Great food, service and value for money. The app is best avoided as my order failed (the items were left in the basket) due to a missing item apparently so we changed that item and proceeded to order. However it was explained the first order had gone through despite the app not showing a completion screen. Andrew managed to sort a refund out for this promptly. It’s not the locations fault the app is poor I’d recommend ordering your food at the bar.

We come here regularly for meals with my parents. We’ve got to know Sharon and the team very well.. I really admire everything there doing.. COVID was a stressful time for us all but the way the team have over come new ways of working and ensuring each and every measure was covered was nothing short of outstanding. Not only that they kept there high standards all the way through and continue to do so week in, week out. Drinks are always served with a smile. Food always tasty and delicious! Keep up the good work guys! Your doing a fantastic job!

Went there for lunch, liked the environment. The food were standard. Setting arranged according to mass choice. Stuffs were helpful and welcoming. However the dessert were super good. I loved it. Hopefully you can enjoy it too. 😊

This is not a high end, haute cuisine gastropub. Now you know that, you should definitely visit if you happen to be nearby. I had the French Style Dip burger and I was very impressed with the quality. Two good burgers, a few tips of fillet and a lovely beef dripping sauce for about £12. Everything well seasoned, well cooked and delicious. You're going to a medium tier chain pub and getting actually very decent food for excellent prices. The service was prompt and friendly including a member of the bar staff who came and entertained our 7 month old who was just starting to get a bit bored while we finished our mains. There is a beer garden out back which is more of a terraced outdoor seating area by a car park. Beware though, the website describes the setting in very idyllic terms, including a scene setting description as a canal side location. This is accurate literally, but the canal is set back behind a metal fence and a hedge. It's not a picturesque setting but it is a very good place to eat.

To be honest I use the County Girl regularly, I don't usually complete surveys such as this however I would like to comment on Sharon (the general manager) I have always been keen to support local charities. Sharon has ALWAYS tried her utmost also to help in anyway she could to support local charities. I personally feel that this is something that you should be made aware of as she also leads a tight ship regarding the pub and staff but still finds the time to help.

Our very first family over night stay in Birmingham and today we went to Cadbury’s World! We were hungry afterwards and googled places near by and found this little gem! We was served by Sharon who was very helpful with my wife’s Gluten Allergy.. She went though the allergy guide and helped my wife pick out exactly what she could have. The drinks were great - especially the Proper Job Ale. The food came out reasonably fast even though they were very busy.. it was fantastic and cooked perfectly. If we’re in Birmingham again, we will definitely be visiting! Thank you Sharon and Team

The 'trio roast' was simply the best pub Sunday lunch I've ever had. Generous servings of quality roast meats and accompaniments, well cooked veg, lovely gravy and proper jars and bottles of sauces rather than cheap sachets. Good range of well kept real ales too. The staff were so welcoming and attentive. Has a small monitored car park, but street parking also available. Highly recommended!

Can not thank Sharon, Donna and the team for a great afternoon and evening we had for our daughters wedding reception on Saturday 19th February 2022. With just 6 weeks notice to sort everything and for menus to be agreed and meals provided as requested on time (many thanks to the chef for these), everything was arranged and the reception passed without a hitch.

When I was told I was going to The Country Girl, I thought it was going to be full of cowboys and hicks. Turns out, it’s actually quite a nice pub with lots of room to sit and relax after a long day of revision. We came for a couple pints, and was informed it was Quiz Night so of course we stayed and played. Although we walked home losers, it was still a fun time. The only downside is I asked for a real Coke and they gave me gross Pepsi or fake Coke, not sure what it was but it was nasty :,( Pints were good, nice selection of beers, and ciders.

Still a nice place, good atmosphere, friendly and helpful service. However the food was not up to the same standard. It might be because we all had the Sunday roast, which is made in advance, rather than freshly made to order. The vegetables where over cooked and there was not enough meat. This was the first time we had been out since the restaurant opened in doors, they we're very good at keeping people safe and using the app to order food etc was very efficient.

