.
We came across The Dirty Onion and Yardbird yesterday while looking for a dog friendly restaurant in Belfast. These guys were so welcoming and were delighted to see our two (large!) dogs with us! Lovely food and atmosphere, and a great place to go with furry friends 😊🐶
1.
Very quite on a Sunday afternoon. Great service, dog friendly and atmospheric surroundings.
Loved it and would recommend it to you.
M. S.
Had dinner in Yardbird. The food was lovely, the staff were friendly, the service was excellent, the restaurant itself is a comfortable place to sit, and all great value for money
B. M.
Fine pints. Tasty food. Great live music. Stop reading and experience it yourself!
S. T.
Managed to get one of the last sittings for the night here last week and was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food.
While I was expecting a fancy Nandos I actually ended with a gorgeous meal full of flavor, great atmosphere with lovely servers and all at a great cost.
If you’re going order a rack of ribs. I’ve never tasted them as good in my life!
M. M.
Good spot, slightly expensive for some drinks hence 4 stars
Food in yardbird was pleasant, staff friendly
N.
This venue offers an amazing beer garden which often has live music. Inside is dark and intimate, with interesting things to look at around the walls. It also has a giant fire which is perfect for the cold winters and to top it all off, it is a dog friendly pub; which are few and far between in Belfast.
S. R.
Good food and very fun atmosphere, the service was friendly as well.
F. M.
We enjoyed the food. It was so delicious. Staff are also welcoming. They attended all our needs. Highly recommended in Belfast.
T. K.
Yardbird - super trendy place for a meal. Great vibe, efficient service, cosy setting. Good ribs, wings and BBQ sauce.
R. M.
Fabulous ace great food not expensive excellent service
Amazing outdoor area
M. G.
Great staff the young lady upstairs give me a lend of a phone charger when I was stuck
A. N.
We travelled to Belfast on a weekend trip and this was one of the most highly recommended pubs by the locals. We were here on a Friday night and it was packed to capacity. It has a great vibe to it. There was live music band playing which was unique and quite entertaining.
B. M.
Service was great. Music was good. Loved the atmosphere.
Have been back a few times since the original review and never been disappointed. They obviously have some new staff now; if you're lucky enough to be served by Chad you will find him the friendliest Canadian in the World.
M. G.
Live music 🎶 bit rowdy but good atmosphere
L. P.
Fantastic place ! Great live music and great pint of Guinness !! Highly recommend!
C. H.
Yardbird = Good chicken and not too pricey. The hot sauce isn't too spicy. Dirty Onion = Good beer and Whiskey selection.
K. R.
Loved this restaurant! Had a very deep south vibe to it and the food was to die for. Staff were very pleasant and attentive. I cant wait to go back here again
M. F.
The food is amazing. Do not believe me, go and try it if you like chicken.
A. W.
Ate in the Yardbird. Food fine, staff lovely, urgently needs a seperate bathroom to the one used by the Dirty Onion.
A. L.
Great deal for food but chicken was dry in some areas. Got tiny bits of fries instead of normal sized fries. Service was mediocre. Good for quick stop for a meal.
C. X.
Yardbird lunch ... Get the burrito you won't be sorry (or hungry for the rest of the day!!!) Great, fast service, yummy food and friendly staff.
L. W. -. D.
Fantastic food and service!! Couldn't ask for more.
T. B.
My favourite place to take guests. Ok the menu is limited, but if you like chicken and chips it's the best in Belfast. Only got 4 stars because the beer is expensive..
J. P.
Great spot for dinner, good food & lively atmosphere.
D. H.
Great food in the yardbird !! Savage scene and good live music spot..
S. K.
I enjoyed this gem. We ended up getting food because it looked great and it did not disappoint. Staff were lovely and friendly.
M. K.
Nice place and great grilled chicken and chips.

It was nice place to sit and drink with live music . Staff wore friendly except for one . Small girl . Absolutely no customer service and didn't seem like she wanted to be there and was ignorant . Other than that we enjoyed it

Nice bar with decent beer. We went mid week when it wasn't very busy and was quiet. I imagine over the weekend the place is vibrant and buzzing.
R. V.
Good location, very different characteristic place. Perfect for a sunny warm day. There’s no roof but heating is available. Usually very busy in the evening and limited seating.
A. K.
Went for a few drinks great atmosphere great service

