Best place I've been on a night out. Visited from Manchester for an evening and stumbled across this gem. Will defo visit again

What a cracking pub! Had my 50th here end of January. Kate, the Manager is lovely and very helpful. Buffet food was very reasonably priced and there was a lot of it! Kate even reserved an area of the pub for about 30 people. I really can't fault this place and the Live music (it was a Friday) was fantastic. Good sound, not too loud, so you can still have a natter with your mates! Thank you Kate. Everybody enjoyed themselves and this was the perfect venue!

Always a busy bar, with regular events on from live music to quizzes etc. Wide selection of drinks with an outside terrace area on the road. It's main selling point is it's location meaning it's safe and friendly to couples and mixed groups of people. It's boozy and busy with a late 20's to 40's, city clientele. Not wine and dining but late night music bar feel. Good for all those who want to stay out late but not fuss with clubs.

I am updating my rating after I had been there three times. This pub has been updated. Last time we went was on a Tuesday. The atmoshere was great. There was no live band on, however we loved the music which was an eclectic mix of all genres across the decades. Great vibes. The bar staff are very attentive and they made us feel comfortable. I highly recommend this pub.

Quiz nights are here every Monday night from 8:30 pm until about 11 pm. It is 2 quid per person, and the winning team gets 50 pounds! This place gets packed so I try to get there by 8 to have a table for my team. The staff here are very friendly and fast! Even with a full pub, I've never waited more than a minute or two to order a drink. The location is clean and dimly lit - but in a good way. The atmosphere is always nice and welcoming even when in competition! The bathrooms are also clean. There's a reason we're there almost every Monday 👍🏼

Good atmosphere on the weekends with live bands playing, friendly staff and friendly people. The place is a little small so can get rammed at times as there's only a small outside area in the front but this is very minor. Good to go for a drink there in the week also as it's quieter.

Been here a few times over the years, and always enjoyed it. Great vibe about the place, lively yet also relaxed, friendly and good service...also, the upstairs serves as a performance area for bands, with a top sound in an intimate venue. Most recently I saw, along with a group of friends, the Liverpool band The Vryll Society play there, and it was an awesome night, packed out and rocking...

What a fun place. It had a wipe down seat as you walk in, and a really crowded dance area. In terms of the wipe down chair, it was constantly being wiped down by staff, load knows what was going on there, with couples cuddling and smooching on the sear. Smoking area good and extensive, I met a couple of people who voted Brexit, so that was fun. A party, cheesy late night atmosphere, at that nice level between club and pub. My sort of place.

The A&B is cracking, one of those places you go to when you have had a few drinks and fancy a great night. Gets busy from about 11pm and closes around 3.30-4am, there are a number of genres played but I would label it an indie/alternative bar. Great selection of drinks and priced cheaply for a centre of town club. People are friendly and everyone just wants to have time. Taxis are right outside for when you want to leave and uber finds you easily from here. If you want a proper laugh and slightly sticky floors night out A&B is the way forward.

The upstairs music venue has been improved. A glass/perspex panel separates the mezzanine from the rest of the pub. The result is an airy relaxed music venue just off trendy St. Paul's square.

It's a nice place, there's usually always someone playing some live music on stage and as a musician this is very much appreciated. The drinks aren't to exspensive price wise which is a good aspect about the Actress & Bishop. They also have a nice sized space outside and upstairs which has a bar so you don't have to go downstairs to order your drinks.

This is a very lovely place, I was here for a 30th birthday. The only problem is that I was soooooo drunk I partied most of the night away, danced like there was no tomorrow, and made new friends.... We went to see James Walsh in the upstairs room. What a great intimate venue, sound was good, beer was good atmosphere was wonderful! Plenty of parking nearby, but only a short walk from Snow Hill Station!

Great bar & good atmosphere, however the doormen think they own the public space outside the bar. Despite politely leaving I was pushed several times by one of the door team to move 2 meters away from the bar. Unnecessary aggression from an otherwise great night. I wish this problem of over zealous doorstaff could be sorted otherwise I would not recommend this place to visit.

Quite expensive drinks wise but that's to be expected in the Jewellery quarter. Music is a good mix of pop, indie, chart, Motown etc so everyone has a good sing and a dance. Good outdoor seating/smoking area. Plenty of bar staff on at peak times so bar wait time is minimal.

Always a good craic on the weekends, with a selection of great DJ's that have a wide range of quality music... I really enjoyed the silent disco they have on bank holiday Sunday's from time to time. With two channels of music, so you don't need headphones to enjoy it either. As the people are enough entertainment singing along to their favourite songs. ✌️🤘

First visit. Within walking distance from New Street station. I thought it was going to be bigger (but that's not a bad thing). We went to see Laurence Jones & his Band. The upstairs room where the bands play is "intimate". If you like to get close to the act, The Actress & Bishop is the place for you.

Always a fun night out or a catchup with friends over a nice brew. Free entry whenever I've been there, lots of nearby parking near and around St Paul's Square. The DJs usually play a good set of old school mowtown/funk classics, indie and a bit of pop thrown in for good measure. One of the few places in Birmingham that is chilled out, not pretentious, not overpriced and no trouble (no chavs). Definitely highly recommended!

Visited here several times on. Friday lunch time. The drinks are cheap for Birmingham and they have some interesting choices available that you don't find everywhere else. As a cider drinker I was very happy to find that they have Aspall's Harry Sparrow on draught, which I've not seen anywhere else in Birmingham.

Always remember working in Birmingham this was tHe best bar. Was a young pup working at snow Hill had just split up with the missus depressed as hell.. came to this bar always remember the barman Scott no Idia if he still works there. Gave me advice only a barman could(a proper barman) skinny love was his song of choice for me.. and he said she will only be making someone else miserable how right he was some years later as I’m sitting here married with three beautiful kids and gorgeous wife. Great place to drink on a weekend, just make sure you dont forget your ID (you will be ID'd and not let in). Ànd also keep your coats and bags in your eyeline, thieves are active in the jewellery quarter. (We had someone not let in for lack of ID, and another party members coat and phone stollen) However this is a great place to visit if you are out on the weekend and are careful.
