Reviews of The Little Owl
H. W.
Absolutely loved this place, came here for a late lunch before going to see a performance in the Resort arena. We had the warmest of welcomes and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. There's a large varied menu with good veggie and vegan options. The food was cooked really well and tasted so nice. Felt like a a lovely environment to spend a couple of hours. Just be careful you park in the pub carpark rather than the Holiday in carpark. The pub has it's own entrance but Google maps wants to direct you info the hotel.

The food was lovely, the staff were very helpful and friendly, toilets were clean. We all had a really nice time. Be very careful where you park I thought I was in there car park but I was in the hotel's which is the same piece of land I have got £100 fine. Great!!!!!

Me and my wife visited the Little Owl today for a Valentines Lunch. We chose from the main menu instead of the Valentines special and all of our courses were amazing. The staff were excellent and it really made our day even more special, we're very lucky to have this wonderful little place on our doorstep
C. G.
Very polite staff. I had belly of pork very nice, but crackling could have been better. I would recommend the black forest chocolate pot for dessert.
Δ. Α.
Such a lovely place to relax, have a beer and eat. Amazing food, awesome English vibes, the best service ever. If you ever go to Birmingham you MUST visit this place AT LEAST once!!!
A.
Food was great. Mother's Day was booking only and very busy but food and service came quickly.
M.
Can't fault the place, located quite close to the NEC and next door to a Holiday Inn Hotel, serves traditional pub fayre and good selection of real ales along with the usual lagers. Staff friendly and attentive, nice old fashioned but stylish decor inside and had two open fires lit. Would certainly visit again if staying in the area.
M. K.
Very nice pub attached to hotel. Good beer and Lasagne meal exceeded expectations for pub grub. I really enjoyed it.
E. P.
Me and partner visited here for a birthday meal, we came across it on Google and thought how nice it looked, and we were not disappointed, the food was amazing, we were made to feel so welcome, our waiter Jarek was just so lovely and constantly checked to see if we were OK, gave recommendations and just a really happy person. It was busy the evening we went in and still food and drinks were brought out on time and we also didn't feel remotely rushed. It was just a really lovely little pub to go to and perfect for a date night, or family meal for special occasions, we will definitely be returning

When did pub grub get this good? I think I know England pretty well, having regularly travelled there since my childhood, and I still remember the greasy, bland food that one could get at these places, with some very honourable exceptions. It is totally different now. I had dinner at the Little Owl three times in a row. It was conveniently located next to my hotel, but I came back because I loved it. The only flip side is that I don't think servers should recommend Czech beer when asked for some local lager 😎. But I reckon I am a bit of a romantic.

Lovely pub. We ate here before attending a concert at Resorts World Arena. We stayed at the Premier Inn just down the road and it was only a 10 minute walk. The service was great, lots of choice on the food and drink menu and our food was lovely. Would fully recommend and would eat there again when next in the area.
R. C.
Amazing food, decoration, ambience and staff services. Enjoyed our dinner here as a stop over.
D. A.
A great pub & restaurant set between the Premier Inn & Holiday Inn on the outer edge of the NEC. Good local brews a friendly welcome in a lovely old world pub setting. Food is fantastic definitely something to suit everyone. Highly recommended.

Lovely olde worlde pub and restaurant. Cosy log fire. Lovely food and friendly service.

Been today for the first time. Flying from Birmingham in June so. Was looking for somewhere nearby to eat before we fly.so thought we would go today to try it out and I have to say we where not disappoint. The place is lovely staff very friendly and best of all the food was delicious husband had the burger and I had the chicken snitzel we both said how nice it all was.we are now looking forward to starting our next holiday with a brilliant meal at the little owl.well done to all the staff and a big thank-you from Mr &Mrs KING and we will see you in June. 👏👏👏

