Reviews of The Flapper

Very first pub I visited in Birmingham back in 2012 still the favourite one. I don't know what it is, probably the continental type of vibe, or variety of people visiting the place. I don't know what type of music they prefer either as I have heard everything in there. But mostly rock I suppose. Two pool tables, bit of a dancefloor, B'ham canals view from balcony. Easy access and friendly staff. 👍

My friend suggested this place, so we went and really had a good time. Good music, good food and good drinks.

Been visiting The Flapper for almost 30 years (which is terrifying!) and genuinely love the place. we even fell in love with their awesome skull flocked wallpaper, and have it in our livingroom. Seen some amazing bands downstairs, drank far too much (remember Dogbolter beer!?) and had so much fun in this iconic pub. I can't tell you how happy I am that it is still open. When my son and daughter are old enough to visit, I'll be overjoyed to sit next to the canal and have a drink and a sarnie with them, hopefully they'll go on to make amazing memories here too. Long live The Flapper!a

Amazing place. If you are after a chill evening with banging music and pool tables, lovely staff and a fantastic selection of drinks then come to this hidden gem, you will not be disappointed!
T. H.
Great alternative venue. Good variety of beer. Has outstanding food and the acoustics downstairs are 10/10. My only criticism is in the main bar upstairs the music was so loud we couldn't even have a conversation, had to stand outside by the canal just to catch up with friends
T. S.
Good staff ,live music in the week and weekends good selection of beers nice place to get away from crowds on a Saturday lunchtime. By the canal lovely in te summer watching the boats come through the locks highly recommend if in Birmingham
P. P.
Fantastic pub in a great location.
Decent beer, good staff, good music and live bands downstairs. Food is nice and relatively cheap.
B. B.
This pub is as great now as it was in the 90s. Still has live music and is still the best pub in Birmingham without a doubt.
C. H.
First time I have been back since it reopened, great place, great beer, please keep the rock music alive! Great food great bar staff and manager 👍
S. G.
So glad this place is back open. Really enjoy coming here and the atmosphere. Currently my only issue is that it could do with opening earlier on a Sunday. 4pm you're generally not heading out or moving locations.
M. B.
A decent dive bar with a good atmosphere that's seen better days but still brings a smile. Expect cheap beer and spirits, classic rock and metal, wonky pool tables and toilets you'll want to leave before you've even entered. Live music downstairs often, and a spacious canalside outdoor area.
Since reopening they have been offering food, and it's surprisingly good. The chicken in particular is fantastic, but I've tried most of the menu and it's all good. Just order early as they frequently stop service without notice.

So good to be back after meeting my other half here 29 years ago. Enjoyed a delicious lunch & remembering our student days🎶😍
B. M.
Really cool rockin' pub, and a great venue. Long bar downstairs in the venue as well as upstairs is a great touch. Lovely smoking area next to the canal as well.
Highly recommend.
M.
What a brilliant place! Dog friendly! Staff even brought us a bowl of water for the doggo. The staff are so kind, lots of outdoor and indoor seating so can sit away from other dogs if need be. Some outdoor seating is also under roof/walkway so you're covered from the rain. So glad they re-opened!
A. J.
Love the music and the feel of the place. Doesn't pander to the sterile/fake tan crowd of Broad street. They play music loud. Get over it.
J. M.
DO NOT LET THIS CLOSE TO BE DEVELOPED. Time and time again we hear the same story. They want to build more apartments. This place is right in the heart of Brum (by the arena) alongside the canal but probably not known to so many. Specialist music venue but I had an excellent pint of Trooper whilst sitting on the peaceful balcony overlooking the city.
D. M.
An excellent canal side pub, nice veranda overlooking the canal, it is a great little live music venue downstairs.
J. D.
Excellent spot for a pub in town. By the canal but away from the hustle and bustle. I’m glad the place has been able to stay open with the threat of closure happening in the past. Drinks selection is good and the Pizzas are great. This is definitely my go-to place to end a night in town.