Great for a pint, if you're a tourist worth sticking your head in
P. K.
Great vibes and promot service, was here on NYE! Live music was brilliant! Would reccomend
K. S.
Great buzz and live music a must for those seeking a lively night out in Balfast
J. K.
Went to the dirty onion and yardbird on a Sunday night and was not disappointed. Queue outside but moved swiftly. Sat inside near the back and has a lovely waitress called Rebecca serving us all night! Live music was a great addition. Will be back again.
J. P.
Great spot, very crowded and busy but the craics great.
A. E.
No frills chicken and chips, but always a good meal if a little expensive for what it is.
S. R.
Atmosphere is really good and traditional. With the fire alight and music playing it's such a nice and comfortable place to sit and chat.
C. J.
I had an excellent meal at the Yardbird. Service was friendly. It was busy but the table spacing and staff hygiene/ precautions made me feel at ease (COVID-19)
M. M.
Possibly the best rotisserie chicken in belfast. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.
M. S.
Went to Yardbird. Awesome food. Chicken was perfection. Gonna try the ribs next time - they looked ace! Only downside was waiting forever to actually pay the bill - if we hadn't have got up to pay it ourselves, I'm sure we would have been waiting another 15 mins.
G. W.
Lovely experience. Very quiet which suited me. Food was fab and great service.
Very cool bar
D. M.
Went here for lunch. Simple menu but really tasty and would go back again. The waitress was very friendly. Only thing is that I felt it was a bit dark inside.
M. B.
We tried Yardbird for lunch today it was great, the service was great and 1/2 chicken was delicious and the fries too. Not much on the menu but it’s done well I would recommend it to anyone for lunch.
S.
Wasn't hungry much so just ordered a 1/4 chicken and a pint. Finished it Immediately ordered another 1/4 bird (and maybe 2-3 more pints)
j. l.
Great atmosphere and great music . All ages great fun xx
D. T.
Had the 1/4 chicken lunch combo with the house Pale Ale; good food, nice environment!!
M. T.
Large open and airy place. A great male singer Jaram Gavero held a big crowd with his awesome music. A fun casual night!
R. W.
Had a great time here.. Excellent bar downstairs (Enjoyed a pint of Belfast Black) with decent chicken restaurant up stairs..
M. F.
Quite possibly my favourite city bar in the world. To anyone interested in architecture and reclaimed buildings, this place is incredible. The exposed beams and brickwork is amazing and I’ve literally stood in awe and admired the beauty of this building.
Secondly the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Thirdly the food is incredibly tasty and so I’ve yet to find a bar/restaurant (other than its immediate neighbours) who come anywhere close to this place.
A. K.
Went for a few drinks great atmosphere great service
S. S.
Clean and sanitized tables. Friendly staff. excellent ambience and live music.. Cheers...
r. f.
Was great atmosphere with afternoon tunes will be back
A. H.
Brilliant and live music every night,
M. S.
Ambience and music good along with the drinks... Only concern is food.
M. J. H.
Food was really nice but not a lot on the menu for choice
G. M.
Decent choice of lagers and ales, check Facebook whether there's any promotions on. Chicken burgers we had tasted great, but an ice cube would've been a touch warmer. Unfortunately for non-smokers the enforcement of the smoking rules when the canopy is closed is ignored so be prepared to smell like an ashtray the next day.
T. G.
Perfect for quiet pint while shopping or before heading 'out-out' into town.
Great atmosphere and a unique building means it is great for showing off to visiting family/friends, as well as sampling some perfectly poured pints and cocktails. Usually there is some form of open air singing over the weekend which builds to the character of the place.
F. B.
Many pubs, perfect for pub crawl. The dirty onion is very big and very lively. I enjoyed the live music and good vibe.
M. D.
Been here couple times foods great and bar has laid back feel great for large groups with large tables and smoking area !
E. M.
Great rotisserie chicken and sides, great value
G. R.
Nipped between here and the thirsty goat, good atmosphere
P. L.
Great place. The street and place itself are very famous in Belfast. Must visit and enjoy live music with good drinks
M. H.
Good atmosphere and good chicken!
b.
One of the best pubs for those who love their evening relaxation with busy live music and ecstatic fellows all around.
A. B.
Great grilled chicken and chips. Love their sweet potato chips too.
I. P.
Live music and great weather 👌 spot on
C. H.
Great place, buzzing atmosphere and tasty Guinness! Also a live band while we were there.....top place.
K. B.
Good food, great atmosphere, friendly staff and a really cheap lunch menu only £5!
P. D.
Well run pub,on the ball at all times, security staff, bar staff, bar staff collecting glasses and all very friendly and do a great job. Great music all the time.
S. F.
Good selection of drinks. Outdoor seating area was comfortable and warm. Pet friendly too.
J.
Very limited menu and overpriced for what you get.
S. C. G.
100% Recommended!
The price and the food it's really good!
If you prefer the doggy food you can go to the dirty onion!
😋
B. L.
Beautiful atmosphere, seeing everyone having fun made our night better. Live music is definitely a plus.
L. M.
A well presented place with a packed energetic atmosphere. This place is very busy so you may wish to buy two drinks at a time to save the understandable wait due to how popular this place is. I really like the contemporary decor of the place. They feature live traditional music which was a nice touch. When it was quiet the bartenders seemed to lack enthusiasm and but other than that a prime choice for a night out in Belfast
W. P.
Great pub and nice restaurant. Lot of party on the weekend. Belfast oldest building.
N. P.
The food was delicious. They had a great dinner deal for two. Get a whole chicken, 2 sides, & 2 beers or wine. We are everything. Afterwards, we went downstairs & listened for traditional Irish music in the pub & chatted with the bartenders. It was a perfect night.
M. O.
What a really cool find this was. The dirty onion downstairs is a pub with a nice tap beer selection. I can picture this being a great place to get a beer or a great place to go on a date plenty of seating as well as communal tables for a guys night out. Upstairs is the yardbird... This place has a different selection of beers and you can't miss the tasty birds rotating in the rotisserie. All in all I would say it's a really cool place to visit.
G. D.
We booked a party here for an afternoon for about 30 people and had the absolute best time! The staff was incredibly attentive and were so excellent in their service. We had a BBQ done for the party and the food was all absolutely delicious. The atmosphere of this place is great! Will definitely be back here again. Thank you to the staff for all their hard work!
P. M.
Been here for drinks and it was a great night out in the yard. They had love music and was very good. Returned for food upstairs in yard bird. Great wings and ribs. Very tender ribs with great flavours. Wings were also good. Quite a big portion with the rib and wings combo! Quick service also!
P.
We ate upstairs at the dirty Onion and I can honestly say it's the best chicken I've ever had! The price is really reasonable too what more could you ask for.
J. M.
Food here is nice. A very select menu which I like. We each had the quarter chicken lunch deal and shared the wings. Everything was good, super quick service. Love the decor and vibe. The bar is also great, we've drank here lots. Particularly love the outside area.
J. H.
Best burrito I've ever had. Chicken is straight from the spit. Washed down with a Guinness. Superb.
N. F.
Sweetest smelling Gents toilets ever. Guinness was good. Reckon this is a great place for all ages.
D. N.
Nice selection of beers and nice atmosphere. Big area outside too!
S. M.
Service was v.good and staff really friendly. Guinness is good and food not bad either. They also serve Maggie's Leap on draft in cool glasses, very refreshing pint.
J. C.
Just ok. Standard drinks on tap, above average prices. Food was served in takeaway boxes but i will assume this was due to Covid.
J. M. V.
We had dinner and, although there was not much variety of food, the meat we ate was delicious and very well cooked. We also enjoyed the variety of beers and the service was very kind with us. For us, one of the best things, was that after the dinner we could enjoy awesome live music and the atmosphere created in that moment was great. Recommended!
S.
The service here was pretty non existent. The chicken was juicy though however lacking in flavor. Chicken wings and sweet potato fries were good. Also probably one of the best coke with lemons I've ever had, no lie. Dessert slices were huge and served with ice cream, that was enjoyable.
G. M.
We were in the yard bird for a meal ,good food and well organized re covid, only downside is that we had to go through the dirty onion which was packed with non mask wearing crowds
A. F.
A great place but possibly not during the Covid-19 issues and especially on a Monday night! Everywhere else in Belfast appears to be closed, mainly.due to only people who are eating and only where the bar has an outside drinking area can benefit. Everywhere without a beer garden has shut for the foreseeable future and cannot invite people.inside to enjoy the atmosphere. Admittedly it's not their problem, it isn't anyone in particular, just disappointing but was inevitable in these difficult and unusually unusual times, if that makes sense??!!
G. D.
Great food at great prices. Their meal portions are larger than expected. If you want value for money, I would suggest going here. Only downside is that because it's so popular, it can be difficult to get a table..however, the wait times are usually minimal.
It has a great atmosphere and the waiting/bar staff are always friendly and professional each time we have been here (Approx 5x times so far). One time, they ran out of sausages for one of their specials so they offered to discount another meal to match the price. This was unexpected but gratefully received and a shining example of how to run a business that focuses on each individual customer rather than cramming people in and seeing them as numbers.
If you happen to get it on the menu, I wholeheartedly recommend you try the pork loin. Two big pieces of pork on homemade champ with crackling black pepper sauce. Delicious!!
m. p.
Amazing cute and cozy place! And food! God! The best ribs and sweet potatoes ever!
M. M.
Chicken was a little dry, and the chairs uncomfortable.
B. H.
Excellent spot. Went for food last week at lunchtime. Lots of chicken available, in various forms. I went with the wings and sweet potato fries. Apparently the alcohol selection is also good, but I can't comment on that as I don't drink. Food was lovely and well priced. Decent variety of soft drinks. Friendly staff. Good location. Recommended!