Nice and friendly pub restaurant. Very quick service and friendly staff
A. T.
Went here recently, I was able to book online beforehand, we arrived early and they were able to seat us.
Parking was confusing and I had to go into Holiday Inn to get a token to get through the barriers, it looked like there's another entrance but it wasn't well sign posted.
The restaurant was fairly quiet all evening, which made the slow service here particularly frustrating. We waited well over an hour for our food to arrive. Our server was friendly but we often had to repeat our orders several times to him.
The food was good, prices were expensive but then again you are 5 minutes from the NEC so not surprising.
Mostly it was let down by the very slow service on what was a strangely quiet Saturday night.
D. C.
Food was amazing, the steak was divine and that was before adding the beef dripping sauce.
Phoebe was a great waitress, would go the extra mile and should serve as an example to all waiting staff.
Would come again.
C. F.
Visited the Little Owl to celebrate my Daughters Birthday today. We all opted for Sunday Lunch and it was lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely be visiting again soon 😊
K. D.
It's been a long time.
Glad to be back! Glad to be able to be back!
Just a very quick lunch, but Decent food, decent beer and good service
😎👍
K. B.
My partner and I visited yesterday for lunch, and it was nice. It's a nice cosy pub and the food and service were great. We were served by Paula and had a good laugh. We will be back.
D. B.
Had a great meal. They have a very good drink selection. The service was very efficient and the girl who served our group Phoebe was really nice and made great menue suggestions
a. c.
Convenient for the Business park, staff very friendly, loss of stars was due to delay in the food and my friends steak being well done rather than as asked medium rare. A really nice place for a catch-up though and will try again at some point to see if it was a one off.
S. J.
Good choice of ales and beers. Food was great. Steak was perfect. Staff friendly and pub was really cosy. Not advertised well but a little gem a few minutes from the NEC. Would recommend and will revisit next time we are at the NEC. Thanks Little Owl..
P. M.
We had a coffee while waiting to collect someone from the airport very nice pub. Beware of the satnav directing your through the Holiday inn car park. You have to get a token to get out. 🥴🫣😂
G. M.
Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere and quick service.
m.
Good food, friendly stuff. But, take time with in.
u. 2.
Had meal the other day here. The food was great I had the beef miso it was very good. And the service by Phoebe out waitress was very nice
W. G.
Beautiful pub food is bit of a let down though. Quite high priced for the amount you get. Tasted nice but not great value for money.
P. R.
Well visited so many times last time was not so good staff was jumping from bar restaurant serving then realising there was customer waiting I asked for a Guinness and the lady poured it so quick she told me the cost before it was done .it was not a good pint either to much gas also the price so expensive tables outside were left empty glasses food plates 40 mins not even looked at and this was a week day not very good for a pub so near to busy airport sorry staff hopefully these comments will help your team
T. D.
The pub is located next to a Holiday Inn Express and a stone's throw from the NEC. This is a very pretty looking pub with lots of facilities both outside and in. We didn't take advantage of the large outdoor seating area (it was February) but it looks like a great place to have a beer in the summer. A warning to any tall people; some of the wooden ceiling beams are low so pay attention!
The food, however, was a little disappointing. As my pictures show, the food was well presented but all of the dishes we ordered had parts which had been either overcooked or had dried out due to being cooked too long ago. This was definitely not fine dining and does not justify their price tag.
Overall, go in summer for the beers and outdoor seating but book a restaurant elsewhere for food afterwards.
A. D.
Lovely little country style pub with amazing Sunday roasts.
Friendly, helpful staff and dog friendly. There's also a lovely little walkway at the back to work off your pudding!
H. S.
I was staying 2 mins away at the Premier Inn and after waiting 10 minutes at the bar in Premier Inn to get served, I remembered driving past this Pub on the way to the hotel, so I grabbed my family and came here. We were not dissapointed. I was able to try a couple of the local ales they had before purchasing which was good service.
The food itself was nice and hot and came out in a timely fashion. The menu was varied and we all (5 of us) had a good experience in a nice pub. Service was good and portions were large. Recommend a visit if you are in the area.
a.
Only visit here once a year but always a pleasent experience. Excellent selection of beers and ales. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Menu is good and food tasty. Overall a lovely country style pub which serves well to the local visitors and residents of the Holiday Inn!
s. H.
Very nice place to stop for a drink or a bite to eat. Welcoming, friendly and cosy environment. Also dog friendly
A. P.
Rustic little place - cozy ambiance. Food is OK. Ordered a pizza which was average, had certainly expected much better toppings and flavour. Was disappointed with service though. Pizza arrived only when I got up and asked about the long wait.
A. S. (. B. A.
After staying at a neighbouring hotel for 6 nights we ate here for 5 of them, much to put our disappointment... Our last evening we decided to dine here yet again...sigh.
Fiona managed to change our minds on the hospitality level of this pub.
She was knowledgeable, helpful, bubbly and more importantly welcoming.
The food is always amazing however the service is usually less so.
If you are planning a visit make sure it is during the week when this lovely professional waitress is on shift.
Absolute delight, for her to serve us.
We shall return :)
P. M.
Nice atmosphere, good service and drink selection. Open log fires create a perfect atmosphere, especially in winter.
M. L.
Good food, classic pub grub. Been a couple of times after work always busy.
L. U.
Seriously good food. Cosy little place in unpretentious environment. I ordered the pork belly and it tasted so good. Will definitely come back here the next time I'm in Birmingham. The staff could be a bit more attentive and friendly though. The food made up for the slow service.
M. B.
Loved it here, good food 😋 friendly staff hope to come & eat here again soon ❤

Lovely mother's Day brunch

Wow this gem of a place near the NEC solihull is stunning the food is delicious and well presented on the plate and cooked to yr liking, nothing is to much trouble and demand is met. The Little Owl is a warm welcoming gem of a place tucked away near the N E.C next door to a Holiday Inn if you wanted to stay over very close by. The Little Owl is very spacious to dine in and a warm ambiance invites you in for a most enjoyable evening or stay over, if your there for a meeting, or a 1 night stay over if your showing at the N.E.C or even if your flying to a destination from Birmingham Airport , The Little Owl is a gem of a place warm inviting indulgent, and relaxed, reguardless of what ever occasion you are there for, you will not be disappointed the ambience you get when your dining is relaxed with an open fire , the surroundings inside are very fitting for the style its in which makes it look inviting, relaxing, stylish, oldè worldie with subdued lighting a very comfortable lovely evening you will have here weather you come here for meetings, or just wining and dining with friends, or Valentine's, or special events and birthdays.
L. M.
Really nice find, staff attentive and food was great, definitely visit again.
S. J.
Dropped in at lunch time, I was a little disappointed to only see Doombar on draught, however it was a lovely pint. Had sandwiches (chicken/beef), both were hot and tasty. This was my first time here and it will not be the last.
M.
Very nice Sunday lunch couldn’t fault it. Staff very friendly and polite. Great way to start the holiday before we fly of tomorrow. 👍
K. L.
Easy to book. The open fire and dark lighting inside make it a really cosy and warm environment. The staff were polite but one seemed really clueless. His English was poor and when we ordered a bottle of wine to the table he took away our glasses which we asked for them back which ended up with lipstick stained glasses so we need to request again glasses. We ordered from the fixed menu because it was such a good deal with a good variety. Whilst we looked through the menu and were ready to order the starter and main most of the group wanted was out of stock. Brie and pizza, which you'd think the waiter would tell us before he let us stare at the menu for 10 minutes. The food came out at the same time. It looked and tasted great. We then ordered coffees in which one us was given latte with a giant chip in the mug, I don't know how they thought is was acceptable? We asked for a new mug and the waiter literally poured the latte into a fresh mug aha by this point we knew he was useless but the ambience and food was so nice I'd 100% come back. I'd just make sure we had a waiter who knows how to do his job.
L.
Lovely pub. Really enjoyed my lunch yesterday the service by phoebe was great. Definitely go again
S. G.
Lovely welcome from the staff. Comfy surroundings. Food was delicious and arrived at the table in good time.
K. M.
As a real ale drinker, the selection could have been better/expanded to outside of Cornwall (Tribute and Doom Bar only options).
Update 27/02/22 - Purity's Mad Goose the only real ale (at least more local). Bar service was also quite slow considering the pub wasn't overly busy.
P. S.
Another nice vintage inn that we have tried, really like the layout of pub with different types furniture, cosy areas around the pub some different ales available, staff are friendly and polite, we ordered and food was great and arrived promptly, it is a nice relaxed environment, will definitely come back again.
S. H.
Lovely food & good service. A really nice place I'd certainly go back again.
S. J.
Good place to meet up for a meal or drink. Roomy and service good.
P.
Had a great meal and the service was fantastic. Served by Paula. Will recommend to friends and family.
D. P.
Just had dinner here and was lovely would recommend. We were served by Paula thank you.
D. L.
Got pretty busy as the night went by (Saturday), practically a full house, lively atmosphere. Parking is available directly outside and next to a Holiday Inn with their own (barriered) parking.
Staff are both friendly and professional, asked for refills on beverages. Food was moderately priced, hunters chicken was around £13, adding their own twist using a chicken schnitzel rather than traditionally prepared. Chips were a good, crispy consistency. Presentation of food was plain.
Diners provided a lively atmosphere, especially as it got busier.
W. W.
Good food at reasonable prices and friendly staff with good service. The beer is OK too
B.
Had a lovely meal here before our flight early the next morning. The lamb was great and the pork was fabulous.
Good selection of wine too.
Wonderful staff, very friendly. Its a shame we live 3 hours away or I would return.
Maybe next time we fly from Birmingham.
W. F.
Excellent food and brilliant service great place to enjoy a Excellent meal
C. T.
Beautiful place and lovely atmosphere. The food was okay, could have had a bit more finesse.
I. Y.
Great beer choice.. beautifull bar staff ❤
M. G.

