Great service, friendly staff, excellent food. The new menu is great. Very often vegan pizza feels like an afterthought but at The Church that isn't the case. The vegan options are well balanced and delicious, they're not lacking anything and the combination of toppings is perfect. It's great to finally have excellent pizza in the JQ! As always, the drinks menu (especially the choice of cocktails) is exceptionally good. I highly recommend visiting the newly refurbished bar and pizzeria, especially on a hot day when you can take your drink and food to the roof.

Had the most amazing night here! The staff were so friendly and kind. They tried so hard to keep us dry and seat us comfortably with blankets. Service was constant, energetic and enthusiastic. The food was amazing and it was all really well priced. Met the owner who was great to chat to and had an awesome throwback playlist on. Made my birthday feel special despite it being on a rainy night in lockdown!

“Take me to Church!” The Church is not a place of worship, it’s a pub and a bloody good one at that. Walk in and immediately you are surrounded by a piece of Birmingham history. The pub formula is evident, small wooden stools upholstered in a tartan mix adorn well used tables that sit the perfect distance from the window side benches. The gently rounded bar area is at the perfect height to rest the elbows. The glazed windows let a mass of light into the open communal area giving the perfect level of privacy. I was attracted to this establishment because of rave reviews of its pizzas. While they won’t kick Baked in Brick out of bed for taste. They are quality and are delivered piping hot with fresh and perky ingredients. What I loved was the attention to detail; pizzas are served with a pizza slicer, allowing the admirer to elegantly cut slices to meet their portion-ary requirements. It’s easy to draw your attentions away from the food and admire the interior. The eclectic cues are evident in every corner. This place is a photographers dream. Retro here, questionable artistic licensed inanimate object there. What the hell a glitter ball was doing above our heads. I guess you have to be here at the dying hours on a weekend. A brilliant Birmingham pub food experience. I loved its relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Food was brilliant value. I just wish it was closer to the centre. Hah, anyway, we could all do with an extra few steps on the Step-o-meter app.

Hidden gem of a roof terrace in the Jewellery Quarter. Lovely place that catches the sun and also has a covered area with heaters for when it gets a bit colder. Service is speedy and very friendly. Definitely somewhere you should try out!

This is by far the best pub in the jewellery quarter. I've popped in on and off for 30 years. The manager Alan is so friendly likewise the bar staff. In the daytime it's very chilled out, excellent ska/reggae some days, which I love. In the evening it can get very busy but it's still OK for everyone, regardless of age. It's Everard's so real ale fans won't be disappointed. All the beers are superbly kept. The food is tasty, filling, and reasonably priced. The roof terrace is great, especially in the summer.

Decent pub, but small range of real ales. Bar man was fun (but swore about something when serving us 2nd occasion- unprofessional). Lovely roof top terrace (plenty of seating). Clientele weren't too rough, which u can get in city centre places... With a bigger range of ales and more staff this could be a GREAT pub, hence 3 stars. Nicely located if you're taking in a show, or performing at Blue Orange Theatre over the road.

EDIT: They now only serve pizzas, which are two for one and they are amazing! But can't help but miss the old menu. The whole pub is now refurbed and feels fresh and new without loosing its style. Great to see an independent grow. I only take away one star as now there is nowhere good in the city to eat what they used to make and its sorely missed! Old review: Best food and drink venue in Birmingham, ran by great staff that really care. Food is world class, highly recommend that award winning ribs and butter milk chicken!!

When you walk in it looks small... but once you walk through to the back there is more than meets the eye. A second bar and dance floor at the back, and a beautiful open terrace on top. The food is decent, not just for their good selection of pizzas and local beers, and the staff is always very friendly

A really excellent refurbishment. A nice bar area at the front, a more industrial room at the back, and a very good sun terrace on top. I wish they did a vegetarian version of the Full English breakfast, however the egg and tomato sourdough breakfast sandwich was lovely. Staff very friendly and helpful. A really impressive addition to the area and a must if you are visiting the nearby Lord Clifden.

Great vibe, wonderful pizza. The church has a couple of rooms, each with a distinct feel, making the place really cosy. The roof terrace is very cool (shame the view is mostly of demolition sites) and the pizzeria creates wood fired (most amazing smell wheb cooking), fab tasting food. Try the vegan pizza with the beetroot sauce - absolutely delicious and I am very definitely a carnivore!!!

Unusual little place with the now regular style of craft beers, and a soul food menu - multi rooms with a twisty little layout sadly the music is far too loud throughout the pub. Why do places insist on making it so loud you can't order a drink and with the multiple rooms it is incredibly easy to have a loud dance room and a quieter area of the pub. The smoking terrace was roped off leading to people congregating in the weird almost outdoor but not quite middle section. Also trying to navigate through the pub with your drink is impossible none of the doors open in the right order.

The outside looks nice and clean. When my partner and I walked in, the decor did seem a bit like we just walked into our local dog and duck pub. The staff behind the bar greeted us and asked us to take a seat. We looked at the menu and was completely spoiled for choice. I ordered our drinks from the bar. The very friendly bar staff said they would bring them to the table. Very nice for a pub i thought Now The Church is famous for having one of the best burgers in Birmingham called The King Is Dead. My girlfriend had that, and said it was the best burger she has ever had in her life. I had the Soul Food Fried Chicken - Buttermilk fried chicken using free-range thigh and drumstick. Served with mac & cheese, ham hock greens and a cheesy biscuit. This food was so delicious. It puts KFC to shame. The price of the food is very reasonable considering the outstanding quality. I thought the customer service was second to none. A very enjoyable experience. Oh and if you smoke, there is a roof top terrace to go and enjoy an after dinner cheroot. Best food in Birmingham. we shall definitely be returning.

A new contender to the Jewellery Quarter's range of gastro/urban pubs. It's main feature is it's hidden gem of a roof garden which is perfect for Pimm's O'clock on a summer's day. Also some fantastic soul food can be found here as it is now the HQ for the Soul Food Project, started in The Hare and Hounds, Kings Heath it aims to take "Simple ingredients cooked with care and passion, turned into something beautiful and served with some Southern hospitality". Be sure to look out for special events too. I recently went to their "Crayfish Boil", great opportunity to try a real southern delicacy.

The drinks are a little expensive but it's the only downside, and there is no entrance fee!