A good venue with good prices. The atmosphere is at its best when Sharron is on the tills, though there are some better options nearby. Food is good and served quickly, though it isn't the most amazing either. The country girl is a frequent visit because it's exactly what it says it is, a simple, cheap, reasonable pint with friendly enough bar staff. Certainly not a place to be avoided.

Had a very nice, very relaxed meal here last night (Sunday). Disappointed that the real ales weren't available but completely understandable with having only just re opened. Also some meals were not available due to temporary shortage of some ingredients but meals we had were very tasty and SO nice to eat sometning someone else had prepared after 4 months! Social distancing of tables and access around the place spot on and loads of cleaning and sanitisation very evident. Part of a pub chain. The country girl is the better of the 2 that are close together. The food is excellent and the menu superb. They do s set menu one coarse two coarse or three coarse. The three coarse is only roughly £8.95. Try it I m sure your enjoy it. The place is very clean and superbly decorated. Friendly staff will assist tend to your needs. Enjoy

Due to Covid there are lots of rules in place about masks, having table service etc but the Country Girl is great at following these and made me feel safe and comfortable whilst I enjoyed my meal. Good pub food at a reasonable price especially on a weekday lunchtime. Cosy fires too.

I've been here twice now. The staff are friendly, and the food is mostly good. My dad and I both ordered gammon, but were told they only had 1 left - at 14:30 on a Tuesday. Also, the peas were not very fresh and tasted too mushy. Despite that, the atmosphere was good, the desserts were great, and it is an all-round good place to eat lunch.

However, the waitress couldn't put this through on the till and so made us pay for the cauliflower cheese extra which could have been handled better really... Like just write it on the food ticket in the kitchen? I didn't order or I would have told her that myself lol

Very friendly pub with a nice mix of locals and students. Different guest ales are available each week and the staff are happy to give you a try before purchasing. The Quiz nights on Mondays and Wednesdays are very popular and you should arrive early if you want to get a table. Despite overlooking the car park, the garden at the back is a nice place to catch the sun during the summer. I've been drinking here for over 20 years and I can't see myself stopping anytime soon.

A lovely pub with a great atmosphere, knowlageable staff, the food and drinks are reasonably priced. There is a large car park and outdoor heated seating. It gets quite busy at weekends so the place has a good buzz. The toilets were clean too. I will be going there again.

Popped in for lunch. Downloaded the app to get a free drink reward and ordered from the vegetarian menu, which has a reasonable selection. Food was served fast! Probably too fast... this would account for the lukewarm veg and slightly under-toasted garlic ciabatta! The plate was so cold that the veg quickly cooled further too... however, the lentil and spinach pie was hot and tasty and rather filling! Made up for it’s culinary surroundings. Staff were average, no one going out of their way but not unpleasant. Would stop by again for a basic lunch br wouldn’t opt for it for anything special.

Booked in advance and had no trouble changing one of the meals we booked, becuase one of the ladies decided against a turkey dinner. Place was very busy but service was excellent.

The food is what you would expect from the chain; always good for what you pay. The staff were amazingly friendly and tried to help comfort one of the children in the group that was overly tired and a bit tearful. 1 star removed as the chairs we sat on were torn and damaged and from a health and safety perspective this meant the chair was likely to be covered in bacteria as the foam was protruding and there was no way they could clean it appropriately.

the pub and bar was nicely done out and the staff were friendly but rushed off their feet. It was fathers day , the hottest day of the year and we arrived at 6pm . however the Sunday roast took over 1 hour to come and when it did it was burnt and looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for ages. we did not complain as my elderly mum and dad just wanted to get home. we would come back to the country girl for a couple of drinks but not to eat again.