P. S.
Fantastic place for dinner and a drink always go here when I come to see a show
a.
Delicious food, reasonable portion size, fairly prices. Brilliant, pleasant & attentive friendly stuff! Great cozy pub with real ambience!! Fully recommended!!!
J. K.
Lovely place. Has been turned around now with the help of a new manager. With all dining being table service it has added an extra touch to make the dining experience more friendly and welcoming. Always enjoy coming here for food and drinks.
P. H.
Been there many times never had a bad meal or experience. Luke and his team are fantastic. Other than the dedicated restaurant the venue is dog friendly, with plenty of dog friendly places to eat and or drink. I would suggest booking if you wish to eat in the restaurant part as the place can get very busy .
The dog friendly part as far as I know is not bookable but give them a call to be sure
I. H.
Team were very welcoming and accomodating. The food was prompt, hot and nice...overall great lunch visit
G. M.
Really nice country style pub/restaurant. Has feel of an upper class restaurant with reasonable prices.
m. o.
When placing an order, it is difficult to ask for help because the reception is so crowded.
But the food and atmosphere were great and I felt very much at home with my friends in the seats by the fire.
The staff was friendly and helpful, even to a traveler like me whose English is not so good.
A. A.
Lovely place and made a large working group feel very welcome. Spreading us over a number of tables for end of project celebration meal.
The food and service was fantastic.
We had been eating here regularly over the past few weeks.
Everyone in the group had enjoyed the food and had very positive comments about the place.
S. A.
Have been to Little Owl for meals many times, food always good , disabled access, ample car parking , staff always friendly , even when I've popped in on the off chance without booking ahead ...Happy New Year....
L. C.
First time I had been for years. Lovely meal and not expensive.
P. S.
Had a lovely meal here. Sometimes meals are a little more expensive..but well well worth it. Nice Friendly and helpful staff. Good traditional beers available. Staff wearing masks and cleaning tables thoroughly between customers.
T. G.
Great little pub, nice friendly staff. Lovely outdoor area. Nice cosy indoor area. Food is pretty decent. Always have a few hand pulls on.

K. W.
Great place to eat and drink if your staying at the NEC Holiday Inn or Premier Inn
S. B.
Not been in The Little Owl for at least 2 years - and was greeted with "hello stranger" by top Team Member, Fiona - what a superstar and what a lovely welcome. I had a great pint of Doombar and the seriously good 'Duo of Lamb' - delicious ! I was on my own, on business, so it was great to have a cozy table, fantastic food & beer and even better service. Thank you Fiona and team - I'll hopefully be back soon.
H. M.
A great example of a Vintage Inn. Relatively busy even on a Monday night which is a great sign. We had an easy time getting a table for 6 at an hour's notice. Good food and great service all around!
P. “. H.
An interesting menu, with excellent quality food at good value. Staff are pleasant and very efficient!
Would highly recommend the Little Owl at any time, but especially for an evening meal after visiting the NEC, while letting the rush hour traffic clear on the motorway!
M. R.
Great food and service, as always
A. H.
Great pub near to the NEC. Had a pizza which was really nice and onion rings.
b. g.
Really nice food. Great atmosphere.
T. Q.
Very nice place would recommend it good for couples out with friends atmosphere is amazing
A. N.
Big thank you for Phoebe, for make our meal the best. Great food 👍
N. P.
Slow service as was a busy Saturday night so understandable but had ran out of a loads meals due to the same reason. Warned of an hour wait but starter came out quite quick, mains about 25 mins but let down by the pudding. We waited nearly an hour for an apple pie and cheesecake. We had to tell barmaid 3 times that we were still waiting as no one on the floor actually came to check on us. Eventually we were told manager would bring puddings out so we're expecting some sort of apology which would have gone a long way to correcting the situation but he just set our puddings down and left. No apology, nothing. Not the best experience and not the type of customer service I expect from a Vintage Inns
K. P. (.
Good food and fantastic service the beer's really good also
L. R.

