R. G.Always get a good point in here. The selection of craft beer and gins is right up there with the best in town and the bar is set up so you can always get a nice spot to sit. There's a great wee alcove through the archway which is my favourite place to sit as it's tucked away nicely. Definitely head here if you are heading into Belfast for a night out.
P. M.John Hewitt pub is full of character and local history. Good pints, good staff with an outside area at back when sun shines. An old school pub worth a visit 👍
P. Ó. C.Depends what night of the week. You could sit down with a quiet pint and read the paper or browse the net. Or you could find yourself surrounded by 40 or 50 other people listening to local traditional musicians. Either way. You won't be disappointed. The food here during the day and on weekends is absolutely delicious. There are local artists who display their art pieces on the walls, and are offered for sale, these are changed every month. Their is a large range of beers and ciders to choose from. And good staff.

Music outside isn't so loud that you're battling to get a conversation heard and table service is reliably quick. Post lockdown it's just like the Garrick with a distinct lack of local accents, catering for the tourists. You could do worse.

J. H.It has my name so impossible not to visit. Nice old traditional pub with a fire to keep us warm plus no music. We had an excellent fish chowder soup here for lunch, and the other lunch offers looked very good!
D. T.A great wee bar, great bustling atmosphere. Usually accompanied by trad music. We took some tourists here a few weeks ago and they loved it. The memorabilia on the walls was quite interesting and almost forgetting the great service and the lethal pint of Guinness.

R. H.It feels like one of the most traditional bars in the area and a regular of mine. It has a great craft beer selection on tap, proper honset tasty food during the day and Music certain nights both Irish traditional music and good bands. Also like the concept of artests displaying their work which changes every month or so.
E.Great city bar that is classic and elegant in all it does. The drinks and food are always presented with a sense of care for both you and what you have ordered. A good pub to introduce visitors to Belfast.

D. W.I've visited The John Hewitt Bar a few times now on my various visits to Belfast. A great bar, really good staff, friendly locals, excellent choice of drinks, super atmosphere. In a fine city full of fine bars, The John Hewitt is a place that will not disappoint. Until next time...
S.Visited one day for lunch, loved the atmosphere at lunch time, local workers popping in for their break. Had a delicious chowder with soda bread, rich flavour at poor mans prices. Couldn't ask for more.

G. M.Called in and joined the Christmas revellers the Sunday before Christmas. (Usually shut on Sundays but opens 3 to 10 in December).
Fire blazing ,folk musicians playing and even had about 8 males singing baritone Christmas tunes (just normal customers).
Excellent spot,clean and fantastic staff.
b.In for Xmas dinner. Great food, staff and good beer selection.

R. C.My one night at the Hewitt is something I won't forget. Fantastic group of 20-somethings performing trad Irish around a table for a few hours, great chats with two locals, and offers to crash in flats. Belfast might look hard, but the Hewitt proved to me that it's as friendly a city as you could hope for.
p.Stopped there only for a pint of Guinness but seen some plates with food and they looked great. Recommend!

My main irk with it is the diddly diddly music that seems to just start every time I walk in.. background music is fine, but having to bellow at my mates who I want to chat with is irritating, they also take up quite a lot of space in a bar that has limited seating already