L. M.
We saw the pub during our walks and immediately it was clear as a day - this is a great place to be if you are a rock fan or a metal head. Lovely choices of beer for European Pilsner and Lager fans, great crowd on Saturday evening, nice music. The place has the spirit of rock'n'roll.
S. R.
great local venue for local bands plenty of indie and some metal too definatley a good place to see bands
J. A.
Fantastic little venue that has a lot to offer. Great selection of beers, ales and ciders. Live music, beer garden, fantastic atmosphere, good quality food at reasonable prices. A must for all. Real mix of customers, friendly efficient staff. Been a few times now slash a great evening.
N. R.
Love this place. Been a couple of times for gigs and always want to go back. The bar upstairs is a cracking pub environment with a pool table if I remember rightly.
The room where the gigs are is downstairs, completely black with a bar in there aswell, no windows so if you're claustrophobic maybe think twice but it's a great little music venue and I'd recommend it to anyone. Reasonably priced aswell.
K. K.
Devastated that our beloved Flapper only has a few weeks left until it's shut for good. So many fun memories made over the past 16 years, I will be very sad to see this place go. Make the most of this wonderful building with the friendliest bar staff and the eclectic mix of music on a weekend. Let's see the old girl off in style!
The Flapper is resurrected! Had a delightful time for Halloween, here's to many more wonderful nights until I'm too old to party!
A. P.
No frills, great music, great location. Love it
P. B.
Fantastic venue and friendly staff. Went to a gig there, great atmosphere.
D.
The Flapper is and always will be one of the best bars in Birmingham! Great atmosphere, great staff, great views of the canal. All round a perfect bar!
S. H.
Not really my scene. Was quite rocky, but everyone seemed nice and the beer was a decent price.
t. l.
Haven't been here for a while. Great atmosphere, great range of beers and spirits.
D. N.
Great pub glad it's back highly recommended
E. T.
Such a good pub nice music cheap drink I love it
M. S.
Absolutely love this place atmosphere is amazing, the staff are friendly and polite, quality food and drinks.
so glad it's back
R. I.
Friendly atmosphere with like minded musical tastes. Love the place
C. E.
Great place to watch a match with friends.
B. J. J.
Good pub, glad it's still open and serving the alt crowd. If you don't like Broad street boozers, go here 🤘
P. M.
One of the best places in the world, so happy it's open again 😁
D. S.
Just a great pub, nice atmosphere, lovely team running it. Thanks 👍
B. J.
It’s such a shame that this bar is pegged for closure! The upstairs bar area is spacious and fun, and the clientele is friendly. The bar staff are trendy and friendly and the drinks are reasonably priced. There is a great smoking terrace with views over the canal, so in the summer it is great to sit there. Downstairs there is the small, intimate music venue, also equipped with a bar. I hope this place does manage to stay open because it is a place I would frequent on future trips to Birmingham!
O. Q.
Great bar for rock music lovers. Always give this bar a visit before a gig as there's a great atmosphere. They have plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. They have a few pool tables and arcade games so it's easy to spend a few hours here. Lots of choice of drinks including craft beers and the prices are reasonable. The bar attracts a friendly crowd.
B. C.
Great rock bar! Good selection of beers (including Trooper!!), great music, friendly staff and a chilled out vibe. Downstairs is a cool venue for live bands. There were three playing on the night we were there, all excellent.
Highly recommended - if you like great music and top beer.
P. M.
Lovely venue, friendly staff.
e. j.
place looks much better now that it's been done up
J. C.
Good music, nice place.
Good hamburguer
P. C.
Great pub full of friendly rockers !!
M. M.
Great pub, great beers, great service and atmosphere. Loved the beer garden, but the gig sound engineering could have been better for the main act. If I could have heard the vocals it would be a 5 star review. The Flapper is unique in its importance to the Birmingham rock and air music scene. It's here that new and small bands get their breaks. This place is threatened with demolition by the people who have bought the property and the land, but they don't realise the jewel they have here.
