I went here years ago and it seemed tired. After moving closeby in 2021 we decided to try it again and happily on all 3 occasions we have visited the food and the service has been excellent.

I was so excited to eat this I nearly forgot to take the picture! Lovely food and pleasant atmosphere I've been here many times always lovely 😊

On getting to pub we were early, I thought the man was a bit rude but my husband didn’t. He said, ‘your table not ready and we ain’t got nowhere in the bar for you too’ but then walked to the bar area and showed us to a table straight away, very wired. Then we stood at bar to get a drink, the bar person didn’t say anything to us but carried on with what they were doing for a good few minutes, even though she walked past us twice! She was very nice when she did serve us!! When we got to our table, we had great service, meal was nice. Drinks arrived when ordered. But on one occasion I ordered a drink with a shot of elderflower but wasn’t brought this, on asking the waitress she they had ran out but when she brought drinks over she never told me this. Then charged full price for the drink with missing item. Good and bad service throughout our visit. It was my birthday meal out with my husband. I’m not sure we will go here again for a while but it depends as hopefully may learn from review.

We dine at The Hopwood quite often and we have never had a bad meal, the food is excellent and the portions are generous. There is also an extensive choice of food on the menu, we are always spoiled for choice. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and it’s comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.The tables are well spaced which is good due to the pandemic. Our only slight criticism is the steep steps to enter the restaurant from the car park but there is an entrance on the other side of the building without steps.

Great meals for my wife and I, my primary age sons had a great time on the playground. Good friendly service, though they were busy for a Thursday and it took a little while it wasn't excessive. 3 adult meals, 1 kids meal and soft drinks all round came to about £60.

It was our first time visiting the Hopwood since the new menu was introduced. It was great !!!! Fresh new staff faces on the floor, which I believe was needed a long time ago. Had a table for 8 midweek. Plenty of space, service was fantastic, everyone enjoyed the food. Reasonably priced, though I did miss the vegetable burrito which is no longer on the menu . Fully recommend this place for a group, it's ideal, but be mindful it does close at 9:30 during the week.

Lovely experience from start to finish. All staff were very pleasant and attentive. The food was absolutely gorgeous too. My only criticism would be that we were left waiting to pay our bill for quite some time. I can appreciate at the time we wanted to get our bill the restaurant got really busy and the guys were rushed off their feet. It wasn’t any bother though, we had a drink and we’re happy to wait. Thank you all for a lovely experience.

Visited Hopwood House pub for dinner whilst on a narrow boat holiday. Food, environment, staff and service were all excellent. We enjoyed an excellent meal and have no hesitation in recommending it as a place to enjoy good food at reasonable prices. Will certainly visit again whenever we are in the area.

First visit to Hopwood House. The room was bright and welcoming as was the greeter. All the staff we dealt with were enthusiastic, helpful and confident, especially our order taker. My wife's lasagna was fine as were her sides. My own meal was mediocre with cool, limp chunky chips which seemed like they had been left hanging around for far too long. Not a hint of crispness. The Bourbon Chicken was ok but the breast meat did not cut cleanly with the knife and had to be pulled apart. I guess 'stringy' describes the texture. Nevertheless there was nice flavour to it. The sticky toffee pudding with ice cream was faultless.

We were welcomed when we arrived and shown to our table. Karl explained food choices not available that day and left us to decide our meals. Order of food and drinks were taken. My husband's meal arrived without an egg. I mentioned this to Karl and it was immediately apologised for and brought out to him. Both our meals were delicious. I asked for the bill which was promptly brought. I then remembered I had a voucher so a new bill had to be done. Karl's service at our table was kind, friendly and efficient

Lovely atmosphere and efficient friendly staff. The food was very nice, onion rings too greasy but everything else was well cooked and tasty. We liked the range on the menu but unfortunately on our last two visits we have been greeted with a list of options unavailable. This time there were a few mains and half of the desserts not available we did spoil the overall evening. We were made aware and staff apologised for this but is a shame that this is the one aspect, and an important one, that spoilt our visit.

Went for dinner at the weekend and have to say the food was spot on! (family of 5) kids meals were a standard pub grub, but very nice, Mrs had chicken tikka curry which was cooked to perfection, and I had the Applewood smoked chicken with cheese and spring onion mash.......it was amazing! Very popular according to the very friendly staff, and I can see why! Can't fault the food and service here 10/10 👍

Lovely pub, right next to the canal. We opted for the two steaks and a bottle of wine for £30 and were very impressed. The staff are lovely and vey helpful too . We will be returning.

We visited for a drink at 12pm and while we were there we booked to come back and eat at 3pm! So we actually visited twice in one day. Friendly and efficient service and the food was lovely ... we'll definitely be back.

The word 'hospitality' does not feature in the vocabulary of the manager of this establishment. He is rude, impatient and makes it very clear that this type of work is not his forte. In my opinion he should be kept away from front of house and take a leaf out of the books of his waitresses. They were happy, smiling and engaged with us. The food was good and so was the beer. A pity that such a miserable man had to spoil the afternoon.

Went here last Friday after attending the Premier 15s final at Worcester. Got theire almost one hour early... No problem. Our table was reserved and ready. Service was immediate with drinks delivered in 5 mins and food order taken. Fish and chips was great with a massive piece of fish in a very crispy batter. I had a chicken and chorizo kebab on a flat bread with salad and pomegranate seeds and delicious chips. We had puds, both were great with sticky toffee pudding and custard and an excellent light but boozy vodka soaked tiramisu with a bucket of pouring cream. Wonderful service, great food, use this place as its great with a wide choice menu and deserves to be visited by all

Chips were fabulous, only a 4 after the salad had very little in the way of taste, yes oil drizzle but it didn’t add to the salad at all. Good selection of beers, estrella for me. We hadn't booked but we were accommodated although they were busy, the service was prompt, drinks first then the food order, the food was served prompt hot and excellent, they checked we were happy with everything also offering further delights. The premises were good and the staff pleasant, overall a good experience.