Great atmosphere, easy, relaxing.
P. F.
Lovely setting amazing staff but stake was a bit over done and was pretty tough 1st time this has happened too so will hopefully get a perfectly cooked stake next time.
D. P.
First time I have been here, nice relaxed atmosphere with good food and drink.
E. W.
Had a lovely meal. Just a shame there was no heating on . Our party of 11 was freezing.
j. L.
Freezing cold outside, sat down by the log fire with my dog, lovely and warm. Nice food and lovely people working there. Yeah
A. P.
Good service. But limited vegan pudding & no alternative milk for dairy free. Well spaced.
P.
I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone at the Little Owl, we have dined here a number of times with our 3 little fur babies in their pushchair and every single time we come we are greeted so warmly and there is such a fabulous cosy atmosphere.
The food is amazing! It is always worthy of a top restaurant and the desserts are to die for! So much so that we can never decide between them and usually end up ordering two each :)
Our dogs love it here and the staff always make a fuss of them. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and it is cosy and comfortable with cushions to sink back into it is plainly obvious that this gem of an establishment is well loved and appreciated it is well worth travelling that extra mile out of one's way.
The tall young chap tidying and collecting glasses etc is so well mannered and kind and a true asset to the Little Owl it's a pleasure to see people happy in their work.
Thank you all once again and we will be back soon.
J. C.
Lovely food and atmosphere. Great service even when busy.
N. S.
Great atmosphere. Real log fire. Great food. Not bad prices. Would come again.

That star rating is only on drinks! Friendly staff and good atmosphere
K. B.
Amazing food had a fabulous time great service lovely staff definitely go again.
Phoebe the waitress went above and beyond to give us a great time
V. T.
This place should be in a country lane next to a small village, although its next to a motorway it still feels like a country pub should feel, they serve good food and the place has a nice atmosphere.
I. I.
Always love a work lunch here. Plenty if variety and reasonably priced. Staff very attentive.
K.
We went twice this week. We tried lasagne, pork belly ,salmon and the lamb. All very tasty. A good experience, we will try some puddings next time. 🙂
J. B.
I have just visited the Little Owl for the first time. I am working away from home, and therefore was dining alone, the service was very welcoming and friendly. I was given a table next to the log fire and ordered homemade lobster and fish cakes, the food was well cooked and a good sized portion. I'll definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu.
K. A.
Great pub, friendly staff and good food
L. T.
Food was amazing!! Cooked to perfection. Maybe, one of the best burgers I've ever had. But the onion rings, were by far the best part of my meal 😁. So cozy and very homey. Doesn't feel like your average pub. It's far greater and beautiful than most typical pubs. Staff were super friendly and happy to accommodate to any of my needs. Definitely come here again. Keep doing what you're doing and don't change a thing!! I'll definitely be back for those onion rings 😁
F. B.
Great food and fantastic and friendly service, particularly from James who served our food. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely visit again.
T.
Jarek is fantastic. Great food, good prices.
T. F.
Enjoyed the bar and drinks plus the staff were nice.
Slightly disappointed in the food (dried schnitzel and sandy scallops) but over all ok.
M. B.
We visit regularly for drinks and occasionally for food. The staff are great, very welcoming, and fast and efficient service. Well worth a visit !
S. T.
Nice little place in the middle of the business park.
Great outside seating area.
As for the food, I'm not sure if they were busy with the Eat Out to Help Out scheme but my Hunter's Chicken must've sat under the grill/hot lamp for a bit too long. It tasted nice, but the cheese and ham on top were 'crispy'.
Probably won't go at the normal price.
A. D.
Went for a wake. Nice food. Cheep drinks
J. R.
How does a restaurant not have a delivery of cream or brownies. The shop down the road has some and brownies are flour eggs butter and chocolate. Is nothing made on site?
M. N.
We had two starters as just peckish and they were lovely. Lovely day so sat outside and really nice. The only thing that puts me off were the two waiters. One had very long nails which personally I hate on a man but thought they didn't look especially clean as he was serving food and the second waiter looked a bit scruffy. Shame as everything else was great.
A. K.
Last ate here during social distancing being applied met with my daughter and her partner and we had a socially distance meal. The staff as always were great and the food as always was lovely.
G. W.
Excellent meal very friendly and helpful staff

Friendly staff, dog friendly and food was lovely. Definitely visit again when I’m in the area
R. H.
Great location with great service. We liked it and can recommend it!
J. W.
Had a fantastic Christmas day meal. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. We were seated on time and told we had the table for the whole afternoon as no one had booked it. Starters came and then we were able to wait a while for our mains and the puddings. The food was excellent and it was nice not to rush. A special mention to Paula who looked after us all afternoon, very attentive and nothing was too much trouble, she made our day. Thanks to all at The Little Owl, we may book for next year.
C. S.
Lovely pub, layout and food. Good price for the quality too. Had a nice afternoon, many thanks!
S. I.
Lovely food, great service.
L. B.
Popped in for a drink and coffee as people we were picking up from the airport had been delayed, so convenient place to kick our heels for a while. Only wish we could have spared the time to stay a bit longer, as it is such a lovely warm and welcoming place. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Will definitely go back there to spend a bit more time and hopefully sample their food.
J. F.
Nice place staff friendly but very pricey fish and chips nearly £15
J. R.
How does a restaurant not have a delivery of cream or brownies. The shop down the road has some and brownies are flour eggs butter and chocolate. Is nothing made on site?

Interior was nice and traditional, even boasting an open fireplace. The food and service could have been better. It took 30 minutes just for a sandwich, and the beef was very dry (part of the sandwich was unfilled too). No cutlery brought to the table with my food either, not even a napkin. I even had to take a wander for salt and pepper, which turns out they keep behind the bar. Why?

Had a lovely meal last night, staff were very friendly.
H. K.
Landed here for a group lunch while travelling. A really nice place. Had a comfortable country pub vibe. Friendly staff and great service. Dropped a star for my menu choice. Picked some curry and rice from the vegan menu. It wasn't that great and there wasn't enough. Polished it off then watched everyone else enjoy their pie/ burger/ pizza. Despite that would still recommend.

Had a great dinner as a big group of 9. Fiona was really helpful and we'll be returning back the next time we're in Birmingham.

Very nice discover! Went with Family for roast, we all liked it, nice and cosy place, very good service. We will definitely come back
J. M.
I really like it, good food. Good ambiance. A very nice place.

