Great little bar for live music, great atmosphere and great beer.
Brilliant Sunday Evening free entertainment! Music superb
M. F.
An amazing down to earth boozer, on site brewed ales, friendly owner and barman... Highly recommend 🍻👏👍
O. L.
Great local with cats, art and draught ale from it's own brewery.
E. “. H. F.
Brilliant pub and very friendly staff/management. I am happy to drive from Scotland as often as possible, just for a couple of nights in this great, traditional Brummie pub and brewery! 12 out of 10 stars for this place!
G. D.
Great lil pub tucked away
Sunday bands perform 6.00pm onwards
Other entertainment available on specific days (website available)
G. M.
Although I am regular at the pub down the road, Birmingham needs independents serving great ale.
T. P.
I've been coming to the Gunmakers Arms for years- since the revamp by Two Towers, it's a fantastic and intimate gig and event venue. And, of course, the beer is brill! Sanjay and Mark are always great to chat to, and you'll often meet friendly regulars. A hidden treasure in Birmingham's pub scene.
P. H.
Wow, what a find this was, great beer brewed next door and a very friendly welcome. Elvis playing on the duke box, can’t ask for more! A very satisfied customer 😀👍
Y. D.
Friendly staff and their beer is good i hear
M. C.
Had a great time at this pub for my football teams social, great local pints at very reasonable prices and was brilliantly taken care of by Sanjay and co who provided delicious bbq food and all went out their way to ensure we had a good time. Couldn’t recommend the place enough
S. S.
Always a pleasant place for a pint. Two towers rarely disappoint.
D. M.
Great pub, hidden gem!
P. G.
Great ale and company-top pub.
K. P. O.
Love it, great place good brewery tap House.
N. D.
Great night and the live music was fantastic Well done to 3/6d
R. G.
Charming but not thd old world pub you'd expect. Plenty of surprises here though from wall art to great beer
J. F.
Lovely quaint little pub. Old fashioned but snug. A hidden gem.
Went on a hot afternoon lunchtime, so the bar was fairly empty. Bar staff very friendly and welcoming.
Reasonably priced drinks.
Nice little beer garden.
Overall, a nice place for a lunchtime drink.
G. C.
This is a bit of a hidden gem, not far from the city centre but not packed like most of the pubs. What you have here is a traditional pub with comfortable seating, a cosy environment and pub cats(!).
They serve their own beer from the Two Towers Brewery (4 on tap when we went) plus guest ales so there is plenty to choose from.
We really enjoyed sampling the ales and having a nice time in a relaxed atmosphere.
B. H.
Proper old fashioned pub.
Great pint of ale at a very reasonable price. Staff were very friendly and I even made friends with the resident cat
C. D. M.
Bed and breakfast in a historical part of Birmingham, The Host Mr Arnott is a great guy, very friendly and very helpful, staying over and developing my immune products, definitely returning, Fantastic little brewery connected to the the pub Two Towers Brewery.
Welldone
G. H.
Could be a better heritage pub. Bit rough inside.
K. M.
A good place to see a great selection of art and photography on display. Also the splendid Two Towers ales brewed on site.
D. L.
Good selection of beer and a few cobs
R. M. E.
These people know how to run a pub and a brewery. The atmosphere is amazing. You would never know your on the edge of the city. I've witnessed young and old male an female black and white all one table enjoying exactly what a pub should be 👌
I.
Great choice of real ales. Good service at the bar. I was there on a Friday night. Fairly quiet. Just a few blokes enjoying a pint. If you like your beer, there's plenty to choose from. Worth a visit just for that.
G. Y.
One of those pubs that's been on my 'must visit' list for years. As I'd parked on the edge of town, made sure my route back involved a stop here. Place looked glorious in the Autumn sunshine. Bit minimalist inside, but clean and tidy. All the Two Towers beers on offer looked inviting, but as I was driving, chose one of the lower alcohol ales. What I didn't realise until I had a look out the back, is that the brewery is next door. Excellent pint at a sensible price.