Yardbird
In the middle of the cathedral quarter in a old warehouse building above the Dirty Onion bar. There is a one way system in place to accommodate social distance.
We had 1/4 chicken, skin on fries, and salad.
No complaints, staff pleasant and helpful, nice cold beer.
Simple food done well, a regular stop for me when in Belfast
C. D.
I loved it here! I am traveling alone and it’s usually difficult to get a place for dinner which is popular, tasty and still fits for one only. I got a place by the open kitchen, started talking with some fellows next by, had a good chilled evening! Not to mention the food was lovely! I am happy they don’t take reservations, makes everything more relaxed!
A. B.
Fire, beer, and a mix of traditional music and contemporary music. Has something for everyone, tourists and locals alike.
A. “. R. M.
Friendly service, good live music, would visit again as a wide selection of whiskeys and beer.
R. C.
Great spot for music, food and drinks :)
J. B.
Great place I love it here definitely go!
L. R.
A very pleasant outdoor beer garden. Drink selection is decent but as expected pricey. Queue time to get in varies and pre booking isn't possible
W. W.
Past visits have usually been with a group, always on a busy evening and in the outdoor area, which were always perfectly fine (if a little claustrophobic). Stopped by recently, on a quieter mid-week afternoon, and finally got to sit inside. I honestly felt bad it had taken me this long to finally enjoy it, because the place itself has a lovely, cosy quality that I'd completely overlooked - and much preferred!
C. W.
Great venue with good atmosphere and friendly staff. Music was too loud to hear each other a lot of the night unfortunately
E. J.
We met friends here for a few quiet drinks and ended up having an amazing not so quiet night. The drinks are similar to other bars in the area and they offer a good selection. The live music was brilliant and the open building itself was really beautiful, even in the rain!
T.
A brilliant pub with some good beers on also does cracking food.
J. D.
Lovely atmosphere, drinks competitively priced. Plenty of seats inside but outside you couldn't swing a cat! All in all great for a few drinks then move on to sample some more of Belfast's great bars in Titanic quarter 😍
M. “. B. G.
If you like rotisserie chicken and ribs this is the place for you.
Bar below serves a good selection of ale.
They have local musicians in most nights, playing some traditional music.
No TV. No sports.
Have an outside area that is heated.
Good crowd
M. V.
I really don't know where to begin. The staff is very pleasant and polite. The building itself is one of the oldest in Belfast, so don't be put off by rugged looks, as it only brings more to the whole charm.
Now, the important things... Food. I've had my fair share of rib dishes, and I can honestly say that nothing even begins to describe the heavenly, succulent smokey flavor and perfect texture that these ribs bring. Every bite is catapulting you towards the orbit made of pure joy and happiness. You'll want more, however unfortunately human stomach can only fit so much. Make sure to finish your meal, or you will be sorry later. We'll definitely be coming back.
B. C.
It's ok, foods ok, prices ok. Staff are great and the location is lovely too. Though should you really be going to a restaurant based on location and how good the staff are?
K. H.
Awesome food, tunes and staff
P. S.
Fun atmosphere, good live music, friendly bar staff and good prices.
M. K.
Griled Chicken World, fantastic music , perfect service
G.
Decent cocktails and a cosy, pleasant outdoor seating area. Inside feels a little like a German pop-up beer tent, though: dark and dingy. Good drinks and friendly staff. The ribs are fantastic.
M. G. (.
Nice and popular bar, not my type of place as can be very very busy with quantity over quality, but that is my take. Over all a great spot, nice big outdoor beer garden and an equally impressive indoor area which manages to pull off the small Irish pub feel in a big space.
P. H.
Sorry to say this place did not stand out in any way. Average range of drinks and average prices. It strikes me as rather dingy inside but sadly not to dark to see the stuffed goat and all the pictures on the wall of, erm, goats.
D. G.
Good chicken at a reasonable price.
R. L.
Fantastic, value for money and great atmosphere.
A. N.
Great pub with cozy indoor space and partially heated, covered outdoor beer garden. Dog friendly and also kid friendly in the afternoon. No food served in the pub, but the Yardbird upstairs has good, casual food for great value (must love chicken!).
L. L.
Great dining experience and great value. Would definitely return if I was in Belfast again.
H. B.
This is an interesting place.
We went on St Patrick's Day. Very busy.
Had dinner here which was fun informal and tasty.
I have been previously and found that a bit more reserved outside of the event.
It's one of those places that mix inside outside and multi levels. The dirty onion has that rustic feel, but was apparently clean and well kept.
D. M.
First restaurant we stopped at in Belfast and it's a hard one to beat because the food here is amazing. We had the ribs and wings combo with a quarter chicken and all of it was delicious. Both the hot sauce and bbq sauce were very flavorful. Atmosphere was nice and casual. The Dirty Onion downstairs has great music as well.
E. L.
Great food, the homemade coleslaw was awesome, nice atmosphere and fantastic friendly service
A. H.
Excellent food. Friendly staff. Would definitely go back again
J. D.
Good beers, good whiskeys, warm fire, friendly staff and room for dogs. Can't beat it.
R. N.
Amazing service, great food, fun with the family!!!
D. K.
Great place. Fantastic ambiance, the peat fire lends a warming air to the place. Always very bustling, so best to try to get down earlier rather than later. Lots of good drinks. Upstairs there's a good chicken restaurant that's also worth stopping by if you're looking for an excuse to drop by earlier in the evening.
D. C.
Was in here tonight absolutely brilliant! Great live music and Joshua and neill our server was so good to us! Be back again very soon! Really recommend coming in for a pint and music ☺️
J. S.
Cozy, warm historic building with excellent service and traditional, live music, although not an "old man's bar". Gorgeous turf fire, expertly poured drinks. I love the atmosphere of this place!
J. W.
Fun outdoor venue, live music and great atmosphere.
D.
