Reviews of New Inn
J. B.
I went to the new inn on Saturday. The weather was lovely and the pub was really really busy. I ordered two burgers for outside and the food was lovely! Chips were nice and hot washed down with a nice cold ale. Although the garden was packed the wait wasn’t long and the staff were all working really hard. A massive improvement from the last time I sat in the garden last year. I’ll be back!
S. H.
Nice comfortable pub, friendly staff and good prices. Didn't have food but my friend did and it looked nice. Safe and respectful clientele
P. M.
The New Inn Harborne, met with friends for a coffee and some food with our babies and I can’t explain how amazing and accommodating the staff were. I don’t get out often but I was made to feel comfortable, welcomed and relaxed throughout my whole visit.
Would recommend any one to go here for food/drink you won’t be disappointed😊

I came here in the week for a nice pint of ale and that is exactly what I got! The wainwright is without a doubt the best I've had in a long long time. Well done to the new management and keep up the great work. I will be back
T. E.
Had an amazing time at the pub. So much better than when the previous owners had it. Friendly , clean, tasty food and good atmosphere. What more could you want!
N. G.
Just a massive thanks to the two bar staff on shift today. Apologises for the wait at the bar even though there wasn’t really much of a cue, extremely polite and accommodating. We ordered food and my other half wasn’t feeling well so they packed it up to go the best they could. Really impressed with the two lads ro couldn’t do enough to accommodate us. It’s the little things that count
S. C.
A great pub to go. Very friendly staff all ways make you feel welcome love the live music on Saturdays and quiz night on Wednesdays they all offer more entertainment so why not go
R. W.
Huge outdoor space! Food was OK but the bun my burger was in was like trying to cut through leather! Nice ambience inside & friendly staff.
W. S.
A brief visit but a very pleasant one. We felt welcomed. The recent refurbishment and new owners encouraged us to visit.
K. C.
Popped in here for dinner and a drink before a show in town, shoutout to the staff for making sure that my meal arrived quickly as I was in a rush! Fish and chips was perfect .
W. O.
Good service, friendly staff, drinks coming to table quickly even on Saturday night. Decent selection of draught beers. The only downside (but nothing big enough not to cone back) is the portion size of Buttermilk Goujons. 3 small pieces of chicken, however nice they were, are not worth £4.45. Especially if for the same price you can get big and tasty portion of nacho's...
S.
Lovely place, good bar staff who know how to look after customers. Nice drinks and food. Nice safe place.
W. H.
Lovely place to eat and drink the bar was busy which is always a good sign of a good pub.would definitely return😀
M. G.
Brill night in the New inns last night. Under new management and you can really tell. It had a great atmosphere and there was live music which was brilliant, my friend took one of his cards!. The staff,l and landlord were really friendly and couldn't do enough. V clean in there, it's been refreshed with new paint and pictures and it looks very inviting. Loos were super clean too. Highly recommended, I shall be going there for my birthday night out in a couple of weeks.
W. W.
Awesome place excellent staff that willingly go the extra mile to make you welcome and comfortable & the food is varied and most enjoyed I visited from Canada and visited most days of my 14 day stay to see famiky
S. C.
Been here several times. Never seem to have enough bar staff. One bar open on busy day. One till open and 2 staff run off their feet. Poor and puts me off coming again
B. W.
Great pub ade and Bernie the best hosts and the bar staff excellent would recommend any time
K. Q.
Best pub in Harborne. We are regulars here and would recommend this place to all...
p. b.
Excellent service, friendly, great team! Can’t fault them what so ever, will be back again soon. Thanks guys 👍.
R. W.
We called in on the off chance that there would be outdoor seating available and there was. It was Friday 23rd April around 14:00. We were impressed that there was security on the beer garden entrance and they definitely knew what they were doing but were very polite and helpful at the same time. After scanning the NHS code we were asked to pick an unoccupied table which we did. A waitress was soon round to take our order and before long bring it to us. Similarly when we had a second round. The whole of the garden was very clean, the tables were wiped down as soon as anyone left. The toilet facilities were brilliant too and frequently cleaned. Although this was a fairly brief visit and we did have good weather, we will certainly go there and do this again. We may even eat next time as the menu looked good.
G. N.
Nice enough place, but not a huge selection of pints/drinks, could have more options on tap... staff were friendly
S. M.
Always been a good pub in Harborne. Shame the 30% NHS discount hasn't stayed to the same amount but the new landlord has done a good job post-covid and great to see more than one cask ale available! Excellent beer garden too
H. G.
This was pub was alright. We asked for some G&Ts and didn’t get the option to choose a single or double - once they arrived we had automatically been given (and charged for) doubles which seems really cheeky and money grabbing.
There is no app to order, so you have to flag down members of staff when they appear in the beer garden which is tedious and just a bit annoying / takes ages.
We also got told off for having a plastic bottle of cold drink on our table (it was a boiling hot summers day today and we had already spent about £50 on drinks in the pub). It felt a bit condescending given that although it had been bought elsewhere, we had actually spent a lot of money already on drinks at this pub and it wasn’t like we were purely drinking things we hadn’t paid for at the venue. Overall, it seemed a bit expensive, unorganised and not as enjoyable as other pubs along the high street in Harborne.
H. K.
Nice place with plenty of seating. Went in on a Monday night so it was lovely and quiet. Good gluten free beer options.
j. w.
Me and my friend went to this pub today and we were waiting for 30 minutes just to be served food and drink. But when we did receive our food and drinks they were very nice. I'm not to sure if I would visit this place again or not.
M. M.
Lovely garden during restrictions, however, a one hour wait between being seated & being asked for a drink order was unacceptable. I saw people up & leave in frustration. The organisation of serving customers was, at best, haphazard & at worst, unpleasant.
E. H.
Beer great, food good (although many items were not available). There was confusion over our booking, and there was issues with different people paying separately.