G. C.
Convivial pub & live music venue with large outdoor seating area by the canal.
A local institution, rightly saved from closure.
N. W.
Great pub on the canal with outside seating. Live bands on downstairs often. I also put on my own charity gig in the venue which ran smoothly and was very successful. Pool tables and pinball machine. Good selection of drinks and DJs upstairs at weekends. Can get very busy, especially at weekends causing quite a wait at the bar.
C. M.
One of my favourite pubs in Birmingham... Quality rock venue, that's not all cock rock. The beer is keep to a high standard and the service is always great.
I have a lot of memories in this place and it's nice to see that it is still loved as much it was "back in my dad."
Always good to have a few rounds of pool to. 🤘👍
J. L.
Went here to see a band. It's a big pub out of the centre which I never would have visited had it not been for the fact this band was playing there. There's a lot of pluses to the place. Spacious, great atmosphere and the character is of aged lived in hostelry. There's a lack of an outside area for smokers meaning every exit has them hovering, that's not good but overall it's positive. Go and see for yourself.
J. B.
Went to see a band - nice atmosphere 😊 x
D. “. S.
Cool rock bar on the canal. Burgers were good!
J. G.
Big venue with plenty of outside seating, nice view of the canals, decent music and a decent pint
B. H.
This is THE bar for alternative folk in Birmingham city. Great friendly atmosphere, great staff and a decent pint at a decent price. The music is fantastic with a wide variety across the rock spectrum from pop punk to metal. Pool tables are in good nick so too are the pin ball machines and fruitys. The live music venue downstairs is great for grass roots intimate gigs. The flapper has an awesome beer garden that always draws in a good crows on a sunny day with views of the canal and plenty of seating.
I'm gonna miss this place when it closes down. I've had some of my best memories in this place.
R. S.
A really good metal/hard rock/alternative tavern in the heart of Birmingham. So refreshing and always a welcome, chilled-out atmosphere. The staff are always helpful and service at the bar is quick. They often have live bands on downstairs too.
P. H.
Kind of hipster pub, lots of young people behind the bar and customers. Came to see a blues show downstairs in what I'm guessing was the old cellar, and that was really great...although the downstairs bar wasn't open. Got really noisy later on, so a place if you want a busy pub but not one for a quiet drink by the cannel at the weekend evenings.
S. J.
Great canal side pub and venue for those who like rock and heavy music. I've seen loads of small and up and coming bands here from the UK and worldwide alike. One of kind in Birmingham. Warm staff and wide selection of drinks on tap at fair prices. An all round gem and favourite in the city.
K. K.
What, you haven't been to the flapper yet and you're reading reviews about it? Go there, now!
One of the best pubs in Birmingham period, it's on the canals but not in the trendy hot spots so it's not filled with drunken oafs like broad street has a habit of being. They have good ales on tap but don't charge stupid prices like some places. There's pinball there's pool, there are great big rustic tables, everything you like from a pub it's here.
But seriously, go check it out for yourself. I make sure when I have friends visit Birmingham for the first time that I take them to the flapper. It's a must.
A. R.
One of the loveliest places in Birmingham, tucked away by one of the many canals. It offers a great selection of drinks. There are two pool tables for fans of the sport. Both the terrace upstairs and the outdoors area offer lovely views of the canal. There is a basement area which sometimes hosts live music nights. Generally, the patrons are nice, lively and cheerful and the atmosphere is great. It's a nice place to grab a drink and relax.
S. C.
A really nice, intimate gig venue with a great sound. Everything from all instrunents and vocals could be heard from the bands that played.
The drink selection upstairs is also wide enough to have something for most people, without being expensive for the area.
M. W.
I just don't find anywhere as homely as this pub. It's not a destination, it's a way of life.