Lovely inside food was good but not enough on the menu. the ribs are down yee.
S. M.
Brilliant spot for a Thursday night in the Cathedral Quarter when the Broken String Band play their version of Bluegrass. Great craic. Very accomplished musicians and no cover charge! On the downside they play in The Yard which can get cold as it is basically a covered outside space. But well worth the visit. Drink prices are average for the area.
S. M.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. I highly recommend and dog friendly outside
J. S.
Great outdoor space. Large bar inside with upstairs restaurant. Ribs were ok. Boiled then grilled which I’m not a fan of to be honest. The reviews of the rotisserie chicken are good but I didn’t try that. Good service. Inexpensive. ££
R. R.
Good beer, pork ribs were a bit dry, however it is a acceptable pub.
R. S.
Old city centre pub that draws a big crowd. Multiple places to drink including some seating inside and outside. Bartenders were friendly. Good selection of beers, gins and whiskey. Be prepared to navigate a big crowd on a weekend.
E. B.
Brilliant Rotisserie chicken the best skin on fries I've had outside the US, but the standout dish was the avocado salad. All served in a seriously cool space to the sound of the blues. If you are in Belfast you've got to eat here!
A. A.
Busy Bank Holiday Monday good atmosphere and dog friendly
S. T.
It would have been 4 stars for the amazing chicken and sides and service but the wine choices were absolutely awful and extremely overpriced. A bottle of Brancott Estate was £25! Both the red and white was awful. Was flabbergasted and they really didn’t taste good at all. I would definitely suggest you consider changing your wine list.
D. E. D.
One of the oldest buildings in Belfast that offers a cozy pub experience and a restaurant focusing on chicken dishes. I loved that this place is also dog friendly and besides the bowl of water, our dog got a complimentary treat! We'll be back! :-)
M. B.
Great food. Chicken was moist and the chilli sauce is tasty
K. M.
Upstairs,at the back of large pubs smoking area.
Very small menu of chicken. 5ish dishes & a veggie option.
I ate here early in the evening so it was quite. I got the half chicken & a side of coleslaw. It arrived very quickly as the chicken is already cooked.
The chicken was a little dry in places. The "house" sauces are very tasty.
Overall, I would reccomend but wouldn't be rushing back.
R. T.
Great live music, good atmosphere and reasonably priced beverages!
D. J.
Nice atmosphere, popular bar
A. F.
Very pleasent to sit and have a drink as we did... but on looking at orders we would definitely go and order here. Very pleasent staff.
S. Q.
Ribs and Chicken. A great combination and portions to match your appetite. Down stairs something happening every night. In the warmer months great place to sit outside and enjoy the ambience.
So good I come back every year when I come over.
C. C.
A fantastic bar in a cool local spot. Chris, the bartender at the Dirty Onion on a Friday night, was awesome. I asked about him whiskey, and he was incredibly knowledgeable. He was a wonderful host, and I would highly recommend visiting here.
A. M. R.
Best ribs ever! You won't regret to ask for them, trust me. And even the fries, are really nice, and the house's sauces. Everything on the menu is really nice, and the waiters are very helpful.
J. B.
The Dirty Onion was so jam packed we moved right on to the Yardbird and got a table right away. The service was good. The chicken was too. But the ribs. Oh boy, they were delicious. I'd give the ribs alone a 5star. The whole package though wasn't my favorite.
C. E.
Lots of choice, great atmosphere and excellent food upstairs.
R. S.
Chicken at The Yardbird was good - really tasty - but portions were small and the chips are an odd style, really hot oil so they're a little bitter and slightly caramelized. Not to my taste. Service was okay, and they were busy for an early Sunday dinner.
A. B.
When there was so much happening in the pubs around this was place was quite. I went there twice but didn't sit in. There was some live music being played which didn't attract me but you can go and check if there is some great in the books. Ambience was pretty OK for me.
D. M.
Great bar in cathedral quarter. Massive beer garden and food served upstairs. Roast chicken and chips like a posh Nandos.
Belfast has some great pubs and this definitely one to add to your night out 👍🏻
J. B.
Good rotisserie chicken served here. Skip the lunch burrito, there was one piece of chicken in it, and the flavor of paprika was so strong, it overpowered everything else in it. Friendly staff, and a nice bar.
L. C.
Extremely nice atmoshpere: lots of tiny lights, acoustic music, friendly people.
It's usually very crowded and there's a huge queue to the counter, so even just taking a beer and making it back to your friends without spilling half of it on the crowd can be quite hard.
C. R.
Always a great afternoon and night!
C. D.
Good service , food was OK
N.
Came here to grab a drink and some food on a Tuesday evening. Walked through the Dirty Onion beer garden, which looked pretty chill and would be very nice with some live music. Went onwards to the Yardhouse which had a rustic, casual feel to it. Was hoping to get the beer and chicken special for 2, but was un able to sub one of the beers for a cider. Ended up getting a half chicken and the avacado salad. Paid 14 pound for that which didn't feel too overpriced. For a place that only serves rotisserie chicken I was expecting something better. The white meat was dry, the dark meat was okay, and there was minimal avacado on the avacado salad. Their sauces didn't have a ton of flavor either. Waitstaff was pretty attentive and nice. I think this place would be good to come to for a few beers when they have live music, but I would pass on the chicken.
D. G.
It’s a fantastic social environment that serves good quality food. It’s a lovely pub perfect for all occasions and weather unless very cold. Lots of whisky options and a nice open fire with live music.
N. J.
Short menu. Just chicken. Was ok.
S. M.
Absolute perfect fun, the oldest building standing in Belfast
B. H.
Never heard of the joint until I got assigned to do a delivery to here. See when it stated to deliver to The Dirty Onion I immediately headed for Union Street area, because they all dirty onions round there.. Anyway took a while to find it. Must say, the place is not short of smoking areas. You can smoke and drink until your hearts content in here unlike other pubs and clubs which forces you to stand outside away from the atmosphere of whichever drinking den prohibits smoking while enjoying your pint at the same time.. If your a smoker and enjoy a pint while smoking, this is the place to go to..