Me and my girlfriend came in for a Sunday roast, my girlfriend has gluten free dietary requirements and the bar had an allergens menu available which was amazing. Jonathon looked after us and gave some A class service, really beautiful amazing space and relaxed homely atmosphere 100% we will be coming back.

Very disappointing, waited 45 minutes for food. Sisters chicken was burnt but fairplay they did refund once told. Pudding came out with melted ice cream, could not be bothered to complain again. Staff however were friendly and worked hard. Toilets were unkempt, no toilet paper, sinks dirty (obviously not checked). Although a booking was made for nine people well in advance there was no Sunday lunch left

A bit rude barman swiped my Card without asking and when I said that I would rather use chip& pin he replied that is not his fault and that I need to contact my bank. Always use my Card with pin and never had a problem with that. Maybe its a fact that Card reader was quite dirty and sticky to touchpad. Food - not bad though. Service - don't expect a smile !

Amazing service and exceptional food !

Two words spring to mind: ‘warm’ and ‘comfortable’. That’s what you’ll get here. The food and drinks are both fine, perhaps a 6 or 7 out of 10 in terms of great cuisine but on the same scale Weatherspoon’s would be a 3 or 4! Tonnes of parking at the back, tonnes of seating inside and out (with outdoor heaters / lighting) and friendly staff. Popular amongst University students during term time but also visited by all ages.

visited this pub a number of times, food is usually good, but if you like your real ales its very hit and miss, had to take 2 pints back on Friday (5pm) due to inexperienced staff , 1. Rev James, the barman pulled it without the screw attachment on the pump ended up with a flat warm beer, he put it on the counter and walked off!! 2. Ember, there flagship beer, as it was pull you could see it was as cloudy as soup , this was pointed out the reply was "its like that it will clear"... it didn't !!.when asked to replace it, we were told " we should charge you for this" my response is not printable. they also overcharged for food by £2, the Scottish lady who did this said "it was VAT" we questioned it, and she changed her tune when the manager/senior turned up and said" she must have pressed the wrong button". on the whole this pub has a lovely atmosphere with a nice mix of ages its just let down by inexperienced bar staff.

Brilliant gastro pub! Staff are very friendly and service was great! :) I bought 2 main set meals and 2 pints for just over £13 what a great deal!! we had fish and chips and I can say that £4.50 a meal the food was great and there was enough to feed me; which is no easy feat i must say haha. wait for the food must have been about 10 - 15 mins at max so once me and the girlfriend was sat down and comfortable with our drinks the food had arrived! :) I definitely say that if in Selly Oak again and need something to eat i will go out of my way to go back for food even if i am on the other side of Selly Oak! Thanks for such a great service and good food. You deserve every star! ^^

Visit an ember inns at least 4 times a month if not more. Usually visit the selly tavern as it is round the corner but have visited the colebrook as well. Went to country girl after a good 5 years and i have to say the service was spot on. The staff are polite and courteous, all smiling front of house and even the manager was running around with the team. This will now become our regular as selly tavern could really learn a lot from these guys. They also ensure you get your loyalty points properly here where as at selly tavern we have missed out points on the last 4 visits. Food is of good quality here chicken wings fell of the bone and the double chicken grilled stack burger is on point wirh cheese n bacon on top. One of the lads by the name of Cookie is a top chap any issues were corrected promptly. A all round great place to dine with a pleasant team of staff.

As a large family of 10 with 3 young children. We chose the country girl as our first choice to go for our 8 year olds birthday as it has her favourite dinner on the childs menu (steak) we were given the most best service throughout our dinner. The male that was looking after us (i dont know his name) was superb and couldnt do enough for us as a family. So thank you to him and the team for going above and beyond for us. It made the little girls birthday. We also had a stress free dinner as the kids where entertained from start to finish with their dinner coming out first and colouring for them. Big thank you!

Lovely pub and beer gardens. However for a ember inn pub, the food is not the best. Its rushed and thrown together to the point some items were unedible. After having the same dish previously from a different ember inn pub i was really let down.