S. R.
Really like the gunmakers arms. Hosts great gigs on a Sunday. Incredibly friendly owners. Worth going out of your way to find.
D. “. V. A.
This was a great surprise. We were staying nearby and looked in and thought it looked good. Delighted to see lots of different cask conditioned beers then realised it is a micro brewery. We will definitely be sampling the great beers again
R. L.
Lovely old pub, fairly basic but good bar staff and the added bonus of seeing a live band. The staff are very helpful I sent them a message to check who was playing and received a message promptly back. Great pub for supporting live music. Would recommend.
L. e. L.
Recently reopen, still being furnished, thanks to two towers brewery. Choice of great ales brewed just 5 minutes away. Plenty of events and historic talks. Definitely worth a visit by locals and tourists alike to try very unique beers served here. Pints way under £3 BTW :)
S. S.
Had a great day all the staff very friendly. Mark the master brewer gave a great talk and I think everyone went away with a lot more knowledge of brewing and also birmingham history. The beer is fantastic and very well priced. I had fellowship ale 4.1% and it was £2.90 a pint.
S. B.
Great staff, nice beer, can't comment on the food as it wasn't ordered. Could do with maybe a bit of a tidy up, however I will be going back for more.... Give it a go, if you like down to earth company, and good beer...
D. C.
The pub was quiet on the Bank Holiday Sunday though a nice reasonabley priced pint enjoyed in the courtyard.
R. T.
Fantastic old Birmingham boozer. Don't expect the Ritz, but do expect good service from friendly staff and a wide variety of beers behind the bar.
The pub is an old building with a nice outdoor beer garden attached. What makes this place stand apart is its association with the Two Towers Brewery, which is on site. Two Towers produce some amazing Birmingham themed beer that is a treat to try - and it is sold behind the bar in the Gunmakers Arms! Perfect!
I love spending time here. It's a short walk from the City Centre, and is a throwback to the more traditional pubs of Birmingham age gone by. Recommended.
R. J.
This remarkable establishment has made an excellent finding in the locale providing the finest own brewed ales and other beverages...! Recently refurbished but keeping the existing rustic vibe, a venue for open mic music and local bands playing their sounds! It also encourages artists and photographers to freely display their creativity and customers can purchase these very economically...
A fantastic quiet out of the way place to sup a pint of Two Towers ales...😉🍻
R. K.
I've been here twice and I have felt warm and welcome on both occasions. They have a brewery on the back and sell the beer they have made, and so far I have tasted a few of them and they have been tasty.
The service at the Gunmakers Arms is one of, if not the best I have experienced in a pub during 4 months time I have been living in Britain. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes a cozy environment with quality service and craft beer.
i. s.
Great pub great beer welcoming and accomplishes the challenge of making tasty vegan beer. Home of two towers brewery and peake blinder mild. Worth the trip. Open Mike nights so lots of opportunities to play in a public venue and enjoy fine ales perfect
F. C.
Found this pub a short walk away from holiday inn express where we were staying. Really good real ales and delicious cobs. Live music on. Friendly staff and customers. Worth seeking out.
P. G.
Good pub if you like the Two Tower Brewery range, but found the service a little lacking (despite being pretty much the only people in the pub!). Didn't try the food, but understand they have rotating chefs/popup kitchen style.
V. C.
Great ale brewed on site, excellent service and lots of local events which gives opportunity to local artists, photographers and historians. Really cool venue overall which has been recently refurbished.
Highly recommend!
S. K.
Great little old pub hidden away near St Chad's Church. Pool table and selection of craft ales. The Two Towers brewery is located at the back. Beer garden as well
Will be going again.
T. B. C.
Excellent venue! Fantastic music, great atmosphere... Friendly staff... Who brew there own beers.. All good here!
P. D.
The Gunmakers is under new ownership, and it's so much better. It now has incredibly priced local ales that are excellent, brewed by the Two Towers brewery, based in the Jewellery Quarter I believe.
It also has a fussball table, dart board, really good food and live music and street food stalls on Fridays.