E. R.
Nice atmosphere and surroundings. Friendly bar staff happy to explain and discuss their products. I'm not a whiskey person but they had loads all with a description and clear price!
M.
Second visit to the Yardbird Restaurant and still no regret!
One of the best chicken I ever ate, crispy sweet potato fries and refreshing beer. The service is friendly and the atmosphere enjoyable! The Dirty Onion also organises lots of concerts and shows, from traditional to alternative music. A good way to end your day :)
G. F.
Amazing bar with great atmosphere right in Belfast's city center 🍻
S. M.
It's quite the venue with its dramatic backdrop of the former building. We were there for the St. Patrick's Day celebrations and everyone was outside and dancing away to the band who played a variety of 90s medlies and classics. Relatively quick bar service too considering how busy it was.
S. V.
We had dinner at Yardbird and it was amazing! We shared a whole chicken with two sides and two beers for £25! What a deal! Food was delicious and staffs are very friendly. Definitely recommended 👍
R. G.
Nice place for drinks but as I don't enjoy chicken roast, can't say much about the food. Found it a bit dry especially after you are used to the great oven cooked chicken in India
I. B.
I love their chicken and the avocado salad!!!
E. M.
Best for pub atmosphere in Belfast. Old building and yard with very little in the way of luxury put into it. But it pulls a crowd on a saturday night and the music is good albeit loud. Pity the thirsty goat next door have added a yard as their music was competing with the yard bird so that was annoying when 2 different songs playing over each other. Great location.
J. P.
Great place! Great bar, with plenty of room outside when we finally get some sunshine. The yardbird, does reasonably priced food and it is excellent. The bar is on the expensive side, but that is expected from the Cathedral quarter.
P. B.
We had a really great time yesterday 7 December. Thanks to Annie, Finn and Natasha for making it a great night. Really enjoyed seeing Drum and Bates again
M. S.
The Pub atmosphere is great. The stuff was very busy and not much friendly, but Lucy very kind and helpful.
b.
I really like this bar. It isn't as busy or packed as the more pretentious Harp bar further down. Its like a cantine bar with a chicken eatery up the stairs (i havent went there yet). It is a lot more relaxed than the other cramped bars in Belfast and has an open fire and some comfy seats near it. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to chat and have a quiet drink. There is live music in it too. Plenty of choice in beers and ciders too.
C. S.
Full rack of ribs, some beautiful sweet potato fries and the smell of slow cooked chicken. Lovely atmosphere and great blues playlist to listen to. Can't wait to go back.
B. Z.
The Ribs are to Die for! Great food !
N. K.
Snug old pub in the heart of Belfast. You can choose from several beers and ales and also a couple of wines. When we visited there was a group of bongo players, which was cool! It was a bit too loud to talk, but really one vould just move some tables and get some more quite. But as I said it was actually quite cool to listen to the folks and their drums.
M. H.
Have been here twice - a fantastic place! First time on a Saturday late evening for drinks, amazing live music, great atmosphere and love the wooden 2nd floor. Second time on a weekday to get some food upstairs: the chicken is delicious! Defo a place to experience in Belfast!
M. M.
3 flutes, a tin whistle, a fiddle, bag pipes and 40 wings - perfect Sunday afternoon. Loved the look of the place and traditional music session! You have to try chicken wings from Yardbird - they're to die for!
C. H.
Really inconsistent pints here. Worked in the bar trade so know that it's how they're treating their glasses. Can spot it a mile off.
The smoking area is a full on beer garden and is lovely. Friendly doorstaff. There's a restaurant upstairs I think but never been up.
Anyway. Ok overall.
K. M.
Very small menu, but lovely food and great beer.
M. N.
I'm a fan of this bar; cosy and dark inside and spacious and bright outside. One complaint I have is that they have changed the seating area outside, no longer do we have the medieval banquet style communal long tables.
K. N.
Loved the pub. Closes too early though
G. W.
Supposed to be no reservations for tables. Two tables in shaded area empty all afternoon with reservations placed on them. Bar staff asked for Bloody Mary sent out vodka and two sachets of ketchup.
N. C.
Authentic bar with great selection of beer. Despite being there in May, it was too hot inside, so we enjoyed our drinks out on the patio, where there was plenty of seating and heatlamps.
My husband and I actually returned the following night to eat upstairs at the Yardbird. We got their Beer'n'Bird special with was a TON of delicious food!
S. M.
Best rotisserie chicken. Avocado salad was really good, too. Beer and bird special gets a whole chicken, two sides and two beers for 24. Dirty onion pub downstairs has live music
J. J.
Nice wee lunch. Nice staff. Seats all outside, but well covered over should it rain.
J. C.
We popped in here before heading to the airport and we're glad we did. We all had the lunch deal - quarter chicken with a side. Very tasty and great value. Friendly and attentive staff.
S. K.
I went here when visiting Belfast to get some good local craft beer and food. First of all, Yardbird does not have the same selection of beer as the Dirty Onion, so I settled for a bottle of Yardsman BPA, which is OK. The chicken was dry but the sweet potato chips were lovely. Given this is a chicken place, having dry chicken is pretty bad. Visited pretty early in the evening, so don't understand why it was so dry.
M. P.
Great outdoor, covered terrace areas with bars, heaters and a stage area for all year round music. Top Irish rockers Crow Black Chicken played a great session.
N. R.
Very smoky inside as it's basically an awning. Lovely, but at over £6 for two soft drinks, you'd have to really love Irish folk songs.
E. M.
Food and cocktails were good
E. F.
succulent ribs and crispy roasted chicken, gone in a flash. we regretted nothing.
H. W.