L. W.
Best pub in town
A. V.
Went to see a couple of bands. It's a good small venue for new bands with a growing following. Typically indie/alternative/rock based clientele and music. Pool table inside and outdoor patio and balcony overlooking a canal wharf. Gets very busy when certain bands are on at the Arena, just 2 minutes away. Basic food offerings. Cask ales were not up to much though.
W. F.
Seems to have been recently updated, which is weird given it keeps being talked about as being demolished by property developers. That aside, enjoyable place, some great acts have played there over the years. Great history, next to the Birmingham canal so it makes for a lovely setting.
L. G.
Excellent place, would definitely recommend
A. G.
Exceptional burgers! You have to taste them ! 🍔
P. M.
Friendly atmosphere brilliant music venue. Always a pleasure.
J. B.
This pub and music venue has one of the best beer gardens in Birmingham, with a unique view on the canal and narrow boats, some of which have permanent mooring here, others just stopping for a short break. The pub has a nice selection of beers, serve also cocktails, and have also pizza on their list of treats. Popular pub quiz night on Thursdays, 2 pool tables, and bar games. Very friendly staff and open to all.
The music venue downstairs helps smaller bands to showcase their talent to their public as live music is not only for big venues.
The Flapper was opened as The Longboat in the 70's and then renamed The Flapper and Firkin, before adopting its current name. It is regularly under threat of being demolished to redevelop the site into apartments, and therefore needs every support it can get to stay strong and keep going.
K. E.
One of THE Best drinking venue's in Birmingham
Great Staff, Good Service.
L. B.
Decent pub. Mixed clientele. On the night we went there was live band. £6entrance. Weirdly this wasn't really advertised, but people were happy to tell me. Music was metal, not sure if dancing as we left early. One of my group didn't feel comfortable in very diff venu. I'd go back and explore further, but will choose more suitable companions
C. H.
Great pub fantastic atmosphere
S. M.
The mighty flapper, best bar in Birmingham if you're after a great pint, great music and a truly wonderful and friendly atmosphere. Absolutely a must visit for everyone. Try the Thursday quiz for some brain training whilst burning a few cells with beer.
R. B.
Had a fantastic time watching Sketchshow and Thank You Scientist there
N. B.
Amazing bar and venue, I heard it was changing to a hotel which is sad. Cheap drinks!
e.
While the unique music is certainly a refreshing break from the pop music in regular bars, ( though metal is not a universal taste), the tables are unstable and feel flimsy. The drinks are also rather expensive in comparison to other pubs and is similar to club pricing.
K. J.
Best rock pub in Birmingham. Great location on the canal, seating is inside and also outside as well which is perfect in the summer. Beer selection is alright, typical pub selection. The music is great metal/rock and they have a couple of pool tables there as well.
M. S.
Good atmosphere, decent prices and not the kind of awful music you get in most pubs these days. Also hosts live music events regularly. Glad it hasn't closed down.
D. L.
Fantastic old skool music venue and pub. The decor and the drinks haven't changed in decades but that's part of its charm. The beer garden is a great space to drink by the canals on a hot summers day just out of the hussle and bustle of more popular venues in brindley place. It's not hipster or posh. It's a pub with some great history and character.
D. W.
I'm overjoyed that this superb boozer is staying open for the time being. The beer is excellent but more importantly is that this is one of the last surviving small music venues in the centre of Brum. It's support of the hard rock and metal scene in particular is unparalleled in the city. Hopefully it will be around for many years to come.
M. S.
Great place for letting your hair down. Old and new music played. Brilliant. People of all ages bopping about. A view of the canal basin can be seen from the balcony. Luv my music so I really enjoyed it.
D. H.
Nice atmosphere here.
Good service from pleasant staff.
Recommend it for a visit.
The locals that frequent it are also friendly, despite its location being just off Gas Street Basin in Birmingham.
I recall it from when in was called The Long Boat - this was a few decades ago though.
O. J.
Nice location away from broad st. Would love to go again soon. I’ll be sad to see this go down next year to replace this nice place with houses. Toilets aren’t very big that’s why I gave four stars.