Definitely worth a visit!
L. B.
Best pub in Birmingham. Fantastic beer, great food and lovely atmosphere. We'll worth 2 hours and 3 pints of your life. Truly one of the best pubs.
M. K.
This is the brewery tap for Two Towers Brewery, decor has been improved since my last visit and I expect to add another start on my next visit.
Interesting to see artwork for sale in the wall.
C. B.
This is a Fab little pub in progress. Great location near the jewelery quarter with some nice places to eat in easy reach. For the price it is comfortable enough for a night or two. Very friendly and helpful staff.
B. 6.
Amazing and very home styled pub. It's also attached to the Two Towers brewery which both were the Inspirations for the book, Lord of the Rings: Two Towers.
Gunmakers Arms used to be apart of the gun manufacturing district that was used to fight us back while we, America, were breaking away from Britain.
When you look at LOTR: Two Towers. Theres a scene inside the two Towers that looks eerily similar to a brewery where orks(the foor soldiers) were being made.
Only solidifying the idea that it inspired the book.
W. R.
Fantastic venue - true undiscovered gem of Birmingham. Aston Hockey adore the place
G. J.
We thought this was brilliant. Saturday lunchtime the place is quite quiet, but nevertheless it is a great place to go. Food is limited to some rolls, but even they were nice.
S. B.
Good beer, good service, something like pubs used to be 30 years ago before they went all gastronomic... locals using the place reminded me why care in the community isn't working though....
A. K.
Warm and cosy with hospitality that reminded me of home. The charming couple who own this place were extremely nice and served us even though we hadn't pre booked. They truly made our Christmas experience one to remember. Thank you for your kindness.
S. B.
Very friendly place in the old gun quarter of Birmingham. They will quite gladly offer you a free sample of anything you fancy on tap. Some independent ales and ciders on tap and friendly barman.Would recommend you drop in if you are passing.
J. G.
Great for a cosy stop over for a few nights in Birmingham. Bright open communual kitchen to help yourself to a wee breakfast. Good value and feels safe. Landlord Tony friendly too.
j. “. W.
A proper old school pub with heaps of character, friendly staff and a micro brewery in the rear garden. What's not to love when you can drink local ales right where they are brewed.
J. R.
Lovely few pints of home brewed beer plus nice live music. Everyone very friendly. It's a shame it's so hidden away, it'd be heaving!
P. M.
Traditional brewery taphouse rescued a few years ago. Good range of ales at among the cheapest prices in Birmingham including Weatherspoons. Not going to tell you what they are in case crowds form but a pint of Hockley Gold plus a well filled bap and change from a fiver. Events during the week, look up the website. Courtyard outside and brewery visits. Friendly staff. Well worth a visit. Try an interesting walk from city centre along the Fazely canal which will take you to within less than 200 yards of the pub.
C. M.
Called in before Peterborough United game v Aston Villa. Very quiet with only one local there and seven Posh fans. Enjoyed a pint of Baskerville Bitter from Two Towers brewery.
L. C.
Nice and cosy little pub ^_^ My dad and his friends enjoying coming here. Seems like a lovely atmosphere and the staff are friendly.
S. T.
A new look to this pub/brewery has made this place better with a good landlord who serves birmingham beers (with local stories behind each beer). A pub to go to just outside the centre near to the childrens hospital.
k. g.
Great beer choice and live music venue, friendly bar staff. Can recommend!
K. R.
Only visited Gunmakers in a week day afternoon. Beers, decorations and the history are more than interesting but would like to visit when there are more customers - guess that would have to be an evening.
M. C.
Pub closed due to lockdown but accommodation is perfect gor the price and a three day business trip to Birmingham.
D. A.
Lovely old-school pub. Original fittings and lots of small rooms off the bar. Limited food choices but decent, friendly service and a wide range of drinks.
S. H. (.
The twin towers chaps have breathed new life into this place. The beer is good, especially the peaky blinders mild. Jukebox good.
D. “. W.