We were a group of five for lunch , I thought the welcome , service and food were all excellent !! Can highly recommend 👍
E. B.
Had a great night in this lovely pub
D. N.
Great pub! The staff were friendly and helpful. Really good menu. Can recommend the steak and ale pie but all the food was good. Nice outdoor seating area. I can really recommend this pub. A good way to start a holiday. It is right next to a Holiday Inn Express so very convenient.
C. V.
Amazing food and fantastic customer service. An overall great night for my sister in-laws birthday!!
Thanks to all the staff on 29.05.21
M. B.
Great pub, friendly staff and well priced tasty food.
D. A.
I like this pub. Given the current situation there was plenty of space. Staff were friendly and efficient, food delicious. I had the chicken pie, pastry was light and the filling moreish. Will definitely be back.

Gr8 meal gr8 service gr8 price

Charming country-style pub on the edge of the Business Park / NEC. Good food and wine: reasonable range of beers. Friendly and helpful staff.
G. E.
The food was overall very good, but unfortunately the steak we ordered medium rare was cooked just shy of well enough to have made Donald Trump happy. A couple of free (and extremely tasty) desserts were a welcome conciliatory offer for the steak as we were both starving.
The staff were friendly, and the pub generally seemed quite a nice place to eat.
I. K.
Lovely place with a real fireplace and lady Fiona looked after us very very well! Thank you!
J. C.
Good food and severe would go again
l. m.
Really nice pub first time food really nice.
The downfall is one of the staff we had to tell him to go back to work due to walking about praying and acting different in his job.
Hes funny when you ask about star wars but he does go on a bit and can be distracting.
People can be off putting comming again.
If he does have a problem he should be in the kitchen to help wash up not to stand in a mirror and pray !!!!
A. A.
My friends and I went there to avoid the horrendous traffic after attending crufts.
The pub was really busy so we were abit apprehensive about ordering food because of the wait and whether it would be nice.
The food was lovely and the wait wasn't as long as we thought it would be.
The staff being under pressure remained very polite, helpful and upbeat.
The price was reasonable too. We would definitely recommend the little owl and will be returning.
Thanks to all the staff.

Nice old pub restaurant with bar area, order at bar, or waitress service area. Atmosphere good with very friendly service. Steak well cooked and good portions. Only four stars because we had difficulty finding it. Tucked behind a modern hotel with a small sign which we only spotted on our third attempt. Thought we were going into the car park only.
i.
A cosy little out of the way pub, good old fashioned customer service, friendly and amiable. The food was excellent, well presented and top quality. This was my first visit to this establishment and I will definitely pay them a visit again!
O. P.
While the mash and veg were very good, I was underwhelmed by the steak pie that was the main event - it looked great on the plate but when I cut into the pie there was more air than filling inside. I'll try something else next time, as it is very convenient for escaping the queues at kicking out time for NEC events.
B. H.
Really good food, service was good with friendly/attentive staff. We arrived at 8pm on a Sunday which meang we just missed their Sunday roasts - but their were plenty of other great 'wholesome' dishes on the menu. We were staying at the Holiday Inn express next door for a convention at the NEC and this made a really nice change to the usual hotel/convention centre food! The only downside was that it did seem a bit pricey for a 'country' pub.
A. N.
We had a lovely meal there yesterday. The food was really nice and the service was fabulous. Our server was a lovely lady called Lisa, she made sure we had a lovely time , checking everything was fine with us and making sure we didn’t have to wait for drinks. We will definitely be returning.
S. W.
We stayed at the hotel next door and ate at the little owl. Food was great and service was too.
M. B.
Great dog friendly pub, attentive staff & food was delicious! My husband & I had scallops for starters, followed by a 10oz rib eye, triple cooked chips & other sides. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
W. L.
Have been to this pub a number of times over the past few months and one the whole is a decent place for food and drink. Nice decor, friendly staff and good food. I can see its a very mixed bag review wise but on my experiences I recommend a visit here.
A. D.
Lovely place to chill and eat. Staff friendly and helpful, great food and beers.
V. L.
The food is amazing! Staff were very attentive and welcoming! Literally ate here 5 days in a row whilst I was away for work! Brilliant! Very well priced too!
G. H.
We had vegan and vegetarian dinner. 3 courses. Good food and wine. Very nice selection on vegan menu even though some meals were not available I was quite pleased as it was very tasty. Portions may be a bit small for some people. Very friendly. Nice atmosphere and very friendly good and quick service. Very good.
N. E.
Great food, great staff, first visit but not the last
M. S.
Lovely little pub. All staff very welcoming and friendly despjte it being busy. on the night me and my family went in there the waitress who bought our food over was really friendly and made sure that all was okay with our meals and drinks. I think her name was Rachel. nothing seemed to much for her. fantastic place overall
S. H.
Sat outside with a couple of friends. The app to order is quite long winded and wouldn't accept card details tried 3 different cards so gave up and ordered with the barman who was doing table service
D. L.
Delicious food, great atmosphere!
M. A. B.
Starters were tasty. The sticky platter cooked well. Service at the bar for all three of us was disappointing, with staff more keen on chatting to each other or the regulars than serving people stood in front of them. Main course of steaks arrived for 2 of us,15 minutes later.... "Discussion" about the fact that we "hadn't" ordered a 3rd meal was ended by us showing the receipt... The reason they have 3 stars is because the duty manager got involved and to their credit he turned it around. He took away the two (now) cold meals and had all 3 cooked fresh. Food was tasty when it arrived, and a generous refund was offered (without being asked for). Sadly we are at hotel next door for another 2 nights and won't be coming back.
C. P.
Lovely evening meal and a great breakfast, lovely staff and a beautiful interior and beer garden .x
K. F.
A few of us went for a farewell drink as one of our work colleague was leaving our working establishment (CHEP). The Little Owl is a very nice public house. The staff were friendly & cheerful & the drinks were good & the clientele was of a different type. It was the first time I've been to this place & I'd definitely go again 👍
A. G.
Service was slow, food.... You get what you pay for. James, I did not say that I didn't enjoy myself at the little owl. I merely stated that the service was slow... Which it was. The food is 'pub grub' so yes you get what you pay for and nothing more. I had a lovely time with friends thankyou.
M. D.
Went for Christmas day dinner.£65.00 a dinner, not too bad for Christmas day but we had to ask for another slice of Turkey, we were given the same amount as the kids. At £65 you expect to have a full belly when you leave, a little disappointing, not in the quality of the food, but in quantity.
P. T.
This is situated within 60 yards of the Holiday Inn Express, Birmingham, a nice friendly, cozy place with pleasant surroundings. Food looked good and they were still serving desserts at 10pm. My OH enjoyed his pint and I had a rather nice glass of rose.
C. C.
Very cosy and welcoming here, staff courteous and friendly. Happy to help with warming up a bottle of baby milk for a hungry 3 month old! This was our first visit and it was clearly a popular venue for locals. Plenty of parking. Booked a table and returning in a couple of days.
L. M.
Nice little boozer, they even sell shandy bass but you got to ask for that especially as we all know that stuff is lethal!
Anyway the main premise of the review is a man...or should i say legend, a man known by all whoever drinks in this establishment, he has hair that is simply out of 1987 you just have to see it...graceful, light, feathered but above all deadly! you just don't see hair like that anymore.
The man is simply known as Barnet!
D. F.
The Little Owl was a refreshing stop after an 8 mile walk around Sheldon & Elmdon parks.
It was table service, good food & ale with a smile, I think as all staff wore masks. People were sat a good distance apart, with a row of tables between those used for service.
D. N.
Nice pub lovely food
J. M.
Lovely little old looking pub, situated right by thd Holiday Inn express if your on your travels and need a place to stay. Pub service is nice, people are nice and meals are great and you get what you pay for too. I definitely would recommend this place 👍🏼😊
S. W.
Beautiful place, staff are lovely and polite, though I have had to knock a star off as not perfect. My partner asked for a chicken pie and got a steak pie instead 🥴 and as I said the staff are very good and offered to change it and was very apologetic 😊
S. T.
Have been eating here two nights in a row. The food is lovely and I love the beautiful fire too. Staff are friendly and really couldn't be more helpful with any requests. Fast service and reasonably priced. What more could you ask for? Thanks for looking after us guys? Xx