E. P.
Love the flapper! Great value drinks, lovely canalside location, awesome live music and regular events like the weekly pub quiz. One thing to bear in mind is they don't accept card, so make sure to have some cash on you!
J. S.
It's nice being next to the canal, ales are nice too. However, got served with a chipped glass that cut a friends lip. Wouldn't have been a problem if they offered a some form of recompense e.g. a drink. But nothing was offered.
It would have been nice to feel your patronage was appreciated given that we'd been drinking there all afternoon.
P. S.
Great atmosphere, there are two pool tables inside and plenty of tables outside as well. Always playing rock music, with gigs downstairs. Just a real bummer it's gonna close in 2019.
S. S.
While out of the way, this place is definitely worth a visit. Canal side seating perfect in the summer. Great music all year round. A must for any Rock and Metal fans.
A. F.
Still a good place to drink. The pool table policy is a joke where players insist that they have the right to play because they beat someone else on the last game played on that table. I can understand the punters being like that but not the bouncer who aggressively sides with the idiots insisting the have to right to play on your money.
A. J.
The flapper is a great bar to.meet up.with alternative people, listen to alternative music and enjoy the canal. Sadly this place will be pulled down soon. So enjoy it while it lasts.
A. S.
At The Flapper for the Little Cavalier festival. Great bands, great beers, next to no yuppies. Wonder how many noise-rock bands these incoming luxury flats can fit up their arse.
A. S.
Probably my favourite pub in the world. Great selection of beers. Nice pizzas and great music. They also do themed night depending what's on at the Barclaycard Arena.
Y.
Great to see this still open Hope this means that the owners /developers have changed there minds
D. P.
Love this place, glad it's back
M. A.
Rough, ready rock bar but does what it says on the tin. Staff are friendly, good variety of booze and they do gigs, pool, quiz machine, quiz nights and DJs. Get going before they close down for good!
S. O.
Great venue if you like indie rock. Unfortunately it's shutting down soon because as usual, they're selling to developers for flats. Get there before the end of June!
R. K.
The Flapper is nice and cozy place and whenever I have been there, the staff and other customers have been really welcoming and warm. It is right next to the canal, which gives the place a nice view. They also have a quiz, which is one of the best in the area.
J. T.
Nice view from their balcony, you can watch geese play
J. B. (.
Great crowd, all types of rock music playing. Drinks weren't a bad price. Two pinball machines, pub quiz, couple of pool tables.
B. F.
Have played here a few times and love the atmosphere of the place. Good beer and good canal views, alongside good regular live music. What more can you ask for.
A. C.
Lovely friendly bar, pool tables for those who like to play and a lovely balcony and outdoor seated area overlooking the canal, and plenty of lively live bands to see there, Dee their website for more information on live music
P. W.
An amazing place!!! Never been to a bar such as this. Great music and beers. Plays rock music, has a place for gigs and the beer garden views of the canal are amazing!!!
A. S.
Lovely pub by the canal. Plenty of outside seating. Lovely bar staff. Prices are decent. Rock pub. Live music.
J. C.
This place is a wonderful intimate music venue and it's a terrible shame that they are closing it to build flats unaffordable to those on the national average salary or the brum one. Birmingham will not be the same without it. It will be sorely missed.
D. D.
First visit, great venue - take plenty of cash as cards didn't work downstairs (seemed to be a regular problem). If you want to blend in wear black....
p. g.
A Great live music venue offering a platform for upcoming artists to showcase their sounds downstairs, whilst upstairs the pub has a friendly atmosphere, a great selection of drinks and in a great location overlooking the canal basin
D. C.
One of my favourite pubs in Birmingham. You can choose downstairs or up depending on your taste. Two pool tables too which is a bonus!
S. M.
Cool pub down by the canal. Really good live venue - cracking sound. Great in the summer to sit outside for a few pints too.
M. R.
It's truly a tragedy to know that this place is set to be torn down, despite our protests. Great music, very friendly staff and a wonderful atmosphere make for one of the best pubs in the city.