This meal was a last minute decision as we had visitors staying for a family funeral. Booking system was so easy and we were greeted with a friendly smile when we arrived. This friendly atmosphere continued throughout the meal with all agents being very attentive and quick to deal with any requests. The food itself was absolutely delicious, all four of us agreed that it was one of the nicest meals we have had in a long time. Our visitors eat out at least three times a week and we’re very impressed with the steak and chicken. They have already booked to visit again on the understanding we can eat here again. Can’t wait for that and will be booking this week.

Went here Saturday without having booked a table but were given a nice table by the window. Both of us ordered the spit roast chicken. I had the jerk chicken, very disappointed with it, nothing jerk about it in my opinion, I had the fire fries as a side and again, very disappointed, nothing fire about them at all. All that said the food was nice and the one waitress we had was very pleasant. Would go back again but, choose something else from the menu.

This is exactly how a pub should be run. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel very welcome. Drinks order was taken, followed by food order. All meals were excellent, the fish was huge n came with plenty of chips n mushy peas(,baked beans for one of us). The gammon was cooked to perfection. Well done to everyone at the Hopwood It's definitely going to be a favourite of ours from now on.

We have been to Hopwood House now twice, each time we have had a pleasant service and the meals have been of a good standard. We are a little disappointed that we couldn't book a table for two for Christmas day, however the waiter have taken our details just in case there is a cancellation at the last minute. The only l find which could be improved on is a better entrance for the disabled. The maintenance steps l think is to step for the elderly and disabled. There is a ramp by the children play area then small steps to get into the restaurant, those are the only two entries l know ofteotentries

Visited Hopwood House last night and I was so pleased with how friendly the staff were, how beautiful the venue is and with how nice the food was! We were served by a lovely man named Nigel and he was very attentive to our table; sometimes in restaurants we find that as a table of 2, you can sometimes slip under the radar, but not at Hopwood House! My first choice of the Minted Lamb shank was out of stock and that's the only reason I haven't given 5 stars; it sounds picky but I kid you not, when I viewed the menu online, seeing that dish was the decider that we were going to visit that day and we wasn't told upon seating which items from the menu were unavailable. Having said that there are plenty of other options and I went for the 8oz steak and my partner the rotisserie chicken, which I must say just seem to melt in your mouth! I will definitely be returning to this venue!

Lovely country pub set alongside the canal. Very peaceful and the outside seating area is well designed. Kids play area is set away from eating area, so the adults can eat/drink in peace. I had the buttermilk chicken and it tasted amazing. The gravy was the best I have ever tasted. The food arrived in a reasonable time and the staff were nice and friendly. My only criticism is that the drinks are quite pricey. Nice drop though, so not all bad. I highly recommend coming here. Especially in the summer. I shall definitely be returning soon.

I’m bitterly disappointed after hearing good things about the food and service.

Also a decent choice of cask ales which for me is always a nice touch. Quiet during the week. Parking is extensive however if you have elderly relatives or disabled family members i highly recommend using the top car park as the bottom one has a huge set of stairs leading the the door (look on Google maps street view). Gets very busy from Friday afternoon to Saturday evening (recommend booking tables on these days) . Highly recommend this place.

I think we had a bad experience this time for a few reason: The service wasn't very good, staff with set areas to manage should be able to recall who arrived first, there were 2 of us, sat down ready to order, a group of 4 came in behind us by some 5 minutes yet strangely got served first. Chicken Carbonara Pasta no mention of mushrooms..it came caked in mushrooms, wouldn't have been an issue unless I hated mushrooms the way I do. A replacement meal ordered and my partner had practically finished when my meal showed up. We might as well sat at different meal times. The girl serving us didn't help by explaining any of it away, just shrugged her shoulders and went or her merry way. As above normally a nice place to eat so if the staff keep to set areas then I advise you go in and avoid turning left and down the stairs

Excellent experience. Came with the family for our wedding anniversary and we're not disappointed. Great food, great selection of craft beers and very tasty food. We moored up along the canal behind the pub. We will be back.

Party of 6 for festive meal, Prawn cocktail could have been presented better with more sauce. No chutney with the ham hock terrine, ran out of the raspberry marangue, the cheese and biscuits were awful who puts two big chunks of celery with cheese and biscuits. Won't go again.

Lovely friendly staff and it's a very kid friendly place. The menunis vast it has something for everyone. The only downside is that the portion sizes are on the small side, not what you'd expect in terms of value for price paid, but we left happy enough to conclude that we may well return one day.

Main course was great, good food, good value. HOWEVER...... They fell down on desert, I ordered a chocolate sundae, it SPECIFIED mini brownies, however they were just more like a light chocolate sponge. I was expecting a collection of gooey chocolate brownies at the bottom covered in a rich chocolate sauce. Instead I got some chocolate sponge at the top covered by whipped cream. Another flaw in the crafting of this delicacy was the lack of marshmallows and most importantly the size, it was a measly average sized sundae glass, in a tall glass you can fit many brownies and sauce at the bottom, however in this you got VANILLA ice cream and chocolate sauce. Everything else oboit the experience was great, except the desert. So I bless this review section with a 3 stars, maybe an improvement on desert could push you to a 4. Nice pub by the canal. The starter was ok and the dessert nice. The rotisserie chicken was drier than the Sahara though! Had to wash every mouthful down :(