Probably my most frequented bar in Belfast. Spent many a great night here with friends. One of the best places to visit for any occasion involving a G&T or a pint. Quite the selection of spirits and beers. They are also one of the only places to stock two of my favourite beers, Einstok and the Erdinger Winter Special.
If you want to hear some great live music whilst you have a nice drink, this is the place! Particularly good on a sunny summer Belfast evening!
M. F.
Brilliant bar with class beer garden and live music which was brilliant only downside is price of pints which at 5. 90 is totally over the top
A. I.
Great beer and music, old building open to the stars with exposed beams and scaffolding
K. W.
I was visiting Belfast, saw the sign for this restaurant. Made it in for dinner. Had the chicken, sweet potato fries and a YardBird Pale Ale. The food was great as was the service. If I had been staying in Belfast longer, I would have gone back.
b.
Amazing rib and wing restaurant upstairs called the yardbird . The ribs are slow cooked and literally fell off the bone . Best ribs I have ever had . I bought 2 bottles of their bbq sauce also. Deserts were fab . Overall great experience. I will return
B. J.
Very mediocre food for the price
S. K.
Visited there twice when we were over for a few days hol on the Saturday afternoon live band 2 guys were really good great atmosphere big plus was opening the outside bar had a brilliant afternoon
S. T. (.
Great food and super live music, i can recommend it to all. Im the first time here in Belfast, but i like to Fall it my new livingroom. Fantastic
C. B.
13 of us were there for a stag do at the weekend and the Yardbird is one of the main places to go. Really enjoyed it there. It does get quite busy later on in the night as it's very popular
A.
Great selection of beer and party atmosphere
D. B.
Nice place for a beer or irish whiskey.
A. M.
Brilliant atmosphere and as an added tourist bonus it's the oldest building in belfast! Or at least the entrance way to the bar is. The drinks are pretty great too.
J. R.
Menu is limited but that is the whole point. Food is excellent bbq chicken, chips and chunky coleslaw. Very popular be prepared to wait at least 1/2 hour. Staff very friendly and helpful.
C. C.
Really liked the building-different! Outside an in...massive bar..toilets outside are a little light..average pint is £4.50. Busy - mixed crowd. Definitely worth a visit..a very hip place in town these days..
D. S.
Didn't seem interested in talking to Americans downstairs in the Dirty Onion, but the waitress was lovely in the Yardbird. My husband's chicken was dry, but mine was good and the sweet potatoe fries were great.
m. b.
A very hip place in Belfast w great drinks/ live music. Also great restaurant above called Yardbird. Terrific roasted chicken.
H. A.
hats off to the waitress, the one with purple hair, you know who you are, kindest and nicest waitress I've ever met
N. H.
Good bar with a great beer garden area. Pub has a reasonable selection of beers and reasonable pub grub. The place is jumping in the good weather and therefore expect it to be busy.
P. G. Á.
Irish pub with the option to seat outside and still be warm thanks to warm lights they have on.
There is live music and is crowded of people who goes for a drink and have fun with friends. It is a big place .
L. H.
A great bar that will be packed on weekends. Housed in one of the oldest buildings in Belfast, this place has character coming out its ears. Some great live music on offer usually.
t.
This is the best bar in Belfast.I was in here everyday and steadily built up my respect and love for Irish Whiskey. My grandad used to have a slurp of Irish Whiskey everyday. He swore by it.It's a shame he died of alcohol poisoning at the age of 41.He would have been proud of me.
The bar staff know all about every Whiskey in the place.Mind you,so do I now!
A colleague and i managed to get drunk within two hours. And mean proper drunk.Memory loss, cuts and bruises, lost attire, the full works.
It was a great night.
The staff are terrific.friendly, welcoming and you can have a good conversation with them.
I was asked what kind of whiskey I liked.I replied'Anything over 50% proof'
I walked in the place and the barman said'Boilermaker?'
I said 'No,I'm a painter'
I asked for my Whiskey to be served in a tumbler. The barman asked why?
I said'Because after a few more of them,I'll be tumbling down the stairs!'
A fantastic bar.Utterly amazing.
J. P.
Enjoyed a very tasty meal with a lovely glass or two of chardonnay. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend this place xx
C. D.
The beer garden downstairs was awesome in good weather and the upstairs rotisserie has good food. Worth a quick stop, but doesn't have the old pub charm of numerous other places in the area.
A. D.
Nice quirky place staff very nice had the quarter chicken lunch deal chicken was moist and tasty fries they were nicely seasoned ,my partner on the other hand had the burrito lunch deal but she said it was bland tasting and lacked seasoning but overall I liked the place.
a. m.
Busy but great atmosphere
N. S.
Great staff and Guinness
s.
Great place to visit, food is nice with good size portions. Great selection of beers and the Guinness isn't bad.
C. R.
Lessons were learnt!
2017 Santa paws was a chore however, 2018 Santa paws amazing what a difference. Well organised and delightful staff who made everyone welcome. Santa was jolly and showed great patience with our 4 legged buddies. Unfortunately on this visit I had nothing to eat or drink however on previous visits the food was first class. A revisit is a must. First class
s.
Nice atmosphere but rude staff that appear disinterested. Also could have a larger choice of beer.
G. M.
Now that they have GF beer I really like it ! Apart from that it's got plenty of space outside and a fine array of Scotch. Chicken restaurant upstairs is cheap and cheerful, very tasty.
L. C.
Great bar where you can actually hear each other talk, bliss. Lovely open fire, great selection of drinks, fabulous open air area for when the weather is nice.
l. o.
Lovely day, lively people...but we'll book next time for food!
J. M.
Great place with tasty very good value simply presented food, excellent service and a fantastic atmosphere. So good to go mid winter with all the cosy lights and a comforting log fire!
D. B.
Rustic looking, down to earth bar with a world class grill (Yardbird) upstairs.