Loved the steak!

Excellent food and service. We had a family dinner with two kids and other night a business dinner. Very good meals, nice interior, drawing things for kids and also vegetarian food for myself. Just next to our hotel. Definately recommend.

As a mother of a small child with a food allergy, I can't recommend this place enough! The allergy info was clear and easy to access, the service was friendly and quick, and the food was lovely! Will definitely be going back...
L.
Amazing amazing amazing service! The lady that served us tonight was so lovely. We had a problem with one of our dishes, but it was so quickly and nicely sorted out that we have such a high standard rememberance of this place.
P. D.
I visited with a couple of friends whilst on a business trip to the NEC. The outside of the pub looks very old and charming. The inside is purely replica but split into several areas to eat and drink in private. There's a good selection of beer a good selection of wine and no more 10 whiskeys to indulge in afterwards full stop we didn't eat but the portions they came out of the kitchen seems large and there were always empty plates before people stood up. This isn't a local pub it's always going to be one that you pop two while staying at the hotel and for that it's great
A. E.
Nice beer, friendly staff, so so food at above expected prices for the quality.
C. W.
All the food was delicious, the only complaint being my mother's potatoes were slightly harder than she would have liked but five of us had 3 courses each and everything else was cooked to perfection. There was a bit of a wait but it was fully booked and very busy,
D. K.
Great spot with a lovely outdoor area and excellent menu. And Eton Mess too 😋
B. B.
I really like this place.... it just does solid pub food every time.
Its not the cheapest place, but the environment is pleasant and parking is always available.
T. D.
So I am at a two day conference at the NEC; staying at a nearby hotel and passed this place on the way to check in. Looked like a nice 'traditional' pub, so returned for dinner. Was not disappointed. Comfy armchairs, roaring wood fire, friendly staff, lovely steak and chips, well kept beer (from Al Murray no less) and good value. Would recommend for the tired business traveller in search of a relaxing atmosphere, good food and beer.
D. R.
Only had a couple of bowls of chips as a snack, but they were lovely, chunky and not too greasy..😊 the pub itself is lovely and cosy, a lovely open fire too and also dogs are welcome which is a bonus in my eyes..definitely recommend a visit.
A. M.
First meal out post lockdown and both the food and service were amazing. Very happy.
B. P.
Great and friendly staff. Good food. Will be back again.
J. O.
I love this pub. It has a lovely, warm, welcoming atmosphere. The food is delicious and it has a good menu. The staff all seem very friendly and I love the decor. A great place to go for lunch/ dinner or just for a drink.
L. G.
Lovely pub easy to find with plenty of parking and yummy menu. Great alternative to stopping at a service station.
P. L.
If you work at the business park, this is a great place. Sit outside on a sunny, likes today and enjoy your afternoon.
K. N.
The food was very tasty and hot. Staff were very pleasant and didn't feel rushed to leave.
L. W.
The best meal I have had here, was brilliant. Great service and atmosphere. Me and my partner love it here
I. C.
Lovely food and great service!