M. P.
Pretty cool rock themed pub with a great selection of ales and beers, nice location by the canal and a generally welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Just be sure to bring cash as they don't do card!
O. L.
The only place left in brum that plays metal music. Great atmosphere, drink oytside by the canal, great music as well. Also has live bands on.
P. S.
Best rock pub in the city, back from the dead!
A. B.
Great place to go see a gig. Saw Roseville here and they were brilliant. Get there while you can as it may be knocked down soon. Catch the 'Real People' at the castle and falcon 16th December.
P. M.
One of the most beautifully situated pubs in Birmingham overlooking Cambrian Wharf, what remains of the Newhall Branch of the mainline canal. One of the city's most photographed sites. On a summer evening with a pint of Trooper (Robinson's/Iron Maiden) in hand, the balcony is a magical place. Tranquility although barely a quarter of a mile from Brindley Place and Broad Street. Tranquility even though the Flapper is an important music venue giving opportunity to emerging bands and boasting a clientele from 18 to 80 years who all enjoy the vibe. Very different from the site's industrial past. History is all around. The Priestley riots of 1791 when the original Baskerville House was destroyed by fire. The public display of Baskerville's body by Gibson who built his "deep lock", the deepest on the whole canal network roughly between the library and Hall of Memory, until Tuel lock was built on the Rochdale canal late last century. The site of the first Women's Hospital promoted by Arthur Cadbury and pioneering surgeon Lawson Tait a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology. But like the original Baskerville House, the deep lock, the hospital, you may have missed The Flapper. It is due to close on 4th January 2020 fallen prey to a developer. Although planning permission has been refused in the face of local opposition, (and a 14000 petition from the whole West Midlands and beyond), the developer has seen fit to close the pub. For updates see The Flapper Appreciation Society. The fight continues.
l. j.
Loved coming here, me and my partner had a great time, it's has every old feeling about the building, and the view from the balcony up top just topped each time we was there off
J. W.
Been going all my adult life, friendly atmosphere & a decent pint. Great venue for live music too
Z. B.
Wonderful pub with the friendliest staff you could ask for! Great prices for food and tap with lots of choices and a wonderful atmosphere and gigs! ♡♡
C. G.
Good rock music and rock atmosphere in an excellent setting by the canals. Enjoy a pint under the sun in its massive beer garden or listen to some live music in its basement.
C. C.
One of my favourite places in the city. Proper good music, lots of space inside and outside
M. L.
Lovely staff great service and excellent prices on everything
A. G.
Best pub in Birmingham without a shadow of a doubt.
A. W.
Save the Flapper!
The Flapper is an iconic part of Birmingham's nightlife, it is in a brilliant location, offers an excellent night out and shouldn't be demolished to make way for some shoddily built flats. Ever fancied a drink after a concert at the nearby NIA, a game of pool, some live music, outdoor canalside seating? The Flapper offers all of this.
L. e. L.
Nice watering hole, chill atmosphere, good music, decent beer, ale and cider served, including Old Rossie. Nice view from the balcony
I. B.
A great find on the way to a concert at the Arena. Good food and drink and music too. Staff are great! Would definitely recommend.
D. J.
Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Nice balcony looking over the canal. Very relaxing to sit and have a few drinks
A. J.
Fantastic venue. Great crowd. Wonderful bands. Helpful and quick staff. Pity this venue must close 😢
A. p.
Always a good atmosphere with quality beer and good music. One of my favourite places which sadly I don't get to visit often.
P. E.
Really nice pub with good selection of drinks. Staff are amazing and really friendly. Great atmosphere and very good for live music
B. P.
Dog friendly pub lovely views of the canal and the Trooper beer is fabulous. And Oscar my dog loves the Black Country scratchings !
B. L.
On its last legs sadly. Great little live venue and they've offered pinball for as long as I can remember. Will miss it when it's gone.