I visited for the first time recently with my fiancée and had some lunch upstairs at the Yardbird chicken shack/grill. Really open looking, bright space with a rustic feel. The food is phenomenal. We shared a basket of wings, a rack of ribs and some chips. The dry rub on the wings was just.. wow. There are no words. Delicious! And the ribs were so tender (I'm not usually a ribs guy but this place converted me). Everything, all the way down to the seasoning on the chips and the sauces on the table, was top class. The rotisserie full of chickens and the chefs carving the meat in plain view in the open kitchen was a really good touch and added to the homey feel of the place.
The prices were really reasonable and our server even tipped us to a deal for the food we were ordering that ultimately gave us more for less (which seemed nice - he could have taken our order as was).
We tried a couple of the beers on tap here (Clonmel and Heverlee), which we hadn't tried elsewhere, and loved them.
If you're visiting Belfast, you should absolutely check this place out!
A. B.
Excellent ambiance and music !
S. P.
If you want chicken, this place is hard to beat. It's good value and it tastes great. Not a huge amount of variety on the menu though. The building is fantastic and there's a great atmosphere.
P. H.
Nice enough place, went there after it changed name to The Thirsty Goat. Prices are quite high but then again it is the cathedral quarter. Smoking area is nice and gives decent shelter during the rain.
T. K.
Great pub/club vibe on a weekend. My friends and I had a blast here listening to music and having some drinks. I think there's a restaurant section in doors (at least when its full).
J. D.
Lovely atmosphere, drinks competitively priced. Plenty of seats inside but outside you couldn't swing a cat! All in all great for a few drinks then move on to sample some more of Belfast's great bars in Titanic quarter 😍
B. H.
Never heard of the joint until I got assigned to do a delivery to here. See when it stated to deliver to The Dirty Onion I immediately headed for Union Street area, because they all dirty onions round there.. Anyway took a while to find it. …
E. I.
Great bar with live music
M. L.
Great staff who work hard, friendly & helpful, very strict with covid guidelines which is a good thing felt safe & enjoyed a good nite!
E. J.
We met friends here for a few quiet drinks and ended up having an amazing not so quiet night. The drinks are similar to other bars in the area and they offer a good selection. The live music was brilliant and the open building itself was really beautiful, even in the rain!
E. R.
Nice atmosphere and surroundings. Friendly bar staff happy to explain and discuss their products. I'm not a whiskey person but they had loads all with a description and clear price!
D. G.
It’s a fantastic social environment that serves good quality food. It’s a lovely pub perfect for all occasions and weather unless very cold. Lots of whisky options and a nice open fire with live music.
J. P.
Enjoyed a very tasty meal with a lovely glass or two of chardonnay. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend this place xx
S. Q.
Ribs and Chicken. A great combination and portions to match your appetite. Down stairs something happening every night. In the warmer months great place to sit outside and enjoy the ambience. …
D. S.
Nice to be able to sit outside, but service a little on the slow side, due to not enough staff to cope with the volume of customers.
D. M.
Great food and friendly service
R. R. (.
loved it. five quid for half a chicken and salad or chips. (cooked in front of you - not literally) very friendly staff. great place to visit for a quick drink and good food if your stuck what to do over lunch.
V. A.
Simply one of the best spots in Belfast, especially great when live music is on, and best of all, all puppers are allowed, saying "I can't come out it's my dog's birthday" is no longer a valid excuse
A. X.
Food was only ok. Very dirty the pub speaking of dirty onion 😅 food all over the floor and tables not clean 🤮
K. W.
Fab spot , live music, food, good drinks...what more ya want🍻
P. D.
A decent spot but not the place to go if you're looking for a quiet drink. Lots of hen & stag parties. Haven't tried the food but looked pretty good.
C. M. C.
Great place for a night out
C. M.
Very cool patio/bar in Belfast! We had a Guinness on the terrasse and enjoyed the fresh air. Worth a visit.
C. C.
Fun place to grab a bear and good eats. Dinner was a long wait to great to hang out waiting at the bar. Sit the the musician, was very good.
J. M.
Great atmosphere and staff and covid compliant
K. V.
Chicken was good, but the sides were a bit disappointing (fries, avocado salad). The restaurant was very busy and the music was a bit too loud. Staff was attentive though and food arrived quickly.
J. S.
Yardbird upstairs is a definite must, even for veggies!! Chicken is amazing and veggie option wrap is great. Portions are generous, cool atmosphere, nice beers, lovely staff!!
M. L.
Great beer garden with live music and dogs welcome. I find the bar inside a bit dark and grim but that is down to personal preference regarding the decor.
P. L.
A great spot for a lively evening or weekend outing. Great music available and a first class range of drinks and food. Worth a visit.
M. N.
Lovely bar with a smashing fire. It was a Monday night when I visited and it had a good few punters. Only draw back It was hard to find and looked like we were walking into a work site
A. M.
Fab pub our great Dane really enjoy her dinner. Food was also excellent for adult n kids. Ribs n wings were amazing. Service excellent.
A. L.
Very nice bar. The white beer hit the spot. Wish I had more time to sample the menu. Lovely atmosphere.
A. C.
Traditional Irish pub with a real fire. The interior smells like a proper Irish pub with a log burning fire. Cosy atmosphere and great live music every day of the week
E. M.
Fantastic night out, very covid safety. Our waiter Tony was excellent!! Really made the night
P. S.
First visit today for a quick lunch. Absolutely sumptuous chicken & fries and burrito served by helpful staff. What's not to like. I'll be back again soon.
G. E.
Really good value for money, try the burrito! Friendly staff and quick service. Recommended by a cab driver and not disappointed! Apparently oldest building in Belfast too!
A. L.
Awesome live traditional music but could still talk. The best burrito ive ever had, the great chips, and love anywhere that sells san pellergrino!
A. P.
Lively at the weekends, usually quiet during the week. Heated beer garden outside in the winter months, open wood fire inside. Young 30s crowd, mostly professionals.