I had a lovely experience in The Little owl last night. I was having a few drinks and a meal with a friend when a young man who was a waiter introduced himself. His name was Daniel. Daniel was a friendly and chatty member of your team. He had an amazing character and was telling me a bit about himself..this really touched me. Its fantastic that Daniel is interacting with customers the way he does and he does an amazing job. It definitely made my evening.
L. L.
Food was fab the service excellent and even though it was extremely busy we were served quickly and efficiently. For a group of 7 I feel that is pretty good.
I wish I could give half a stat as I feel for isnt enough. However there was a little niggle that ine of the staff members who was lovely but kept interrupting the conversation we were in the middle of to tell us random facts about Japan. When finally he had finished we asked whether he was keen to teach us having just got back from a trip. He hadn't.....whilst not necessary bad it was un needed and a little weird.
Besides that 5 out of 5
V. R.
Food & service was great, would definitely recommend to family & friends
p. s.
Nice place to eat near the nec. Food reasonably priced and a good meal too. I had the hunters chicken which comes with gammon instead of bacon which I actually prefer. Been here few times now and food always been good and staff are friendly too.
C. S.
Lovely place with great food and real friendly and helpful staff. Really enjoyed it and would go again. Recommend for sure
M. C.
Nice pub, typically english. Love the beers and cocktails and food is a good quality. When is busy I don't recommand you to go, you may wait a while for your food with the risk of being served not really well.
r. h.
We sat at dirty one(31) table clue.
Carpets looked black around the edges and general look wasn't any better.
Toilets showing a lack of proper cleaning and feeling a bit dated compared to other pubs
Anybody with a slight difficulty with stairs this wouldn't be to good because they are up two flights of stairs which didn't sound to good as you walked and down them they creaked badly.
You could always use the disabled WC on the ground floor which most people seemed to be doing..
Printed menus that you really couldn't see what was on offer as they had half the ink missing towards the right hand side of the page.
The chips aren't triple cooked more like once and a half.
Pizza had to much corn flour on the base and a lot of it ended up on your clothes.
Drinks as any other pub in this location.
Staff a little bit unhelpful and didn't take it well when asked to replenish the cuttely on the table, when six for food why only give 5 sets of knifes and folks.
Only used this as close to the NEC which I feel is the only reason it is still going as it is also used by the hotel right next door
Would we use again not sure but hopefully they will read this review and act to rectify the listed problems.
Only ever give a true account on places visited.
R. J.
Lovely place to visit very friendly staff beautiful food
S. J.
Nice place. Very busy when I visited with a long wait for a table. Some tables were cordoned off but couldn't see why. Food was OK, slightly over cooked so a tad dry but still tasted OK. Prices were not too bad.
K. B.
Fantastic food and lovely staff
M. D.
Went here for Christmas dinner, I left a not so perfect revue, that was because the little owl was a little bit mean with the amount of food given, but I was invited back by James, so I went along the other night and I must say the food was top quality as was the service, great little venue this, give it try.

Very nice atmosphere and cosy interior. Friendly and helpful staff. Our diner was excellent! Me and my 3 colleagues had a great evening.

Have visited this place twice before a few years ago and was looking forward to a fantastic meal in a beautiful pub. The pub was still as beautiful but when we stated we had booked a table and gave our name, the waitress had to return as she had forgotten our name, then returned to ask was it a table for 8 people or for 8 o clock (this was 4.00pm by the way), we answered neither, it was a table for 2 at 4.15, we were eventually advised we could sit anywhere we liked, so chose a cosy table for 2 adjacent to the fireplace. We had to order our food from the bar, which we have never had to before, again not a problem if we had been informed but we sat waiting for 15 minutes for someone to come take our order. When the starters arrived I had ordered warm rustic bread with seeded butter, it was cold rustic bread and was more like very thick crackers, very hard and crunchy, not like I had imagined, my husband had the calamari and reported it was decidedly tepid at best. The main meals of chicken for me and rib-eye steak for my husband were delicious and redeemed themselves slightly by these, but the dessert....I ordered Eton Mess which I had eaten before there and thoroughly enjoyed, we had to remind them we were still waiting for our dessert 40 minutes after we had finished our mains and when mine arrived it was so disappointed. Just a mound of pick cream dolloped on a plate with half a meringue nest plonked on top with 4 cubes of frozen berries placed around it and jus swirled on the top! Nothing like I had enjoyed before with pieces of meringue mixed in with the white whipped cream and fresh raspberries and blueberries sprinkled on top. Not sure yet whether will return or not, its location is ideal for those visiting the NEC as we were for an evening concert, but is now leaving a lot to be desired I'm afraid!
D. H.
Food is above average with plenty of choice and reasonably priced. Service a little slow during busy hours. Wide selection of beers but have been disappointed on a couple of occasions due to running out of various brands mid-evening. Excellent choice for food however if staying next door at the Holiday Inn.
S. B.
I really enjoyed the food here and the pub had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The pizza was delicious as was the raspberry Milkshake cheesecake. I will definitely come back here again.
R. e.
Turned up on a busy Saturday night, was almost immediately found a table, food arrived quickly and was excellent as was the friendly staff. Portions very generous. Hope to return.
C. B.
Really good friendly service with very nice food.
J. C.
Went to a Gin Tasting event last nite. Had such a good time all staff were friendly and attentive especially James who was extremely knowledgeable about the Gin's on offer and advised us on the best mixers. Elderflower is now my favourite. We had the melted Camembert it was lush. Well done to everyone involved it was very well organised 👍👍
P. B.
We have eaten here for the last two years and each time the food has been varied, interesting, and very tasty.
Quick friendly service too in a welcoming clean place.
M. B.
Beautiful place, the staff very friendly couldn't be more helpful. It's a shame we don't live locally. The food really lovely and a very wide range .
K. H.
Pub was very clean ,staff nice and friendly, food was hot and nice ,it is a nice place to eat cheers.
H. h.
I'm afraid this pubsp grub is not the best. The portions are smallish for the price and I have just had a very odd 4 cheese pizza which had me wondering " what sort of cheese was that"? The bar is ok but meals are a bit hit and miss and the menu could do with a rethink to bring it into the 21st Century methinks.
S. O.
Service was great, nice friendly atmosphere and the inside of the pub is very cosy. Food was average, I expected more for the price but it was acceptable. Average selection of beers, nothing exciting. I'd go again.
R. J.
All round excellent. Food, service, environment, menu.
G. B.
Thought the drinks were incredibly expensive
R. C.
Lovely atmosphere and the food was beautiful. We went at a busy time too but the service was really good. A full 5 stars.
D. W.
Very good food relaxing atmosphere either day or night .
J. L.
only had a drink but great little pub
A. G.
If we had as nice places in south east Kent, they would definitely put a lot of other competitors out of business. Friendly staff and good food. Not a limited drinks offering either as another comment has been left on the restaurant. Great !
A. B.
Salt and Peper squid was great
M. P.
This place has gone downhill rapidly poor service waited 15 minutes to get served a drink. Was going to have food but thought better of it. What is going wrong in this world when you cant take care of your customers.
L. G.
Lovely pub food was delicious and well presented. Good value, good portions and staff polite and helpful.
H. C.
Decent food but service was a bit slow. We waited 45 minutes for our food and when you are on a lunch break it's too long to wait. Would have lunch there again on a week day
A. M.
Food and atmosphere were reasonable. Main course appeared pretty quickly. Puddings took a bit too long. Beware the location shown - the pub is not next to the station.
P. B.
Very nice pub with the feel of a local, right next to the NEC
S. C.
Highly recommended - Family of 5 out for Fathers Day. Wonderful place, good atmosphere, delicious food and friendly staff. We visit regularly and service and food are both excellent 😁.
L. W.
Nice pub off of a busy roadway in the West Midlands. Service was a little chaotic even though the establishment wasn't busy. Food was good, reasonable sized portion.
D. W.
Not too far from Birmingham International. Nice food. A selection of ales but they are known for running out of these. Drinks are a little pricey but not too bad. Also next door to a Holiday Inn and a short walk from a Premier Inn too. It takes around 25 minutes to walk to N.E.C., the airport and train links available at Birmingham International along the Birmingham New Street to London Euston line.
J. B.
Just had our new year bash here, really good night, excellent pub grub, well presented and cooked. I have read some of the poor reviews on this place, most of which are garbage, it is what it is,a really nice place to enjoy simple food and good quality ale, served by nice friendly staff.
k. h.
It's been a long time since I've been here. Great food and service. Will definitely use again.
L. D.
Good beer choice and staff are friendly. Foods good vut havent eaten there for a while. Would be 4 stars but they owe me a tenner out of a fruity that I'll never see.
M. g.
Food was lovely
Fresh and hot. I would deff go here again
S. P.
Great food, quick service, good parking
M. L.
Lovely pub. Food always good but service is a little slow. Fine if you're not in a hurry
L. H.
Ok spot. Have to say the food and portions sizes weren’t amazing, very average. Although the staff, although busy, were very friendly and helpful. Staff 5* food 2/3*
D. W.
Lovely food at decent prices. Waitress was really lovely and friendly with good knowledge of what was available and made great recommendations. Nice cosy pub.
R. E.

Friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Lovely little pub, away from all hustle and bustle.
Decent food, even though it is expensive in my own opinion.
The staff are lovely and service is always good!
J. B.
Chain dining pub but a fair imitation of an old country pub. Pleasant and quiet when we were in.
I. B.
Lovely meal after a long day at the NEC
D. W.
A great little pub for a casual drink, perfect for a relaxed afternoon with a friend or partner. The Little Owl has a great atmosphere and a good selection of drinks. The food served here is good, although variety is limited.
S. M.
Visited here three years ago and loved the pub and the food. Some of the more recent reviews are less than flattering though.
S. D.
Great pub, great atmosphere, lovely food. Off the beaten track but well worth it.
a. b.
This pub is very good the manager Jackie was very helpful as we had not reserved a table and said she would try later when we would be returning when we did a table was ready for us and service was excellent will be returning a s a p Maria & tony

Great night beacuse of brilliant service from Paula the lovely Irish waitress xx
G. W.
Very good food at reasonable prices. Service was slightly slow but the place was rammed. So pretty damned good really
M. R.
Great place for a catch-up; drinks and an impromptu meal accommodated by a superb team even on a busy night. Well done and thank you🌻🌻🌻
N. S.
Nice people but vegan sunday lunch was a joke. Bit of nut roast with some roasted courgette cost £10.50. No potatoes or anything.
m. c.
what a place for easy relaxed drink and meal. staff are friendly and. helpful . the food is excellent and decor top notch ! we will be back, thank you
J. M. B.
Best fish and chips i have ever ate!!!! Far beyond a wonderful palce to eat in a very clasical english pub!!!! Very friendly crew and great service!
A. S.
Service was pleasant although we had to repeat ourselves while ordering it. Nice food.but part of the meal was missing . Had to wait for it.
L. B.
Friendly staff and food was quite nice and didn't have to wait long inbetween courses. Would recommend booking a table though as it gets very busy.
J. S.
James was very accommodating and was a pleasure. Top pint of peroni also.
Thank you!
S. F.
Went for a meal with friends from work, service was great, I had seafood tart which I would give 1 out of 5, sea bass 5 out of 5 and pudding 4 out of 5.
K. H.
A lovely find after a long day. Friendly staff.
T. Y.
Went in at lunch time did wait quite a while for the meal which I had soup and supposed to be rustic bread, soup was really nice would have it again just disappointed with the bread look like they had found a bit from leftovers
S. K.
Great food, lovely Sunday roast. Could not fault it. Nice & quiet at the weekend too, probably because it’s a weekday pub I suspect.
A hidden treasure
P. S.
Nice pub in the middle of a busy road, rail, & air network. Good selection a drinks, haven't tried the food but it looks good and is reasonably priced.
J. M.
Can order on the app and service is fast. Food I'd tasty
R. S.
best pub in marston green, if not the country. As I walked through the doors, my eyes became watery from the intimate smell of the onion rings and I knew it was time to order a pint of Carling. My wife and I hope to get married here in the future, it is my second home, if not a better home than my real home. Either way, this is the pub to go. Ps Lawson moore is the best waiter
G. T.
They have recently changed their menu the food is delicious, service was very quick, friendly staff
D. M.
Good food and drink and very popular. I'd advise booking. Not a cheap place but you get value for the money
T. H. (.
Great food and warm fire
G. K.
Very tasty, well cooked food. Friendly staff. What's not to like?
H. O.
Very nice little pub to eat, food was nice.. im putting 4 stars as we waited over an hour for our mains and we had children with us that were starving and then another 45 mins for pudding... the manager was fab sorted the situation out for us but the waiteress was useless .. we havent been put off though and would like to visit it again
S. T.