L. E.
The most perfect place on earth ~ good drinks, good food, good music, lots of fun live events with the added bonus of amazing people and atmosphere (great value for money) <3 with the added bonus of a beautiful location on the canal to really relax and escape the city with friends
L. E.
The flapper was full of character with a nice view overlooking the canal. The pool tables and pinball machines were just an added bonus
K. B.
As always a wonderful night at the flapper. Staff are wonderfully friendly drink is always good and the atmosphere is perfect.
Long may it last.
S. V.
Went to see Pretty Vile and stayed for the other bands Walt Disco and HMLTD, it was a great night, good music.
b.
Best local music venue to see bands and to play. Great environment, lots of events and seasonal parties. Brilliant place
A. S.
Small venue in the heart of Birmingham, many a good night spent here for gigs and to catch up with friends. Would definitely recommend.
C.
Brilliant place. Excellent live music and a variety of different stuff on all through the week. Need more places like this 😀
M. H.
One of the best gig venues in Birmingham, also has a decent selection if beer, and just by the canal so quite picturesque
C. L.
Chilled environment, the gigs arenconsistantly awesome. The canal view is pretty as anything and the general public who enter are nothing but sound.
C. L.
Top rock bar in Birmingham by a country mile. Great staff, great people, amazing music. Simply put I love it here....
R. F.
Nice bar with good atmosphere. Had some good rock music playing while I was there.
d. m.
Very good atmosphere and clientele
B. B.
best pub in birmingham - great music, friendly people n cheap drinks. absolute tragedy that its shutting down, 100% recommend a visit before that happens in june
l. m.
Too drunk to remember my visit unfortunately, I have had a good few sessions in the flapper when i was younger though, always used to be a good laugh, can't really say what it's like these days though
D. W.
Great place to go for the rock scene. The gigs held there are small and intimate and after get to talk with band members.
Z. H.
Brilliant venue, such a shame to see it closing next year. However, the staff during live music events can be a bit over the top.
A. B.
Ok, The Flapper is a bit rough round the edges and Americans would describe it as a dive bar! But....it has great live venue downstairs and DJs upstairs at the wknd. Birminghams answer to The Cavern
R. L.
Great music venue. Great be. Great staff
Y. S.
Really cool venue for local bands, good capacity size and the bar staff are friendly :)
C. M.
Great selection of drinks. The staff were great very friendly. The atmosphere is superb and nice music as well.
B. J.
Great pub with a brilliant music history. As live as you like it with good beers too.
What's not to like?!!!!!!
s. w.
I may be middle aged, but I love that this place cares about the beer and the bogs. Neither stink of piss and is a bit of a cliche with metal bars...
R. S.
The flapper is an institution. Always great music, surprisingly good food (try the burgers) and the best value drinks for miles. Long live the Flapper.
J. H.
Out of the way but still popular rock pub, pinball, quiz machines and pool tables. Very nice in the summer with all the outdoor seating areas and being canal side.
D. S.
Ok do not regularly frequent...
C. D.
Great Pub with good prices and great views, even better as a venue which is perfect for intimate live gigs!
M. R.
Love the flapper. Great atmosphere, amazing outdoor area, good music. Hopefully it will stay open a long time!
K. J.
Great staff.. great drink selection. On the canals so fab place to drink outside and a stones throw from the Barclaycard arena.
S. S.
Great venue for gigs with the history of rock and folk dripping from the walls.
Never had a bad night here
M. C.
Great Rock bar, hidden gem in Birmingham.
W. M.
Lovely place on the Canals in Birmingham
J. B.

Had the best new years experience ever so far but it's an unbelievable shame that The Flapper will soon be closing down and handed over to those greedy property developers and the rediculous plans for bulding more unnecessary luxury apartments.
N. T.

While the unique music is certainly a refreshing break from the pop music in regular bars, ( though metal is not a universal taste), the tables are unstable and feel flimsy. The drinks are also rather expensive in comparison to other pubs and is similar to club pricing.