Amazing place in Belfast to hangout. Weekend with live music will take your time to heaven. Feel the happiness in you..

Great experience, exceptional staff and service. Food was really good, had the burrito which ends at 5pm I think. Recommend the wings, sweet potato fries, and burrito.

Fantastic selection of Irish Whiskey all reasonably priced, indoor and outdoor seating. Excellent food upstairs. Love this place.

cheap but excellent taste!

Nice beers and a small selection of chicken or bbq ribs. I had the ribs and wing combo, very fully and the homemade bbq sauce is lovely

Nice to be able to sit outside, but service a little on the slow side, due to not enough staff to cope with the volume of customers.

Good outdoor area, live music and a lively crowd.

We had chicken and ribs and a carafe of wine. First time to visit excellent value for money and the rose wine gorgeous, the chickens are small but so tasty.

Blink and you might miss it, but this is great place to stop for a bite. Good menu and great service. Game of Thrones destination site just a walk down the hill.

Comfortable, rustic setting. Very reasonable price, nice food. Chicken and ribs are the offerings, barbecue style joint. Enjoyed my visit.

Local bar, rich with history and brings in a lot of people. Good place to experience one of Belfast oldest pubs, as well as a good place to meet new people

Lovely atmosphere. Had to queue to get in, but not for long

Food top class , friendly staff and close to city centre

One of the best bars in Belfast. Great drinks and the food in the Yardbird is top notch. Location and decoration are excellent
M. G.
Nice bar, lovely setting. Unfortunately no live music when we were there. Friendly staff too

Chicken, ribs are nice. You look at the Décor and you think it's a kip bits it's actually quite clean.
Very reasonably priced food at lunchtime

Midrange nothing is very special in this bar food is nice and drinks are good however very expensive and staff aren’t very attentive, also always seems to be very busy and it can be hard to find a seat

Food was excellent and the service was excellent as well

One of my favorite bars in Belfast. A cool atmosphere with live music and beer garden

Great spot. Staff beer and food top notch.

Fantastic place to drink, eat and just be! Food is relatively quite good, but cannot complain for the ridiculous low price. Can definitely recommend!

Nice meal, quite expensive drinks, lovely terrace.

Great atmosphere and loads of fun on a Saturday night - very busy! Great if you’re out on a bit of a highly spirited evening!

Upstairs, small card but perfect taste ! Friendly atmosphere and staff, very good food with large portions. Downstairs, good choice of drinks. Highly recommended.

Great service, Lucy in particular was amazing. Would definitely go back 😄

Brill place for a delicious bite to eat. Staff friendly, price reasonable. Would recommend., though would ask maybe provide toothpicks cause you definitely need them.

Excellent pints and live music. Staff were brilliant and very fair. We came as a large group and staff managed to get us accommodated.

Great pint and a busy pub for a Tuesday evening.

Great atmosphere and live music.

Really good selection of beers (including a lot from local microbreweries - try the Belfast Ale from Whitewater Brewing Co.) and whiskeys. However, the staff is inpatient and it takes about 5 minutes to get a drink.

The Dirty Onion is a great place for a drink. Not much in the way of lightning though. The Yardbird is not too bad for food. Mostly chicken though.

Attractive bar, decent selection of beer. We were there for a leaving party so the atmosphere was lively, it may have been a bit quiet otherwise
P. B.
Atmosphere was incredible - especially the (peat?) fire crackling in the corner. Great range of ales and beers too which is always good.
A. R.
Fancy restaurant for young people and families as well. Good prices. Shares chicken wings and ribs were fantastic ( they come with sides!! )
J. G.
Lunch burrito from Yardbirds was delicious and reasonably priced for the size of it. Unfortunately no food at the Onion, you'll have to go upstairs for that.

Nice socially distanced Christmas night out!

Nice beers and ciders on draught, great atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon, however I find a slightly antisocial atmosphere here, people tend to stick within their cliques when the pub gets busy.
E. M.
The Dirty Onion is a cosy pub for its size. Especially if you're lucky enough to get a seat on one of the sofa's by the open fire. The selection of beers available isn't the most extensive however they do have some quality options from Beaverton, Galway Bay etc.
R. K.
Live Irish music and good old Irish structure to enjoy your drinks during the day but the moment sun goes down you won't find a single inch to spare, great party place.

I had the ribs. They were delicious and tender. The meat was almost falling off of the bone. I loved the rustic atmosphere