Fantastic pub with friendly staff and delicious food 😋 xx

I've had some really good meals here and the pub garden is fantastic in the summer. There's lots of places to park on the nearby roads too. I'll definitely be visiting again in the future!
D. T.
Reasonable drinks in here and staff were friendly too thanks all
M. Y. O. B.
Used to be my favourite local but closing the front bar, having to wait ages whist cocktails get made and no table service - could die of old age waiting for a drink. Also NIMBY neighbours have screwed up the lovely garden which has to close at 9.
S. S.
Friendly staff, good food, new ownership but the ales still have a funny smell to them. Change your lines!
J. M.
Love this pub very friendly staff.
A. S.
Food ok, Was expecting better quality. Had 2 x Chicken and Chorizo Grill's but Corn on the Cob was missing of both and chicken not very succulent. And Chicken fillet burger was a bit dry. Was hoping for better, nice garden area though.
S. O.
Lovely child friendly pub with helpful and accommodating staff. Good selection of popular and under cover ales. Being a vegetarian, pub food is often pretty basic and underwhelming but the pan fried gnocchi was excellent and the wife who is not a vege even loved her salad. Carnivores will love their grub too, which I have tried first hand over past few years. They have a huge garden which is great in the summer. Not sure why this place isn't busier in the winter months, given it is pretty much on par in many ways to the plough. Guess this is due to the location as it's a bit more of the beaten track in Harbourne. Toilets are clean but could be a bit bigger, but otherwise no complains. Probably one of our favourite pubs in Birmingham
K. C.
Friendly staff lovely atmosphere well organized
C. S.
Main bar was closed, used to be such a cosy room. It's lost its charm, such a shame. The old bowling green is now full of benches but the grass is awful. The garden is so unloved.
J. P.
This pub has improved leaps and bounds since it was taken over by the same guys behind city centre favourites such as the Victoria and the Island Bar. Normally at least one or two decent ales on tap, and in the summer it has the nicest outdoor beer garden of all the pubs in Harborne. Generally less crowded than the Plough and the Junction but never deserted. Food is good, but very, very expensive.
A. M.
Great decor and nice pub atmosphere, the only cosy pub in Harborne main High Street area (possibly along with The Junction) which isn’t full of contentious folk and which has reasonably priced drinks (Plough loses on both of those). Since been taken over by brewery however drinks selection remains good but food has gone off from what it used to be. NHS discount on Mondays a winner.
Z. T.
Great pint and service!
V. “. P.
Great beer garden
A.
Very nice pub and is family friendly but at certain times the kitchen is closed
Things I like about it that it has a huge outdoor area with a beanbag and some detchairs that also have ping pong tables but you have to bring your own ping pong stuff and the inside is very cosy I would recommend this place and it is a great pub
D. W.
Best pub in the town
L.
Really nice pub. Great staff.
C. S.
Just been for the the first time on a friday lunchtime. Really impressed, nice pale ale, steak and lovely crispy fries. Staff attentive and friendly. Happy to eat here again.
E. J.
Best all round pub in harborne, its got a wide range of beers and food without being too expensive. In the summer this place is THE place to be, massive beer garden with shade, nice friendly atmosphere without being cramped, you could bring kids here and the garden is so big you wouldn't feel awkward or too close to anyone. A must visit in harborne!
M. M.
Full of students. Not necessarily a bad thing but can get loud unexpectedly. Not clean. Food is terrible and you won't feel great after eating here. Good drinks selection.
J. H.
Fantastic pub with friendly staff and delicious food 😋 xx
S. A.
Sammie made our day xxx
Food was great very reasonable priced drinks x
M. C.
Top place good beer food smells great and landlady and landlord are top people to
W. I.
A simple but good hotel. Clean room with good facilities. Only major light down is the breakfast. Only cereals with coffee and toast on offer. Sadly no pastries.
A. J.
Lovely meal with friends.
V.
Nice cosy pub with good cocktails!
c. m.
This is a warm and friendly pub. The food is decent as is the choice of drinks. At the beginning of the week thay have a few specials and themed nights like, Burger night, Skeak night and 1kg of Chicken wings etc. Well recommend.
J. W.
Good new refit, menu and great customer service. However, whilst the food is very good, it's very overpriced for what's on offer. For a steakhouse the steaks are miserly sized and poor value for money.
C. A.
Lovely gastro-pub out the way of the main Harbourne drag. Huge beer garden which is perfect for the whole family. Don't miss the Sunday roast, when it's gone, it's gone!
T. D.
Great place for an off high street drink. Comfort food if you want it. Not a great selection of lagers, service just about acceptable speed-wise when its quiet!!
M. G.
I’ve always loved the vibe, decor and beer garden at the new inn. I can’t wait to pop back with Covid is alll said and done.
J. P.
Nice place but never really feel comfortable there - only open bar is in a huge empty dining room but the pub seats are in a cosy front bar that is closed
P. S.
New staff, new beers 🍻 😎
a. w.
Nice pub and huge outside area.
J. E.
Only had one pint, as no food on, but a very nice one.

D. B.
New owner's nice people booked a table for Christmas eve. Food has always been good here
N. G.
Star for selling booze, star for table tennis, star for large beer garden. Lot of wasps and mates son was allowed to order and eat custard with fish fingers and for those reasons alone it remains 3 star.
G. M.

L. R.

a. m.

S. K.
A great addition to Harborne's collection of pubs. NHS staff get a 30% discount too.
H. W.
Would have been 5 purely because of the serving of fish fingers and custard. But the volume of wasps took one off.
